LEONARDO LINKED TO BRIT MODEL

Hardly surprising news, but Leonardo DiCaprio is enjoying time off set with another new model/ love interest this month! The girl in question is Brit Burberry model Neelam Gill who at 28 is 20 years younger than Leo. The duo are in Port Cervo in Sardinia soaking up the sun and looking very much like a couple in love. Plus in April this year, Gill was spotted wearing a Leo necklace that first started the romance rumours.

Although Gill was quick to quash the connection with Leo posting on her social media "Just to clear up any rumours...I am not Leonardo DiCaprio's 'new flame.' In fact, I am in a committed relationship with his good friend, and have been for many months now. The only reason we have been pictured in the same vicinity, is because I have been there with my partner. I hope this clears up all the false stories."

Last month, DiCaprio was also linked to model Gigi Hadid after being seen out at a dinner in New York and later at a party in The Hamptons. Gigi, 28, has just broken up with ‘One Direction’ singer Zayn Malik following an altercation he had with her mother Yolnada, and is said to be taking time out to be single so as not to upset Zayn. At least Leonardo appears to be attempting to breaking his “under 25” rule which he has kept to for his last 9 model girlfriends including Gisele Bunchen, Bar Refaeli, Blake Lively, Erin Heatherton, Kat Torres, Toni Garrn, Kelly Rohrboch, Nina Agdal and Camila Morrone. The ‘Titanic’ star has historically been known to date girls, all when they are under 25 and finishes with them before they hit 25! HARRY & MEGHAN FALL OUT WITH BECKHAMS

Harry & Meghan are reportedly obsessed with finding out about “tabloid story leaks” with David & Victoria Beckham said to be the latest friends to come under fire. According to the Mirror, Prince Harry called David to ask if they were behind several stories in the press and David is apparently furious they are being blamed, having always been staunch supporters of the former Royals. The Beckhams were invited to attend Harry & Meghan’s wedding in 2018 yet a reciprocated invite to attend their son Brooklyn’s wedding to Nicola Peltz last year never materialised. Harry & Meghan have also parted ways with their former best friends designer Jessica Mulorney and Harry’s oldest school friend Tom Inskip. Several close friends including TV stars Lizzie Cundy and Millie Mackintosh have also come out saying they were “ghosted” by Harry & Meghan.

SINEAD O’ CONNOR TRAGIC DEATH

Iconic Irish singer Sinead O’ Connor passed away on Wednesday July 26th aged 56. Her body was discovered by ambulance crew in her South London flat, the cause of death is not yet known.

O’ Connor was allegedly suffering with depression after the suicide of her 17-year-old son Shane Lunny who died in 2022. She is survived by her three children; Jake Reynolds (34) Roisin Waters (27) and Yeshua Bonadio (16).

The ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer had been living in Ireland but moved to London to be closer to her kids following Shane’s death.

She famously posted a video of herself crying in 2017 discussing her battle with “suicide and loneliness” in a Travelodge Hotel on her Facebook account. The video went viral and really shook fans and the media.

She had lived a fairly quiet life since then, aware of public scrutiny.

“I’m not a pop star," she wrote in her memoir ‘Rememberings’ in 2021. "I’m just a troubled soul who needs to scream into mikes now and then.”

O’Connor often said the job of an artist is to be themselves at any cost. Even as she faced professional setbacks, personal challenges and unbearable hardships (including the death of her son last year) she never stopped using her voice to push back against injustice and those who tried to silence her despite the impact on her career.

Her bereaved family have requested that their privacy be respected during this incredibly challenging time.

VICKY & FIANCÉ IN NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE

TV presenter Vicky Pattinson and her fiancé Ercan Ramadan were involved in a terrifying neardeath experience on Saturday 29th July after the Uber they were travelling in burst into flames. Posting on her Instagram Stories to her 5.4 million followers Vicky said, “actually don’t even know what to say about what’s just happened. It was absolutely terrifying. We were just driving along in this Uber and Ercan saw that the engine management light was on and then the car started making a really horrible noise." She goes on to say how the driver pulled over but smoke was already coming out the back of the car. "We were on the A1 so you didn’t want to get out and then all of a sudden it just caught fire,” the presenter recalls.

Finishing off with a joke the former ‘Geordie Shore’ star said, “Thank you @uber for charging me £50 for the privilege of nearly being BBQ’d!”

The stars were out in force for Wimbledon 2023. Although us Brits didn’t fare well on court, off court the likes of David Beckham, Kadiff Karwan and Corey Mylchreest were definite winners in the style stakes.

