Mike Haubenstock lives in Glen Allen, Virginia, where he produces beautiful and soothing oil paintings. He began taking drawing lessons in Glen Allen in 2003 and then graduated to oils when he desired to learn more about painting. He continues to refine his technique and paints what inspires him. He learns something new and practices his art almost every day.

Mike’s painting is fundamentally representational. He wants you to be drawn in by color and depth, by a painting that inspires and creates continual interest and perhaps whets your appetite. Mike’s inspiration comes from many sources, such as architecture, landscapes, still lifes and, most importantly, color, which moves the artist as well as the audience. He often picks a theme and paints many scenarios to perfect his art and challenge himself. One of his early themes was fruit and vegetables, as they resulted in colorful pieces that went well with his personal passion for cooking. This evolved into a series of paintings based on recipes—the raw ingredients and what they are cooked in, such as eggplant parmesan and guacamole. This theme continues, and he recently did some cocktail recipes, such as the ingredients for a Bloody Mary or Sangria. Other series of paintings include arches (architectural and natural) and the signs and facades of Richmond, VA restaurants. Visit mikehaubenstock. com for more information.

From the Artistic Director Gather ‘round the campfire, folks… it’s time for a ghost story! “The Woman in Black” reminds me of late summer evenings at camp, when all of us would gather in a circle around a roaring bonfire, sit on the grass with our backs to the woods, and listen to one of the camp counselors tell a haunting story. Using the imaginations of the campers, tales would be woven and hackles would be raised, until we became frightened of what might be in the forest around us. As the fire dwindled to embers and the story reached its spine-tingling conclusion, we were sent off to our beds with more than a little trepidation about what might be waiting for us in the dark. ….and so it is with the play you are about to see: I hope you will let your imagination run wild as this story unfolds and you discover the truth about the woman in black. Be afraid… be very afraid!

Biographies BILL BLAIR (KIPPS) is pleased to once again be on stage here at Swift Creek
Mill Theatre and is honored to once again be under the direction of Tom Width. Matt Hackman is a wonderful stage partner and his wife Emma keeps both men in check, for the most part. A Richmond native, Bill spent thirteen years performing in New York and Los Angeles. Some of his television credits include: The Wonder Years, Growing Pains, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Local theatre credits include: Swift Creek Mill’s A Few Good Men, Breaking Legs, and Greetings; Theatre IV’s Keely & Du; Barksdale’s A Trip to Bountiful; the Science Museum’s Playing with Fire; CAT’s Book of Days and Unexpected Tenderness; and Virginia Rep’s Airline Highway.
LAUREN CONLEY BOLDING (THE WOMAN), proud mother of Crestwood Elementary second-grader Sage Lee Rademaker, was born and bred in the Blue Ridge. After having performed on stages all over Central and Southern Virginia, she is thrilled beyond measure to be working at Swift Creek Mill Theatre and more so with Tom Width, who directed her on the Longwood (then College) stage when she was 16 years old! She studied dance with the gifted Virginia Anne Fulton in Farmville. Lauren was most recently seen at Virginia Rep in last year’s A Christmas Story. Other memorable roles include Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, April in Company, Phyllis Dale in 42nd Street, Lucy Barker in Sweeney Todd and the slave Eliza in The King and I. By day, Lauren is a boutique fashion and gift consultant with Harper Group, New York. This performance is dedicated to her daughter Sage. “I will love you for all of ever!” MATT HACKMAN (ACTOR) is very happy to be back on the Swift Creek Mill stage after his debut there early last year in The Little Lion. Other credits around town include: The Lyons with 5th Wall Theatre; The Pillowman with Cadence Theatre Company; The Lover with Sycamore Rouge; Inconsolable with KDance; The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, Take Me Out (RTCC Best Actor Nominee) and The New Century with Richmond Triangle Players; Taming of the Shrew, Troilus and Cressida, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Titus Andronicus and A Servant of Two Masters with Richmond Shakespeare/Henley Street; Now Then Again, The Nerd, Harvey, Leading Ladies, Enchanted April, The Sisters Rosensweig, Epic Proportions and Something’s Afoot with Chamberlayne Actors Theatre; You Don’t Know Me, Bridal Dance, What Strong Fences Make and Crumble with Firehouse Theatre; and I Ought to be in Pictures and The Little Dog Laughed with Virginia Rep. LOUISE MASON (THE WOMAN) is thrilled to be back on the Swift Creek Mill
stage. Other credits at the Mill and around town include: Jill/Clarice in You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Water’s Running, Brenda Dixon in Cash On Delivery and Sheina in The Little Lion with Swift Creek Mill; Sabrina in Sabrina Fair and Miss Casewell in The Mousetrap with Henrico Theatre Company; Ann in All My Sons and Aurey in Leading Ladies with CAT; Guildenstern in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Helen in Troilus and Cressida with Henley Street Theatre; Eva in Last Summer at Bluefish Cove and Beebo Brinker in The Beebo Brinker Chronicles with Richmond Triangle Players; Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Sarah in The Lover with Sycamore Rouge, Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Richmond Shakespeare; and The Woman in The Pillowman with Cadence Theatre Company. She wishes to thank Matt for his infinite patience.
