all it the shot heard round the world—only this time, the revolution is on behalf of modern women. The O-Shot ® (or Orgasm Shot ®) is a new, noninvasive treatment that aims to alleviate female sexual dysfunction by extracting PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, from a woman’s own blood and injecting it directly into the vaginal area. As Charles Runels, an Alabama cosmetic doctor (who is better known as the creator of the Vampire Facial, made famous when Kim Kardashian had the procedure done on TV), explains, the O-Shot uses PRP to stimulate the growth of new cells in a woman’s vaginal walls and clitoris. According to Runels, the platelets, which the body utilizes to naturally generate tissue, increase not only the number of cells, but sensitivity to stimulation as well. Runels says he was inspired by the array of treatments available for men dealing with sexual problems—with everything from Viagra to penile implants as a remedy—and the glaring void when it came to female sexual dysfunction, even though more than 40 percent of American women are estimated to suffer from it. Runels is incredibly confident about the new technique—he just can’t believe no one has tried it sooner. “Over 10,000 papers have been published about how PRP rejuvenates tissue, but no one had ever tried it
as a way to rejuvenate vaginal tissue for women,” says Runels. “When I started trying this [method] and saw how it worked for the face, it become apparent that it could also be extremely beneficial for the genitalia.”
What Is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot is an all-natural, painless, non-surgical procedure that can rejuvenate and revitalize vaginal and clitoral function, giving you dramatically improved sensitivity and significantly enhance your sex life. Additionally, many women lose urine while coughing, laughing, sneezing, or exercising. It can be an embarrassing and frustrating problem. Because the O-Shot procedure offers rejuvenating capabilities, there is help available without the need for invasive surgery. The O-Shot is an in-office procedure that uses a centrifuge and specialized method to isolate platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood. Then, using a very tiny needle, the PRP is injected back into the clitoris and upper vagina into the area most important for the sexual response, the O-spot. The O-Shot can help: • Decreased libido (sex drive) • Stress urinary incontinence • Dryness (with resulting painful intercourse) from menopause or from breast cancer treatment • Decreased ability to orgasm • Urge urinary incontinence • Lichen sclerosus • Lichen planus • Postpartum fecal incontinence • Chronic pain from trauma from childbirth (episiotomy scars) • Chronic pain from mesh • Chronic interstitial cystitis Commonly asked questions about the O-Shot: • Who is the ideal candidate for an O-Shot procedure? Women who experience difficulty achieving orgasm and/or those with urinary incontinence. An O-Shot is not recommended for those seeking treatment for certain sexual dysfunctions such as dyspareunia. • What is the average recovery associated with an O-Shot procedure? There is little to not downtime associated with an O-Shot procedure. Patients may feel a sense of fullness in the vaginal area, experience an altered urinary stream, or notice swelling for a few days. All normal activities, however, including sex, may be resumed the same day. • What are the potential side effects of an O-Shot procedure? Possible side effects from an O-Shot procedure include bleeding, consistent discomfort at the injection site,
