Up to 50 entrepreneurs and high potential start-up companies are meeting with investors at the Cork Institute of Technology in Dragons’ Den-style sessions. From them, 20 companies will be selected and brought to Silicon
Valley to explore further opportunities to develop their business while some may be able to secure funding immediately. It is hoped that many of the successful companies will be able to rapidly expand in the coming years leading to the creation of hundreds of new jobs. The conference is being organised by the Irish Technology Leadership Group (ITLG) and is the
first major event taking place in Ireland as part of The Gathering 2013. The companies work in a range of backgrounds including mobile, cloud computing, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology and renewable energies. Many of the executives will also visit top companies based here, including EMC, McAfee and Dell. ● See page 14 for more.
