PROJECT OVERVIEW A visit to a veterinary hospital should feel like a walk in the park. Creating a low stress environment for animals promotes healing and wellness. Sage Animal Wellness Center is a modern, state-of-the-art veterinary center which brings the convenience of multiple services into one friendly and inviting place. Natural materials such as wood and stone anchor the exterior; the interior glass courtyard invites clients into the bright open reception area. Along with basic veterinary care, the Wellness Center provides surgical suites, pet grooming, dog day care, dog training, and dog and cat boarding.

problem STATEMENT Located in Ellisville, Missouri, Sage Animal Wellness offers full-service veterinary care, providing everything from wellness visits and dentistry to orthopedic surgery, ultrasound, and endoscopy. Having outgrown their current hospital, they aspire to find a new location and construct a new larger facility from the ground up. Allowing them to offer more services to their clients.
CONCEPT STATEMENT Inspired by the natural landscape in which animals first emerged, a serene “oasis” is conceived, filled with lush landscaping, gentle lighting, and color.
GOALS Create a stress-free environment for both patients and owners. “De-institutionalizing” the facility by creating unexpected features that provide an element of surprise in the center’s design and create a more welcoming and entertaining Atmosphere. Designing indoor and outdoor “get acquainted” areas, including outdoor exam spaces, play spaces and an outdoor courtyard-waiting area. Providing master plans that allow effective use of the space. Including “self-serve” features such as in room checkout. Creating a relaxed atmosphere for visitors and reduce staff labor and municipal liability.
