WELCOME SPRING!
HAT A winter we’ve had! From a polar vortex to a long-awaited snow day in January, followed by an ice storm that left many stranded overnight, it has certainly been a season to remember. Then, a beautiful 75-degree weekend in early February teased us before temperatures plummeted back into the 30s. Those freezing temperatures make me even more excited and ready for spring! It’s my favorite time of year in Georgia, when the trees begin blooming, the birds start singing, and the days start getting longer. While we could do without the pollen, it’s all part of the process of renewal.
Everyone is Irish at Suwanee Beer Fest - coming March 15th to Suwanee's Town Center Park.
We are excited to bring you our March/ April issue, featuring our annual Camp Guide , p. 24, packed with a variety of incredible day and overnight camps, designed to give kids unforgettable experiences and lifelong skills. Whether your child loves sports, science, dance, drama, or art, or is ready for the adventure and growth that comes with overnight camp, our guide is filled with great options to help you choose the perfect camp. On p. 31, we spotlight Camp Southern Ground , founded by Zac Brown and located in Fayetteville, GA, for its unique offerings including inclusive camps for children with developmental and cognitive challenges, as well as programs for veterans and their families. In this issue, we also highlight some inspiring businesses and individuals in our community. Suwanee-based Infinity Group , p. 10, has grown to over 100 employees in just 11 years, expanding its services and making a significant impact. Beto’s Tacos is getting ready to celebrate their sixth
anniversary in May, with six locations since their flagship restaurant in Suwanee. Read their story on p. 37 to learn how hard work, perseverance and dedication have helped
Beto achieve his dreams. And if you’ve ever visited Schlotzsky’s Deli in Suwanee, you’ve likely encountered owner Rutesh Shah . On p. 72, get to know Rutesh in our Faces Of Suwanee interview.
Our Cutest Pup contest had a huge turnout, with 82 adorable entries. It was a close contest, but in the end, Louis V, a Maltipoo, took home the win! Turn to p. 18 to meet Louis V and the other pups that earned the top spots in the contest. With the warmer weather, now is the perfect time to take your furry friend on an adventure. Turn to p. 20 for our Doggies Day Out column, with dog parks, pet-friendly restaurants and breweries, and mustvisit spots to treat your pup.
One of our community’s biggest annual events, Suwanee Beer Fest , returns to Town Center Park on March 15! This celebration of craft beer, St. Paddy’s Day, and community spirit was voted the Best Beer Fest in the country by USA Today readers in 2022 and is hoping to reclaim the title this year. Our full Beer Fest Guide (p. 44) offers a behindthe-scenes look at how it all comes together, highlights new breweries, and showcases the festival vendors and sponsors. A portion of proceeds will once again support Cooper’s Crew, funding scholarships for high school seniors facing adversity and raising money for clear cell sarcoma research.
We hope you enjoy this issue and have a fantastic spring!

Fishing for Fun
WATCHING THE Gwinnett Stripers play at Coolray Field is the perfect recreational activity. There’s no better place to see future MLB players up close for a reasonable price; you may even catch a current major leaguer on a rehab assignment! Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan or someone that’s just starting to take interest, there’s something for everyone. The park itself is topnotch, and with deals like Thirsty Thursdays and weekend giveaway events for bobbleheads and shirts, a memorable experience is inevitable! Coolray Field has a variety of food and drinks (but sticking with the traditional hot dog and peanuts is a no-brainer) It’s a great place to take the family, spend time with friends, or — like me — catch an occasional game solo on the way home from work. I’ve been a fan and going to games since I moved to Gwinnett over 10 years ago, so I can attest that Gwinnett Stripers’ games are a prime example of America’s Pastime. Coolray Field is located at One Braves Ave., Lawrenceville, GA 30049.

Infinity Group
SUWANEE BUSINESS IS A ONE-STOP SHOP FOR ALL RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL NEEDS SERVICING NORTH GEORGIA AND METRO ATLANTA
Story by Francesca Augello / Photos by Jon Rogers
NFINITY GROUP has been around since 2014, but their revolutionary rebranding is only a little over a year in the works, and it has redefined the business into a one-stop shop for all residential and commercial needs. Previously known as Infinity Building Solutions, owners and founders John Urban and Tyson Baker applied their combined 70 years of experience in the HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general contracting fields. After meeting at a previous job, they realized their abilities, experience, and tenacity within the building solutions world could contribute to something more. This revelation turned into a dream to own their own business, and before they knew it, the Infinity Group was born. Fast-forward a decade, and the Infinity Group recently celebrated their
10th anniversary and has reached the 100-employee mark — two milestones that emphasize the company’s longevity and connectivity. On top of expanding their resumé, Infinity Group is also a member of IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors) and has sent at least a dozen people through the four-year trade school program. In addition, they're members of ASHRAE, Georgia Manufacturing Alliance, and a NATE Certified company. Infinity Group has grown into a highly respected company that services the North Georgia and metro Atlanta region, and John and Tyson attribute much of this success to being based here in Suwanee. “There's a lot of industry here; it's amazing when you start looking around… There's all kinds of manufacturing and distribution centers, so there's a lot centrally located here that makes our lives easier. Ultimately, we're trying to serve
“ IF IT'S WITHIN THE BUILDING ENVELOPE WE EITHER WORK ON IT, SERVICE IT, OR MANUFACTURE IT. THERE'S REALLY NOTHING THAT WE CAN’T TAKE CARE OF OR INSTALL.”
the local market, but we're leveraging our businesses to better serve the area. We're actually working with the state of Georgia on our exports, but the one thing we don't want to forget is the local support and business. We have a loyal customer base, and we like working with them.” Infinity Group furthers this notion by supporting local community efforts wherever they can, including sponsoring the Boy Scouts of America’s Eagle Scout Recognition Program, charity golf tournaments, and local baseball and swim teams.
Building the Business
➤ It’s been an exciting year for Infinity Group. They’ve “split building solutions from one company into four, becoming almost a one-stop shop.” What used to be Infinity Building Solutions is now Infinity Group with multiple service branches: Infinity Project Solutions (General Contracting), Infinity Comfort Solutions
(HVAC/Mechanical), Infinity Control Solutions (Electric), and Infinity Panel Solutions (Panel Installation/Maintenance). This redesign is beneficial in organizing the customer’s service needs, as well as categorizing the Infinity Group’s skill set.
According to John and Tyson, they’re “getting to the point where we can do everything. We can repaint your house, we can renovate it, we can install pretty much anything you might need … and we can now do that on the residential and commercial front, so if it's within the building envelope we either work on it, service it, or manufacture it. There's really nothing that we can’t take care of or install.”
This transition didn’t happen overnight, however. Infinity Group’s evolution can best be described as a domino effect; their company is a direct result of their customers' growing demands. Their adaptability, dedication to the client, and undeniable knowledge has propelled Infinity Group into a category all its own — bouncing between commercial and residential projects and forming new businesses in the process.
To think this all began because two men looked at each other and said, “If I’m going to work this hard, I’ll do it for myself” is nothing short of an inspiring success story.
Both John and Tyson agree their favorite part of their journey with the Infinity Group has been building it and watching it grow. “Watching it get bigger and getting the reputation that we have with satisfied, loyal customers has been [our] favorite part of this. It's gratifying since everything we do — whether that’s shipping products or fixing things — is tangible. There's something to be said for that, because at the end of the day, there's the physical proof that we've done something.” When asked how they would most like the Infinity Group to be remembered they responded, “We would just like to have the reputation of a fair and good contractor; that people are comfortable using us, that they recommend us, and that they would come back to us
themselves… all in all being trusted by the community at large.”
There’s no denying that Infinity Group is one of a kind. Whether you’re looking for assistance from a personable team of experts, seeking a company that has boundless passion and knowledge of the craft, or on the hunt to support a locally grown business owned and operated by two salt-ofthe-earth men who’ve made a living out of building things from the ground up, the Infinity Group — and all of its branches — has become a staple in the Suwanee community. ■
Infinity Group is located at 441 Sawmill Court in Suwanee. To learn more, go to InfinityBuilding.Solutions or call 770-291-8995.