Our best dressed list includes SW19 regular David Beckham in a gorgeous Ralph Lauren fitted cream suit, white shirt with a brown/cream motif tie and matching pocket scarf. Dapper was an understatement - as Becks schmoozed in the GQ x Evian luncheon area with US tennis legend Roger Federer - who also favoured a white/cream suited and booted look.

Sharp suits being the order of the day we move swiftly onto British and Montserratian ‘Fleabag’ actor Kadiff Karwan who wore it just as well, but in navy. The actor paired his darker ensemble with a burgundy and purple striped tie, tie clip in gold and gold and silver oversized buttons. He looked even cooler with his perspex shades, proving modern can cut it with the classics.

‘Lord of the Rings’ actor Orlando Bloom backed up the suit brigade with his navy number with white grid checks. He topped the look off with a blue and white pinstripe shirt, navy crochet tie and blue lens glasses – looking effortless. His overtly dressed missus Katy Perry would be proud.

ANYONE FOR ‘LAID BACK’ TENNIS?

The other stars on our best dressed list won’t disappoint, including ‘Heartstopper’ actor Sebastian Croft who went for a cool but casual Miu Miu grey jumper and slacks having worn a much more formal mint green Prada suit in 2022.

Similarly, Corey Mylchreest proved that dressed down khaki green, a white tee and trainers can be game, set, match. Our favourite dressed down look comes from Irish actor Andrew Scott who teamed his lilac suit with a green tee while hanging with ‘Fleabag’ co-star Karwan.

The stars were out in force for Wimbledon 2023 and served up exquisitely on the style stakes. From Sienna Miller’s preppy pinstripe to Lady Windsor’s cute butterfly dress, the girls smashed it at SW19.

Our favourite look was Sienna Miller’s blue, slouchy pinstripe suit from Ralph Lauren - who have been clothing the ball girls, boys and umpires of Wimbledon since 2006! - the Brit actress and model teamed her suit with black shades and chunky 70’s inspired platforms.

We also loved Hollywood actress Jessica Alba’s sleeveless beige trouser suit – which she wore oversized with the sweetest of accessories – her 6-year-old son Hayes!

Next up we gave top scores to Lady Amelia Windsor’s butterfly print dress with shoulder ties; very feminine and cute at the same time. Prince Edward’s granddaughter who is 43rd in line to the throne (we don’t see her being Queen anytime soon!) paired the look with tortoiseshell sunglasses and dainty gold jewellery.

Elsewhere, TV presenter Alexa Chung looked effortlessly cool in laid back denim with a beige shirt and purple sweater hung over her shoulders.

LETTUCE SALSA WRAPS

Summer is upon us, which can only mean one thing, salads galore! When the sun is out everybody seems that little bit happier and motivated to kick start their summer healthy eating regime. Summer is all about the light and easy meals that leaves your stomach flat and keeps you refreshed throughout the day.

These salsa wraps are an excellent light spin on carb heavy foods by Ella Woodward (author of ‘Deliciously Ella’.) By replacing the wraps with lettuce leaves that add crunch and juiciness to the day. This dish is so simply satisfying and has an excellent blend of flavours made from a mixture of raw ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

• 8 big leaves of butter lettuce (the softest type of lettuce)

• 2 big tomatoes

• 1 red pepper

• 1 avocado

• 1/2 a cup of sweetcorn

• 1/2 a cup of mixed beansprouts (if you don’t have these use chickpeas)

• A handful of fresh basil leaves

• 1 lemon

• Extra virgin olive oil

• Salt

METHOD

1. Chop the avocado, tomatoes and red pepper (making sure to remove the seeds) into quarters.

2. Chop the basil leaves into fine pieces and mix the chopped ingredients into a bowl with the sweetcorn and beansprouts.

3. Squeeze the lemon over the mixed ingredients and stir in with olive oil and salt to preference.

4. Wash the leaves thoroughly and fill them with the salsa

5. Garnish with lemon and relax in the sun.

WINE MATCH

Asking which wine to pair with salad is a bit like asking which wine to pair with meat or fish, there´s no single answer. It totally depends on the type of leaves, vegetables and dressings you use.

The main standout ingredients for Ella´s Lettuce Salsa Wraps are red peppers, avocado and lemon. Great all-rounders for these light ingredients are fruity whites such as Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc as well as fruity rosés. A Pinot Noir, with accents of crabapple, watermelon, raspberries, and strawberries, is a cool, crisp and perfectly suited accompaniment.

Tracing the recipe back to its Mexican roots, if you are planning on having a party and serving these wraps Margarita cocktails with either salt or sugar rimmed glasses would go down very nicely.

