Productive Connection

Reflective Isolation

STAGNANCE - MONOTONY - LEVITATION

The introduction of an element to look forward to increases the level of interaction a user has with the site. This connection causes a result, leads you to a destination - PRODUCTIVE CONNECTION.

Deviation From Default Disrupting Landforms

The exiting linearity of the narrow area of intervention on site is only adding to the sense of isolation on site when the user is forced to move in a linear manner. This charette tests how the deviation of the user movement on site from the existing path would affect how they experience the site and project.

Testing the impact of introducing masses of varying heights to disrupt the existing landforms at ground and water level. Identifying the experience at the point of interference where the two elements overlap.

Variance of height, dynamic, linearity - offers the visitor a guide to move forward progressively.

An opposit slope keeps leading the user and results them in a destination as they move forward

Narrow adjacencies - the more narrow corridor offers a more heightened vertical isolation. Adding an enclosure over this narrow passage further isolated the space.

A sense of well - being, through being cccooned, protected, safe, ISOLATED.

Interactive public realm, a controlled condition of isolation from the external world. A getaway for the visitor.

Framing a TARGET VIEW to prevent mindless isolation. Physical and visual isolation for office spaces.

TEST -2

Placing interactive functions to occur above ground which is otherwise spatially isolated - these pods of activity are further allowed to meet the water front at different heights, but same distance from the waterfront where they are still isolated from each other.

TEST -4

Splitting the path - UN users to go upward where they are isolated for work purposes, public visitors go underground to explore exhibition spaces.

A hollowed out ground passage for visitors to experience the impacts of isolation.

Setting out a journey of UNDULATING EMOTIONS - feeling openness, entrapment and openness once again - how does this spatial claustrophobia impact users experience the space?

ENTRAPEMENT - processing pent up emotions

OPENNESS - Rethinking in a new, clear light

TEST -3

Disrupting interactions of a private zone through spatial separation. Analysing the impacts of having a functionally interactive space ina spatially separated / isolated zone - underground, above ground stilts?

Placing generally isolated functions at isolated points - above ground, while interactive functions are allocated at the ground.

Analysing the impact of spatial vicinities and placements in relation to each other.

TEST -5

Although they are at the same height, they end up at different distances from the waterfront thereby still maintaining isolation.
