“A holistic veterinarian is interested in your pet’s nutrition, environment, emotions of the owners, stress levels, and other factors.” - Dr. Anja Kordon, DVM

T

he term ‘holistic’ is best summed up as looking at the individual human or animal as a whole and not just treating the symptom of a disease. It includes examining the physical, emotional and energetic body. Using the word ‘holistic’ can be viewed as an umbrella term because it covers a wide range of practices, techniques and therapies.

Holistic Medicine for Your Pet

Many people practice holistic/natural therapies for themselves and are now implementing them for their furry friends. The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA) was formed in 1982 by veterinarians who were interested in a holistic approach to veterinary medicine, elevating the veterinary profession through innovation, education, and advocacy of holistic medicine. One of the main objectives of the AHVMA is to do all things necessary to further the highest standards in care and treatment of animals and provide continuing education for Veterinarians. You can find Holistic Veterinarians on

their website: AHVMA.org. The Association holds an annual conference for Veterinarians once a year in the United States. This conference is the premier source of post-graduate holistic veterinary continuing education. Holistic medicine, by its very nature, is observing in a “(w)holistic” manner. It means taking in the whole picture of the patient – the diet, the environment, the relationship the pet has with its owner – and developing a healing protocol tailored to the patient’s needs. Every animal is made up of inter-dependent parts that work together. When one part is not functioning properly, the body is not able to function optimally. A holistic veterinarian is interested in nutrition, environment, emotions of the owners, stress levels, and other factors.

Types of Holistic Treatments for Pets

Treatments in the holistic field strive to be minimally invasive and instead aid the body with the tools needed to heal itself. This means

for 30 years. Her holistic approach to animal care encompasses each animal’s unique and entire state of physical and emotional well-being. Find the Cause for every Effect is the motto, it’s detective work. Prevent the cause (be it unfit water or food etc.- yes even organic) and you have treated and prevented further ill-health. Symptom treatment will not bring about true healing. Everything that goes in and on your animal is getting evaluated and when the pet guardian believes it and follows all instructions, inflammation will stop and your pet will thrive. It is up to the guardian to follow the provided schedule.

using pharmaceuticals and surgery only when necessary for the pet’s health and quality of life. The goal is finding the true root source of the pathology in order for true healing to occur. The wholeness inherent in the scope of holistic veterinary medicine nurtures all aspects of an animal’s well-being, resulting in lasting physical, mental and emotional health. There is a plethora of ways to practice holistic veterinary medicine. It may be safe to say that no two holistic veterinarians practice the exact same way or use the same techniques. Services include nutrition, supplements, herbals, homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with acupuncture, light-therapy, flower essences, chiropractic modalities, massage, Vibrational therapies (Bio-resonance, Reconnective Healing, EESytem. com), Prolotherapy, Ozone, PEMF (pulsed electro-magnetic frequencies) and many more. Unfortunately, it can still be a common practice to just treat symptoms even when practicing holistic. Let’s say for example, you get a headache and instead of reaching for the Advil, you take a natural supplement. Yes, taking the natural therapy is a much better option because you won’t be putting stress on the detox organs (liver, kidneys, lungs, skin) like you would with the drug. However, this is not solving the cause of the headache in the first place. Perhaps it is dehydration, or a magnesium deficiency, or an accumulated EMF (Electro Magnetic Fields) exposure, or work stress, or a vertebra out of alignment or a mix of any of the above. For true health and healing, it is important to uncover any and all causes. Dr. Kordon says, “For every Effect there is a Cause”. At Animal Health Oasis, we have a machine and systematic questions that help us find the cause. Most of our clients are amazed at how thorough we are. •

< Page 34 “Why Do Women Find It Hard to Ask for Help?” BY EILIS PHILPOTT

lengthy stay. The Age of Aquarius seems firmly upon us. Though astrologers surely disagree when this official age begins, there is no disagreeing about key aspects of the year ahead.