With darker undertone to the previous film with horror director Ben Wheatley from films such as ‘Kill List’ and ‘A Field in England’ enlisted to take on ‘Meg 2’ - be prepared for lots of gruesome gore and lots of jumping off your seat.

From Warner Bros. Studios & New Line Cinema, this movie was primarily shot in the UK with location scenes shot in Asia. Out nationwide in cinemas on August 4th. Meg-nificient viewing for the Summer Holidays.

LOVE & LIGHT – TOM SPEIGHT

Brit solo artist Tom Speight’s latest album, ‘Love & Light’ is out on August 11th.

The album is a powerful exploration of love, loss, and hope, delving deep into his own personal experiences and emotions, with tracks like ‘Let Go’, which was added to Radio 2’s New To 2 playlist. Continuing to pay homage to some of Tom’s biggest inspirations, including Damien Rice, Sufjan Stevens, and John Mayer, whilst also exploring fresh territory reminiscent of Dermot Kennedy and Tom Grennan, opening single ‘The One’ showcases Tom’s exceptional lyrical talents, drawing comparisons to Tom Odell’s introspective approach, and has quickly caught the attention of the Independent’s track of the week, with more praise from the likes of Wonderland, METAL, Headliner, and Music News.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

SR: Can you tell us about your new album ‘Love & Light’ out on August 11th?

Tom: It dives a bit deeper than my previous albums, it’s more about family relationships and grief. Plus lots of love songs – a much bigger scope with much more universal truths.

SR: What’s your favourite track and why?

Tom: I am really proud of ‘Wonderful Wonder’ it’s a timeless track and is all about my sister. She doesn’t even know yet…. so this will be an exciting reveal!

SR: Who are your greatest music inspirations?

Tom: I am a huge fan of Damien Rice, Sufjan Stevens, John Mayer, Dermot Kennedy and Tom Grennan. Having met Paul McCartney of The Beatles (who was both charming and inspiring by the way!) and touring with The Stereophonics I have been so lucky to meet the all time “greats”. It’s always said “never meet your heroes” but I learnt so much from Kelly and The Stereophonics and they lived up to everything I imagined them to be!

SR: What is new about Love & Light?

Tom: I’ve touched on things in this record that I’ve never spoken about before; it’s, without doubt, my most personal to date.

SR: Tell us about the lead single?

Tom: ‘Trick Of The Light’ was one of the quickest songs I’ve ever written. Co-written with Matt Hales we had a burst of inspiration after I came up with the guitar riff. It’s a song about the initial meeting of someone when they seem out of this world… the feeling of, is this person even real? Sonically inspired by War On Drugs & Springsteen with the Synths & Wall of Sound approach. I think it’s going to be a huge live song for me.

SR: You are also an ambassador for Crohn’s & Colitis, what was it like for you finding out you had Crohn’s in 2006?

Tom: It was hard I am not going to lie. But longevity is all that I wanted. And now it’s been 17 years I feel ready to speak out about my story and hopefully inspire others living with

the disease.

SR: How has the disease shaped you as a person and an artist?

Tom: I am always optimistic and hopeful. And happy to pass this on.

SR: Was it hard coming out to the public on IBD day this year… obviously bowels and rock & roll don’t normally go hand in hand?

Tom: I really didn’t want it to seem like a “poor me” scenario. I knew in 2006 and waited 17

years to reveal all about my illness as I wanted to live with the disease before I came out as saying “Hey this me” and giving other sufferers the confidence to live their lives in full. I wanted to live it all first and then be completely honest and

genuine about how I’ve coped with the disease.

BEATING BURNOUT

Are you feeling tired? Unable to do much? Don’t really feel like doing anything at all? Have people thrown around the word ‘lazy’ when talking about you? If this sounds familiar, then welcome to the world of burnout. Laziness and burnout can often get put into the same box; however, they are not the same thing. Burnout is the state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion, caused by stress that is difficult to handle. Whether it be because of work, the kids, or poor self-care, burnout is a common problem, and now is the time to solve it!

Burnout can be caused by many things but can also be resolved through important techniques. Take this time to think about your life and focus on your own wellbeing while we walk through the world of burnout. What would you do if you could start fresh today with no burdens or responsibilities? The constant pressure to perform multiple tasks perfectly is one of the main causes of burnout. On the surface, these may not feel like burdens, however, they are responsibilities. On the other hand, you may have plenty of burdens in your life that you aren’t actually responsible for. In life, you are responsible for many things; your kids, your work, your own personal wellbeing. These are the things that, even though they may cause immense amounts of pressure, are parts of you that you want to do your best at. However, when it comes to burnout, it’s the burdens that cause real damage. When you feel pressure to do something you don’t want, and actually don’t need to do, it takes a toll on your emotional, physical, and mental health, which ultimately leads to burnout, which in turn, leads to you not being able to handle your responsibilities.

