non convenzionali e creare alternative innovative, senza mai dimenticare l’ABC fatto di manualità, artigianalità, specializzazione nel segno della valorizzazione del talento individuale. Costruire non è un gioco da ragazzi ma da’ soddisfazioni purché se ne sposino le regole, se ne tutelino le persone, se ne tengano in considerazione i luoghi e le culture: perché correttezza, sicurezza e rispetto sono principi che
guidano e sostengono. Siamo figli di una terra che ha fatto del costruire una filosofia, del saper fare uno stile di vita, dell’impegno una religione. Valori forti che sono parte di noi e che convivono con la nostra fame di conoscere, confrontarci, essere sempre parti attive di un progetto che non abbia confini geografici o limiti di fattibilità . PerchÊ quando si hanno radici solide non ci sono tempeste che spaventino.
In Cina come in Italia, in Brasile come in Russia. A fare la differenza sono sempre le persone, il loro spirito di adattamento, la flessibilità , il dinamismo mentale ed operativo, la determinazione nel raggiungere un risultato. Non perdere di vista l’obiettivo fa parte della sfida e raccogliere sorrisi una vittoria. Noi siamo tutto questo.

25 anni di lavoro, incontri, vita...
Migliaia di miglia in aereo, la Cina sorvolata ad ogni latitudine, speranze a volte disattese, illusioni, vissute in solitaria come condivise, impegno e pressioni sempre ai massimi livelli. Ma anche soddisfazioni. Tante. Non abbiamo certo la presunzione di conoscere la Cina ed i cinesi. Oggi questa terra, così lontana ma vicina, è un mondo meno sconosciuto con il quale si può e si deve venire a patti.
ono passati già quattro anni dalla nostra prima esperienza lavorativa nei territori cinesi. Un susseguirsi di emozioni, paure ed incredulità, tutte documentate in un libro pubblicato nel 2013 -Working on Shenzhen- che è segno tangibile di un cambiamento. Non solo dell’azienda, ma di tutti quelli che hanno avuto un ruolo, piccolo o grande, in quel progetto. Shenzhen non è stato solo un lavoro. Ma una sfida, una sperimentazione, un’avventura, un punto di domanda.
Noi abbiamo scelto di farlo, orgogliosi di proseguire in questo cammino. Abbiamo pensato di raccontarlo nuovamente in una seconda pubblicazione, per dare una continuità a un percorso intrapreso con coraggio e ora fortemente voluto che ci ha portato a Tsingtao, città portuale affacciata sul Mar Giallo, nella provincia di Shandong, meno snob e cosmopolita di Shenzhen, ma tuttavia ugualmente nota, soprattutto tra gli amanti della birra. Anche in questo progetto le vere protagoniste sono come sempre le persone che non hanno lesinato tempo, fatica, sorrisi, vivendo quotidianamente il cantiere. Ogni immagine e ogni scritto parla di loro, delle loro esperienze ed emozioni, della loro forza e dell’impegno.
Un riconoscimento, dovuto e voluto, agli sforzi del mio staff, tutto parlante inglese, disponibile a mettersi in gioco senza mai perdere la calma. Una testimonianza reale, tangibile, di come la volontà di perseguire un risultato sia superiore a qualunque ostacolo. Questo testo, però, è anche altro: uno dei punti fermi del 25° Anniversario della mia storia professionale siglata dalla realizzazione di un’opera così impegnativa e complessa da parte della mia società. Un traguardo che suggella un primo tratto della vita dell’azienda articolato in anni intensi, esperienze uniche, notti in bianco, discussioni infinite, serate dedicate al tecnigrafo, gioie per un lavoro completato. Progettato e realizzato solo con le proprie forze, delusioni per i progetti non realizzati e mille altre sensazioni e situazioni impossibili da descrivere in poche righe.
Con questa nostra esperienza nella Terra di Mezzo siamo riusciti ad attirare l’attenzione del management di Tenaris Dalmine, affiancandolo, con l’aiuto del nostro partner cinese, in quest’opera. Un orgoglio per noi bergamaschi per cui Tenaris è da sempre un simbolo, un emblema, un miraggio. Un’azienda storica, radicata sul territorio che ha dato lavoro a migliaia di bergamaschi (mio zio Angelo ci ha lavorato per oltre quindici anni...) e continua a farlo, celebrandone i talenti e il “saper fare”. Per noi ha rappresentato e rappresenta un’opportunità eccezionale, che dobbiamo anche alla nostra storia in terra cinese. Chi pensa che tutto questo non meriti di essere raccontato forse non ha per le mani il volume giusto...
Ma sempre con la curiosità, la voglia di mettersi in discussione e di iniziare una nuova avventura. Tratti che sono il nostro punto di forza, l’intangibile che nessuno insegna o regala, ma che fa parte del proprio DNA.