Here is a quick look at what to expect:

• Saturn (time/karma/boundaries) in Aquarius (freedom/innovation/individuality/humanitarian). How these two energies play together can vary. Check the timing of the innovations that will happen. Acknowledge lessons that come when you show up as authentically you. And “status quo or forward flow” is a question you can lean on. • Jupiter (magnification/beliefs/hope) in Aquarius...An expansion of consciousness could be upon us and a bright, shiny future for humanity as well!

Do you have the kind of loving relationship you always imagined? Is the connection to your partner strong, deep, and alive? Is your method of communicating efficient and productive? If your answer to any of these questions is “no,” you are in good company. “Relationship Communication 101” was not offered in high school. Everyone is worthy of having fulfilling, satisfying, and trusting relationships. Couples who have this type of partnership are each other’s top priority and they are confident that despite hard times and life challenges, they can overcome anything because they have each other. Trusting relationships give us the freedom to live life authentically and to become the best versions of ourselves. If you want to improve the state of your relationship, ask for help and make it happen. You and your partner are worth it. •

Why Can Some People Trust More Easily than Others?

Like many therapeutic explanations, childhood plays a key role in the answer to this question.

The type of attachment we had to our parents or caregivers in childhood is a precipitating factor in our ability to trust as adults. Our early attachments serve as a model of how we view the world and the people in it. Children who grow up in an environment where the people around them are dependable, caring, and trustworthy will have a greater propensity to trust others in adulthood. Conversely, a child whose mother or caregiver is mercurial, unreliable, and apathetic (and/or neglectful, unkind, or abusive) will more than likely have difficulty with trust as an adult. When we have not processed and healed old wounds from childhood, we struggle with forging and maintaining healthy relationships in

s a psychotherapist and relationship specialist, I hear the word “trust” quite often in therapy sessions. In fact, lack of trust is one of the top causes when relationships start to deteriorate. Trust is a necessary ingredient for happy and successful relationships, romantic and otherwise. Yet the ability to trust others can be elusive for so many of us and without it, happy, healthy, and high-functioning relationships cannot be sustained.

Which is why I created The 7 Essentials System ®

• Stay strong at your core like the tree’s trunk. Know what you stand for. • Be flexible like the tree limbs. Bend when you should if it’s for the greater good. • Let go of what isn’t serving you anymore. A tree doesn’t keep the leaves because they were once pretty. Be willing to let things fall away.

The 7 Essentials System® is a step-by-step program that shows you how to create vibrant health naturally. Each Essential is a time-tested guide that takes the confusion out of a preventive or healing journey. Creating vibrant health is not just about getting rid of the “lump” - it’s about a complete transformation of your body, your mindset and your emotions.

You are co-creating the new earth. It’s the last key word for the year ahead and it’s very Aquarian. Your thoughts create your reality. Your emotional enthusiasm for all that is goodly and Godly and right in this world when added to the quantum soup can bring forth incredible gifts. We’ll share those gifts one day, even if it isn’t until 2022. •

- Nina Azwoir

I

f the past few months have given you more time for introspection, use it to improve your financial plan in a big-picture way. Even for the privileged among us who still have our jobs, are not on the front lines with the pandemic, and have not had anyone close to us felled by COVID-19, the current crisis has brought hardships big and small. Parents have confronted the daily struggle of trying to do their jobs while also home-schooling. Adult children have not been able to visit their elderly parents. Graduations, weddings, and even funerals have been put on hold or “Zoomified.” Yet as difficult as it has been, there have been a few silver linings too, especially for those of us lucky enough to not be touched directly by the crisis. One of the most valuable is that pressing pause on our usual routines has given many of us the opportunity to take a step back, get out of our ruts, and take stock. What do we really value? What do we really miss? What can we not wait to

do when this is all over? What “necessity” of our past lives, whether the daily purchased latte or frequent meals in restaurants, are we finding that we are quite happily doing without? Travel may be someone’s greatest longing, while others miss cooking and entertaining big groups of family and friends. Talking about how the pandemic has changed our thinking on a topic, or made us want to do more of something else, can help us feel like we are using the present situation productively. The current sense of isolation will not be for naught, because it is shaping how we intend to use our lives in the future, when we once again have a full set of choices before us.