L ISTEN TO YOUR BODY

By distinguishing and cutting out the burdens in your life, you will be one step closer to defeating burnout! As mentioned before, feeling burnt out can be confused for many things, for example, laziness, weakness, and even being a quitter. Feeling burnt out is your body’s way of telling you to stop, and your body is never wrong! Why go through life feeling miserable and suffering when you clearly need to reexamine certain aspects of what you’re doing, just so you can seem tough? There is no such thing as a weak person. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Someone might get burnt out because of work problems, while someone else might become burnt out because of issues with the kids. Just remember, if you find yourself displaying the symptoms of burn out, you are not lazy, weak, or a quitter. You are only human.

DIG DEEP

So, what is the best way of facing burnout head-on? By figuring out what is stressing you. It’s easy to say, ‘The kids are really stressing me out!’. However, once you dig a little deeper, you’ll realise that it isn’t the kids stressing you out, it’s the fact you haven’t prioritised time to yourself and now feel overwhelmed by all your responsibilities having had no time to rest. You could also say, ‘This work assignment is causing me so much stress!’, but is it really the assignment, or is the stress coming from the fact that you didn’t leave enough time to do it because you were busy doing more fun things?

Self-awareness is a skill that comes with time and practise, and often makes us look at ourselves in a less flattering light. We may not want to admit it, but sometimes we create way too much unnecessary stress for ourselves. So, take some time to think about what is really causing you to feel stressed, and stop burnout in its tracks.

MOTIVATE YOURSELF

Next up, we have a key word that is thrown around without much thought. Motivation. Getting motivated isn’t as easy as some people make it out to be. A year ago, you may have found getting out of bed in the mornings easy, because there were plenty of things you were motivated to do, but now, no matter how hard you work, you can’t quite find the motivation to get excited about the day. These are clear signs of burnout, and your permission to take a much-needed break (if it’s possible). Finding a new motivation is difficult to do when you’re stuck repeating the same soul-crushing tasks every day. If possible, take some time to find yourself again, and most importantly find your passion. We all have things we don’t want to do every day, but being motivated by something personally important, no matter how big or small, can make doing those difficult things much easier.

GET TALKING

Finally, going through anything in life alone is never the way, and this is the same when you’re suffering from burnout. Communication, communication, communication. The inability to speak up and say no to things that are creating stress is one of the main causes of someone burning out. Being tasked with unnecessary jobs, getting blamed for other people’s mistakes, and not feeling heard or appreciated can cause anyone to shut down. Talking to the people in your life about how you’re feeling can lessen the load that you’re carrying. A burden shared is a burden halved! The people who love you will do what they can to help when you’re struggling. Utilise their help and allow yourself to be saved every once in a while. Communicate your wants and needs to the people in your life, and trust that it’s ok to take a break.

An indulgent new tapas and steak restaurant opened in the heart of Esher. The vast selection of authentic Spanish dishes will tantalise the taste buds and will ensure you return again and again to sample the full menu.

THE VICTORIA OXSHOTT

Wowed would be an understatement. Everything about our recent experience at The Victoria Oxshott was exquisite. From the warm welcome by staff, to world class cocktails, 5 star food with the finest, freshest ingredients, daring to be different starters, mains and desserts. Every minute was magical.

We were booked in for a Wednesday night, which also happened to be The Victoria’s regular ‘Live Music’ night, luckily for us. To be serenaded on arrival with a talented singer/ guitarist and a room full of happy guests plus the warmest of welcomes by all the staff – we knew we were in for a treat. Our waitress for the evening was the lovely general manager Louise, who asked us if we fancied a pre-dinner drink at the bar. We took her up on her offer and went for the delightful Summer cocktail options of a Lychee Martini and a Raspberry Margarita

– both were excellent and presented beautifully with salt and sugar rims and fruit garnishes.

SENSATIONAL STARTERS

The menu we were presented with was a one page, no frills, simplistic yet enticing selection of the Best of British. Among the tantalising selection of Starters were The Victoria’s signature Mushroom Parfait, Devils on Horseback, Beer Battered Oysters with Seaweed Mayonnaise and Violet Artichoke with Birkswell, Pickled Grape and Sorrel.