INVESTMENT STRATEGIES
BY: Bill and Cindi Porter, AILERON INVESTMENT
Is this a good time to invest in U.S. stocks? If so, why?
MOST LIKELY YES, BUT IT DEPENDS ON YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION.
Regardless of one’s personal political preferences, for investors the recent presidential election was both decisive and possibly of major consequence. A pro-America, pro-business administration, calling for less governmental regulations and expenses may provide a positive environment for expanded economic development.
However, no government headed by either party or its philosophical agenda produces anything. Government can hinder but not create growth. Only American businesses create jobs as well as national, corporate, and individual wealth. And it is here that good news may offer a plus for our portfolios.
American worker productivity is on the rise and the government is now poised to create an atmosphere to further promote its expansion.1 When the total output produced by American workers expands, the economic pie is larger. As a result, we can have more slices, bigger slices, or both.
U.S. productivity has been on the decline for nearly 20 years.1 Now, however, it appears that may reverse. Besides Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology, and robots, the Covid disruption caused the advent of remote work and major job shuffles. An inordinate number of workers were repositioned into jobs for which they were ultimately better suited and thus became more productive.2
Additionally, the recent explosion of new businesses has enhanced productivity by replacing many of the least efficient and uncompetitive companies.2 While there is always the possibility of a major unforeseen event which could sidetrack our economy, it does appear to be a promising time to invest in American stocks. Historically, the S&P 500 has been positive 73% of the time.3
A conversation with your trusted investment advisor may be helpful in planning your investment strategy. ■

REAL ESTATE AND MARKET TRENDS
t’s time to settle in on the porch, grab a warm cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest in our local real estate market! Whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or just stay in the loop, here's what’s happening in our backyard. Suwanee’s housing market is shifting. Home prices continue to climb, but homes are sitting longer on the market. Inventory is increasing, yet demand is still strong enough to keep it a seller’s market — for now. Suwanee’s market is evolving, and those who adapt will benefit most.
For Sellers: Pricing strategically is more important than ever. With more homes available, buyers have options, and overpricing could leave a property lingering on the market. That said, well-maintained homes with desirable updates are still attracting solid offers.
For Buyers:
There’s finally a little breathing room. More time to shop, more room to negotiate, and better opportunities to find the right home at a fair price.
Suwanee continues to be one of the most desirable places to live. Recognized nationally for its top-rated schools, thriving community, and high quality of life, it’s no surprise that demand for homes here remains strong. Whether you’re looking to buy or sell, understanding these trends will help you make the most of what Suwanee has to offer.

2025 WINNERS!
IF THIS year’s Cutest Pup Contest has taught us one thing, it’s that Suwanee residents LOVE their furry friends. With 82 total submissions and over 1,700 votes, the enthusiasm and support that local readers showed the nominees was overwhelming. All of the pups are adorable, spirited, and have really dedicated fans! After receiving an influx of votes and coming to a nail-biting conclusion, we’re happy to announce this year’s champion is none other than sweet Maltipoo, Louis V! Thank you to all who particpated and congratulations to Louis V!
Louis V WINNER!
Louis V (short for Louis Vuitton) is a cheerful, calm, and free-spirited Maltipoo who became an integral member of the Son family this past October. At only 8 months old, Louis’s social nature is undeniable, and he brings joy to everyone he meets — humans and dogs alike. The Sons (Daniel, Soo, and their kids Nathaniel, Alexander, and Christopher) all care for the pup; however, it’s evident that Louis and his mom, Soo, have the strongest bond. Louis goes everywhere with his family, and has even become Christopher’s soccer team’s unofficial mascot! He loves retrieving balls, going on walks, and snuggling up on his family’s laps at the end of a long day. If you ever see him on the Suwanee Greenway, be sure to say hello!
SECOND PLACE:
ChancHo
Chancho is a fourpound rescue pup that’s 99% sweet and 1% spicy!
THIRD PLACE:
Sadie
Sadie is an English Cream Golden Retriever who loves treats (especially carrots), long walks, and making new friends. She’s a bundle of fun and brings her family a ton of joy!
FOURTH PLACE:
Mr. Brown
Mr. Brown is a nine-year-old Shih Tzu who’s very loving and never meets a stranger!
We’d like to thank these two local businesses that donated amazing gifts and treats to spoil our winner:

