The required size of projects for a more competitive Europe
Large Infrastructure Projects (LIP) is developer of large Pan – European projects in transport infrastructure and water management. The ABC+De is a project for establishment of new, missing until now modern transport links in the Eastern part of the European Union. The abbreviation means the Aegean Sea to Baltic Sea Connection and Danube River. It is a “green-field” project.
The Eastern branch of Via Carpathia road initiative is the road infrastructure of the ABC+De project. Danube-Aegean Sea Motorway (DASM) is the South part of the Eastern branch. It starts at the A0 Bucharest Ring Motorway, passes over the Danube River through a new combined rail and road bridge, through Central Bulgaria and finishes in Northern Greece at Egnatia Odos Motorway near Komotini. The length of DASM is 404,280 km, out of which 56,240 km in Romania, 326,520 km in Bulgaria and 21,540 km in Greece. The Danube-Aegean Sea Motorway is in line with the policies of the European Union: • Connectivity - it is a project of common interest for Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, as well as for the EU. It is a core TEN-T, because it connects the Rhine – Danube and the Orient – East Mediterranean TEN-T Corridors • "Green deal" - the motorway will lead to a reduction by 130 000 tons / year of the greenhouse gases generation • Digitalization - as an integral part of the project is a 5G network of national and trans-European importance and it is an infrastructure for autonomous vehicles • Multimodality - thanks to the motorway, powerful logistics and production centers will be developed in Bucharest, Giurgiu, Ruse, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Komotini • Protection of environment and biodiversity (31 eco-ducts) • Alternative sources of energy and fuels - along with the traditional fuels on the route are provided stations for charging with electricity, liquefied natural gas and hydrogen • Road safety.