After much deliberation, we opted for the Smoked Chalk Stream Trout Bilini accompanied with Caviar and Pickled Lemon

- which was delicious and looked more like a work of art than a Starter. The portion size was incredibly generous too. Every morsel was finished and you could really tell the freshness of the fish, caviar and all the ingredients on this standout dish.

We also chose the Crispy Pigs Head as our second starter. A taste explosion consisting of succulent pork head filling with a crispy crumb coating on the exterior, accompanied with a delicious tangy piccalilli, carrot and cucumber garnish, adding a twist of flavour to this divine dish that looked almost as good as it tasted!

MASTERFUL MAINS

Despite being enticed by the look of the Classic Fish & Triple Cooked Chips, Saddleback Pork Chop and the Wild Halibut, all firm favourites on the menu, we went for the highly recommended Sladesdown Farm Breast & Leg of Duck, with a generous portion of breast and 6 heavenly slices of leg meat, cooked perfectly rare, ridiculously soft and succulent! The sweet apricot jus was a heavenly accompaniment to this dish as were the perfectly cooked al dente carrots and Scottish Gerloes. However, the most amazing standout dish of the night was The Hereford Beef Sirloin, with the tenderest meat we have ever tried on the Short Rib which came on the side with flavoursome Smoked Bone Marrow, Tropea Onions and Pale Ale. It was served perfectly

medium rare as requested and our taster referred to this Sirloin as “melt in the mouth doesn’t even come close, it was the softest, finest, most succulent steak I have ever tasted! The flavours were immense!”

We chose the Triple Cooked Chips as a side – which went with the Steak & Duck dishes perfectly.

Other sides on offer include New Season Jersey Royals with Seaweed Butter, Green Beans with Myatts Farm Peach and Hazelnuts or Broccoli with Chilli & Anchovy Butter.

DELECTABLE DESSERTS

With 6 enticing dessert options to choose from including Apricot Bakewell Tart with Yoghurt Ice-Cream, Banoffee Pie Souffle and a deconstructed Strawberry “Victoria” Sponge and filling up fast we opted to share!

We went for the Black Forest, Cherry and Liquor Ice-Cream, which was presented beautifully, with a cake, mousse and black cherry section to the dessert –giving a burst of favour every mouthful.

Hats off to chef Matt Larcombe and his dessert/patisserie chef Tracy Jutt – this was mindblowing.

FAT DUCK & SAVOY HERITAGE

The Victoria in Oxshott was lovingly renovated and given a makeover back in 2021, courtesy of two leading lights from the UK hospitality industry; Simon King and Chef Matt Larcombe. The dynamic duo, who met whilst working for Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck Group several years ago, both share a passion for both Great British produce and offering the best service.

Since its inauguration; they have been welcoming in locals and those from

further afield with fantastic feedback. The Guardian’s food critic Grace Dent said of her recent dining experience; “The finest Beef Wellington I will ever have in my lifetime,” while only last month The Victoria made The Times shortlist for the ‘30 Best Sunday Roasts’ in Great Britain as well as receiving two Triple AA Rosettes.

Given their experience, from Gordon Ramsay to The Ritz to The Savoy, this is hardly surprising to achieve such rave reviews and award nods!

Matt and Simon told us they wanted to create a pub the locals can be proud of, and boy, have they done us proud.

STEEPED IN HISTORY

The Victoria dates back to the 1800’s and over the years has taken many guises. From a Thai restaurant, to a Brasserie, but always at its heart has been ‘the great village pub’.

Whilst The Victoria offers fantastic food, they have managed to keep that traditional, quintessential pub atmosphere too. Major sporting events on Terrestrial TV are shown here too as they are Sky Sport/BT Sport licensed.

“The theme was always Great British pub,” Simon divulged. ”Whilst the food is indeed a major draw here, the feeling that you are welcome to pop in whatever time of day or evening and enjoy a pint or ale on tap is paramount to our vision.” Whether it’s the cocktail menu that takes your fancy, a good wine, hearty pub grub, delectable dining or something more traditional, it is clear no detail has been missed here – there is indeed something for everyone.

NEW AL FRESCO DINING

The Victoria Oxshott recently revealed their stunning new garden, outdoor bar and al fresco dining area in June 2023. Spanning across a lower and middle terrace, the newly renovated garden area offers a flower-filled space where guests can enjoy award winning gastronomy and drinks from The Victoria Oxshott. You can order from the Bar Snacks Menu or the Main A La Carte Menu when dining outside this Summer. Or just pop in for much needed Summer refreshments!

SUMMER LOVING!