CAMP SOUTHERN Ground (CSG) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that “believes camp is more than just fun and games; it’s a place where kids grow, learn, and build lifelong friendships.” Founded by Georgia native and country music star Zac Brown in 2018, this camp is dedicated to “ensuring every camper feels safe, respected, supported, and fully included.” CSG believes that every camper is part of something bigger, and — as Zac says — “Inclusion is at the heart of who we are. When kids learn that we’re all stronger together, they carry that lesson with them forever.”
The 400-acre camp located in Fayetteville, Georgia, provides campers with an environment that promotes selfdiscovery, curiosity, friendship, and independence. The wide variety of camp activities ensure that every camper formulates connections with their peers while exploring their passions. The most popular activities include mountain biking on the new woodland trail, kayaking trips to Lake McIntosh,
Building meaningful connections is a key element in helping the veterans who attend CSG’s Warrior Week.
Camp Warrior PATHH allows veterans to experience fulfilling emotional healing in a way that best suits their needs.
Kids build trust, overcome fear, and have fun on utilities such as CSG’s High Ropes course.

participating in the high ropes challenge course, and zooming down their “Mega Zipline,” but that’s only a glimpse of what CSG has to offer. Whether the kids want to tap into their creative side with “music, arts & crafts, and a culinary program that incorporates fruits and veggies from [their] 11-acre organic garden,” or indulge in the camp’s “miles of tracks, sports fields, spectacular treehouse, or their state-of-the-art facilities for activities like archery,” they’re sure to find their niche at CSG. Being able to accommodate all of the campers’ preferences solidifies CSG as “a place where kids can disconnect from technology and reconnect with each other and the world around them.”
There are endless amounts of creative, exciting activities available to kids at Camp Southern Ground, but their primary focus is — and always will be — the campers.
Matthew “Matty” Cook is CSG’s Camp Director, and he says, “We’re a great fit for any child who’s ready to experience adventure, make new friends, and grow as part of a community of belonging. Whether your child loves the outdoors, creative arts, or is looking to build confidence and independence, they’ll find their place here.” CSG hosts anywhere between 90 to 100 children each week, averaging 720 campers over the entire summer. Their 60% retention rate speaks for itself, and the camp’s affordability is achieved by providing a tier pricing model that can be broken down on their website. Matty says that “generous donors and partner foundations provide
scholarships to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy and growth of CSG.”
One of Camp Southern Ground’s more unique programs is their Inclusion Model “which integrates neurotypical campers with neurodiverse campers to create an environment of mutual learning, understanding, and support.” CSG strives to celebrate all of their campers’ differences, help them create lifelong bonds, and establish a sense of belonging through the integration of children with varied needs and strengths. About a third of the children who attend CSG have either level one or two autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or other developmental and cognitive challenges. CSG’s camp counselors are trained in “working with neurodiverse campers, mental health first aid, behavior development and intervention, and inclusion best practices” to guarantee all kids are properly cared for.
Helping veterans and their families find ways to thrive after their military service is another important facet of CSG’s mission. Not only does CSG host Camp Corral, which “provides a life-changing experience for children of wounded, injured, ill, or fallen military service members,” but they have two camps that cater to veterans specifically. The first, Warrior Week, is “a transformative, seven-day program focused on helping post9/11 veterans find renewed purpose and direction.”
The second
camp, Warrior PATHH (Progressive and Alternative Training for Healing Heroes), is “an intensive, 18-month program that begins with a seven-day onsite initiation at Camp Southern Ground designed to support veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress and combat stress.”
Matty says, “Both programs are grounded in the belief that veterans deserve more than just a ‘thank you for your service’ — they deserve to be supported with tools, support, and community to thrive in life after their military careers.” The themes of inclusion, support, and understanding that lay the framework for their kidcentric summer camps also appear within their veterans programs. This ensures that everyone — no matter their age or background — can gain the capabilities to make the world a more compassionate and understanding place.
It’s evident Camp Southern Ground is focused on improving the lives of the people who attend their camps. The ultimate goal (besides having fun) is that the camp’s attendees gain the tools to implement positive practices and ideologies into their communities once they return home. Providing a welcoming and supportive environment that promotes compassion and empathy is a foundational aspect of CSG’s overarching mission — whether that’s for kids who range from 7-17 years old or veterans of all ages. Zac Brown says, “We’re all stronger when we work together, and we all have something valuable to contribute… It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what you’re facing, you’re part of the family here." Impact of Technology on the Modern Family
You’ve probably noticed how technology has woven itself into the fabric of family life over the past few years. It has brought us many conveniences, options, and fun, but it has also undeniably created a different family experience than what many parents grew up with.
ost of us didn’t see our parents ordering groceries from a cellphone, setting parental controls on tablets for safety, or arguing over phone distractions during date nights. This new way of life has emerged with its own set of complexities. Technology and the digital world have become like a new family member, who is getting a lot of attention and altering the family dynamic. At times, it might even feel like the digital world is the most important member of the family, taking priority over physical world activities and interactions. Technology and the digital world seem to be here to stay, so how your family chooses to integrate it into daily life can significantly shape the development of both positive and negative family dynamics. Many
parents have come to expect their teens to be in their rooms, immersed in the digital world, while children have grown used to their parents being preoccupied with their own devices. But I encourage you to be intentional in shaping what you would like your family dynamics to be throughout the different ages and phases. Here are four questions to talk about as a family to help you decide what role you want the digital world to play in your day-today family life:
What values are important to our family, how does technology and the digital world fit into these values? Depending on what your family values most; you will likely have different ways of integrating the digital world into day-to-day life.
For example, if your family values fun and being active together you might choose to have a virtual reality sports gaming night. The key here is to be intentional and have conversations about what family members value to decide how to integrate the digital world into family life instead of letting the digital world drive your family values, time, and dynamics.
What boundaries do we need to set around the digital world to have key family moments together such as meals, vacations, or before going to bed? It’s often easier to add something to life than to take it away, so keep this in mind as you talk about digital limits. If you are
adding more engagement and laughter to family meals and vacations by agreeing to put devices down, the limits and boundaries make more sense and have purpose. Eye contact, shared laughter, problemsolving, and affection release “feel-good and love” hormones like oxytocin and dopamine, both kids and adults need regular doses of these hormones throughout their lifetime. Relying on the digital world for these needed hormones in the brain is like eating junk food for nutrition, it may taste good at first, but ultimately does not meet the needs of your brain and body.
How can we use technology and the digital world to bring us closer together, rather than driving us apart? Conflict about the digital world usually comes when a family member is feeling lonely or ignored. Try engaging first – ask about the game, try a trending dance together, or watch the video. Connect with them in what they are already engaged in and then
invite your spouse, kids, or family member to do other activities together either digitally or in the physical world. If you have been trying for a while and they frequently turn you down, then try talking with them about your concerns or how you would like to increase quality time with them.
What example do we want to set for our children or younger members of the family regarding the digital world? I often hear older siblings express concern about their younger siblings' use of digital apps, games, and videos. I think this is because they know from experience what happens when people use the digital world frequently alone, so they feel protective of them. When one family member actively invites others to engage — whether in the digital or physical world — it encourages others to join in. This signals to family members there is fun and engagement available to them and they don’t have to only look for connection in the digital world. ■

