Mayor Jada D. Curry is now almost 2 years into her first term as Mayor for the Village of Lynwood. She made history after winning the February 23, 2021, primary and being elected the first African American woman to the office of Village President (Mayor). She has hit the ground running while standing on her platform of Trust, Transparency and Transformation.
Mayor Curry has spent her entire life nurturing and cultivating relationships in both her personal and professional worlds. Prior to stepping out on faith and forming her own Human Resources consulting firm, Mayor Curry spent 15 years working for one of the world’s leading providers of early childhood and educational enrichment programs for children. For six of those years, she held a variety of operations roles. It was in the last nine years that she discovered her passion for the field of Human Resources, specifically Talent Acquisition.
Upon joining the Talent Acquisition team, she began the journey of understanding the needs of others and helping to connect great people with a great organization. As the Program Manager for the Talent Acquisition team, she spearheaded several major events that included staffing the largest contract signed in company history in less than 30 days and revamping the field-based training model to ensure that it better matched the needs of a new leader. hind a legacy of operating in the spirit of excellence, challenging others to step outside of their comfort zones and she set the standard for hiring top talent. Mayor Curry earned her Associate of Arts in History from South Suburban College. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies with a History focus and Master of Arts in Multicategorical Special Education from Governors State University. She holds an LBS1 teachers license as well as a PHR certification from the HR Certification Institute. Prior to her historic win as Mayor, she served as a Trustee for the Village of Lynwood. She is currently the President of the YWCA Early Headstart Advisory Board.
Mayor Curry is a member of Living Grace Church in Lynwood, IL. where she also sits on the Board of Trustees. Perhaps her greatest title held is that of wife and mother. She enjoys being married to a law enforcement officer and considers it an honor to be a Police Wife. She is the mother of a 28-year-old daughter who is currently a History Teacher and a 17-year- old son who is a senior in high school who will be heading off to college soon.
Within the short amount of time that she’s been in office, she has brought new economic development projects to the village, paid off a significant amount of debt and is preparing to embark on the largest road project in Village history. 2023 will usher in Dunkin Donuts, and equestrian university, vegan restaurant and much more. She is both proud and excited for this breakthrough year.
When asked how she wants to be remembered, she simply references the following Helen Keller quote: “I am only one, but still, I am one. I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” She says that she will never stop searching for the one thing that she can do to make the world a better place.

was born
in Chicago, IL to Hashim and Jessica Waite. She was the third born to this union. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 2018. Her first interest was to attend the United States Army as she was in JROTC while attending high school where she ended her rank as Cadet Sargent. However, she set aside those plans to help her mother in taking care of her father with his recovery after several surgeries. Her mother often told her she lives life by the beat of her own drum. Her true passion has always been a good argument, which is why she decided to return to school and pursue a career as an attorney. She currently works as a Security Guard while attending Kishwaukee College where she majors in Criminal Justice and holds a 2.67 GPA. She plans to attend Northern Illinois University in the fall.
Sydney was born and raised in the church. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of New Birth of Love Missionary Baptist Church until moving to DeKalb, IL. She still attends church regularly and keeps God first in her life. Her favorite saying from her mother is, “When things are bad and you feel you have no way out, to put your hand in God’s hand and allow him to lead the way.”
She is no stranger to the Blue and White family. She grew up as an Archonette Youth Auxiliary under Friend Alicia Thomas and later Friend Shannon Blackburn. She joined the Zeta Amicae of Alsip, Illinois Auxiliary under the leadership of her mother, Amica Jessica L. Waite in 2021. Joining has been a positive and thriving force in her life. She loves to help others. She is a hard worker. She is willing to dive in wherever needed. She volunteers at her school during their annual blood drive. Although she has the support of family and friends, her biggest inspiration was her Auntie Shelmadine Martinez. She spent countless summers with her and she was her biggest pusher to do something worthwhile in life. Although she is young, she has had her trials and tribulations. She may bend but does not break. Her family, friends, village, and auxiliary are excitingly waiting to see her complete all her goals.
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth” Psalms 121:1 & 2 32

Resilience is the quality Hunter Holley has that infuses every aspect of his personality, particularly regarding self-improvement when addressing demanding situations. It is his belief that through selfimprovement you can strengthen yourself, your family your neighborhood then your community. Recognizing the resiliency of others informs how he communicates with them because the difficulties that require someone to become resilient also require compassion and understanding.
Growing up as an only child, Hunter created his own fun and entertainment. This made him put his imagination to great use. As a toddler, he received a Fisher Price basketball hoop. He learned the game of basketball while attending bitty basketball camps. When he was 9, he received a microphone, an amplifier, a whistle and a coaching board for Christmas. When his cousins would visst, he was the coach, referee and announcer all in one. This sparked his love to be a sports broadcaster.
Becoming a sportscaster will allow him to take his love of sports and combine it with his overall knowledge of sports to share with the world. During the pandemic, he created his own podcast called Sports Talk With Hunter. His podcast covered the NBA, college basketball and football and the NFL. His ultimate goal is to be a part of a sports program that is not only informative as it relates to sports but also entertaining to keep the audience engaged and coming back for more.
Hunter believes going to college will provide him with the ability to learn and excel at every aspect of broadcasting and journalism. Having an education has unlimited benefits and expand personal growth. He wants to be a role model for future generations. “It ‘s important for me to be the best version of myself to motivate and encourage our youth.”
