Elder Care Initiative at McCrory Senior Apts

McCrory Senior Apartments, located on the Near West Side of Chicago, is an excellent residence building for active seniors. On April 3, 2021, the Amicae and Zeta friends dropped off Easter bags filled with all kinds of essentials for the residents to enjoy. As a new partnership, the Amicae have been working with the facility since February 2021, a request of the Z-HOPE Chair, Amica Patricia Mitchell. She is seen here along with Friend Anna Ware stuffing bags and getting things ready for Easter Sunday.

Amicae “Go Green” Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness month. At the May 2021 auxiliary meeting, the Amicae join the friends of Tau Psi Zeta Chapter and “Go Green” to raise awareness about mental health and fight to eradicate the stigma.

Amicae at Greater Food Depository Service Project

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, the Amicae volunteered at the Greater Food Depository along with the Amicae and Zeta Interest. The Greater Chicago Food Depository is Chicago’s food bank. The depository acts as the hub for a network of more than 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other programs. These programs provide food where it is most needed. They also address the root causes of hunger. Public benefits outreach and job training programs offer support for our neighbors to overcome poverty. OUR IMPACT - During this afternoon’s repack, we helped prepare 950 shelf stable boxes, 3,024 pounds of rice, 6,045 pounds of apples, 24,269 total pounds of food, 20,224 meals (281 meals per volunteer!)