RESTAURANT SPOTLIGHT:
ETO’S TACOS has been serving up authentic Mexican flavors since opening its flagship location in Suwanee in May 2019. Now celebrating its sixth anniversary, the restaurant has expanded its reach, with its newest location opening in Midtown in December 2024. Owners Roberto Correa — better known as "Beto" — and his wife Sylvia have built a thriving business, with additional locations in Sugarloaf (Lawrenceville), Johns Creek, Phipps Plaza (Buckhead), and Windward Parkway (Alpharetta).
Beto’s journey to success has been fueled by perseverance and passion. Originally from Michoacán, Mexico, Beto came to the United States 39 years ago. He started in the restaurant industry more than 30 years ago, working back of house cutting tomatoes and onions in a small taqueria before working his way up to line cook at an Italian restaurant. When denied a raise due to his lack of English proficiency, Beto took it as a challenge rather than a setback. “I didn’t quit,” he says. “I took it very seriously. I learned English so I could defend myself the next time. I went to school. I did anything to learn. The walk-in cooler helped a lot; I made a handbook with the names of everything.” His hard work paid off, and within a year, he was promoted to kitchen manager and received a significant raise. Determined to elevate his career, Beto put himself through culinary school in San Francisco before moving to Atlanta 25 years ago. He realized he needed to learn all aspects of the food and beverage industry in order to continue growing. He worked his way up in the hospitality

industry, eventually becoming a head chef, banquet manager, and later, director of food and beverage for Marriott. Fast forward 23 years, and Beto’s Windward location — which opened in the spring of 2024 — sits across the street from that Marriott; an achievement that speaks to his full-circle journey.
Before opening the first Beto’s Tacos restaurant, Beto and Sylvia started with catering, growing their reputation through word-of-mouth and Facebook marketing. Having lived in Suwanee for a decade, they knew it was the perfect place for their first brick-andmortar location. However, securing the right space wasn’t easy. Beto recalls the leasing agent insisting he take one small unit instead of the two spaces he wanted on account that “Mexican restaurants don’t work in Suwanee.”
- Roberto Correa, owner Beto's Tacos
Confident in his vision, Beto made a bet: If the restaurant wasn’t packed on opening day, he would buy the
agent’s lunch for a week. The outcome?
The agent ended up buying his own lunch at Beto’s for seven days straight.
The flavors at Beto’s Tacos are deeply rooted in family tradition, with many recipes passed down from Beto’s mother, including the salsas and enchiladas. The menu features 20 different tacos, each highlighting regional influences from across Mexico.
Visit any of the six Beto's Tacos locations for delicious and authentic Mexican food.
The carnitas are inspired by Michoacán, the Tacos al Pastor hail from Mexico City, and the Cochinita Pibil taco, originating from Yucatán, is prepared in the traditional way — pork marinated in sour orange, wrapped in banana leaves, and served with pickled red onions, cilantro, habañero salsa, and bitter orange. Beto’s regularly introduces new menu items, such as the recently launched Torta Argentina, made with breaded chicken breast, ham, queso Oaxaca, mayonnaise, tomato, onions, avocado slices, pickled jalapeños, and salsa verde.
Tacos remain the restaurant’s most popular dish, with steak and al pastor leading the pack. Every taco is made with organic, locally produced,
gluten-free corn tortillas and paired with fresh, housemade salsas. “You must have a great salsa to eat a great taco,” Beto says. “We have a lot of diversity in our tacos — whether you love steak, shrimp, chicken, or are vegan, Beto’s has something for you.”
Each Beto’s location boasts a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, complete with blackand-white photos honoring Mexico’s history, bright decor, and an open kitchen featuring fresh al pastor spinning on the spit. A full salsa bar offers a variety of homemade salsas, making it the perfect spot for lunch or a casual dinner.
Catering remains a cornerstone of the business, from large custom orders to the Tacos for 10 package, which includes two types of meats, rice, beans, lettuce, cucumbers, Pico de Gallo, limes, cheese, sour cream, onions, cilantro, and five salsas. Customers can choose from corn or flour tortillas, with all orders including chips, plates, utensils, and napkins.
The Beto’s team is very involved in the community and attends
festivals across the state, including Taste of Suwanee, Suwanee Fest, Suwanee Beer Fest, Taste of Alpharetta, Dia de los Muertos in Oakland Cemetery, and many more. Beto loves sharing their food with the community.
“It isn’t just the tacos,” he says. “It’s bringing happiness to people. Great food changes our lives.”
Beto attributes their success to the community. “It’s about connection — how my team and I connect with customers and make them happy. We must always look for excellence.”
He is particularly grateful to the Suwanee community for supporting their first location since day one.
“Everything I have dreamed is becoming possible because of the people in Suwanee. I am so grateful for them — thank you for keeping our business alive with your support. I cannot do this without the support of the community, my family, friends, and team.”
Looking ahead, Beto envisions expanding nationwide, always remembering the brand’s roots. “I will always remember we started in Suwanee, and we will be known as a Georgia brand,” he says. With the restaurant’s growing success, it’s exciting to see just how many Beto’s Tacos locations will emerge in the coming years. ■