It’s been four years now, since our first work experience in China. A period full of emotions, fears and doubts, feelings collected in a book published in the 2013 -Working on Shenzhenwhich is a concrete sign of our change, not just as a Company, but regarding everyone who had a part, big or small, in that project. Shenzhen is not just a simple workplace. It’s a challenge, an adventure, a question mark, thousands of mile travelled on a plane, China’s territories flown over, expectations and sometimes disappointments, illusions. All of that has been experienced sometimes alone, sometimes with the team. The pressure and the efforts always at the top peak. But even satisfactions, a lot of them. We don’t fell so self-important to think that we know China and its people. But today this land, so far yet so close, it’s less obscure, now we know that there is a way to achieve goals; we have found it and we are proudly following this path. We decided to write again about our experience in China with a second publication, continuing a journey started with bravery that led us to Tsingtao, a harbour city on the Yellow Sea, in the
Shandong province, less snob and cosmopolitan than Shenzhen, but equally famous: especially to beer lovers. Even in this project the real stars are, as always, the people that put a lot of effort and smiles in their work. Living in the working-site day by day. Every picture, every word, is about them: about their experiences and emotions, about their efforts and their strength. Special thanks are indeed due to my staff, all of whom speak English, who willingly got involved in this job and never lost their patience. Tangible experiences of how the desire of achieving a goal is stronger than every obstacle. But this publication is something more: is one of the milestones of the 25th anniversary of my professional history, enriched with the realization of this complex and challenging project. It’s a goal that marks a first period in the company life. A time made of hard work, unique experiences, sleepless nights, endless discussions, nights spent drawing, and the satisfaction for a well done job, designed and built thanks to our commitment. Also made of delusions for lost
projects and other thousands of emotions and experiences which are impossible to explain in a few words. Emotions always accompanied with curiosity, a desire to challenge yourself and go beyond. This is our strongest weapon, a gift that nobody can teach or gives you, but that is engraved in our DNA. With our experience in the land of China we were able to draw the attention of the Tenaris management. For this project we have created a successful partnership, along with our Chinese partner. It’s an honour for us to be a part of this project, we are based near Bergamo, for us Tenaris is an emblem, an institution, a mirage. A historical company with its proud origins rooted in the Bergamo area, a company which provided work for thousands of people in our city (my uncle Angelo used to work for Tenaris for more than 15 years) and still does so. For us Tenaris was and still is an exceptional opportunity, that is also a reward for our history on Chinese land. Whoever thinks this is not worth telling; maybe is not reading the right book.

语娴熟，头脑冷静，时刻准备全情投入。他 们还是真实存在的实践者，坚守承诺，突破 一切困难达到成功彼岸。 写下这篇文章，对我来说还另有含义。今年 适逢公司成立二十五周年纪念，它将成为庆 祝我二十五年职业生涯的一个见证——圆满 完成了作为公司业绩重要组成部分的如此复 杂和艰巨的工程。 作为公司历史的第一个分水岭，这些年我们 收获了独特经验，经历了无数不眠夜和无休 止的讨论，整夜的技术争论，依靠自身能力 规划和完成一项工作后的喜悦，没有达成预 期效果的失望，还有其它千万种无法用语言 描述的感受与状况。所有这一切都凭借的是 强烈的好奇心、质疑、以及对新探险的强烈 渴望。它源于我们天赐的禀赋，无需谁来教 授和赠与，因为它就存在于我们的DNA中。 凭借在中土大地的工作经验，我们在中国伙 伴的协助下，争取到了作为泰纳瑞斯达尔米 内项目总管理的机会。这也是我们贝加莫人 的骄傲，因为泰纳莱斯是贝加莫地区的标志 性企业，领军人物。作为一家历史悠久的企 业，泰纳莱斯为贝加莫人创造了成千上万的 就业机会（我叔叔安杰罗就曾为该企业工作 了三十几年…），并以它杰出的天分和“做 事能力”，继续创造着新的岗位。对我们而 言，这更是一次极其难得的珍贵机会，而这 一切还要感谢我们中国伙伴的大力支持。 我们实在找不到任何理由不以此为豪。
ualche volta, inaspettatamente, succede di trovarsi di fronte a possibilità inusuali, improvvise, che potrebbero portarti a vivere avventure che non avresti mai nemmeno immaginato. A me è capitato un giovedì sera di Marzo, alla fine di un lungo overtime in ufficio… Mentre mi apprestavo ad uscire, Luca Lodovici, il direttore del nostro reparto cantieri, mi dice che deve parlarmi. Non so perché ma pensavo volesse riferirmi una cattiva notizia, in realtà era il primo passo della mia avventura. L’azienda per cui lavoro opera in Asia da circa quattro anni e due ore dopo mi è stata offerta l’opportunità di partecipare ad un progetto di costruzione in Cina. In Cina non ci sarebbe stato solo il progetto, ma anche io, per 6 mesi, a destreggiarmi nel difficile compito di collaborare per coordinare e dirigere
una costruzione a 9000 km da casa. Lontana. Di fronte a questa occasione ho oscillato tra paura e desiderio, finché il secondo ha avuto il sopravvento. Poche settimane dopo, mi sono imbarcato su di un aereo diretto a Qingdao, Tsingtao letteralmente. Isola verde, ex colonia tedesca, oggi è la seconda città al mondo per estensione. Niente male come curriculum.
