James’s parents Edel Casey and Paul Butler were surrounded by family members as they made their way to the graveyard next door for their only child’s final journey who died 24 hours after he fell into the Owenacurra River on Saturday night, Edel, supported by Paul, rubbed the name plate on the coffin as James was brought to the altar of the church, which was then adorned with photos of a laughing
James in the prime of his life. Monsignor Eamon Goold said that James was a fun-loving seven-year-old with a love of video games and science fiction whose spirit and love of life would be even more enhanced as he went straight to Heaven. “We wanted to see a child grow into a man. Instead we have an angel of God. James’s life will never end. It might have been a short life, but that doesn’t mean it was any less beautiful.” ● See pages two and three.
Terrorised woman tied up in her own home as three armed raiders burst in

A WOMAN was tied up in her home in Carrig na bhFear during a raid at her home. The woman was alone in her home at Dromboy South when three men burst their way in at around 9.30pm last night.
By ANN MURPHY All three men were wearing balaclavas and gloves. One was armed with a rifle. A sum of cash was taken and the occupant of the house was uninjured but shaken.
