INNOVATION I FLEXIBILITY I DESIGN
PESA Bydgoszcz SA
Our mission is to fulfil the current and future expectations of domestic and foreign owners of rolling stock through the construction, modernisation and repair of rolling stock and by ensuring good quality and user satisfaction.
PESA Bydgoszcz - over 165 years of tradition, experience, unflagging need for development and readiness for change - this is our company. In the last twenty years, the company designed, manufactured and delivered rail vehicles to several European countries. It was a time of dynamic development, successes and rewards, but also problems that were quite a challenge to overcome. During this time, our team was learning, gained new competences and experience. We built our own Research and Development department from scratch. Trams, diesel and electric multiple units and locomotives are produced based on proprietary designs and innovative solutions.
Introduced organizational changes, restructuring, emphasis on quality and timely deliveries, new service policy and market strategy, they all have one goal - to meet the expectations of our clients - carriers and rolling stock owners. I assure you that we will do everything to do it even better than before! Lessons from the past, experience gathered, competences built, and a stable investor providing opportunities for further development make PESA look with optimism into the future. We are ready for the next stage of company development and we are convinced that our new vehicles will meet your expectations and gain recognition both of train staff as well as passengers.
Now, with the Polish Development Fund as the new owner, we are entering a new era in the company’s history. We implement the restructuring process, we change, we work on the next generations of our vehicles. Despite a dynamic development and many changes, one thing remains unchanged - our mission which is “to meet the expectations of carriers; production and service of vehicles, while ensuring high quality and user satisfaction”.

The client’s satisfaction is a point of reference for all our activities and the point of conjunction in the development process of trains, trams and locomotives: from getting to know the expectations and reacting to the needs of owners, carriers, service personnel and passengers, through designing and construction of vehicles, to the maintenance service of already used products.
Continuation of the execution of the company’s mission – care for the highest quality of vehicle functioning and the satisfaction of the users in the horizon of many years, as well as a high technological level at this stage; e.g. thanks to the online diagnostics used in the PESA products.
Apart from the consequently executed principle of market variety, PESA also focuses on the diversification of products, thus its offer includes both diesel and electric multiple units, as well as locomotives, trams, repairs, maintenance and modernisation of rolling stock and underground railway vehicles in the future. Remaining faithful to its mission – by fulfilling the expectations of clients – PESA constructs vehicle families with various configurations. The company was awarded multiple times for its products, their innovation and design.
We hire the best, the best want to work with us. PESA attracts the elite of graduates from universities in the entire country, focusing mainly on team work. It is a team – a mix of youth with experience built throughout several generations of products – a team which is united by the responsibility for the satisfaction of current and future users of the PESA brand vehicles.
The response of the PESA constructors to the market requirements. It is characterised, irrespectively of the vehicle type, by such values as innovation and a design standing for new aesthetic quality on the tracks as well as care for safety, ecology and low maintenance costs. It is supported by PESA’s multiple years of cooperation with the Polish universities and the contacts of its engineers with the leading science centres around the world. PESA’s innovation was appreciated by the Polish Academy of Sciences which granted the company the title of the most innovative industrial company in Poland.
PESA’s process is based on modern technologies, fulfilling the most strict national and international standards, audited and confirmed by the certificates of Polish and foreign certification institutions.
One of the company’s competitive advantages, both in terms of marketing and manufacturing. “Custom-made” vehicle designing and construction, and thus the flexibility of deliveries comprises the execution of the first message of PESA’s mission: fulfilment of the expectations of current and future rolling stock owners. The use of modern technologies and modular systems allow manufacturing of short series of vehicles adapted to the individual needs of clients. It is also possible to incorporate modified design in a short period of time.
EMU
Electric multiple units are constructed at PESA Bydgoszcz SA. Elf, is the family of vehicles for regional and agglomeration traffic, fulfilling the requirements of four collision scenarios, used in most provinces of our country. Apart from the highest safety standards, it is characterised by, among others, a modern design, travel comfort and a wide variety of configurations corresponding to the individual needs of clients. In 2017 PESA produced next generation of EMU - Elf 2 that fully complies with TSI standard. They have brand new design of head and interior which has separate doors to drivers cab and is equipped with on-line diagnostic system. Acatus Plus also serves the needs of regional connections and the most modern PesaDART are designed for long-distance intraregional carriage.

DMU
Next generation Link diesel multiple units – the first DMU in the world fulfilling the requirements of four collision scenarios – is manufactured by us for regional traffic in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic, whereas the ATR 220 vehicles are used in Italy and Poland. The most important advantages of these vehicles include: modern, eco-friendly, economic engine, air-conditioning, monitoring and information systems. The vehicles are adapted to servicing disabled persons.
LOCOMOTIVES
PESA constructs locomotives from the Gama platform according to its own design. It consists of multi-voltage electric, diesel and multi-system locomotives. Electric loco 111Ed with an additional diesel system “Marathon”, was the first of the Gama platform. Usability of the system has been already proved in operation both for passenger and cargo operators. Next of the Gama family - a diesel loco – has been delivered to PKP Intercity. Apart from its utility values, PESA locomotives stand out with its unique social facilities, which are very useful for the drivers, and the entire platform is characterised by a recurrent modular structure which substantially facilitates the servicing of vehicles.

]
PESA is the first Polish manufacturer of low-floor trams and it designed and constructed several generations of them. Thanks to this experience – of both our constructors and carriers making higher and often individual requirements – PESA created a wide range of these vehicles. The Swing, Twist, Jazz and Fokstrot tram families are already used or ordered by most big cities in Poland and are also present in Hungary, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria. They have many advantages and their common priorities come down to two words: safety and reliability.
1520 mm
For years, PESA has been a reliable partner of carriers providing services on 1520 mm tracks. The diesel multiple units manufactured by us are used in Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. They allowed to reinstall local connections in places where carriage with locomotives and cars ceased being profitable or improved the economy on the functioning lines. PESA does not limit its offers for these markets to DMU. The company also offers a platform of electric vehicles. All of these – from 2 to 10-unit vehicles – can service agglomeration, regional or intraregional traffic and are compliant with the GOST requirements.