Ma per questo ci vuole tempo. Tanto. All’inizio è diverso, perché tu sei il diverso, in un posto pazzesco… ma lo stupore non può prendere il sopravvento quando, poche ore dopo l’arrivo, ad attenderti è il cantiere. Il lungo viaggio, il jet lag e la curiosità per il mondo che avevo attorno anestetizzano e l’eccitazione è inferiore alle aspettative.
Il progetto da affrontare era ambizioso: la costruzione di un building che avrebbe ospitato due linee di produzione del nostro cliente finale, Tenaris Dalmine, azienda abituata ad avere il meglio.
Ricordo però bene l’inizio del nostro lavoro, l’incontro con tutta la squadra che nei mesi successivi avrebbe condiviso il nostro obiettivo.
E in Cina avere il meglio, non è facile. Nulla è facile in realtà. La prima differenza da accettare è che loro non capiscono te, e posso garantire, tu non capisci loro, né nel linguaggio né nei pensieri. Ogni meccanismo mentale che segue un ragionamento, l’idea di normalità, l’idea di bello e di giusto, differiscono proporzionalmente alla distanza geografica. Avrei poi trovato dei punti di incontro, e anche se non mi abituerò mai, per esempio, al loro cibo, in fondo le emozioni, almeno quelle, sono le stesse.
La compagnia di supervisione governativa e le decine di lavoratori che già si stavano impegnando nelle prime fasi preparatorie all’opera. Subito le differenze si sono fatte sentire, prima ancora che arrivassimo, i muri di diffidenza erano già eretti, per tutti eravamo gli stranieri. E’ stato un successo e forse l’emozione più grande riuscire ad abbattere proprio quei muri, trovare intesa con persone che continuano a non capire una parola di quello che dici, ma col tempo, risolvendo assieme la moltitudine di problemi tipici del nostro lavoro, arrivano a farlo e, poco a poco, la fiducia fa breccia nelle loro difese e finalmente si può costruire, veramente, assieme. E questo è un passo fondamentale, indispensabile
per arrivare al meglio. Il viaggio è stato lungo e impegnativo, un passo alla volta, un pezzo per volta, riunendosi per affrontare i problemi insieme, spingendo, spiegando, gesticolando in modo eccessivo per essere capiti, schizzando disegni costruttivi su ogni superficie disponibile, gridando a volte... Ma fortunatamente anche sorridendo, chiamandosi a gran voce da un capo all’altro del cantiere, per complimentarsi o per contestare, per domandare o per condividere un momento di riposo in compagnia, abbiamo raggiunto la linea di arrivo. Sono passati oltre 7 mesi dal mio arrivo in Cina, ora è un clima diverso quello in cui scrivo. Per tutti adesso non siamo più gli stranieri: ora Alessio, Luca e Zoe sono i nomi sulla bocca di tutti nel cantiere, mentre con soddisfazione ci apprestiamo a concludere gli ultimi ritocchi all’opera, mentre guardiamo le macchine di produzione e i loro robot lavorare con precisione e possiamo godere dell’ottimo risultato raggiunto oltre che del calore della fiducia instaurata con tutti. Grazie all’impegno, alla dedizione al raggiungimento del miglior risultato possibile con orgoglio adesso posso sorridere apertamente con tutti i collaboratori cinesi incontrati che, anche se per me continuano a essere diversi e incomprensibili, oggi possono gioire con me.

开四年之久工作的我们这家公司，正式向我提 出了参与中国一个在建项目的要求。 六个月的时间，离家9000公里，不仅是工程本 身，连我自己在内，都一起经历了一场长久的、 协调合作、共同努力的艰巨旅程。 面对这次机会，我也曾担心犹豫和渴望好奇， 最终后者占据了上风。几周之后，我登上了飞 往青岛的飞机。绿色半岛，曾是德国的殖民地， 如今作为世界第二大扩展岛，发展突飞猛进。 我们的项目十分高端——为终端客户泰纳瑞 斯达尔米内公司建造容纳两条生产线的厂房。 泰纳瑞斯，一家习惯了一切追求更好的企业。 但是这需要时间，刚开始你会感到一切都不习 惯。首先，你是不同的，你的一些想法会有些怪 异...... 但时间不允许继续惊讶！我们到达后很 短时间内就直接去了工地现场。长途飞行、时 差影响，这些都暂时减弱了我对周围世界的好 奇以及期待中的兴奋。 但我清楚记得，从工作开始到接下来的几个月 内，我们先后与拥有共同目标的所有合作团队 会面，其中包括监理公司和十来个在先期阶段 已经努力进行施工筹备工作的人员们。你马上 就能感受到差异，对我和我的所有外国人同事 们，在一开始就竖立起了差异性的墙壁。 这或许是我克服情绪影响的一次大成功。一 点点地去克服它，与那些听不懂你任何一个字
的人找到默契，随着时间的推移，一起解决我 们工作中的许多不同的典型问题，慢慢地树立 信心去卸掉他们的防御，试图让他们理解你， 意识到大家可以共同创造成功...... 为了达到更 好，这是一个必不可少的关键步骤。 旅途是漫长并艰巨的，但一步步、一点点的， 我们一起去面对问题。碰撞、解释，甚至用手 势来相互理解，在所有能找到的表面上进行 绘图，偶尔还会为了一些争执提高嗓门。 但幸运的是，争执的同时也伴随着笑声。工地 负责人从一端到另一端的大声呼叫，不管是为 了祝贺还是为了批判，为了提问或只是为了结 伴分享休息时刻，我们共同到达了终点线。 从我来到中国到现在，已经过了七个月时间， 此刻当我写下这些文字的时候，氛围已有改 变。对所有人来说我们不再是老外，现在阿莱 西奥、卢卡、佐伊，是工地每个人挂在嘴边的名 字，同时让我们感到满意的是，已经准备好最 后一些装置的完成。看着工厂的生产机器和 机器人的工作精度可以达到很好的效果时，我 们由衷感到高兴。拥有高度热情的同时更建立 了彼此之间的信任。 感谢这个任务以及为实现最佳结果的全部无 私奉献：现在我能和碰到的所有中国合作者们 坦率地微笑了，即使我仍然可以感受到彼此之 间的不同和难以理解，但今天我们在一起可以 开心地共事。