Are You Allocating Your Time and Money with Your Intentions?

It can be argued that now is a good time to put a fresh set of eyes on your financial plan, taking a similarly expansive view of it that you might not

have been able to do when you were busy and mired in your day-to-day activities. Too often, one expert opined, financial plans (and planners) move straight to the “solution” phase, without stopping to ask some basic questions about what someone is trying to achieve and what their real problems are. What will constitute “success” for you over the next few years, not just in financial terms, but in life terms, too? Are you allocating your time and money in line with your intentions, what you find fulfilling, and what brings you joy? These questions are incredibly personal; no one else can answer them for you. Whether you are well into retirement or early in your career, it can be easy to backburner questions like these and move straight to logistics, determining your asset allocation and minimizing taxes, for example. Those are all worthy pursuits, but if you find yourself with a bit of extra time to think a bit more broadly and introspectively about your financial plan, here are some of the key questions to ask yourself.

What Expenditures Bring You Happiness?

As most investors know, the biggest determinant of whether you achieve financial success is how much you spend versus how much you save. But as important as it is to make sure your intake exceeds your outgo, budgeting can seem like sheer drudgery. Here is a different way to think about budgeting. Simply begin to take note of how various discretionary expenditures make you feel. It can be incredibly illuminating. Much of the scientific research about spending and happiness points to a clear connection between spending on experiences versus things. Many would also argue that many of life’s most memorable experiences cost very little.

How are You Allocating Your Precious Resources?

Investors should strive to make smart allocations of financial capital across opportunity sets, not just saving versus spending but also debt pay down versus investing in the market, how much to allocate to retirement savings versus college, and so on. These are crucial topics worthy of significant analysis and introspection. Ultimately, the right answers are a matter of math (expected return on “investment”) and personal preference. Many of us pay much less attention to how we allocate an even more scarce resource, our time, even though that allocation will ultimately have an even greater impact on whether we feel like we have met our goals. Of course, some of our time expenditures are pre-ordained, the time we spend working or caring for children, for

example. Even within those allocations it seems worthwhile to be more mindful, to help ensure that your allocation of time in a given day, week, or year aligns with your goals and vision for that period. An audit of how you are allocating your time currently is a good starting point. Technology tools can help you determine how much time you waste (uh, spend) on social media and other activities that could be detracting from your productivity and happiness.

What is Your Definition of “Enough”?

Many of us are operating with an incredibly vague notion of how much we really need to save in order to achieve our financial goals and find security. Even financial planners might rely on rules of thumb when setting your retirement savings target. For example, they might assume that you will need 80% of your working income in retirement and extrapolate the rest of your plan from there. As humans, we often have a natural tendency to reach for more more more, regardless of whether that “more” is actually bringing more happiness and security. Trying to keep up with the people around us, in terms of possessions and outward signs of success, can get exhausting and may not get us any closer to our life’s goals. That is why, in this period of limited activity, spending, and social contact; it is worthwhile to think through your own definition of enough, both now and for the future.

What do You Want Your Legacy to Be?

When taking a strictly financial and estate-planning perspective, leaving a “legacy” is one of those topics that can seem overly narrow. It is about leaving assets behind for children, grandchildren, and other loved ones, as well as charity if we so choose. It is about making sure we do not burden the people we care about. Those are crucial considerations and they are why everyone needs an estate plan that includes wills, powers of attorney, and beneficiary designations, among other key documents. While you are at it, why not think big picture about your legacy, too? What do you hope people will say about you after you are gone? What life philosophy or pieces of wisdom do you hope that your loved ones will always associate with you? If you find yourself with a bit of extra time for introspection, write down a few ideas along these lines. And no, you are not too young to start thinking about this. You can find templates for creating a “personal legacy” online, but some good advice is not to overthink it. Balance more serious ideas with more lighthearted ones. We all have credos that we live by; make sure your loved ones know yours. •