The Torta Argentina has made it to Beto's menu, and the combination of meats, cheeses, and fresh veggies make this dish irresistible.

et’s face it — Suwanee Beer Fest is the highlight of the year for many in our community and beyond, and there’s a team of beer-loving superheroes working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all happen. With 6,000 attendees, over 100 breweries, and more than 80 vendors and sponsors, the amount of planning required is nothing short of extraordinary — and it starts way before the first keg is tapped. This year, we’re pulling back the curtain to show you how it all comes together and introduce you to some of the unsung heroes of the 2025 Suwanee American Craft Beer Fest!
The Brainstorming Begins
While festivalgoers are still recovering from the previous year’s event, the team at Big South Productions is already laying the
groundwork for the next year. In April, Suwanee Beer Fest Event Director Tiffany Belflower begins diving into surveys, gathering social media feedback, and meticulously planning the festival’s lineup. It’s not just about choosing the beers — it’s about creating an experience that people will remember for years to come.
Designing the Vibe
Fast forward a few months, and the folks at Veugeler Creative take the reins. With the festival date confirmed, it’s time to craft the visual identity of Suwanee Beer Fest. From designing logos and social media graphics to creating posters and postcards, this creative team works behind the scenes to ensure the festival has the perfect look and feel. By the time November rolls around, the marketing machine is in full swing, keeping the buzz alive across all platforms.
Ready, Set, Print!
As the event draws closer, the pace picks up. Suwanee’s Postal Plus steps in to handle all the last-minute prints — from posters and programs to festival maps and signage. Express Color partners with
SBF to handle all the large format signage; from banners and posters to 3D signs, helping brand the festival, give sponsors exposure, and guide attendees to key attractions, breweries and event areas. With deadlines looming, these printing pros race against the clock to make sure everything is ready for the big day. Their attention to detail ensures that no matter where you are in the park, you’re never far from the information you need.
Transforming Town Center Park
On the Thursday before the event, Classic Tents and Events rolls in to transform Town Center Park into the ultimate beer lover’s playground. Tents go up, tables are set, and the grounds are prepped for a crowd

Dimensional Design and their team elevate the experience by outfitting the VIP tent and bringing in large structures and signage including bars, high tops and more – helping set the event apart and enhance attendees' experience. Meanwhile, the city's public works staff sets up hundreds of barricade around the park in preparation for the festivities.
The Beer
Let’s not forget the beer! Before the sun even thinks about rising on Friday morning, a refrigerated truck arrives to keep the beer perfectly chilled. At least 10 different distributors, who have spent weeks working with Tiffany to curate the beer list, roll in to unload cases and kegs. Each beer is tagged and labeled to ensure it makes it to the right brewery tent the next day. On Saturday, as

What is Your Favorite Memory from Suwanee Beer Fest? Hands down, when the general admission gates open and a sea of green takes over the park.
Name a few things people don't know about Suwanee Beer Fest. It takes the Suwanee Beer Fest team roughly 10 hours to label and tag all the beer on Friday to make sure it gets to the correct tent on Saturday. Also, most local beer fests require breweries to donate the beer to participate. Our goal is to support and promote craft beer. Therefore, we purchase all the beer for the festival.
What is your best advice for someone attending? Come for the beer but enjoy everything the festival has to offer. There are photo ops, yard games, vendors, food, free swag, music, etc. Suwanee Beer Fest is so much more than just a beer fest.
What is your favorite thing about SBF? The spirit of our attendees. They embrace all things beer and St. Paddy’s and truly elevate the festival to a different level. It’s an experience like no other in the area and you don’t truly grasp it until you are standing in the middle of it all.
the sun comes up, both the Suwanee Beer Fest team and city staff get to work. Using hand trucks, trailers, and carts, they transport beer to every corner of the park. By 11 a.m., the final kegs are in place, ready to be iced down—just in time for 6,000 thirsty beer lovers to enjoy.
The Merch Tent
The Merch Tent team gets there at the crack of dawn to set up, helping with vendor and brewery checkin, VIP shirts and merchandise sales. They are there to answer questions throughout the day.
Volunteers Making it Happen
Over 300 volunteers, led by Volunteer Director April Miller, sign up to help with ticketing, beer pouring, set-up and breakdown. “We have the best and most loyal volunteer managers that work hard to keep the festival running smoothly, from Bill at our General Admission entrance who has volunteered for over 11 years, to Diana at the beer tents and Carol and Kristen in VIP who have both volunteered for many years; the festival could not happen without our volunteers and volunteer managers!,” says Miller.
Security and Safety
From overnight security before Suwanee Beer Fest to day-of security, Mike, Jeremy and the ESP Security team work hard to make sure everyone is safe and the festival is secure. There are also a number of police officers to help ensure everyone’s safety.
The Countdown Begins
On the morning of the event, the park is buzzing — breweries and beer distributors bring in beer tents, vendors are getting organized, and the City of Suwanee's Events Team and Public Works are setting up waste management stations, working with the SBF team to deliver beer, and taking care of last minute setup needs. Amy Doherty and her team from the City of Suwanee work with event coordinators to make sure the event runs without a hitch. Meanwhile, Event Director Tiffany Belflower can be found walking laps around the park, hauling supplies, putting out last-minute fires, and fielding questions. She’s the glue holding it all together, the problemsolver, the calm during the storm. And, she still manages to rock a smile while coordinating it all. At Suwanee Beer Fest, superheroes don’t just wear capes, they also carry kegs.