Holidays, BBQ’s, day trips, floaty Summer dresses, Birthday celebrations…there are so many things I love about this Season. Last month, I started off with a very unique Birthday celebration for my Mum and Godsister. We had a heart warming Mother and daughter gut health mindfulness lunch, with a group of 6 of us which was hosted by Dr Sunni Patel. Dr Sunni Patel is a health coach with a PhD in risk factors for disease, and a specialist interest in Gut Health. He is also trained as a culinary medicine coach and aims to educate, entertain and spread the power of food nutrition and wellness. Our day started by sitting in a dimly lit calm room to gather our thoughts. Our senses were awakened with an elderflower spritz with lemongrass, apple and cinnamon followed by some canapés. We carried out a water colour painting session where we painted freely using 3 colours of our choice. Lunch was then served with a stunning

green themed tablescape filled with herbs and infused water, created by none other than my Mum. Dr Patel explained beautifully about all the foods we were consuming and how they were beneficial to us. We started off with a take on the Tom Yum soup with a vegan gyoza. We were able to forage our own herbs into the soup with some very cute mini clippers. We then had a Thai inspired salad followed by a Malaysian curry with a poem that had been put into a poppadum, it was a such a beautiful touch. In between courses we had a grape granita with ginger syrup, which was served blindfolded with music to enhance the experience. My favorite was the desert - carrot halwa with pistachio cream, and baklava crumb, which contained no added refined sugar but tasted incredible. I came away feeling so satisfied and enlightened. The saying comes to mind, full belly full heart!

FIT FAM

Whilst aiming to continue being mindful with health and fitness throughout the Summer, I have really been enjoying Dash drinks. These are made by infusing sparkling water with real wonky fruit, which other places say no to. By accepting the misfits this brand are helping to fight food waste. The piece de résistance is zero calories, preservatives or added sugar. If

you haven’t tried the new Grapefruit flavor then you must – its ultimately refreshing. With the kids being off school for 9 weeks, I might be adding a dash of gin in mine too!

As many of you know I am a huge fan of reformer Pilates. After having trained as a physio myself, I have seen firsthand how beneficial it can be. I had a large diastasis after my second child and after being committed to regular exercise for the last 9 months, I can finally say that it has healed up well. I was so pleased to hear that a new reformer pilates studio opened up in Banstead called Wellness Pilates. It’s a small studio with 6 beds, which actually is a good thing as it means the teacher is able to focus on individuals more easily. The interior is on point with a modern, fresh feel and a large changing area with a shower. They have various levels of classes. You will find me at the intermediate class, which is definitely one to get your heart pumping! The owner and founder Charlie Carvalho, who has nearly 10 years experience under her belt, challenges you but is also very hands on in her approach, making sure the alignment of your body is perfect. Finally, a studio that challenges you in the right way!

GRECIAN GODDESS

Trying to get into shape at one of the hottest classes in Surrey made me feel body confident on our recent trip to Cyprus. It was bittersweet as the reason for going was to attend my Great-Grandma’s 1 year memorial since passing. She was 109 so she lived a very long life. Her mother lived to 110, so if the genes are anything to go by then I’ve got a good chance! It was a beautiful day celebrating her life and catching up with family that I had not seen for years. We wanted a base to stay whilst we were there so thought Parklane Limassol was perfect. We usually stay in our family home or at the Four Seasons so thought we would mix it up a bit. We were recommended this hotel due to the kid’s facilities. It definitely did not disappoint. It had the most impressive kids club and water play area that I have ever seen. We booked the Family 2 bed Room but we were kindly upgraded to the family 2 bed suite. I’m not sure what the difference was but the balcony was huge. Unfortunately due to the heat wave rippling through Europe at the time, we were unable to enjoy it fully. I loved the Bulgari amenities in the bathroom, one of my favorite scents – Eau De Vert. The lack of bathroom door was a bit strange and too open plan for me. The room was impeccably clean,

and for the first time I’ve ever encountered, they had enough hangers for our clothes for the entirety of our stay. We always start the holiday with room service to relax on the day we arrive. This was on pointeverything was cooked to perfection and they had a great selection (unlike other European hotels that we have been to). I have to say overall the service was a bit hit and miss, they were a little slow at the breakfast buffet and by the pool but Nammos and LPM certainly made up for this. Our highlight was the gastronomic experience and service we had at LPM, which was utterly exquisite and highlighted the warmth of the Cypriot culture that we all know and love

Did you know statistically August is the most popular month to meet a potential partner? Most people are spending a lot more time outside the house socially, enjoying the longer lighter evenings and the joy that a lovely summer brings.

