“We have been very satisfied with the previous co-operation and investments from System TM and this time has been no different. System TM has handled the entire project process very professionally, and all deadlines has been kept. We are very confident that this solution will live up to our expectations, and are pleased to have been working with System TM again”.
Holzindustrie Schweighofer The Schweighofer group is an Austrian family business consisting of more than 3,000 employees. They stand for quality and continuously develop innovative solutions and explore new markets. The forest based industry is the core business of Schweighofer, and leading companies in over 70 countries are among their customers.
Production facility in Radauti, Romania. The sawmill in Radauti was established in 2008 and since then the pellets production of the factory has been extended with up to 165,000 tons/year. Schweighofer also decided to expand the production facilities with an additional 11,000 m3 glue lam (BEAM) plant – and started operation in February 2015.
Almost all production facilities of Schweighofer are based in Romania where they are now the market leader within the wood processing industry.
The beams are made of pine wood and are premium glue lam products. These products are especially suited for the Japanese market where Schweighofer is in a leading
position with regards to glue laminated beams. From 2015 onwards, 100,000 m³ glue laminated beams will be produced annually at this plant for the Japanese market. The solution delivered by System TM is a material handling line for the production of beams to the Japanese market. It is very important that these beams are extremely straight and square since the requirements and demands from Japan are very high. These two presses are very reliable and efficient, and operates with a very high capacity and short pressing times. After pressing, the beams are separated via a buffer system and an operator repair the surface of the beam if any defects occur. The beams are then turned 180° and the opposite side of the beams are checked for defects.
two operators are again quality checking the beams and if any defects occur they are repaired.
After this process it is then possible to stack the beams manually or transport them through a Multi Head cross-cut saw, model MK2, where the ends of the beams are trimmed before the moulder. After the moulder
With this line, it is possible for Schweighofer to handle and manufacture beams in a very high quality that lives up to the requirements of the Japanese market.

After the moulder the beams are labelled and automatically transported to the stacking area. The packs have to be stacked very precise and accurate and there is a very small tolerance of the stacking quality.
Previously System TM has delivered a cross-cut line and an optimizing sorting solution to another facility of Schweighofer in Romania and the co-operation between Schweighofer and System TM has always been very good and professional. System TM is very honored to have been chosen for this project and look forward to many more years of a great partnership.

OTC Timber from New Zealand invests in cross-cut line from System TM After having seen a line in operation at a current System TM customer’s location in New Zealand, OTC Timber was impressed with the operation. This made OTC Timber visit the System TM stand at the Ligna exhibition in 2013, where they were looking to replace their old manual cross-cut saw with a modern, automated optimizing cross-cut line.
“Working with System TM and MiCROTEC has been great. During our visit to your factory we were impressed with all the people, the facilities and the equipment. Results to date indicate that we have made a sound investment and we have every confidence in working with System TM and MiCROTEC”.
>>
Nigel Wilshier, Managing Director at OTC
Up until the investment in System TM equipment, the production of OTC Timber has been performed manually. As the cost of raw materials continued to increase, they realized that it was necessary to improve the yield from cutting raw material into Clear Blocks and components. Project relationship Following the Ligna exhibition in 2013 System TM worked on a layout of a potential line that would live up to the needs of OTC Timber. After visiting System TM in Denmark for de-
monstrations of the Opti-Kap 5003 optimizing cross-cut saw and testing of their workpieces on a MiCROTEC scanner, OTC Timber was convinced that investing in a line from System TM was right for them and their production requirements. Cross-cut line The full-automatic solution consist of a vacuum infeed system Opti-Feed 6000 Vack, a MiCROTEC scanner model GOLDENEYE 301 for detection of defects and quality before the optimizing cross-cut saw model Opti-Kap 5003. Going through the Opti-Kap 5003 crosscut saw, the workpieces are cut into finger joint components. Unique semi-automatic filling system System TM has designed an automatic
sorting system including a unique semi-automatic filling system for finger joint pieces. The sorting boxes are tilted 40° enabling the workpieces to glide instead of fall into the box. When the box is half full it is tilted back to 90° which makes the falling height of the workpieces shorter. The belt filling the box is capable of moving sideways which then fills the box more evenly. These functions of the sorting system handles the workpieces very gently and optimizes on the space in the boxes. The entire project process with OTC Timber has consisted of great co-operation and a new very pleasant acquaintance. System TM is extremely happy to have been working with OTC Timber and very excited about the future partnership.

Lamico from Holland invests in cross-cut solution from System TM
Production pictures from Lamicos production facilties in Holland q
The investment in a cross-cut solution from System TM is part of Lamicos goal to automate their production processes. This will enable Lamico to become very flexible, to provide fast deliveries, enhance their production volume and supply reliability. Lamico – specialists in edge glued solid wood panels Lamico is one of the biggest edge glued solid wood panel producers in Europe and they are specialists within this field. Their solid wood panels are used by a number of industries such as for example the furniture and staircase industry, the wood processing industry, and DIY market worldwide. A big focus of Lamico is being able to offer its customers the best quality and service. They have a continuous aim to invest in expansion of their production capacity, improving their technologies and broadening their expertise.
Automation of the production The investment from System TM is automation of the production of edge-glued panels after an existing moulder. The design of the System TM solution has been created to be able to handle and optimize on broken, damaged and poor quality lamellas. After the moulder there are two production setups. The long length lamellas of good quality are transported through the scanner and then directly to an existing high frequency glue press, and the lamellas that are broken or damaged go through manual sorting before a scanner. The lamellas that are not sorted as waste, but are still of a lesser quality, continue to an optimizing cross-cut saw, model
Opti-Kap 5003. The cross-cut saw cuts the lamellas into shorter lengths of good quality, according to the required sorting criteria. Before investing in the system solution from System TM this process was executed manually. The operators sorted and cut the panels several times before going through the glue press. This resulted in a slow process with a higher waste percentage.

The new system solution from System TM ensure a much higher utilization of the wood at a much higher capacity. This enables Lamico to be more flexible in their production with regards to supply reliability and large-volume production capacity.