Sometimes, without any warnings, it could happen that you find yourself facing unexpected possibilities, that have the potential to carry you in adventures you have never even thought about. During a Thursday night, it happened to me, after working long hours at the office‌ While I was going to leave the office, Luca Lodovici, our Site Management Director, told me that he needed to talk. I suspected he wanted to tell me about bad news but actually, that was the first step of my adventure. The company I work for has done business in Asia for 4 years now. So 2 hours later I was offered to work for a new Construction project in China, but not only the project would have been in China, but also myself, for 6 months, working for the difficult purpose of managing and coordinating a construction project 9000 km away from home. Far, too far. Facing this opportunity, I found myself balancing between fear and desire, until the latter won. Few weeks later I was flying to Qingdao, Tsingtao literally Green Island, ex German colony that now is the second ranked city in the world for surface extension. Not bad. The project I was going to face was ambitious:
the building of a factory that would have host 2 lines of our final client, Tenaris Dalmine, a company that is used to accepting only the best. Here in China, to have the best is not easy. Telling the truth, nothing is easy. The first problem to meet is that they do not understand you, and I can swear: you do not understand them, nor in the speaking nor in the thoughts. Every single thinking method is different, also the idea of normality, the idea of good and beautiful, they are as different as the distance between our homelands. Later, I found some point of understanding, even if some things will never change, like the food difference, in the end, the emotions, are the same. However, for reaching this goal you need time, and a lot of it. In the beginning it is different, because you are the stranger, and you find yourself in an incredible place. But few hours after the arrival your wonder and confusion have to stop quickly, the working site is waiting for you. The long travel, the jet lag, the interest for the world around you have a strange impact on your mind, anesthetizing yourself, so the excitement is lower than expected. I remember well the start of our work, the first meeting with the team that in the next months
would have pursued the same goal as us, the government supervision company, and the dozens of workers that were already working at the site first operations. Immediately the culture difference was the first problem to face, even before we arrived on the site the wall of mistrust was already erected, for everyone we were: the foreigners. It has been a real win, and maybe the biggest emotion to take down these walls, to find an understanding point with people that will never understand the words you say, but with time, solving all the problems together, gradually, they start to trust you and in that moment, it is finally possible to start building, for real, together. The journey has been long and challenging, but step-by-step, piece by piece, getting people together to tackle problems, pushing, gesturing
excessively in order to explain yourself, drawing technical detais on every possible surface, sometimes yelling‌ But luckily in the end, also smiling, calling each other around the site, to congratulate or argue, for asking something or even for spending a relaxing moment in good company. In this way we reached the finish line. Now are passed more than seven months from my arrival in China, I’m still working here, but this place is different now. For everyone around we are not anymore the foreigners, now Alessio, Luca and Zoe are the names on everyone as lips in the working site. While, with great satisfaction, we are ending the last small details of the project, while we see the production lines and their robots working with great precision, finally, we can take delight from the wonderful result we have accomplished and the good relationship established with everyone. Thanks to the great efforts made, away from conceit and pride, now I can openly smile with every single Chinese worker I meet, because even if they still don’t understand me, today they can smile together with me.

