1. Description Alphatron Oscillion is a polyphonic subtractive synthesizer to produce a vast array of sounds, utilizing three main signal modules: frequency (voltage controlled oscillator VCO), timbre (voltage controlled filter VCF) and amplitude (voltage controlled amplifier VCA). Four VCOs initiate the sound waveform and control its frequency. It also determines the initial timbre by the waveform option selected (sawtooth or square). The VCF module shapes the timbre via a low pass filter with cutoff and resonance parameters controlled by an envelope generator. The amplitude of the sound is shaped by the VCA envelope. It generates iconic vintage synthesizer sounds with distinctive pads, peculiar keys, punchy basses, sparkle leads, creepy effects, charming ambient soundscapes or unearthly and otherworldly atmospheres. Suitable for many genres and styles of music and pliability to custom design over a diverse sonic palette. Available as a plugin in VST and VST3 64 bit versions for Windows, as well as in Audio Unit for macOS. Key Features  Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs). They will generate the initial sound signal with four voltage controlled oscillators (VCO1, VCO2, VCO3, VCO4), with the following parameters: o Fine. A fine tuning knob that tunes the VCOs by a semitone. Gives a wide array of frequencies between the oscillators. o Octave. The knob to specify octaves above or below the current octave of the VCO by dialing in a range between 2 to +3 octaves.

frequencies, offering a simple and effective tone control to shape and color the sound source.

o Cutoff. Controls the low pass filter cutoff frequency. Determines where the signal is cut off.

o Resonance. Controls the low pass filter resonance. Emphasize or suppress portions of the signal above or below the defined cutoff frequency.

 Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF) Envelope. This section provides control of the filter cutoff frequency over time, with independent control over each ADSR stage (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release).

The ‘Level’ slider determines the magnitude of the action of the ADSR envelope on the frequency and response of the low pass filter.

 Chorus. A 4 voice stereo chorus effect that imparts richness and character to the sound by adding multiple short delays with a slight amount of feedback, making each sound distinct from the original.

o Toggle switch On/Off. A switch indicator to turn ON/OFF the module. Press the toggle to activate the effect, the switch will light, and chorus will be applied to the sound. To inactivate the effect, press again and it will turn off.

o Stereo Spread. Adjusts the stereo spreading of the chorus voices. For maximum stereo spread, fully clockwise rotation; for a monophonic chorus, simply set to zero.

o Amplitude. Adjusts the presence of the chorus. Turn it clockwise to increase it or counterclockwise to decrease it.

o Depth. The slider sets the balance between the unprocessed (dry) signal and the processed (wet) signal that will be blended.

 Delay. A stereo delay that stores the input signal and plays it back after a certain amount of time, creating from a subtle echo to a pronounced blending of previous sounds with new sounds. Parameters include:

o Time. Modulation to vary the delay time dynamically.

o Feedback. Regeneration of delay.

 Reverb. Integrated reverberation module.

o Toggle switch On/Off. A switch to turn on/off the unit. Press the toggle to activate the effect, the switch will light, and reverb will be applied to the sound. To inactivate the effect, press again and it will turn off.

o Size. The knob provides a spaciousness and depth to simulate the sound reflections from walls, floors and ceilings following a sound created in an acoustically reflective environment. Small rooms can be modeled as well as large spaces.

o Width. This knob adjusts the stereo separation of the wet reverb signal.

 Pitch Bend. A virtual wheel to vary the frequency or pitch of the oscillators (VCOs) in a continuously variable manner. Bend wheel upward raises the pitch and moving it downward lowers the pitch. It will automatically return to its initial position when released.  Keyboard. The virtual keyboard lets you listen to the synthesizer sounds without the need for an external master MIDI keyboard. Just click on a virtual key to hear the corresponding sound.  Hint property. Tooltip when the mouse is over a control. You can mouse over any of the controls anywhere in Alphatron Oscillion and this will display a short description of what that control does.  Preset Manager. 'Browser' to load and save presets and banks, enabling to export to *.fxp (VST2 Preset), *.fxb (VST2 Bank), *.vstpreset (VST3 Preset), *.aupreset (Audio Unit Preset) plus two generic formats (plain text): the *.xmlpreset (XML Preset) and the *.xmlbank (XML Bank), providing cross platform presets/banks. This allows to control over the loading and saving of presets from disk as well as sharing presets between different plugin formats using the generic *.xmlpreset (XML Preset) and the *.xmlbank (XML Bank).  50 internal presets (Pre programmed sounds) categorized by type: ATMO (6), BASS (6), KEY (10), LEAD (12), PAD (8), PERC (2) and SFX (6) with an ultra flexible sound shaping capability to create diverse electronic sounds.  MIDI automation. Installation Notes 4.1 For Windows 4.2 For macOS Installation Notes for Windows To install the VST / VST3 plug ins, follow these steps:
 The file must be in a directory where the VST / VST3 host is looking for VST or VST3 plug ins.  Unzip the file.  To use the VST2 Plugin 64 bit (x64): Place the Alphatron Oscillion VST x64 folder into your VST Plug ins x64 folder of your DAW/host application 64 bit.  To use the VST3 Plugin 64 bit (x64): Place the Alphatron Oscillion VST3 x64 into your VST3 Plug ins x64 directory of your DAW/host application 64 bit that supports VST3 format. To uninstall simply remove the respective folders from your 64 bit VST / VST3 Plugins directories, as appropriate. VST / VST3 64 bit plug-ins locations on Windows The following chart includes common VST / VST3 paths. Depending on your DAW/VST host program, these folders are the default VST2 / VST3 x64 folders for example in Cubase and Nuendo:  VST plug ins locations on Windows The following chart includes common VST / VST3 paths.  To use a custom VST Plugins folder go to the Options / Preferences / Settings of your DAW / host program in order to assign it.  If an installed VST plug in is not available, check if the installation path is actually monitored by your DAW / VST / VST3 host application. Installation Notes for macOS Audio Unit (.component) Instructions: 1. After download you will find a *.zip file. 2. Unzip (extract) the *.zip file by double clicking, so it will uncompress (expand) the item. 3. To install the Audio Unit, drag or move the *.component file into your ‘Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components/’ folder. Audio Units plug ins appear as individual components in the Library folders on your Mac:  In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter "/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components" into the Go to Folder field, then click Go.  You can also check the Library in your Home folder. In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter "~/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components" into the Go to Folder field, then click Go. 4. If your DAW is running, close it and restart it. When your DAW starts up, it will rescan your plugins folder and detect your recently installed plugin.
 Finding the Audio Plugins folder: The plugin folder is nested in the Macintosh HD Library. There are usually a minimum of two Libraries on your Mac, one in Macintosh HD and another in your user account. You should only place the plugins in the Macintosh HD Library so that it can be accessed by all users on the computer.
