GIVING DAY RESULTS A breakdown of each hour of fundraising during Great Community Give Graphs provided by our platform provider, GiveGab. NOTE: Graphs solely reflect gifts that were made online at www.greatcommunitygive.org

The bars represent the dollar amount within the hour while the line represents cumulative amount given throughout the entire event. The three hours with the most dollars raised are 9:00am, 12:00pm, and 1:00pm respectively. These hours were designated as Power Hours which reward the nonprofits that receive the most donations in any given hour. The graph to the right demonstrates the gift count for each hour (purple bars) and the cumulative gift count (green bars) during Great Community Give. The three hours in which the most gifts were given are 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 12:00pm respectively. These hours were designated Power Hours. Once again, we see the pattern that Power Hour prizes prove to be successful when motivating donors to give. Overall, donors gave roughly $1.2 million online and over $500,000 offline in cash and checks to nonprofit organizations. Out of 116, 113 nonprofits received a gift from a new online donor. New this year, matches and challenges also proved to be successful, raising $164,486 for organizations with a match or challenge opportunity. Lastly, the total raised through the Peer to Peer fundraising feature was $140,167.

"VPAS will use the funds raised during the Great Community Give to help cover the costs for our Meals on Wheels program. Over the past year VPAS has seen a significant (30%) increase in the need for meals. Additional funds will allow us to continue to meet the needs of our older neighbors. Thanks to all that participated in the Great Community Give!" Beth Bland, Director of Senior Services Harrisonburg, Rockingham County & Development, Marketing, and Communications Director

Harmonia Sacra Society

"The Harmonia Sacra Society experienced a 50% increase in support and will be using these funds to preserve the legacy of congregational singing and the Joseph Funk family's contribution to church music in the Shenandoah Valley. We host 12 hymn sings in the Valley and provide ongoing maintenance support for the Joseph Funk home in Singers Glen. Ultimately, we hope to purchase this home and use it as a museum for educational purposes. Thanks for coordinating the Great Community Give." Les Helmuth, Treasurer "Eastern Mennonite School was blessed to participate in the Great Community Give again this year. It's amazing what we can do when we come together! Funds will: provide need-based financial aid to more students build restorative justice practices integrate art, music, and time outdoors across the curriculum support academic excellence and success for all students through 1:1 mentoring" Trisha Blosser, Development Officer

"The Scholarship Program allows individuals on a limited income to obtain counseling services that would not otherwise be affordable. The agency gives away $17,000 $19,000 a year in counseling services to individuals that struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, sexual abuse, trauma and relational issues. We may not be able to continue the service without the donation from the Great Community Give as the scholarship fund need continues to rise. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has been stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about this disease and what could happen has been overwhelming and causing strong emotions in adults and children. The agency has experienced an influx in all areas (children, seniors, men, women and marital) as there are significant and sustained increases in depression and anxiety being reported above historical norms. This donation was greatly needed as more community members are without insurance and jobs adding to the stress of their situations. The Great Community Give fundraising could mean the difference of someone desperately receiving the counseling they need and could not otherwise afford." Marie Bradley, Administrative Director "On behalf of the tens of thousands neighbors the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank serves each month in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area, THANK YOU! The generosity shown during the Great Community Give will help provide 105,844 meals to community members locally." Sarah Mallan, Development Coordinator "HDR is excited to have raised funds to put towards our small business assistance program so we can help businesses move beyond surviving the pandemic into thriving mode as well as planning our first Best.Weekend.Ever. community event over Labor Day Weekend. We hope the vaccination rates will be high and COVID rates will be low so we can come together as a community again and celebrate (and support our small businesses)!" Andrea Dono, Executive Director

"Gifts raised during the Great Community Give to support Way to Go will do so much more than get a low-income worker from Point A to Point B - it will enable them and their families to better connect and engage with the community in which they live. You made it possible for these households to move forward in many aspects of their lives, and to keep their dreams alive." Ben Craig, Executive Director "Mercy House is very grateful to our community who supported us by donating during the Great Community Give. These donations will directly support our family shelter and continue to further our mission of impacting the world, one family at a time. Our shelter services provide access to housing, employment, food, and budgeting for the families in our community that need it the most. With the generosity of our donors, we're able to offer a hand-up out of a homeless situation; into a self-sustaining home." Noah Yoder, Landlord Outreach Specialist "Thanks for Supporting Young Entrepreneurs! Contributions to Your Economic Success (YES) will enable elementary students to have the opportunity to be an entrepreneur in a Mini Economy Club. Through this experience, they will learn fundamental economic concepts such as working to earn money, investing, opportunity cost, allocation of limited resources, specialization, trade, scarcity, capitalism vs. socialism, and saving money. Because of these donations, students will learn to make better financial choices throughout their lives, contribute in more meaningful ways as citizens, and be better positioned to take leadership roles in the companies where they work and for the organizations they serve. Each gift, no matter what size, will help shape the future of this amazing community we call home! Thank you for your generosity and commitment to transform our student’s lives through the Great Community Give!" Abe Shearer, Board Chair

"With the profound generosity of our community, OCP will be greatly impacted by the gifts raised during the Great Community Give. We surpassed the anticipated amount that we had budgeted for the GCG, greatly enhancing our overall operating budget while also funding specific programs. OCP is in a much more comfortable financial position as a result of the GCG. Specifically, these funds will continue to support our community day shelter and the various services we offer, including intensive case management; breakfast and lunch; showers and laundry; free wifi; and facilitating street outreach from our partner organizations. The funds raised during the GCG will help support the staff OCP requires to operate at full capacity in full service to our community as we transition into post-COVID operations. We are also excited that the considerable amount raised during the GCG will allow OCP to direct some of these funds to our housing program. Our housing specialist has been very successful securing housing for our community members and his position can continue to be supported thanks in part to the funds raised during the GCG. We are also in a more secure position to add a case manager position specifically focused on supporting folks recently housed to keep them in permanent housing. The funds raised during the GCG not only allows OCP to continue in our mission, but also fosters our growth and expansion. With support from the community, we can continue to provide a safe, loving space welcome to all; an investment in OCP is most certainly an investment in our community. Thank you to the Community Foundation for all of your hard work and support." Corey Chandler, Director of Administration and Development "As far as impact for the Great Community Give, the money raised that day is incredibly important to the museum. In fact, those dollars account for about 40% of what the museum needs for the year, so GCG was a vital piece of our puzzle, to play off of our “puzzle” theme this year :-) These dollars help sustain the power of play as Explore More serves its mission to engage young minds. From supporting our amazing museum staff, to funding COVID-safe programs, to enhancing exhibit spaces, Great Community Give dollars are going a very long way to make play possible for children in our community. In short - We couldn’t do what we do without the generosity and kindness from all the wonderful Great Community Give donors - it was such a humbling and inspiring day!"