As July was a washout I’m told by my weather forecaster friends that August is going to bring the sun and with the sun comes the single people. Now is a great time to ask your friends to set you up on a blind date. I recommend doing this at least once every 3 months. Your friends are a free, untapped source of dating networks and it’s highly likely that someone will know someone who is perfect for you.

I’m not a big believer in a coffee as a form of a date but I do believe in a coffee ‘meet’ before an official date to see if there is chemistry (especially if you have met online).

I realise coffee meets are tempting but if both of you only have a quick 30 minute allocated spot it’s a lot of pressure and can lead to the jitters from all the caffeine.

AUGUST LOVELIES

I recommend meeting near a park, grabbing a takeaway cuppa and walking round a park talking. There is something magical about walking and talking and getting to know someone. Much more relaxed and you get a better feel for someone when they are moving.

August is the time for coffee and walk meets. Get your steps in and maybe meet you match. Win win!

TOP DATING TIPS

Ladies, you can absolutely initiate a coffee meet. BUT For the date, you must let the man woo you. You must wait and let him ask you. If he doesn’t within 3 days of the coffee meet, move on. He isn’t that into you. Don’t get drawn into a long text chats for weeks on end. He is stringing you along to pass the time. Don’t get invested and think, if you just wait long enough something special may happen between you both, it won’t. Men are wonderful, simple beings. If they like you they are asking you out. Simple. I’m a hopeless romantic too but after nearly a decade working in dating let me tell you a few golden nuggets.

• You can’t scare him off by having the ‘chat’ too soon. If he runs away, he was always going to. Better that you find out sooner rather than later.

• If he hasn’t asked you on a second date within a week of the first then move on. He isn’t going to. Cut it off. Find someone who adores you and cannot wait to see you again.

• If you are chatting online and he hasn’t arranged a meet up within 2 weeks, you ask him for a coffee meet. If he can’t find a time within the following week to meet up, move on! He is wasting your time. Men who are serious want to meet up.

• Do not pay half. If you want to know if you are a ‘pass the time’ date or a genuine option for him, you can tell….if he pays.

• Show him your respect yourself enough to be wooed. Old fashioned romance.

You owe him nothing. Your time getting ready and travelling to the date and your presence at the date was valuable enough. Never feel pressured. Women are still paid 85p to every Man’s £1 so we can talk about equal rights when women finally have equal pay!

• Most men will try their luck and sleep with you on the first date. DONT! Even if they say they will respect you, feed you with all the lines, love bomb you, don’t fall for it.

• Remember, no woman has ever regretted NOT sleeping with a man! Many have woken up and then been ghosted and spend days and weeks crying over a man. Don’t be that woman. Don’t waste your tears and don’t blame a guy for trying. Doesn’t necessarily mean he is a bad guy.

And finally to summarise, don’t judge them on how much you like them. Judge them on how much effort they put into wanting to see you, thinking about a date, organising a date, catering for your needs. People always show you who they are fairly early on.

Believe them. Now go forth and meet your match! If you follow my tips and this column you can’t go far wrong.

WE LOVE THE NEW SINGLE, WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?

Perhaps the original inspiration came from my kids, as they are very much into the concept of superheroes. However, I started thinking about the superhuman powers that we women possess and often fail to recognise. Women are resilient, noble and tireless - a combination of traits that makes us unstoppable. I wanted to recognise that female empowerment and to rejoice in womanhood.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH FAT JOE?

We had a lot of lobbying to recruit Joe for this effort - but once he understood the nature of the project and heard our initial demo of the song, he was ready to join up for the effort. In the studio and on the video set, he was both a delight as well as super professional, but with the funniest stories. Indeed, I am not sure that Joe's own fans truly appreciate as to how humorous that he can be!

I certainly hope so! And frankly, if it's not, it should be!

While I am still grateful to Anastacia and her team for choosing me as their opening act, for a variety of reasons that I don't need to elaborate, we only got to perform roughly half of the scheduled dates. YOUR MUSIC HAS A COOL ELECTRONIC DANCE VIBE – DO YOU LIKE PRODUCING UPLIFTING MUSIC?

I am fairly sure that just about anyone who has more than a few minutes of exposure to me comes away from the interaction with a recognition that I am unapologetically a positive energy person. I don't like dwelling on negative sentiments: and the emotion which I most highly value, which dominates my life, is LOVE. It should come as no surprise then that various ruminations on this topic tend to dominate my discography - and I further think that if you're going to make music, you might as well be able to dance to it!

WHAT WAS IT LIKE COLLABORATING WITH DAMON SHARPE?

