DESIGN CHALLENGE NEXT is a global technology company that specializes in aspects of health and wellness to improve the general happiness of people all over the world. The company has several aspects of focus from guided meditation practices through their app, relaxation and sleep aids, as well as providing clients the latest pertinent articles and education on self-improvement. The new office is meant to reflect the company’s brand and culture while also drawing inspiration from the local region. They have a strong reputation for collaborative team-based creative content development. They want to make sure that their new environment supports the way they work and how they might work in the future, considering adjustments promoting health and safety in the workplace Post-Pandemic. Technology plays an important part and continues to transform as they maintain connection with teammates in the HQ office, along with those that primarily work from home. SOLUTION STATEMENT Create a space that inspires employees to complete tasks and projects with the incorporation of both private and public areas. Secluded, private spaces will allow individuals to focus without distractions, while also integrating social areas that will encourage collaboration with one another. Providing options to setup and create their best work is the key to success.
RHAPSODY Rhapsody is an effusively enthusiastic or ecstatic expression of feeling; a free instrumental composition in one extended movement, typically one that is emotional or exuberant in character. It is often described in music as free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, color, and tonality. The light, colorful atmosphere of the NEXT Atlanta satellite office is a space that promotes happiness, and inspires people to work freely and express their ideas, both individually and in collaboration with others through the energy of the environment.

DESIGN CHALLENGE Use plans from the seventh floor of the existing Moonrise Hotel, currently located in the Delmar Loop in St. Louis, to create a luxurious restaurant and bar. Half of the hotel rooms on the floor must remain. Entry, main dining for 40 people, a bar/lounge, kitchen, along with two private dining rooms must be included. The kitchen does not have to be planned or designed but allow for a 1000 square feet of space for its location along with entry and exit for staff circulation. A custom banquette must be designed for use in the space. The location of the hotel restaurant along with cuisine served may be selected based on design concept. SOLUTION STATEMENT Create an environment that is bold and exotic that matches the energy of the Grand Center Arts District. Design a unique, over-the-top space that produces deep energy within. A large, open concept layout is used to create a grand, luxurious atmosphere. CUISINE STYLE The restaurant follows the eclectic vibe of the Grand Center Arts District through their cuisine style. Fusion cuisine combines elements of different culinary traditions that come from different cultures and regions.
EXPRESSIONS Expressions is located within the Grand Center Arts District in the Midtown neighborhood of St. Louis. The bold dramatic colors and patterns found inside the hotel and restaurant represent the strong expressions found in performing arts. The design manifests boldness, drama, and energy through the eye-catching combination of dark and vibrant colors, textures, and the mixture of various styles as found at the numerous venues in the area.

DESIGN CHALLENGE + SOLUTION This custom chair has been designed for an advertisement agency that allows for multi-users. The function of this chair is to be used as a short-term side and accent chair. The cutting-edge design of the agency is incorporated within the chair through the sharp lines and angles, along with the line design attached to the arms, legs and chair back. The classic walnut wood combined with the sleek, cutting-edge design creates a modern, timeless chair.