Let the Fun Begin
And then, bam! The gates open, the crowds flood in, and it’s all systems go! You’re in the midst of the best beer fest in the country. As you sip, taste, and wander the park, remember that every beer you’re holding, every banner you’re under, and every Instagram-worthy moment you’re snapping was meticulously planned by a team of passionate people.
The Sound of Success
Meanwhile, Sound Solutions is busy behind the scenes, making sure the main stage comes to life with the perfect acoustics for live music, contests, and announcements. No one wants to miss out on the latest band lineup or contest winner, and thanks to the audio pros, every announcement hits the mark.
Breakdown
And let’s not forget our breakdown crew… when it’s all over, and everyone is exhausted, the hardest part is the clean-up. From the SBF team and friends they can talk into moving all the kegs, picking up all the buckets, and breaking
down tents, to the city’s event and public works team, it takes several hours to clean up, remove the barricade, and restore the park to the way they found it, but the team works hard to ensure it is left in good condition for families to enjoy.
And there you have it — behind every sample poured at Suwanee Beer Fest is a team working nonstop to make the magic happen. So, the next time you raise a glass, you’ll know exactly who to toast to. Cheers to the hardworking crew that makes it all possible!
The Cause
Giving back to the community and supporting local organizations is important to the Suwanee Beer Fest team, and this year a portion of the Beer Fest proceeds will go towards raising awareness and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Cooper’s Crew is an esteemed Suwaneebased organization that was created in honor of Cooper O-Brien, who lost his battle to a rare form of cancer at just 14 years old. Participating in Beer Fest helps raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer as well as celebrate Cooper’s legacy. Your attendance doubles as a contribution to this inspiring organization, and helps support the Cooper’s Crew Fund as well as the Cooper O’Brien Scholarship Fund – a scholarship awarded to graduating North Gwinnett seniors who have overcome unique hardships. This year, Heritage Auctions will be in attendance selling sports memorabilia with a portion of all sales being donated to Cooper's Crew.
Q+A
with Amy Doherty, City of Suwanee Events and Outreach Manager
What is your job at the festival? My main task at the festival is to make sure that our Suwanee staff gets everything done that needs to be done in order for the festival to happen. I’m the main communication channel between the event organizers, Suwanee Police, and Public Works.
Best advice for attendees? Hydrate and make sure you eat something before the day starts. Also, make sure that you pre-plan your ride home after the event.
What is your favorite festival memory? It’s hard to pick just one. It’s the fact that I know we put on the best beer festival in the Southeast. The work that the SBF team does to pick the right vendors and beer and seeing the attendees enjoy it — it’s a highlight of the event calendar! I enjoy being a small part of a team that makes that day one to remember.
Name something people don't know about Suwanee Beer Fest. It takes longer to set up and clean up than the festival actually lasts! Also, I don’t drink beer (because I am gluten free) so I tell people that it’s like being a vegetarian at a steak eating competition! It’s great people watching and it’s fun to see so many people I know at the event.
Members of the breakdown crew, Kyle and Hunter.
Donna and Kevin O'Brien from Cooper's Crew.
April Miller, Volunteer Director
What is Your Favorite Memory from Suwanee Beer Fest? I have lots of favorite memories, but I think there is one that stands out the most. As a Volunteer Manger I spend all day walking around the festival and checking in on vendor and volunteer tents. A few years ago, as I was checking in on our benefitting charity, Cooper's Crew, I asked them how they were doing and they said "GREAT! We are almost sold out!" I remember looking at my watch and realizing it was so early in the day and they already had so many visitors not just learning about their charity, but also supporting them by purchasing merchandise and it just stuck with me how amazing SBF is at bringing the community together.
Name something people don't know about Suwanee Beer Fest. It amazes me that our reach is so far. We
have people who visit from all over the country to attend!
What is your best advice for someone attending? 1. Don't wait to buy VIP because they will sell out quickly and 2. Get there EARLY! The corral fills up fast and if you want the best samples early, you definitely want to be one of the first in line.
What is your favorite thing about SBF? My favorite thing about SBF is its ability to bring together; not just the city of Suwanee, but so many surrounding communities. We gather over 6,000 people to drink great beer, try unique food options, listen to local bands, support an amazing charity and just have an all-around incredible day. How cool is that?!

Buford Student Earns Spot on the USA Softball Junior Women’s National Softball Team
CAROLINE STANTON, a junior at Buford High School, has earned a spot on the USA Softball Junior Women’s National Team. Stanton was awarded both the Pitcher of the Year title by the Gwinnett Daily Post as well as the Gwinnett Diamond Club Pitcher of the Year award following her 2024 season, so this announcement comes at a time where Stanton is on top of her game. Players were chosen for the USA National Team “after advancing through the USA Softball High Performance Program National Selection Event — known as ‘The Pipeline to the Women’s National Team Program’ — in December,” and Stanton is the only Georgian who made the cut.
After being recruited by some of the nation’s top fastpitch softball programs, Stanton has committed to the University of Florida this past fall. Her years of practice began with North Gwinnett’s Youth Softball program before kickstarting her Buford career in the fifth grade. She’s currently playing for her high school team, the Buford Wolves, as well as the Texas Bombers under Cat Osterman, who’s the travel team’s director of pitching performance.
It’s safe to say the Gators are lucky to have her, seeing that her stats from the past season consist of going 14-3 with a 0.62 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 101 2/3 innings, in addition to hitting .409 with 13 home runs, 38 RBIs, seven doubles, and a triple. Buford coach Trent Adams shows his excitement to work with Stanton one final season, and reflects on her 2024 achievements by saying, “[Caroline] did an awesome job for us this year… she’s just a competitor [who] wants the ball in her hands. She’s a leader on the field and off the field as well. She represents our program the right way, [and] I think she’s going to have success early [at the next level].”

