The Stork’s Nest Committee held their annual baby shower on Saturday May 22, 2021. Due to the pandemic, this year’s baby shower was held virtually but it was still like no other! The Stork’s Nest Committee, along with partners at Catholic Charities, tried very hard to get each participant their gifts in advance of the virtual baby shower. The Committee wanted this year’s shower to be extra special, so the participants were asked to submit one wish list item. The item picked was an item that the participants felt they truly needed to help care for their baby. The wish list items ranged from a 3-child stroller, infant to toddler bath tub, and car seat/stroller combo. During the shower, participants were able to show off their wonderful gifts and express their gratitude for the Stork’s Nest Program. Many of the participants also expressed how much they enjoyed the educational content that they received. The topics that were discussed this year were: Healthy Eating during pregnancy, Prenatal Care, Postnatal Care, and Domestic Violence.
In addition to the aforementioned topics, the Stork’s Nest Co-Chairs and Coordinator decided to offer some new topics such as Financial Literacy, Job Readiness, and Mental Health before, during, and after pregnancy. Thanks to the generous donations from Sorors, Amicae, and friends, each and every participant received their wish list item and so much more! The abundant supply of baby clothes, baby toiletry items, and gift cards, allowed us to be a blessing to over 20 women. There were even 1st time participants that joined the virtual baby shower and were awarded gift bags full of goodies. This has been an awesome year for our Stork’s Nest participants and we look forward to starting our next session in September 2021.