Damon is simply a magnificent partner and collaborator in a number of respects. First, he has an astoundingly broad scope of knowledge as to almost all aspects of the music industry, making him something of a ‘One Stop Shop’ in terms of my professional education. Secondly, he is a fabulous producer who has an enviable work ethic: and I have learned a lot about the need to devote oneself daily to one's craft from Damon's example. Finally, on an interpersonal level, I'm not sure that I know many men who are more forthright, transparent and giving than Damon Sharpe. I've already got a number of brothers from my birth family, but Damon has earned such standing in my life.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING TOUR?

Right now I am halfway through a three week July tour of Britain, with performances in a number of outdoor venues in England and Wales (as well as one London club show). However and in regard to latter 2023, we are in end stage negotiations to be part of my first arena tour of Britain and Ireland - in the hope that I will be playing before what are easily my largest audiences ever during the coming Autumn. Stay tuned!

WHO HAVE BEEN YOUR GREATEST ROLE MODELS AND WHY?

My greatest role model as a person would have to be my mother, who fled Iran as a widow but with the responsibility of raising her thirteen kids. My father, who was part of the Shah's oil administration, died prematurely of a heart attack from the stresses imposed on my family by the fundamentalist regime in Iran. Dispossessed of our familial wealth, my mother fled Iran with almost no wherewithal and managed to provide for us kids under all circumstances. Her example of determination and perseverance has had a deeply profound impact on my psyche.

On a professional level, my answer is probably more surprising. My partner Guy is not only the love of my life, but is further someone who is broadly

recognised at having excelled in a number of different professional and entrepreneurial fields. He has set a terrific example for me in terms of his attention to detail, dedication to particular tasks at hand and also the importance of best ideas.

IF YOU ONLY HAD TO TAKE 3 THINGS TO A DESERT ISLAND, WHAT WOULD THEY BE AND WHY?

1. My Spectrum Essentials brand Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, which goes with me on every overnight trip.

2. My partner Guy, as almost everyone who knows him would have him on their list of the five people they would call in order to get out of an Afghani jail.

3. I somewhat obviously would take our Pilatus 12 aircraft - as it is capable of taking off from the hardened beach of a desert island whenever we got bored with tropical life!

Becoming a musician was something to which I really never aspired as a youth. It is no surprise that I have a deep and abiding interest in health

& wellness, which is what I enjoyed before embarking on the singing career. But I am sufficiently fascinated by the field such that at some point I will no doubt re-engage with some type of health & wellness enterprise.

WHAT ARE YOUR BEST CHARACTER TRAITS?

My Guy, who knows me better than anyone, says that my best traits are my empathy, compassion and devotion to others. But I really don't think of these so much as traits as much as the ramifications of being raised in my huge but very tightly-knit family.

AND YOUR WORST HABIT?

Hands down, it would be my tendency to procrastinate. Sometimes I don't think that I would get anything done unless someone stuck a deadline under my nose.

ASHTEAD CROWNS 2023 PADEL CHAMPS

Ashtead Squash and Tennis Club held the finals of its annual Padel tournament on Sunday 3rd July, with the games played out in front of a sizeable crowd in the sunshine. The club’s Padel court was installed in October 2020 and has proved a huge hit with the club’s existing members, as well as attracting many more new ones.

The action on Sunday started with the Ladies Final, with Katie Jenkins and Vikki Arkinstall proving too strong for Debbie Reynolds and Lindsay Kearney. For the second year in succession, Jenkins and Arkinstall took both sets in the final without dropping a game.

In the Mixed Doubles final, the ladies’ winners found themselves on opposite sides of the net, as Jenkins paired up with Gareth Osgood and Arkinstall with Robbie Stewart for a match that looked hard to call on paper.

In the end, Arkinstall and Stewart ran out 6-3, 6-2 winners in an entertaining contest. The climax of the day was the men’s final, which pitted Ben and Harry Plumb against Dan West and the veteran, Alan Rutland. The young Plumb boys took the first set 6-1, only for West and Rutland to level it up by taking the second set 6-4. But then, with the game finely poised at 2-1 to the Plumbs in the third set, Harry turned his ankle and was unable to continue, so the title went to West and Rutland.

In the plate finals for first-round losers, Sheila Fox and Margaret Alldridge took the ladies title 6-1, 6-2. The Mixed went to Jenny Sebastian and Sean Davies (6-2, 3-6, 6-2). And in the men’s, father and son team Simon and Callum Thorogood came from a set and 1-5 down to win 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.

“Once again, a large crowd has turned out for the finals and been rewarded with a feast of padel,” said tournament organiser, Rachael Burgess. “The standard of play has improved so much in the last 12 months. It’s great to see so many people getting involved and getting better.”