If “it takes two to tango,” it certainly takes two partners to create healthy communication. In many ways, partners are as enmeshed in each other’s lives as they are in their own. Isn’t this what we sign up for when we begin an intimate relationship? Bottom line—it’s paramount that couples learn how to communicate with each other, and to do this, they must develop the skills. If we want our relationships to have legs, it’s imperative to have exceptional, well-oiled tools, and here is why: When communication between two partners is subpar, they will grow apart over time. When this happens, relationships become vulnerable to problems such as lack of intimacy, frequent arguments, criticizing or belittling, feeling unseen and unheard, infidelity, and loneliness, which all culminate in the loss of interest in the relationship and ultimately, complete disengagement.

One word: Therapy. Or perhaps two words: Couples counseling. Whatever you call it, the sooner you and your partner begin working with a therapist, the better. The longer you wait, the more frustration, anger, and resentment will build up, and damaging relationship habits such as arguing, ridiculing, and giving your partner the silent treatment become even more ingrained. Unfortunately, people tend to look at therapy as a last resort or Hail Mary. Couples counseling is an opportunity to learn skills that enable partners to have and maintain healthy and loving relationships. This is especially valuable when life throws inevitable curveballs at us and our relationships. Couples counseling is sought out by smart, sensible people who understand that there are times in life that you need to ask for professional help. If your house burned down, would you buy supplies at Home Depot and rebuild it yourself? Of course not, you would hire highly trained contractors. The same goes for learning how to communicate—we don’t come out of the womb knowing how to communicate; it is a learned behavior. But what if no one ever taught us how to communicate in a healthy way (or at all)? What if our parents did not model a loving relationship with healthy communication skills? How are we supposed to know what that even looks like? Lack of proficient communication skills is not a character flaw; it is simply a skill that no one ever taught you, and that is not your fault.

So, How Do You Stop the Bleeding?

In healthy, successful relationships, trust takes shape in numerous ways. Healthy couples understand the importance of listening to their partner, really listening, conscious listening with empathy. There is great power in being truly heard, understood, and validated without rebuttal or defense. Dependability is vital—always showing up, no matter what, without excuse, is another expression of trust (and love) in relationships. It may not be the sexiest quality a partner brings to the table, but dependability is a rock-solid, necessary trust-builder. Conflict is inevitable in relationships; even the most stable, loving partners won’t always agree. However, the ability to resolve conflict in healthy, constructive ways is another sign that trust exists within a relationship. The problem is that many couples have not acquired the tools needed for healthy conflict resolution. For example, poor communication can create stress and mistrust, weakening the connection and bond. In this case, the door to other damaging relationship problems has been opened. The ability to successfully work through disagreements is an excellent barometer for trustworthiness in a relationship.

adulthood. Our emotional hurts make it hard for us to trust others—feeling unlovable or unworthy of a caring relationship is another example of the “emotional fallout” from unresolved pain. The truth is, a lack of trust in childhood poses a significant threat to our ability to have healthy, trusting relationships in adulthood.

re you still shaking your head and brushing the dust off your shoulders asking, “Wasn’t that interesting?” as you recall 2020? With 2020 came the destruction of beliefs and value systems, the hoarding of toilet paper, and a quarantine to keep us safe. Now we arise out of the dust re-engaged. The slowing of the machines of our lives forced an inward look at our priorities. A glimpse into the year ahead indicates innovation and plenty of opportunity to use our intuition. The planets have a plan for everyone. The gigantic gas filled balls overhead hold archetypal energies which we unconsciously pick up and integrate. Adjust. Balance. Co-create. We will all need flexibility and versatility this year. You didn’t withstand lockdowns, mask wearing, and a multitude of restrictions only to shrink backward. Think about a tree. Trees of all varieties are able to bend and move with the wind without breaking. Trees, with their deep roots to ground them, tall and far reaching limbs that seem to sometimes slip into the ethers and touch heaven, are the best example demonstrating what our human selves could lean into this year. It was that ancient rascal poet Rumi who claimed, “Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.” The tree seems to personify this. It seems that 2021 is the perfect year to be the tree.

