Rushed to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation
Miracle escape for man as fire guts house A MAN had a lucky escape this morning when fire engulfed the house he was in, completely destroying it.

The man in his 20s was being treated in Cork University Hospital after the fire at the bungalow in Ballinabearna, Ballinhassig. The blaze broke out at around 6am and the man was on his own in the house at the time. He managed to escape without injury and it is understood he raised the alarm himself. He was taken to hospital for treatment

for smoke inhalation as a precaution. Inspector Gerry Lacey said: “The occupant had a lucky escape. This is another one of these horrible fire incidents but luckily there was no fatality on this occasion.” Three units of the fire service responded and they managed to bring the fire under control. Gardaí believe the fire was accidental and forensics experts were working at the scene to establish the cause of the fire. ● See page four.
