Reflection Also the job pays well and you don't have to work under anyone if you are self employed. It also seems that these kind of doctors will be needed more within the next ten years so it would be easy to get employed. The best part about a career in Optometry is that the operations are pain free for the patient and if any bigger problems are noticed, an optometrist would refer the patient to a different doctor, such as an Ophthalmologist.
Typical Day They work full time (40 hrs/ week) and sometimes on the weekends to accommodate patients' needs. Never any overnight calls and optometrists usually have the same patients for many years.