HABIT 2: Sleep

Sleep is foundational to good health. Most research indicates we need at least seven hours of sleep to maintain brain health. Continuous lack of quality sleep can take a toll on our health over time, contributing to heart disease and diabetes as well as affecting our memory and mood. Create healthy sleep habits by establishing a bedtime routine. Get approximately ten minutes of morning sunlight to set your circadian rhythm, wake up and go to sleep around the same time every day, and avoid caffeine after noon to improve your quantity and quality of sleep.

Avoid highly processed foods and foods with a high sugar content. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Choose lean meats. When you make a commitment to eating healthier you will not only look better, you will feel better and have more energy.

“Focus on empowering beliefs instead of limiting beliefs, question the beliefs that no longer serve you, and remember that you are capable of more than you can ever imagine.”

Make exercise a priority. Research shows that exercise is beneicial not only in lifting our mood but also in decreasing stress, preventing chronic diseases, increasing mental clarity, and boosting energy. With all of these beneits, it is vital to make exercise a part of your daily routine. Exercising in the morning can be a powerful way to start the day and getting 150 minutes of moderate intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity a week can help you feel your best. Find a type of exercise you truly enjoy and you’ll be more motivated to do it. There’s nothing like exercise to boost your conidence and make you feel great.

on three to ive things that you’re grateful for every day and you will be amazed at how your life will transform. You will start seeing the cup as half full instead of half empty. Focusing on gratitude is one of the most powerful ways to create a positive mindset and is an incredibly effective way to boost your mood. A gratitude practice trains the brain to focus on the positive aspects of life and what we choose to focus on then expands even more. If you commit to making gratitude a daily practice for at least the next 30–66 days, as it takes an average of 66 days to form a new habit, you will give your brain an opportunity to form new neural pathways toward more thoughts of gratitude. Every time we think a grateful thought and focus on the cup as half full, we are creating new neural pathways in the brain that help form the habit of gratitude. Counting your blessings takes very little time, and the beneits are so powerful. There is growing research that shows that dopamine is released when a person expresses gratitude. Making journaling a regular practice can help you think strong and when your thoughts are strong, you will see great results in all areas of your life. As Marcus Elliot said, “when you can master your mind, you can master your reality.” Another effective way to cultivate a positive mindset is to become aware of your self-talk. Consistent defeatist self-talk can turn into internalized feelings and cement your negative conceptions of yourself. Many of us run on autopilot and aren’t even aware of our self-talk, but it is imperative that you catch yourself when you think a negative thought and transform it into a positive one. Once you start noticing your thoughts, you’ll get into the habit of focusing more on the positive. Our self-talk is based on our self-image, which is based on our core beliefs. Focus on empowering beliefs instead of limiting beliefs, question the beliefs that no longer serve you, and remember that you are capable of more than you can ever imagine.

any adults spend a lot of time and money trying to look younger—topical creams, makeup, hairstyles, facial peels, facial CO2 lasers, and, of course, enhancements like fillers, Botox, and plastic surgery. We exercise like crazy to keep our physiques in shape. We diet. We drink green smoothies. Whatever it takes. As much as this may work on the outside, on the inside your body is still aging. You may still feel groggy or have a general lack of energy. You may experience chronic headaches and joint pain or inflammation. You may gain weight and feel like you can’t get that extra two inches off your waist no matter what you do. Your blood pressure and

06 ESN Layout v9f.indd 30

cholesterol and sugar levels may be rising. Most diseases, in fact, are diseases of aging; therefore, as you age, by definition you have a higher risk for disease. Researchers are developing solutions to stall nature. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, or NAD+, is a naturally occurring cofactor/coenzyme derived from Vitamin B3 (niacin, which is present in all living cells) and a nucleotide (which is what your DNA is made of). NAD+ starts to diminish as we age, so research has focused on the impact of reintroducing NAD+ to the body. Many doctors of functional medicine are increasingly optimistic that we can turn the clock around using the right therapies.