Holistic Influences and Dr. Bede Cha's Medicinal Background Lay the Framework for Agape Family Medicine's Practices
BORN IN South Korea and raised in the United States, Dr. Bede Cha, DO, the board-certified Family Medicine physician who runs Agape Family Medicine blends medical experience and personal passion to ensure that his patients are properly treated in both a holistic and efficient fashion. Dr. Cha earned his bachelor’s degree at Johns Hopkins University, attended medical school at Suwanee’s Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and performed his residency at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital Family Medicine in Pennsylvania before returning to Suwanee — the city he attributes to feeling most like home. His dedication to bettering people’s lives has evolved from a fascination into his true calling. The term “agape” translates to “familial love”
in Greek, and that perfectly encapsulates Dr. Cha’s focus as the frontman of this new practice.
Dr. Cha utilizes his respect for spiritual wellness, background in martial arts, and love for his family as inspiration to help Agape Family Medicine reach new heights. AFM's belief that “[They] see people, not patients” is a reassuring reminder that everyone who walks through their doors will be cared for in a way that emphasizes Dr. Cha’s dedication, care, and compassion for both the craft and the patient. Plus, AFM welcomes all insurance policies, self-pay, and walk-ins; furthering the idea that when you need them, they’re there for you.
Visit Agape Family Medicine at 3265 Peachtree Pkwy. Suwanee, GA 30024, or visit their website, AFMedPC.com, for more information or to schedule your first appointment.

Former Gwinnett Public School Board Member Mary Kay Murphy Awarded the Citizen of the Year Award
ONE OF Gwinnett County’s finest, Mary Kay Murphy, was awarded the Gwinnett Chamber’s Citizen of the Year Award at their 77th Annual Dinner February of this year. Her three daughters — Patricia, Emily, and Holly — as well as two sons-in-law, one grandchild, her husband’s second cousin and their spouse were all in attendance as Murphy received her award. She says, “We’re really blessed to have a table full of family members [in attendance].”
After retiring last fall, thus completing her 28 year tenure on the Gwinnett County Public Schools board, many — including former GCPS Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks and former school board member Robert McClure — reminisced on Murphy’s positive influence. Both Wilbanks and
McClure agree, “Murphy's main focus was always about what would produce the best outcomes for students in the long run.” Wilbanks says, “"Dr. Murphy has really been a tremendous influence not just in the school system, but in the county. We're fortunate that she was on the school board for as long as she was." McClure adds, "You could always count on her to listen to both sides (and) to make an intelligent decision. We didn't always agree on everything… but she was always the voice of sanity."
Murphy’s connection to education is deeply rooted, and her journey as an educator has undoubtedly left her mark on both Gwinnett County and the state of Georgia. Not only did she teach at public schools in Georgia and California for nearly a decade, but she also worked at Georgia Tech,
the University of Georgia, Morris Brown College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Oglethorpe University, and as a member of the Georgia Department of Education for the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). After earning degrees from Emory University and Georgia State University, including a doctorate in education administration at the latter, she embarked on a journey centered around giving back to the educational community; with a resumé like that, it’s safe to say her role on the GCPS School Board was inevitable.
Murphy’s positive influence on the GCPS curriculum is primarily focused on improving each student’s academic needs. Murphy said, "There was a good bit of concern in the beginning that the school system wasn't rigorous enough. I think what we were able to do over the years was very much validated in terms of the rigor of the Academic Knowledge and Skills program (AKS curriculum) and the fact that it was available to all students.”
This past year GCPS announced that the district’s graduation rate hit its highest in a decade, with 84% graduating on time. Murphy attributes this achievement as “evidence of keeping our eye on the 'main thing' [and that’s] the graduation rate. It's the availability of the remedial and gifted initiatives bringing every student what the student needs.” She closes out her acceptance speech with the same thought many in the room — and within the county’s expanding education system — share, "[The program’s success] was many years in the making, and hopefully we can keep it.”

Five Gwinnett County Alumni Become CFP
National Champions with The Ohio State
IT’S NO secret that Gwinnett County loves football. With some of the topproducing schools for collegiate and eventually NFL recruits, the Gwinnett region has undoubtedly made their mark on the football world. There’s no better example of this than the 2025 National Championship game featuring The Ohio State versus Notre Dame. With a whopping five players on the Buckeyes team including Mill Creek alumnus Caleb Downs (safety), Buford alumni Eddrick Houston (defensive end) and Seth McLaughlin (center), and North Gwinnett alumni Jordan Hancock (cornerback) and Kayden McDonald (defensive tackle), Gwinnett County is proud to gain five more CFP National Champions.
On January 20, 2025, The Ohio State earned its ninth national championship win, not only “cementing five former Gwinnett County high school standouts in college football lore,” but also solidifying the eighth season in a row that at least one Gwinnett alum was a member of a national championship team.
Caleb Downs was named the most “impactful Gwinnettian” in this specific championship game; not only did he make five solo tackles for the Buckeyes, but he repeated history by exemplifying a leadership mentality that his senior season at Mill Creek prepared him for. After losing to Buford and eliminating the chance of an undefeated season, “Downs helped guide the program to eight straight wins and a Class AAAAAAA championship win over Carrolton.” Downs said, “This was a very similar season to my senior year in high school… We lost early in the season, but learned from it, kept growing and then at the end of the day in the playoffs, we made it happen. It’s really about learning from your mistakes, learning throughout the season, and learning from your failures.”
Downs, Hancock, McDonald, Houston, and McLaughlin worked diligently throughout the season, and were ecstatic to see their hard work pay off as the Buckeyes climbed their way to the top. When asked about his experience as a Buckeye, Downs can’t help but mention the team’s overall success. “I would say this is the greatest playoff run there’s ever been, and I don’t know if there will ever be another one like it. This is an unreal feeling and it’s a surreal moment to be here with my teammates and I’m so glad we could get it done.”
Another honorable mention is Downs’ former teammate Cole Mullins, a Mill Creek alumnus who played for the opposing team, Notre Dame. Although the Fighting Irish lost, this was the first time in twelve seasons they advanced to the National Championship Game: a success in its own right. Overall, January 20th not only signified a great day to be a NGHS Bulldog, MCHS Hawk, and BHS Wolf, but a stellar day to be a Buckeye.
NGHS Alumnus C.J. Uzomah Becomes a Super Bowl Champion
AFTER A decade in the NFL, C.J. Uzomah has achieved Super Bowl Champion status with the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2025. Uzomah graduated from North Gwinnett High School in 2011, attended Auburn University until 2015, and was a fifth round draft pick for the Cincinnati Bengals that same year. He would spend the first nine seasons of his NFL career playing for the Bengals (2015-2021) and the New York Jets (2022-2023) before joining the Eagles in 2024. His story is one of personal growth, respect for his team, and commitment to the sport.
Uzomah is an undeniably gifted and experienced player, but his journey hasn’t always been easy. His first Super Bowl appearance under the Bengals in 2022 ended in a loss, but Uzomah showcased his determination and endurance by “catching two passes in that Super Bowl despite spraining a knee ligament in the Bengals’ AFC Championship victory.” As if playing through an injury isn’t impressive enough, Uzomah’s presence in the four playoff games leading up to the Super Bowl LVI displayed the skills he’d both acquired and mastered from his years on the field. Uzomah faced a similar fate this past championship, finding himself placed on reserve/injured status as a result of an abdominal injury he received on January 1st of this year. While he might not have been added to the Super Bowl’s final roster in order to undergo proper healing, his talents and abilities were significant contributions in getting the Eagles to the Super Bowl game — specifically during weeks 11-17.
Uzomah’s ten-year journey has shown the value of dedication, persistence, and teamwork. Analyzing his involvement during his season with the Eagles exemplifies this; having evolved from a member of the practice squad to the active roster within a handful of weeks. “The 32-year-old tight end rejoined the Eagles from injured reserve on Jan. 30, and practiced with the team ahead of the Super Bowl… While he didn’t get to play in New Orleans, the North Gwinnett grad is still a Super Bowl champion.”
Uzomah’s success story is both a testament to him as an individual player, and as an experienced member of the NFL. His ability to overcome the physical and mental tribulations brought about by external obstacles represent both his athletic abilities and love for the game.