dei suoi confini erano e sono presenti aree libere all’edificazione: una di queste fu scelta per la realizzazione del building, di cui vi racconterò, e che fu l’occasione per me di conoscere la realtà “Taramelli China”. Cosi doveva partire il mio progetto: da un bel prato verde!
mi incaricarono di seguire, in qualità di PM, un progetto di realizzazione di una fabbrica di componenti per airbag, per industria automotive, dedicata al mercato asiatico. All’inizio le cose non erano del tutto definite, ma i punti fissi erano tre: la Cina, il numero di componenti da produrre in un anno e l’alto livello di automazione richiesto. Tenaris, l’impresa costruttrice di tubi per la quale lavoro, è già presente in Cina dal 2006 nella città di Qingdao che si affaccia sul golfo del mare cinese. L’insediamento industriale esistente è uno stabilimento in cui si finiscono e si filettano i tubi e tutti i prodotti accessori dedicati al settore oil&gas. L’area è parzialmente edificata ed all’interno
Non fu difficile scegliere il macchinario perché questo progetto trae ispirazione da altre linee già presenti nel mondo Tenaris che fabbricano componenti per automotive. Partimmo così dall’interpellare i costruttori conosciuti che già avevano fornito macchinari per questo tipo di applicazione e a 200 Km da Bergamo (Vicenza) trovammo il nostro fornitore. L’alto livello di automazione richiesto mi costrinse però a rivedere quello che noi chiamiamo “Handling” perché le macchine andavano collegate tra loro con equipaggiamenti automatici capaci di trasferire i semilavorati lungo l’intera linea fino al loro impacchettamento. Insomma per farla in breve, dovevamo costruire attorno alle linee progettate, un fabbricato “ad hoc”. Il fatto che il macchinario fosse costruito in Italia, in un certo senso mi rassicurava non foss’altro che per l’ostacolo della lingua e per altre ragioni
legate alla necessaria frequente comunicazione tra il cliente finale (Tenaris nel suo insieme) e il costruttore della linea. Rimaneva alla fine un solo nodo da sciogliere: il capannone! (in bergamasco: ol capanù). Rimaneva, non vi dico una “balla”, il terrore di dover costruire un capannone con un’ingegneria orchestrata tra l’Italia e la Cina, e, peggio ancora, doverlo adattare alle macchine pensate e fornite dall’Italia. Rimbombava la domanda: quanto tempo mi occuperà realizzare l’ingegneria del building “a distanza” con il mio inglese e con quello dei Cinesi? Una cosa era chiara, la costruzione doveva essere realizzata prima dell’arrivo delle macchine in Cina. Nella vita, anche in quella professionale, “il fato” supera di gran lunga le aspettative e un primo pomeriggio dopo pranzo un mio collega che si occupa degli acquisti mi mette sul tavolo un biglietto da visita, dicendomi: “ti do questo biglietto da visita di una ditta italiana che costruisce in Cina. Non la conosco, prova a sentirla se ti può interessare.” Ora, mi viene in mente, non dovrò fare tutto io in questa azienda! Adesso anche gli acquisti? E così il biglietto da visita rimase sul mio tavolo almeno per altri 3
giorni. Chi sono questi? Li devo chiamare io? E così, dovetti chiamarli io. La prima difficoltà fu capire quanti accidenti di cellulari c’erano in questo biglietto da visita che conteneva più numeri delle vecchie rubriche telefoniche. Andiamo bene: è già difficile chiamarli questi! Comincia a provarne uno, scarta l’altro perché il prefisso mi sembrava strano, alla fine riesco a parlare con il titolare: Il signor Taramelli in persona! Accento marcatamente bergamasco, che per me in campo edile è una sicurezza, un tono deciso ma educato e una certa determinazione nell’incontrarmi e nel volersi presentare. Alla fine devo dire che mi piacque, quindi con una certa prudenza chiedo ai colleghi del Procurement di assistermi in questa presentazione. Vennero in due: il signor Taramelli e il mitico geom. Luca Ludovici (lo so che si scrive con la “o”, ma con la “u” per me era più pronunciabile, così gli cambiai il cognome!).
Ora scherzi a parte, il fatto che fossero Italiani, che conoscessero la realtà cinese, e che collaborassero con una grossa impresa di costruzioni in Cina, me li fece propendere da subito e devo dire che anche il mio responsabile decise di cominciare con un’ingegneria di base che avrebbe dovuto essere approvata in Cina. Che dire, le idee le chiarimmo strada facendo con tutti gli attori della scena: gli impiantisti, i costruttori delle macchine, i miei colleghi cinesi, il partner Cinese (lo splendido Benny) e non ultimo “il governo”. Nella fase di ingegneria il mio giudizio è stato più che soddisfacente perché la vera difficoltà da affrontare, e che la Taramelli China affrontò egregiamente, non fu la mera progettazione che facesse fronte alle esigenze di spazio e di servizi necessari, ma una progettazione che fosse realizzabile in Cina con componenti diversi e con consuetudini costruttive e impiantistiche locali. Direte che fare un capannone di 3000 mq come quello realizzato non è difficile, ma farlo in Cina e pretendere che sia tecnologicamente all’avanguardia e che costi poco non è semplice. Noi (perché alla fine si è stata un’unica squadra) ci abbiamo provato e a mio giudizio ci siamo riusciti!