Impact on Sleep

When you sleep, you have REM and deep sleep. REM is the dream part of sleep that typically occurs in the early morning hours right before you wake up, which is why you wake up from dreams so much in the morning. This type of REM sleep is essential for your mental health and cognition. If you consistently lack REM sleep, there can serious consequences to your mental and emotional health. You need at least one hour of REM sleep each night. Deep sleep occurs in the earlier part of the night, right when you go to bed. It’s mostly responsible for your body’s regeneration and

10/6/21 10:22 AM

06 ESN Layout v9f.indd 31

10/6/21 10:22 AM

without it, you will feel unrested and have lower heart rate variability, or HRV, scores. High HRV scores, meaning heart rate goes up and down quickly in response to stress, are preferred. We need about one hour of deep sleep a night; unfortunately, many people are in light sleep most of the night. Deep sleep and REM sleep components are essential to our well-being, and many of us don’t realize we may not be getting enough of these types of sleep. My patients who use NAD+ regularly consistently experience about a 30% increase in deep sleep as measured by sleep trackers like the Fitbit or Oura ring. I personally use an Oura ring every night. Prior to NAD+ oral therapy, I would get an average of 40–50 minutes of deep sleep nightly. Now, I am clocking an average of 80 minutes a night. This increase is vital, as quality of sleep is significantly improved and we awaken refreshed and ready to conquer the day.

Benefits of NAD+

The benefits of NAD+ are far-reaching within the human body and can impact an individual’s: • Brain: Potentially slows cognitive decline and promotes healthy brain function, mental clarity, higher concentration levels and memory function. Studies in mice showed these results. Now, studies are underway involving humans with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. • Mental health: Potentially helps control depression, anxiety and mood disorders. Research has shown that people with critically low levels of NAD+ are at a higher risk for developing problems related to addiction, anxiety, and other mental disorders. • Energy: Boosts energy levels and fights chronic fatigue. NAD+ inserts itself directly into the Kreb’s cycle, or the energy cycle in the mitochondria of your cells that create energy. As we age, our natural levels of NAD+ decline, explaining why fatigue is the primary complaint among older adults. • Metabolism: Gives a jolt to metabolism, which burns fat and helps the body regulate blood sugar levels. In studies, diabetic and obese rats showed improvements in their metabolism with NAD+ supplementation. • Rejuvenation: Allows cells to regenerate and repair, healing the body as it recovers from injuries and rigorous exercise. NAD+ is a sirtuin activator, and a very strong one at that. These sirtuin genes have the ability to repair cells and regress them to a more youthful state.

06 ESN Layout v9f.indd 32

10/6/21 10:22 AM

The Ultimate Biohack to Increase Energy

NAD+ decreases as you age in a linear fashion. NAD+ is also what inserts itself three times into the Kreb’s cycle, which is the energy cycle of your cells. As you age, you make less NAD+ and cannot make enough energy. What if we figured out the ultimate biohack to increase our energy levels? What if the key is NAD+, and how do we increase this as humans? There is a lot of data on oral forms of NAD+ precursors like NR and NMN that can be taken orally. Studies have shown a significant increase in blood NAD+ levels after just a few hours. So far, there are no toxicities noted in human trials using these molecules. NAD+ is already being referenced as the body’s anti-aging molecule. As a supplement, NAD+ does not need FDA approval, so it’s available today to the general public.

