THE city manager is calling on the Government for emergency funding to allow repairs to be carried out on almost 500 council houses that are lying empty in the city at a time when thousands of people are crying out for a home.

Cork’s McGrath votes no to Bill

THE only Cork TD to vote against the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill was father-of-five Cork South Central Fianna Fáil TD Micheal McGrath The finance spokesman, who was one of 24 TDs to vote against the bill in the Dáil on Monday night, said his main concern was the suicide issue. While he supports the need for legal clarity when it comes to emergency medical treatment for pregnant women, Deputy McGrath said he had serious concerns to allow abortion as a “treatment” for suicide.
