MORPHOLOGICAL MAPPING
ASSIGNMENT THREE Tara Shokouhi 635693
Roof-top Gardens
Large amounts of offices exist within the transect. Heaps of potential with unused rooftops.
In analysing the Russel St. transect beyond the minimal open spaces and the trees, there appears to be very limited greenery. For this reason It has been decided to bring in more green into the transect through rooftop gardens and grass covered Tram tracks. Inspiration taken from European cities such as Barcelona, Frankfurt and Milan for the tram tracks and Chicago and New York City for rooftop gardens. By bringing in more green spaces, they will act as a host of benefit to the area. Benefits include a reduction in the urban heat island effect, creation of permeable surfaces for storm water, pollution reduction and absorption of noise created by the metal tram tacks.
