Cork father drowns in Thailand diving tragedy A 29-YEAR-old Cork father-of-one tragically drowned while diving in Thailand. Colin Callanan, from Innishannon, had been based in Perth, Australia for the past six years where he worked as a project manager with AMS services and maintenance. He had been in Thailand on a business trip researching a new product before the tragedy occurred on the island of Koh Tao on Friday. The youngest of five, he was father to six-year-old Lee and was last home in Innishannon for Christmas, returning to Australia in January. A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said they were providing consular assistance to the family. Funeral arrangements will be announced later this week.

Cork to get post natal depression hospital unit 20% of mums affected after having baby
CORK is on track to have the country’s first hospital unit specifically for women with Post Natal Depression (PND). Minister of State Kathleen Lynch confirmed that as part of the new psychiatric unit at Cork University Hospital, it’s proposed that a two bed unit be set aside for mothers with PND, which importantly, will allow mothers keep their babies with them. “I have been speaking with management in CUH and they have informed me that two beds could be put aside if needed for women with Post Natal Depression.
