MUNSTER’S second all-time highest try scorer and captain Doug Howlett has played his last game for the province after being forced to retire due to injury, ZULWHV 6(¤1 0F&$57+<. And one of the young players to have learned so much from the All Black great and who looks to be following in his footsteps, Simon Zebo, tweeted: “What an honour and dream come true to have played alongside @DougHowlett # hero # legend.” The former All Black joined Munster in January 2008 and played a key role in their Heineken Cup success that season. Howlett has intimated that he will remain on in Cork, where he lives with his wife and three children, for the immediate future. Other departures from the current squad — besides Peter Stringer who remains with Bath — are Marcus Horan, Sean Scanlon (Rotherham Titans) and Sean Henry (Connacht) Wian du Preez (South Africa), Scott Deasy and Christy Condon. BJ Botha will continue on with Munster having signed a two-year contract extension.
