TCSI promotes Breast Cancer Awareness What did City School International do on Breast Cancer Awareness Day? We spread awareness on breast cancer. On 16th October, students and teachers wore pink and white clothes. The girls had a session about breast cancer awareness. Dr. Zainab from Shaukat Khanum Hospital spoke to our school. She explained to us about breast cancer and how to prevent it. We learned many new things about breast cancer. Then, Years 10 and 11 arranged a bake sale that would raise money for breast cancer research. They sold pink cupcakes, pink lemonade, pizza, and many other delicious delicacies. The primary section made cards for their mothers and we had a lot of fun and learnt many new things.

TCSI celebrates International Day By: Zawaar Khan
On Thursday October 18th, we held our annual International Day. We all wore clothes from our native countries from many different nationalities. It was to reinforce the ideas of togetherness and harmony. We had to perform a dance on togetherness and it went fantastically well, and everyone loved it. The teachers gave us free periods to draw and discuss our cultures and we had an amazing time. It was truly memorable. The whole class was so active that we danced in the class as well. Each period was fun and had activities. In the last period, we all were very sad due to the nine days off of school coming up. We wanted to come to school instead of being bored at home, well most of us did. At home time, I could see everyone hugging their friends as if it were the last day of school.

7B’s Assembly: A Success By: Zainab Maqsood Our class’ first assembly topic was “The success in failure”. It was on the 28th of October. Our assembly teaches us about what to do when you fail in something. It was an amazing assembly explaining about all the successful people who failed at an early age but never gave up and kept trying and eventually ended up being successful. It teaches us not to be afraid of what to do and never give up on our passion or dreams- just keep trying. It also teaches us that only the hardworking people are the ones who will succeed in the end. Many people who were successful were: J.K Rowling, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln and Walt Disney.
We practised every day at school to make our assembly smooth and we practiced our roles and lines. We organised and gave roles to the people participating in our assembly. It started out with hosts greeting students and teachers, and then people who were given the role of the successful personalities played their part and said a quote. The assembly ended with a message explaining what to do next and how you can try to be successful by not giving up and trying your best. Our assembly was very successful and was applauded by many students and teachers. We were praised for our efforts. We tried our best and we were successful.

A MARTIAN ON EARTH By: Salika Arif Mars is the third planet in our solar system which is inhabited by the Martians. These Martians have adapted to the extreme hot weather of their planet. Their thick skin helps them to survive there. The kingdom of Mars is divided in two parts. One part is ruled by Emperor Graffiender and the other by Emperor Kekobie. They are rivals. One day the men of Graffiender attacked the Kekobies. It was because Graffiender wanted to be the ruler of entire planet Mars. He has trained his men very well. The war started between the two groups and continued for several days. The men of Kekobie were not well trained and brave. They were defeated badly. Many were killed, some were injured badly and others were captives. Graffiender was very glad as he was now the ruler of whole Mars. Only one Kekobie named John Henshal managed to escape. He hid himself in a cave and remained there till the fight was over. Once everything settled down, one night he managed to leave Mars on his space ship. As he was leaving, he was not at all happy. He was already missing his family, friends and his land Mars, where he has spent twenty years of his life. When John has travelled for almost one and a half day, his space ship got some problem. He started thinking what he should do now. But the next moment it fell and John found himself in water. Cool and fresh and he has never seen such a large amount of water in his life. Soon he got hold of a plank of wood and reached shore. Soon he realized that he was on Earth. John was confused, he didn’t know what to do. He looked at himself and at once he knew that humans will get scared by his appearance as he had green skin and spiky hair. He knew very well that he have the ability to shape shift, so he shape shifted into a human. He gave himself a new name Hank Allen. Hank Allen didn’t like Earth for a couple of months. How badly he wanted to get back to his home-land but he knew this was extremely difficult. He had no other option but to stay. So he started thinking to make himself busy. During his childhood he was always inspired by brave police officers and had a dream to be one. In his opinion this was the right time to make that dream come true. After hard work and facing many challenges, he got appointed in police. He was very hard working and sharp, therefore, he helped police to solve many important cases. Seeing his devotion, he was transferred to a special Fort named Slytherin-a place where treacherous and highly risky criminals were kept. Hank Allen was astonished to see that among other criminals and robbers, there were some Aliens as well. One day Hank Allen was in a round. He came across a cell where an Alien was weeping. He stopped there to have a word with him. As they were talking in an Alien language, another officer named Bobby happen to pass by them. He was surprised to see this and went to his officer in charge of the Slytherin Fort. Bobby told him about Hank Allen. Then he was called to the office and questioned. After a long discussion Hank Allen’s true identity was disclosed. But he made it clear that he had no plans to harm the humans and then told them how he reached from Mars to Earth. He shape shifted also in front of them. Both were surprised to see this. Next day, Hank Allen was discussed in the grand meeting of high officials of the country and it was decided that he will remain on this Earth and work for the betterment of humans. Hank Allen was extremely happy and grateful of this decision.