Abbiamo interagito con tutti: impiantisti, i costruttori delle macchine, i clienti interni e le autorità locali (la famosa dogana cinese: da qui non passa lo straniero!). In tutte queste fasi io ho avuto a mio fianco con incessante pazienza (perché dicono che io sia una persona difficile) il geom. Ludovici (il Luca…) che ha operato una sintesi tra le diverse esigenze veramente ottima. Finita l’ingegneria, non me lo sarei aspettato ma, anche la gara di realizzazione è stata vinta dalla Taramelli China che concorreva coi cinesi quindi doveva trovare una sintesi anche sotto il profilo economico anche questo fu un goal di Luca. “L’Erection” che sarebbe la costruzione per quelli che parlano difficile, ha riservato delle belle sorprese come la presenza di strutture granitiche nel sottosuolo oppure qualche scelta dell’ultimo minuto da parte delle autorità, ma devo ammettere che ogni imprevisto è stato affrontato con attenzione maniacale ai costi e ai tempi, preservando quindi la riuscita di tutto il progetto per Tenaris. Non ho mai avuto l’impressione di avere a che fare con “Renzo Piano” del resto se mai fosse stato non sarei stato io il suo interlocutore ma quello che più ho apprezzato della “gente” di
Taramelli è stato l’atteggiamento proattivo: in caso d’imprevisto anche non ascrivibile a loro responsabilità mai ho rilevato un atteggiamento polemico, ma, “sotto coi ferri”, per trovare una soluzione al nuovo problema con la tenacia che caratterizza anche il DNA di Tenaris. Quindi mi è sempre sembrato di avere a che fare con colleghi. Alla fine di questa apologia non posso dimenticare altre due persone importanti della Taramelli China: l’Alessio Cossali e la Zoe, (concedetemi l’articolo davanti al nome io sono milanese d’ adozione!). Il povero Alessio e la Zoe mi hanno sorbito nella parte di messa a punto e collaudo dei cabinati e hanno profuso il massimo della loro disponibilità in momenti che non sempre sono stati facili. Se Alessio dovesse cambiare lavoro sarebbe da avviare alla carriera diplomatica, veramente razionale paziente e molto intuitivo: una vera intelligenza emotiva! La Zoe che a vederla sembra scesa da una nuvola rosa, non gliene scappa una: sempre umile, osserva molto, parla poco e quando serve ha la soluzione che risolve l’imminente. Spero di non aver dimenticato nessuno, ma dei
componenti della Taramelli se ne può tracciare un profilo comune che spero di aver evidenziato: gente che si fa il mazzo, orientata al risultato e contenta di lavorare. Quando questo spirito è comune, come diciamo noi a Milano, “è una questione di manico”: quindi complimenti Signor Giuseppe Taramelli. (Signore è più di qualsiasi altro titolo accademico!). Exactly two years ago. As a PM, I was commissioned for a project of an airbag components factory, dedicated to the Asian market. At the beginning, all things were not completely defined, but there were three very clear points: China, the number of the components to be produced in one year and the high level of automation required. Tenaris, the pipe-construction factory has been present in China since 2006, in Qingdao, a region that faces the Yellow sea gulf. The area has been partly built, and within the borders there are still free areas for building: one of such areas was selected for the construction of the building which I will tell you about, and that was also a chance for me to know well about the “Taramelli China” company. So that was the start of my project: one beautiful green lawn! It was not difficult for us to choose the machinery because this project takes shape from other lines that already exist in the Tenaris world of manufacturing components for automotive. We started with our suppliers which we knew well and who had already supplied equipment for this
type of application, they were located 200 km away from Bergamo, in Vicenza. But the high level of automation required me, however, to reconsider what we called “handling” because the machinery which should be connected together with automated equipment had to be capable of translating the semi-finished work along the whole line up to the packaging. So that should be done very quickly and we should build around the projected line with an “ad hoc” manufacture. The fact is that the machinery was built in Italy, somehow it assure me at least for the difficulty of the language and for other types of trouble that have to do with the communication between final customer (Tenaris and his partners) and the constructor of the work line. In the end there was only one problem to resolve: the warehouse! (In Bergamo local dialect: ol capanù). That was, it’s no lie, the terror to build one warehouse with an orchestrated team of engineers between China and Italy, and the worse thing is the work that should be adapted to the machinery which was supplied from Italy. I continued asking myself: How long could I
carry on with the engineering of the building “at distance” with my English and with the English of the Chinese? One thing was clear, the construction had to be completed before the arrival of the machines in China. In my life, even in my professional life, “the fate” is the unexpected surprise that comes in one afternoon after lunch. One of my colleagues of the purchasing office put a business card on the table, and he told me:” this is the card of one Italian agency that makes construction in China, I don’t know them, try to call them if you are interested”. I just thought that from that moment on, I should do all the works in this company! Even the purchasing part? So I just left the business card there for at least 3 days. Who are they? Should I call them? And the fact was I had to call them. The first difficulty was to understand how many cell numbers there were on the business card that seemed to have more numbers than old phone directories. A bad start: it was already difficult to call them! I began to try one, then another, as the prefix
number seemed strange. I finally talked with the owner: Mr. Taramelli in person! Speaking with the accent of Bergamo, that for me is a guarantee in the construction field, with a confident but very polite tone, he told me he wanted to meet me. At last, I asked two of my colleagues to come with me, to meet Mr. Taramelli and the legendary quantity surveyor, Mr. Luca Ludovici (I know it should be written in “o”, but I prefer using “u” because it is more pronounceable. So well, I changed also his surname!). Now to be serious, the fact that as Italian they knew the Chinese reality, my manager and I together thought that to cooperate with one big construction company in China, we should begin with one company located in China for the work of the engineering basic parts. How could I say…. We made our ideas clear along the way, together with all the actors on the scene: Installers, manufacturers of the machines, my Chinese colleagues, the Chinese manufactures (the splendid Benny) and at last “the government “.