THE DO'S AND DON'T'S FOR HOSTING BABY AND WEDDING SHOWERS
PRIL SHOWERS bring May flowers. Metaphorically, that is… because in this case the showers are followed by flowers that complement a breathtaking bridal gown or hold a priceless card that reads “Welcome baby!” As we’re finally escaping the winter slump and brighter days are approaching, many women are counting down to their 2025 wedding or anticipating this year’s arrival of a sweet, new bundle of joy. These significant milestones require a great deal of planning and preparation, including a bridal shower or baby shower leading up to the big day. If you’re a close friend or family member who has taken the reins on either of these celebrations, don’t fret – because today I’m dishing out my top tips for hosting an unforgettable event.
Do…
DO consult with the bride or mom-to-be for any special requests. While some honorees prefer to be more hands-on during the planning stage, others will likely enjoy the anticipation of being surprised. Either way, she’s probably been daydreaming about this shower for quite a while, so there might be a few items on her wish list that can be accommodated. Whether it may be food or decor related or more logistical, such as the guest count or location, I find that I always feel more confident heading into party day knowing I’ve confirmed any expectations.
you’re comfortable offloading from your to-do list that will help alleviate your stress, do it!
DO outsource when it makes sense. Hosting any event inevitably comes with its own share of pressure and expenses, so don’t hesitate to relieve yourself from some of the responsibilities. Consider recruiting a few co-hosts to divide and conquer, purchasing food that’s table-ready, or paying a talented friend to tackle that balloon arch. Whichever tasks
Baby baskets are a no-brainer gift option that are both practical and exciting for parents-to-be.
DO splurge on personalization. Between new last names, wedding dates, baby names, and birth years, there are countless opportunities to be intentional with personalization. This not only adds a super special touch, but can often double as a gift for the bride or mom-to-be. For something more simply stated, go for an initial in the form of a decorative block letter or fillable cardboard letter (the ones that can be used as a charcuterie or snack tray). For more of a keepsake, a blanket stitched with the newlyweds’ wedding year or a monogrammed newborn outfit make for perfect displays.
DO include the fiancé or dad-to-be. The engaged or expecting couple might desire a joint celebration. From fiestas and brews (coffee or beer!) to backyard baby-ques and tailgates, there are an abundance of catchy themes fitting for a co-ed shindig. If this falls onto your hosting plate, grab the whole group and embrace double the fun!

DO prioritize printed invitations. This one might be more of a personal preference, but I firmly believe it’s worth the extra effort of printing and mailing (or passing out) physical invites. It sets the tone that you’re eager, organized, and looking forward to hosting, which I think promotes another layer of both credibility and excitement.
Don’t…
DON’T let the theme cause you stress. While establishing the right theme is a must to help drive the direction of decor, it doesn’t have to be overly done. If incorporating certain elements of your theme is becoming difficult, overwhelming, or too costly, try focusing on the color scheme to widen your options. Leading with your featured color palette and then sprinkling in accents of your theme will still contribute to the overall ambiance just as impactfully.
*Pro-Tip: A good example is dessert. While designer cakes and custom cookies are stunning, it’s not always the best use of party funds. A standard grocery store cake (or cupcakes) with frosting that matches your color scheme can instantly be elevated with an impressive, affordable cake (or cupcake) topper.
DON’T be afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to the menu. While I’m no stranger to the traditional finger food and appetizer spread – which is never a wrong answer, BTW – don’t be scared to branch out. Is the bride obsessed with tacos? Tap into her comfort zone with a taco/nacho bar. Has mom-to-be been drooling over pizza? Indulge her cravings with a build-yourown personal pizza station.
DON’T overlook the party favors. Perhaps it’s the Southern hospitality ingrained in me, but offering guests a small “thank you” is non-negotiable in my book. I truly am grateful for their attendance because it aided in a memorable shower, and they always leave with a smile on their face. And sure, I’ve (admittedly) gone a little over the top on some of my on-theme party favors in the past, but it definitely doesn’t have to ring fancy. Cookies individually wrapped in cellophane treat bags and tied closed with a ribbon (again, leaning into your color scheme) would be completely welcomed by all! ■
