Mcdonald – Mar. 17, 24 & 31, 2017 Ten people are stranded in an isolated English country house during a raging thunderstorm -- the perfect scenario for an Agatha Christie whodunit, right? But in this musical spoof of the genre, the characters are disposed of one by one in fiendishly clever and comic ways: poison darts, man-eating flower pots, and exploding staircases to name just a few! How will it end? Come and see for yourself! Little Red Hen by Paul Deiss Apr. 3 – May 5, 2017 Plant the seeds. Tend the garden. Harvest the grain. Grind the flour. Bake the bread. Letter from the President Dear Mill Family Member, Welcome to Swift Creek Mill Theatre! You are in for a treat with this face-paced comedy, Cash on Delivery. Did you have time to join us beforehand for dinner? If you have attended the Mill previously, you know that prior to every Mainstage performance we offer buffet dining, which has been part of our theatre’s tradition since the very beginning. However, much has changed since 1965. The historic Mill theatre, having undergone a tremendous renovation several years ago, is now ADA-accessible. Our main-level restaurant in the Historic Mill Room and our beautiful Granite Room provide many possibilities for guests to create their own special and unique experiences. Did you know that Swift Creek Mill is available for a variety of events? People just like you have invited us to host their weddings and/or receptions, educational lectures, civic meetings, holiday parties, and the list goes on and on. Therefore, it takes a special person to be able to coordinate all the events and onsite catering, in addition to planning each and every pre-show dining experience. I’m pleased to introduce our new Director of Food and Beverage, Rick Bernstein, who has extensive experience in both theatre and restaurant management and comes to us from Golden, Colorado. We are excited to have his talents and fresh energy! If you have never dined with us, what are you waiting for? Where else in the Tri-Cities can you enjoy a three-course, candlelit meal with all the personality and ambiance of a favorite 354-year-old landmark? Nowhere! We are looking forward to this new era in Mill dining and hope you like what you see and taste. Until next time, thank you for being part of the Mill Family. Enjoy the show! Your Friend in the Arts,
Sterling Hawkins

Theatre Spotlight
Meet Rick Bernstein Food and Beverage Director Rick Bernstein just joined the Swift Creek Mill Theatre team in February. He is so excited to be involved with one of Chesterfield County's historic landmarks, a Virginia Historical Landmark, and a historic site that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a rare honor to be able to work in a functioning 353 yearold building. And the fact that it functions as a restaurant and a theatre (Rick's two vocations for the past 40 years) is the icing on the cake! Rick has been involved in the restaurant/hotel business since 1972. During his 40 year tenure he has served in every capacity in the restaurant/hotel business. From washing dishes and making beds, to serving as Food & Beverage Director, Catering and Sales Director, General Manager, and owner, Rick has literally done it all. He took a break from food and beverage to accept an acting scholarship at Colorado Women's College (don't ask!) Rick has lots of experience in every facet of theatre, but his favorite passion is directing. He founded The Morrison Theatre Company in 1989, moved the theatre to Golden, CO, in 2003, and turned the company over to a new artistic team in 2013. After leaving the theatre, Rick and his lovely and talented wife, Paige, decided to move to Richmond to experience the eastern part of the country. Since being here, Rick has performed in VA productions, helped with sound design for a local theatre company, and is now serving as the Food and Beverage Director for Swift Creek Mill Theatre. Rick thanks SCMT for inviting him to become part of the team. "This is an extraordinary group of dedicated and talented people that have gathered here to perform their craft. It is great to be part of the creativity!" 19