Therapy Options

There are two primary ways to receive NAD+ treatments: • IV therapy: This treatment option has grown in popularity because vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are introduced directly into a patient’s bloodstream. This allows for quick absorption and immediate impacts. IV therapies are conducted in a doctor’s office or medical clinic. • Oral supplements: Just like a multivitamin or supplement, taking NAD+, NMN, or NR in tablet or powder form introduces the treatment through an individual’s digestive system. Patients can take oral supplements daily from their home. Is this the fountain of youth? It’s possibly the closest thing we’ve ever discovered. All of us want to look younger, but we should be focused on living longer, healthy and pain-free lives. Science shows that the fountain of youth isn’t found in a mythical spring, rather potentially as NAD+ within our own bodies. Some of us just need a little extra as our levels decrease with age. As always, please consult with your physician prior to making any substantial lifestyle, health, or nutritional changes. •

here will you be at age 65? Dependent or independent? Strong, healthy, and fit or struggling with disease? The difference lies in the way you use your mind. Ninety-five percent of people just do the tasks that are required of them. They have no initiative or courage to start new things (that includes new careers, new relationships, or new lifestyles). Until you have learned that YOU are the master of your fate, you will never attain full success. What you are going to be six months or a year from now depends upon what you think today. So, make your choice. Are you going to realize that your environment, your success, and your happiness are all of your own making? The majority of those who experience failures in life are simply the victims of their mental defeats. Their conviction that they can’t be as successful as others results in complacency and not even trying to succeed. The reason why millions of people are plodding along in mediocrity is because they lack confidence in themselves. Are you taking active control of your own thoughts? Are you imagining only the things that you want to accomplish or do or have? Are you thinking healthy thoughts, happy thoughts, and successful thoughts? Or are you constantly worrying about things that may never happen? It is estimated that we only use 10% of our mental power. Imagine what we could do if we doubled or tripled that—and really imagine what we could do if we could tap into accessing 100%!

The power to be what you want to be, to accomplish any goal, to attain what you dream of, resides within you. This power is yours to bring forth and put to work. But before you can learn how to use it, you must realize that you possess this power. Most of us walk through life having no idea we hold the key. The reason most of us don’t achieve success in life is because we are content to live a life of complacency. The most important thing to focus on with your conscious mind is to center your thoughts on what you want and shut the door on every suggestion of fear or lack. When you achieve control of your mind, you will attain health, success, and happiness. Think of a time when you were successful at something—what were your thoughts, what was your mindset? I bet you felt unstoppable. Now think of a time when you failed. What was the difference? We can do only what we think we can do. We can be only what we think we can be. We can have only what we think we can have. What we do, what we are, and what we have all depend on what we think.

Harvard genetics professor Dr. David Sinclair and a team of 30 scientists are working around the clock to understand how to reverse disease, not just slow it down. And here’s the kicker—they have actually figured it out. Studies have shown how to delay aging significantly, and in some cases, how to actually reverse the age of cells. Researchers take a menopausal female mouse, based on the quality of its eggs, and confirm she is infertile. Then, they give this mouse an NAD+ precursor molecule called NMN and watch as her biologic age is reversed to a more youthful state, as measured on nine metrics. Later, a retest of the quality of her eggs shows them to be fertile; she then becomes pregnant and has children. These results have been replicated in several mice. Quite simply, this is groundbreaking research. Not only could researchers reverse a menopausal, infertile mouse into a youthful, fertile one, but researchers could double the lifespan of a laboratory mouse from two years to four or five years. If they can double the lifespan of a mouse, could they eventually double the lifespan of humans? Our current lifespan is about 81 years for women and 77 years for men, but Sinclair feels that with safe human doses, there is no reason humans can’t live to be 115 years old. Additionally, Sinclair found that mice had a longer lifespan and health span (years in a healthy state), and that they did not get sick and die until the very end of their lives. In other words, increasing lifespan did not come with more disease, but actually less disease and a quick death. If this could translate to humans, it sounds like the perfect situation for longevity—a nice, long retirement and then a quick death. Sign me up! Sinclair’s book, Lifespan: Why We Age—and Why We Don’t Have To, is a bestseller. This is absolutely revolutionary research, and it’s happening right now.
