Professional co-operation Schweighofer is a company where quality and innovative solutions are part of their history and they have many years of experience within the business. The entire process has been handled with the upmost professionalism, and System TM is very proud to have been chosen to deliver this optimizing sorting line to Schweighofer.
Holzindustrie Schweighofer The Schweighofer group is an Austrian family business consisting of 3,000 employees. They stand for quality and confidence, and continuously develop innovative solutions and explore new markets. The forest based industry is the core business of Schweighofer, and leading companies in over 60 countries of the world are among their customers. Almost all production facilities of Schweighofer are based in Romania, where they have achieved market leadership in wood processing in record time. The first Romanian sawmill was built by Schweighofer in 2002, followed by a second one in 2007. In 2009 Schweighofer acquired a production site in Siret and the most recent acquisition was in 2010. In Romania the availability of high quality raw timber from sustainable forests is very high, which is one of the reasons, why this country has been chosen as production location. Production facility in Siret, Romania After the acquisition of the existing production facilities in Siret the aim was to modernize and enlarge the mill to optimize the production of solid wood panels.
solution for the production of wood panels at the site in Siret and even more proud when Schweighofer decided to go with the solution from System TM. With the System TM solution the investment in the Siret facility will improve the existing capacity by 50%. The sorting line from System TM The sorting line delivered to Schweighofer is a high-speed sorting line that produces lamellas for edge glued panels. It consists of an Opti-Feed 6000 infeed solution, that automatically transports the lamellas to a multiple cross-cut saw model MK3, capable of splitting them into two lengths. After splitting, the lamellas are transported through a moulder, where the lamellas are split again. The sorting line is designed so that it is possible to run with both different lengths and thickness of the lamellas, hence gaining much more flexibility and utilization of the wood. After the moulder the lamellas are stress graded. Very weak lamellas are sorted out, manually trimmed and finger jointed. The other lamellas are then fed into a high-speed infeed before the scanner. The scanner is a MiCROTEC GOLDENEYE 501 scanner and is the fastest within this industry. The scanner is capable of scanning the lamellas according
to an unlimited number of qualities, which gives Schweighofer the possibility to run a varied production. Because of the many opportunities within quality sorting, the line consists of seven automated stacking systems model Opti-Stack 3000, two vacuum stacking systems model Opti-Stack 6000 and six tables for manual stacking. This system enables Schweighofer to truly optimize the utilization of the lamellas according to its different qualities, giving them a true advantage in the production. Professional co-operation Schweighofer is a company, where quality and innovative solutions are part of their history and they have many years of experience within the business. The entire process has been handled with the upmost professionalism, and System TM is very proud to have been chosen to deliver this optimizing sorting line to Schweighofer.

Director Erlend Mogen, Moelven Profil AS in front of the factory in Kirkenaer q
One of Europe’s big players in our industry invests in optimizing system solution from System TM The Moelven Timber division supplies more and more industrial components to window manufactures mainly in Scandinavia. They invested in new production facilities and decided to expand the current production with a new production line, where existing equipment would have to be incorporated.
“I would like to give a big compliment to System TM for the entire co-operation in connection with this project.”
>>
Erland Mogen, Director;
”Both the preliminary cooperation designing the line, the project process, the entire installation, and startup of the line, has been handled by professional staff and to our greatest satisfaction.” ”The co-operation between Moelven and System TM has been characterized by a great mutual respect, which we appreciate.”
Moelven Moelven is one of Scandinavia’s leading suppliers of products and services to the building and construction sector. The company is more than 100 years old and has production facilities in 50 different locations and employs 3,400 people. Moelven is an industrial leader, when it comes to product development and innovation and always has a focus on technological developments and new opportunities. One of the initiatives taken by Moelven to respond to the market demands was to acquire production facilities producing wood components for the window industry.
day one System TM has been involved with the ongoing service and maintenance of this.
Moelven Profil The new production facility is Moelven Profil and is located in Kirkenær, Norway. A few years back the Moelven company decided to acquire production facilities from H-Profil. Moelven saw a very big potential in producing components for the window manufacturing industry, hence buying H-Profil which had existing equipment producing window components.
Important to find a competent partner System TM and Moelven has had a great ongoing relationship and co-operation with previous projects and therefore System TM was also chosen as one of the candidates for the Moelven Profil project. It was very important for Moelven Profil to find a partner not only being capable of
Future plans for the new facilities Moelven was from the beginning very motivated to create the best possible production opportunities at their new facility. This involved making a decision to invest in new equipment, that could be integrated with the existing machinery. In this way it was possible for Moelven to gain optimal utilization from the existing machinery and at the same time optimize the production with the newest technology and design.
Some of the existing equipment at H-Profil had been delivered from System TM, so from
taking full responsibility for the integration between the existing equipment and the new machines, but also to guarantee the required productivity and capacity of the line at a fixed price. It was very tough competition to win this project, but in the end System TM turned out to be the best candidate and most suitable to run the project in close co-operation with Moelven. The optimizing system solution from System TM The line consists of a vacuum de-stacking system model Opti-Feed 6000 Vack that automatically transports the workpieces to a stick sweeper/collector, a core indicator, and

a roller conveyor with infeed to a vertical twin bandsaw. The twin bandsaw then splits the workpieces into either two or three pieces according to the production run. If the workpieces are split into three, there is an option to utilize the side pieces in one way and the core piece in another. The core piece will then be marked so that the scanner will be able to recognize this. When the workpieces has been split into either two or three pieces they are transported to a two storage feeding conveyor, with a built in turning device. Half of the split workpieces will then be turned, so the heartwood turns the same way on all workpieces. The turned workpie-
ces will then automatically be transported through a moulder, an existing scanner and two existing optimizing cross-cut saws that cuts the workpieces according to wood utilization and production settings.
finger-joint machines. The cut workpieces will be orientated the correct way without use of staff resources.
New infeed concept for finger-jointing The workpieces will be cross-cut ready for infeed to two different models of finger-jointing machines in variable lengths. The infeed to finger-jointing is a new concept developed by System TM and enables direct integration between the optimizing cross-cut saws and
Automatic infeed to finger joint q
The reason for having two finger-joint machines is of course to maximize the capacity of the line, but even more since the utilization of the wood is much greater, when it is possible to run for example both A and B quality at the same time. This system solution also gives Moelven the opportunity to sort C quality wood and hereby utilize this in the next production run.

After finger-jointing the workpieces are now six meter long lamellas, which are transported to stacking system, that automatically stacks the lamellas into packs. Timing the installation The installation and startup of this optimizing system solution was executed as scheduled, which was very important to Moelven Profil, since it was in the peak season of the requests for window components. The entire process from idea to execution has been very rewarding for System TM. The co-operation between Moelven Profil and System TM has lived up to all expectations and has been run professionally and System TM are very proud to have been involved in this exiting project and will look forward to many more years of great co-operation with Moelven.
