BOOK CLUB NEWS
This is the time of year when we reflect on the past and think about the coming year. We hope that you will include active involvement in The Tamar Chapter in your plans for the New Year. We need your ideas and your participation, especially as our fund raising this year is directed to The Interdisciplinary Center for Research, Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer. We have had a good year with a number of successful events and are planning some new, interesting & varied activities for the New Year such as a Yiddish group, an embroidery group and others. Of course, our Book Club is continuing to meet monthly and always welcomes new members. Your participation in these activities is essential for success. May we and all of Israel be inscribed for a year of health, happiness and peace. Shana Tova.

Broccoli & Tomatoes Piling both on your fork seems to slow or prevent prostate tumors in rats, according to a study at the University of Illinois at Urbana. Okay, so we don't have prostates (and we're not rats), but researchers think the twosome may offer women the same protection against ovarian cancer. Perfect pairing: Toss 1/2 cup whole-wheat penne with 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, 1cup diced tomatoes, and 1cup steamed broccoli florets, plus salt and pepper to taste. Or simply add broccoli florets to chunky marinara sauce.
PER SON ALS Mazel Tov to: Rabbi & Mrs. Dumas on the marriage of their daughter. Doris Krauthamer on the marriage of her daughter. Rosalyn Moss on the birth of her granddaughter, Shir Tzipora, daughter of Elyssa Moss Rabinowitz (life member of Hadassah – five generations in all beginning with her grandmother, z"al. Three of these generations live here in Israel!). Marilyn Landes on the marriages of 2 granddaughters. Marion Goodstein on the marriage of a granddaughter and the engagement of a grandson.
Refuah Shlema to: Marge Feinstein (she’s at home now) Esther Silberman
Condolences to: The Family of Naomi Davis. May they be comforted among the mourners for Zion & Jerusalem.
