| Lifestyle Spenders Bayou City readers are more than their demographics; they are lifestyle spenders who invest in their aspiring lives. They enjoy trendy urban living, buy from local businesses and pay a premium for lifestyle products, services and experiences. Bayou City connects these consumers—our readers—with local businesses. By understanding these unique consumers, businesses can design ads and publish sponsored content relevant to Bayou City readers’ needs.

What They Spend On

How They Choose

40-something challenges With the

Real-life experiences Luxury is no longer

target age in the mid-40s, lifestyle spenders are interested in looking and feeling young. In their personal lives, they want to know the latest products and trends in food, fitness, health, wellness and beauty. And in their careers, where they are finding themselves working with younger colleagues, they strive to be more fashion-and tech-savvy.

defined by the purchase price or the image of a brand-name retailer or product designer. Instead, true luxury is the promise of a real-life experience, from a romantic evening out to a personal fashion makeover.

Three generations Lifestyle spenders

exist in a multigenerational world focused on themselves, their children and their parents. Infants may be joining the family. Older children are leaving for college. Parents are beginning to need homecare services or assisted living. And in between, our readers may just need time for themselves. The point is this: Lifestyle spenders purchase products and services for themselves and family members of all ages. Urban living Lifestyle spenders may work

at home (requiring an office or studio), get in shape at home (turning a room into a gym) and grow organic food (turning a lawn or patio into a garden). They seek both conventional and unconventional products and services for their homes and gardens.

Going local Today’s consumers are shifting

their spending to local businesses. Instead of an out-of-town getaway, they book a “staycation” at a local hotel or resort. Rather than preparing dinner at home every night, they dine regularly at their neighborhood bistros and eateries. And instead of driving across town, they frequent their favorite local experts, services and boutiques. Lifestyle trends Trends change the way

consumers live, work and play: from going green, to getting fit, to using new mobile technology. Our readers use these trends—spotted and reported in Bayou City—to make decisions on the businesses they visit, the products they purchase and the expertise they seek. Connect with Bayou City readers: lifestyle spenders seeking

exciting experiences, spending on local opportunities and following current trends.
