PRAYERS FOR BRAVE RYAN A NEWRY teenager whose legs have been amputated in a bid to save his life is astounding doctors with his fighting spirit.
Ryan Cinnamond, a student of St Paul’s High School, underwent the drastic surgery after he was struck down by an aneurysm on Thursday.

said. “But he is fighting and fighting and we’re all feeling hopeful.” Ryan, from Castlekeele Heights, began feeling ill on Wednesday night and deteriorated so fast he had to be taken to Daisy Hill by ambulance. Doctors there diagnosed an aneurysm – a balloon-like swelling in the artery wall - and he was quickly transferred to the City Hospital in Belfast.
But on the way there, the aneurysm burst. Ryan, who at this stage had no steady pulse, was given just a 10 per cent chance of survival. The heartrending decision was later taken to amputate his legs to prevent the release of lethal toxins into his system.

THE mother of a young teen and baby girl who were hijacked by car thieves says her greatest fear was that the children would be killed in a crash, writes Martin Hearty. The woman’s car – with her 14-year-old son and his sevenmonth-old sister in the back – was stolen when she stopped at a filling station shop in Warrenpoint on Thursday night. The thief was more than a mile down the road before he noticed the boy and his baby sister in the back seat and pulled up his hood to avoid being identified. The teenager begged the man to stop and let him and his sister out before the thief eventually pulled over and left them on the side of the dual carriageway at Narrow Water. Speaking to the Democrat yesterday, his mother revealed how her son got out of the car before unhooking his baby sister’s car seat and lifting it out. The teenager then carried his sister - wearing only her pyjamas - back towards the filling station, before a member of the public picked up the children and took them back to their mother. Their mother, who is from Burren, said she feared the worst. “It was such a bad night, and when it’s raining like that the water just lies on the carriageway, “ she said. CONTINUED ON PAGE TWO
