We are a mixed operation that consists of the cattle operation, along with our grain farming operation. If you notice the birthdates of these bulls on offer, you will notice that a lot of them are born when the seed drill is running as well. The cowherd has had to become low maintenance, not only out of our desire, but also out of necessity. We develop bulls slowly and let them grow, with longevity and reliability for our customers at the top of our minds. The bulls are weaned off of their mothers and put on a high roughage grower ration that meets all of their nutrition needs, while not pushing for top gains. Come grass time, these guys are hauled to pasture to graze all summer. In late fall, they are started on a high roughage TMR ration and brought along slowly. We grow the majority of all of our ingredients right here at the farm. This produces sound, stout, functional future herdsires that we are extremely confident in and proud of.

M&J Farms and Glasman Farms are strong believers in consistent, functional working bulls. We aim for complete customer satisfaction. We are also realistic people, who understand that these are animals - should a situation arise, you can rest assured, we have your back. We pride ourselves in customer service that doesn’t end on sale day.

Welcome to M & J Farms and Glasman Farms Simmental and Angus Bull Sale! This annual event will kick off at 2:00PM on February 26, 2023, at the farm, 2 miles south of Russell, Manitoba off the Yellowhead Highway, and online with DLMS.

This breeding operation ranks amongst the finest in the province and is steeped in history… first in the Angus breed and then the Simmental component… giving the Glasman Family a very large cow herd base to select high quality bulls for their many repeat customers. The program is based on two-year-olds born on grass in late April and through seeding. They are summered on grass then supplemented with a high roughage ration in the fall to ready them for sale. Basically, the bulls are maintained and cared for just like that of their customers. During the summer process, Miles and Mother Nature do much of the culling… feet and legs… disposition… do-ability to name a few. There is no smoke or mirrors in this operation.

The lineup is stout, muscular and rugged… sound of feet and legs that are designed to cover plenty of cows in big pastures. Whether it be Simmental, Red and Black or Black Angus you can be assured of added value with your purchases and selections simply because you will want to keep all their daughters in the replacement pastures. The sons will speak for themselves in the sale barns you choose to market at.

Wintering Program

Bulls picked up by March 1st will receive $100 discount. Bulls will stay at M&J Farms/Glasman Farms free of charge until April 1, 2023. After this date a $3.00/day/bull charge will be applied. All bulls must be picked up or delivered by the end of April. All bulls must be insured if they are staying at M&J Farms/Glasman Farms.

Welcome to the 2023 Glasman family bull sale. We are grateful to again be consigning alongside my family and the M&J offering. This business is really a lot to do with the people so we’d like to start by saying thank you to our customers, friends and family for supporting our program. Whether you like or share a social media post, are a bidder or buyer, an extra body or babysitter when needed, etc. we couldn’t do any of this without you! I believe the cattle cycle isn’t broken and we are headed in to good times. With inputs and expenses higher than ever it is even more important to invest in trouble free, efficient growth cattle to make this lifestyle more profitable and fun.

The bulls came home from pasture late December and were still transitioning onto new feed around picture time. Between then and now even they have continued to change and excel. We all want trouble free cattle. We definitely have to have them here as I am 3000 feet underground half my life and do most farm projects as a family with three kids in tow. Our cattle need to be low input and efficient but high output; continuously improving and progressing our herd and moving the breed forward.

The stoutest Angus bull in the pen. This fella is big scrotalled, muscular, deep bodied and has the true character of a herd bull. As a calf he was definitely the most muscular and early maturing and looked like a herd bull early on. MLG Earnhardt 1022 is one of the most attractive and complete bulls in the offering. Deep, stout, and hairy with smooth shoulders that lead into a proud herd bull skull. He is backed by the Blackbird cow family that always has a large percentage of bulls in our offering and is maybe the most popular and proven cow family in our herd thus far. His dam is a favorite perfect uddered Authority daughter who is a full sib to a past high selling bull to Felton Angus Ranch in Montana. His full sib was a feature in last year’s sale. No research to do here: consistency is bred in!

Earnhardt 1011

This bull’s depth in pedigree is unrivaled. On his dam’s side alone is such greats as Final Answer, Coleman Donna, Pioneer, Prestige, Leachman Right Time, and New Trend. His dam may be our most moderate cow in size but consistently weans the highest percent of body weight year after year.

These Earnhardt bulls are like peas in a pod, consistent right from birth. They all have extra base width, bone, hair and character. 1048’s dam is brood cow power at its finest. Her son last year was our feature Bond son and she has a top PM Natural Law son for next year’s sale.

Phenotypic standout here! This moderate Earnhardt son is so structurally correct and has that undeniable herd bull character Earnhardt stamps his sons with. Terms

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Payment Options

Payment in full sale day will be the norm. If special arrangements are needed please discuss with Miles Glasman (M&J Farms) and/or Matthew Glasman (Glasman Farms) prior to the sale.

Insurance

All bulls staying at M&J Farms/Glasman Farms must be insured. Contact Keystone Livestock Insurance at 204728-3058. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Delivery

Bulls will be kept until April 1, 2023. After this date a $3/day yardage fee will be payable. All bulls will be delivered by April 30th free of charge unless special arrangements have been made at M&J Farms/Glasman Farms convenience. Every effort will be made to get your bull to your farm, however some long distances may dictate delivery to a central point.

Breeder’s Guarantee

All bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale. The bulls sold are sold with a breeder’s guarantee. If problems arise please notify M&J Farms/Glasman Farms immediately so the replacement or credit towards another bull can be dealt with in a timely fashion, At no time will M&J Farms/Glasman Farms be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Pedigree Estimates (PE)

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

Announcements

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Exception Guarantee

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Liabilities

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

Rights and Obligations

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