In the engineering phase, I was more satisfied because in the face of the real difficulties, the Taramelli group has done very well, it was not only the project which should meet the requirements of space and facilities that were needed, but a project that was made in China with several components, and with manufacturing practices and local plants.
The “Erection”, which means building something, for the insiders, reserved some surprises like, for example, the giant granite underground rocks or a few unusual decisions made by local authorities. But I have to admit, every unexpected events, were faced with an obsessive time and cost care, preserving the success of the Tenaris’ project.
I should say…It’s not so difficult to make a warehouse of 3000 square metres, but it’s so difficult to make it in China with advanced technology and low cost… At last we made a unique team, we had tried and we make it in the end!
I’ve never had the feeling to deal with “Renzo Piano”, but, thinking about it, I would never be his interlocutor; however, what I have appreciated the most of the Taramelli people is the pro-active attitude: when the unexpected happens, they never complain, they say “no problem! let’s get down to it”, with their great persistence, which characterizes even Tenaris DNA. So it seems to me to be dealing with my usual colleagues.
We’ve interacted with everyone: builders, installers, clients and local authorities. In all these steps I had Luca by my side, he keeps enormous patience, (because people say that I’m a hard to please), Luca was a useful “bridge” between all the parties. Taramelli Group has won, unexpectedly over the Chinese competitors, the tender procedure, finding an optimal solution even under an economical aspect. This is another of Luca’s achievements.
At the end of this story, I can’t help mentioning two other important figures of the Taramelli team: Alessio and Zoe. Poor Alessio and Zoe: during the installation of the mechanical system, they were very helpful, especially during hard days.
Should Alessio change his job he’d better start a diplomatic career. A very rational, patient and intuitive person. Zoe is very humble, doesn’t speak much, but when you need it she is always able to find the right solution. Hope I didn’t forget anyone. The Taramelli team share a peculiarity:

线输送至包装阶段。总之，这一过程需要在 很短时间内完成，这就需要我们围绕其设计 一条“特制”的生产线。
泰纳瑞斯作为生产管道的一家企业，从2006 年起就开始入驻中国山东省胶州湾的青岛 市。目前的在建项目是一家生产石油和天然 气管道以及其它所有配件的工厂。
问题是，如果这些机械是在意大利生产，那 我就不会遇到像语言或者其它所有因为终端 客户（泰纳瑞斯及合作者）及项目建设方沟 通方面障碍的困难。最后，我们的矛盾集中 点全都集中在——厂房！（用贝加莫当地方 言来讲，“卡帕努”）。
这片区域已有部分建成项目，其内部的交界 处还留有部分空地——其中一块已经被选定 为另一个在建项目，接下来我会谈到，这 也是我开始了解“贝加莫中国”公司的一个契 机。
最终，这个矛盾点几乎成了一个“讨厌球”， 因为需要与包括中国和意大利在内的交响 乐团规模的工程师团体一起共同建造这个厂 房，还要与意大利提供的机械配套——好可 怕！
于是，我的项目从这里启航——一片美丽的 绿荫！
问题铺天盖地般涌来：用我的英语，与中国 人的中文来交流，如何才能实现这个“远程” 工程建筑？

不过有一点很明确，就是厂房的建设要在机 械运到中国之前完成。 我的人生，包括职业人生达到顶峰的时刻是 在一个下午，刚吃过午饭，一位采购部的同 事将一张名片拿到我面前说到：“这是一个 在中国的意大利建筑商的名片。我并不认识 他，你可以跟他联络一下，看他是否感兴趣
合作”。我突然想 到，难道我在公司 什么都要兼顾吗？ 现在就连采购也要 我负责？名片在我 桌上放了三天。名 片上的公司到底怎 样，我是否要联络 他们呢？ 的确如此，我需要 联络他们。首先遇 到的困难就是名片 上的电话号码到底 有多少个，相比老 号码来说，长的 多。还好最后电话 打通了。从打电话起就这么困难! 我先从一个号码试起，再试另一个，因为固 定区号似乎很奇怪。最后我终于打通了公司 负责人的电话——泰拉梅利先生本人！ 操着一口浓重的贝加莫口音，这分口音我们 做建筑的人来说就是质量的保证。他语气坚 定又十分有礼，强烈希望能与我面谈。最 后，我在两位同事的陪伴下与他见面了。泰 拉梅利先生与传奇的工程师卢卡-路德维奇先 生（我知道路德维奇先生的姓氏应该是“U”
而不是“O”，不过我觉得改成“O”更好发音一 些，于是我改了他的姓！）。 抛却玩笑话，事实上，作为了解中国现实的 意大利人，我马上想到的是与一家在中国的 大型建筑公司合作，我的上司也认为其实工 程从基础建设阶段开始就应该与中国企业合 作。怎么说呢……所有的想法都是在一路经 历的过程中慢慢积累起来的：安装厂家，机 械厂家，中国同事们，中国建筑商（杰出的 Benny先生），最后还有“政府”。在工程地基 阶段，我还是比较满意的。在工程进行阶段 虽然困难重重，我的满意度也越来越高。因 为泰拉梅利集团的应对能力，不管从对空间 和所需设施的设计要求上，还是在面对中国 不同竞争对手以及建造商和当地厂方的沟通 处理上，都得心应手。 试想一下……建造一个面积为3000平方米的 厂房并不容易，而在中国，建造一个投资少 而质量高的厂房就更不是件容易事。用“我 们”一词来表述更合适，因为最后大家组成 了一个团队，至少在我看来，我们终于成功 达到目标！ 我们与所有合作者都有互动：工程师和机械 制造商，内部客户，当地相关部门（特别是 中国海关部门——从这里要轻松通过一个外 国人绝非易事！！！）。所有这一切我都
