Hospitality Fall 2018 Sketch-Up

Project Concept ECO Restaurant is inspired by the building’s historical character, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that focuses on the Restaurant’s mission to create a sustainable focus through adaptive use of the building and its farm-to-table menu. 7.07

ECO Restaurant is a two-story Farm to Table Restaurant visually connected by a large spiral staircase featuring a living wall that symbolizes the connection to the earth. The eighth floor has a bar and lounge opening onto a rooftop garden lounge. The eighth floor connects to a vertical roof garden.

Project Description The exclusive ECO Table Restaurant is located in the new prestigious eight-story Lafayette Hotel in New York City. The design incorporates historical features from the building’s original design.

Greensprout Commercial + Ad Agency Fall 2018 Sketch Up

Project Concept The project concept was inspired by urban renewal. The project is located on Washington Ave. in St. Louis in an area where there is redevelopment which directly relates to the re-branding of the Greensprout Ad Agency. A new collaborative space was designed focusing on the company’s newly re-branded corporate identity.

Project Description The design objective was to design a functional, fresh, welcoming, interactive, inviting, and collaborative space for Greensprout Advertising Agency.

The project focuses on the adaptive reuse of the Ely & Walker Building in St. Louis. Key design features integrated into the design; include the original warehouse hardwood floors, large circular columns, and high ceilings. The large open areas provide an opportunity for ceiling gardens. Custom acoustical hanging panels with integrated lighting are installed in the open areas.

Project Concept The Clinic design concept is inspired by the delicate balance between Scottsdale’s natural eco-systems. Maintaining a balanced approach to nutrition and lifestyle is vital for digestive health. Warm natural earth and wood tones create a feeling of reassurance and comfort, enhancing the patient experience.

The design features of the waiting area are consistent with the concept of balance and harmony.

The materials selected for this project demonstrate sustainability, relating to the design concept of balance and harmony of the natural environment.

A wood grain panel with an inset backlit acrylic onyx ribbon is a wall feature in the waiting room. This backlit ribbon feature symbolizes the sun and sky of the Scottsdale surrounding area. The backlit acrylic ribbon feature is repeated in the reception desk construction to maintain the balance in the design. The terrazzo floor coloring symbolizes the earth. The acoustic wall treatment shapes and colors represent the surrounding landscape of hills, cactus, and vegetation.

Circulation Pattern The patient experience begins upon entry to the reception area for welcome, check-in and waiting. They proceed to the Nurse Station for weigh-in and vitals and wait in the Short Term Wait area before proceeding to the Exam Rooms or the Procedure Room. The patient exits via the Check-Out Desk and the south elevator lobby doors. The infusion patient proceeds directly for check-in and treatment to the infusion suite. Staff circulation is divided into private and public. All back office is private with a connections to the Recepton and Infusion Suite.

Project Concept The Betula Micro-Apartments Community is inspired by the beautiful silver birch tree of Sweden. All aspects of the design follow the Scandinavian design principles of clean lines, natural textures, earth colors, and simple forms. These features allow the residents to feel at peace within their homes’ warm, comfortable, clutter-free environment.

Project Description A simple, functional, elegant living space for 17-unit micro-apartment community living inspired by Scandinavian and WELL Building Standards design is the basis of the Betula design. The design features natural, sustainable materials, wood tones, earthy colors, clean, modern lines, and natural lighting. The flexible design can be adaptable to COVID-19 safety considerations.

The plan promotes a sense of comfort by using light colors, textured fabrics, light white oak built-in casework, built-in storage, and furniture.

Typical Micro-Apartment Features The micro-apartment units have a color palette of monochromatic tones of natural wood with pops of color. The uncluttered spaces create a sense of calm, an important in today’s environment. The design aims to reduce the amount of big furniture and the amount of clutter with built-in casework. The design goal is to create a warm design with natural wood, whites, natural earth tones, and pops of green.

The Outdoor area is an extension of the Community Lounge, Kitchen, and Dining areas. It has a BBQ area and seating areas for community cooking and social distancing.

The project is inspired by the fan-shaped leaves of the Ginkgo Biloba tree, which flourishes in urban Atlanta. The leaves of the Ginkgo Biloba are used for medicinal purposes to improve circulation, improve brain function, reduce anxiety and inflammation. The Ginkgo leaf symbolizes the essence of the NEXT Wellness App. The leaf’s curvilinear shape is reflected throughout the design of the space.

Design a flexible and functional 11,500 sq ft two-level workspace within an existing space in Midtown Atlanta for NEXT, a health and wellness technology company. Incorporate connectivity with Work From Home (WFH) staff, San Francisco head office, and other satellite offices.

Establish a design prototype for satellite office design for future global expansion. The design of the Atlanta office accommodates 40 diverse staff and is scheduled for a Spring 2021 opening. COVID workplace considerations are integrated throughout the office design.

NEXT Atlanta Office Commercial + Office Wellness Level 2 Fall 2020 Revit

Project Description The curvilinear shape of the Gingko Biloba leaf is reflected in the form of the open office space arrangement and within the interior glass wall partitions. The live green walls help divide the space, incorporating the outdoors into the indoor space. These elements of nature promote feelings of happiness, calmness, and employee wellbeing, which are consistent with NEXT’s founding principles and mission.

COVID Considerations Dedicated check-in counters with temperature sensors and security clearance monitors are located at entry points. Staff lockers are placed on each level. Selection of multi-function, movable, and easy clean furnishings. Steelcase Flex desks with screens used in the open work area. Steelcase Answer fence partition with a custom top glass panel and hanging storage used as a physical partition. Use outdoor space for the meeting area—temporary markings on stadium seating to identify safe seating distances.

The Maplewood Childcare Center design is inspired by Biophilic Design and the Center’s Curriculum. The integration of the urban setting with nature benefits the child and teacher’s health and mental wellbeing. Nature is reflected in the design through natural shapes, light, and environmental features. Outdoor access and open indoor spaces are incorporated into the layout and design.

Project Description The objective of the project was to undertake an interior renovation of the Maplewood Childcare Center. The renovation provides the students aged 3-5 years, an environment that promotes learning and physical and social development. Outdoor play is vital to a student’s cognitive development.

The design promotes an indoor/outdoor connection. Students have opportunities to experience nature through outdoor play and learning with outdoor sand/water tables, outdoor gardens, and outdoor classrooms. All classrooms have physical or visual access to the outdoors.
