THERE has been a huge rise in the number of people having teeth pulled out since the recession began because it’s cheaper than paying for treatment.
The situation has prompted the UCC school of dentistry dean, Professor Finbarr Allen, to call on the Government to appoint a chief dental officer and develop a national oral health policy to improve public oral health. The call was made ahead of a major dental conference taking place in the River Lee Hotel in the city today.