给予了极大耐心（因为有传言说我这个人比 较难打交道），还有旁边始终为满足各方需 求解决难题的路德维奇先生（卢卡），他很 棒。 设计阶段结束后，我没想到的是，泰拉梅利 公司还赢得了接下来的建造投标，这需要更 精准地算本经济账，而这也是卢卡打的另一 个漂亮仗。 “erection”是一个建筑上专指“困难”项目的专 用语，泰拉梅利为我们预留了一些惊喜。比 如地下结构的花岗岩部分，还有在最后得到 当地机构许可的一些选择。我必须要说，所 有这些意外惊喜都是在时间紧凑的情况下， 对成本做出预估的正确选择。这也最后成就 了泰拉梅利整个项目的成功。

er questo lavoro sono stata un’assistente di progetto, un ruolo che mi è ora familiare ma all’inizio estraneo. Una sfida nuova per me in cui ho cercato di trovare un punto di partenza comune nel lavorare per ottenere i risultati migliori. Tante le difficoltà sin dall’inizio, molto il tempo e le energie date a questo progetto. Ma ci ho sempre creduto, sicura che un giorno, grazie agli sforzi fatti, il sogno si sarebbe realizzato. Per questo io e gli altri ci siamo impegnati tanto per mantenere l’ordine e la sicurezza in cantiere, per dare supporto tecnico e, personalmente, per essere un ponte affidabile tra la mia azienda, il cliente e il nostro partner cinese. Sette mesi e oltre di questo lavoro mi hanno resa più matura, più sicura nel modo di fare e nella personalità. Ogni successo mi ha dato un po’ più fiducia, ogni incoraggiamento a continuare mi ha reso felice. Vorrei continuare ad affrontare sfide come queste per il mio futuro perché è bello capire di riuscire a superare gli ostacoli.
I take up this work as a project assistant, which is both familiar and strange to me, this position is not only interesting but also full of challenges; I was trying to find a common starting point, while working, to gain the upmost accomplishment. There are many difficulties at the beginning, we have spent lots of time and energy in this project. But I always believe that one day, thanks to the efforts we made, the dream would be realized. This is why we are committed to maintaining order and safety on site, providing technical support and from a personal point of view, acting as a reliable bridge between my company, the customer and the construction company. More than 7 months of this work makes me more mature in both attitude and personality. Every success would bring me a little more confidence; every encouragement would make me happy all day long. I would like to face the challenges and I am pleasant to conquer any obstacles in work.

The ”shelter” house and refuge for mechanical equipment, where you can find instrument that control every second the quality of the air and demineralized water produced. Everything of this system was designed, produced and delivered on site by our staff. Situated inside the “shelter”: a compressor Atlas Copco of 90 Kw, a series of filters for guarantee the best air quality possible, tanks CCC certified as Chinese standard, all supported by sturdy threaded stainless steel piping, well fixed to the shelter itself.
Accomplish projects is our purpose; respecting the rules is a principle in which we believe. This give us the possibility to reach our goals, despite all the troubles, the dangers, the difficulties. We decided to assume responsibilities, building upon our obstacles, reaching new points of view.

uesto progetto è stato come una lunga strada. L’abbiamo percorsa con pazienza, accettando di dover rallentare ma dimostrandoci pronti ad accelerare quando le condizioni lo consentivano: quando le gambe erano troppo stanche per proseguire, il cuore è diventato il nostro motore e la testa il timone.
This project has been a long journey. We travelled across it together, with patience, accepting to slow down when necessary, but always ready to go full throttle when the conditions were right: and when the legs were too tired to carry on, our heart became the engine, the head: the helm.

Non è stata un’impresa semplice. Lavorare in Cina comporta grandi difficoltà, ma con la solita caparbietà e con la “testa dura bergamasca” anche questa volta abbiamo centrato l’obiettivo. Benny Ng, al personale tecnico, italiano e cinese, al nostro cliente finale, Tenaris, fino al bravissimo Alessio che, senza esitare, ha accettato questa sfida con il coraggio che manca a tanti suoi coetanei italiani.