THE HAUNTED HOTEL By: Hadi There was a family of six, a mother, a father, two sons, and two daughters. One of the sons’ names was Jake and the other’s name was Jay, the daughters’ names were Jasmine and Jane. The family was about to go to a hotel for a vacation for 1 night, everyone was excited except Jake. Jake had heard that the hotel had a story where a woman went missing with no trace found and, even her room was empty. People say the hotel was haunted because they kept seeing a woman in the halls and even in their rooms. Jake told his brother Jay, about this but he didn’t believe him. The family packed their luggage and then went on their way. Jake was still frightened about the story and kept telling his parents to turn back, but they said “No”.
Finally, after an hour of traveling through the road, they had made it to their destination. Jake was the last one out but when he was about the leave the car, he saw a woman on the driver seat which was not any of his family members, so he quickly got out of the car and told his parents. His parents didn’t believe him and then they went to get a room. Jake and his siblings waited in the lobby. Afterward, they went to their room and quickly changed to their swimming outfits to go swimming. Jake thought swimming would be good to clear his mind about the woman, but he was wrong. When he stepped in the swimming pool, he saw visions of the swimming pool being filled with blood and corpses. He quickly stepped out and then his father asked him, “What’s wrong?” He told him that the pool was filled with blood but his father thought he was crazy. After being done with the pool, they went to dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Jake was hungry so this was pretty good for him. When he went inside, he saw some delicious food. His dad ordered everything but when he got the food, he saw the woman standing in the corner of the restaurant. Jake immediately stood up and screamed, his parents asked him, what’s wrong? Then he said, “There is a bloody woman over there!”. His parents were confused about where the bloody woman was and told him, “There is nothing there.” Jake looked again but the woman had disappeared.
At night time, the family had to go to sleep so they all lied down and slept. At the middle of the night, Jake was awaked by a sound knocking his door. He opened the door and saw nothing, but when he looked to his right, he saw the woman in the halls of the hotel, with a white bloody robe and a knife in her hand. Frightened, Jake instantly went inside of his room and woke up his siblings, they were confused as to why they were awakened by Jake. Jake said, “Guys! There is a bloody woman in the right of the halls!” His siblings got out of bed and opened the door and to their surprise, there was indeed a bloody woman in the right of the halls with a knife. They all screamed and tried to back in their room but couldn’t because they had forgotten the keys inside. So then they kept running to the left of the halls while the woman was chasing them fast but when they were running fast, Jane had tripped over something and fell. The woman then took Jane with her, “JANE NOOO!!!” said the children. Jane tried to get off her but the woman didn’t let that happen, she shouted, “IF YOU DON’T SHUT UP, I WILL CHOP YOU INTO PIECES!!!” Jane kept screaming and then the children went to the woman and took her knife and stabbed her in the heart. They eventually died. After the night was over, they all went home and were happy that they weren’t dead.

The Mystic Isles By: Amna Zeeshan One day, as Jane was walking home from school, her enchanted bracelet started glowing, that meant that the secret library was calling her. She rushed to the secret library, the shelves clothes like the brightest star and a book came gliding down into Janes hands “The Tale of The Crystal Masters” she read. She read the whole summary, the mystic isles or amazing places above the highest cloud it’s the happiest most magical place ever known but one crystal master wants to grow crystals on all the isles but that will cause the creatures living in the mystic isles to lose their powers someone has to stop her. Suddenly Jenny came to Jane, ”what are you doing here” she asked as she was catching her breathe “how did you find this place” says Jane.” It’s a long story” Jenny replied, “but what are you doing here?” “I’ll tell you but this cannot be told to anyone else, I have been chosen to be the next story keeper. That means that I have to give an incomplete story a happy ending so I’m going to save the mystic isles but I have to find out where that evil crystal master is”. Suddenly the enchanted elevators spell started. Voices echoed through the whole secret library” looks like the library is going to take us there” said Jane with a puzzled face climbing. As soon as they start in the elevator went to the top of the library and started flying away. Jenny, where is this team taking us, Jane. Jane looks like we are landing. After landing suddenly out of nowhere a young girl appears . “Who are you?” asked Jenny “I’m Prisma I’m from the island crystals and my sister took my powers and sent me down here to the ever realm." “We are going to find an evil crystal master too!” said Jane excitedly, “but we do not know how to get to the mystic isles?” Prisma glanced at Jane’s enchanted bracelet “what are your names?”, “I am Jenny and she is Jane my sister” “Jane call some unicorns then they will come from the mystic isles, thanks to your amazing magical bracelet, I’m the one who made it after all,” said Prisma they will take us there. Jane called out for the unicorns, and three unicorns came flying down from the sky “wow!” exclaimed Jenny, “flying unicorns!” “We will take you to the mystic isles,” said one of the unicorns. They climbed on to the unicorns and the unicorns flew higher and faster and faster. “Wow, that was fun!” said Jane. “Jane, Jenny, welcome to the Isle of unicorns”. It was filled with unicorns. All of a sudden, a young unicorn went dashing by and his horn got jammed into a tree “I require some assistance,” said the young unicorns. “We can help you,” said Jenny, “come on guys help me, pull him out of the tree.” They gradually got him unstuck “thank you for your assistance,” said the unicorn “and sorry for the trouble, I’m Dash and since you helped me I will be your trusty steed for now.” “Thanks, Dash,” said Jane “the more the merrier” so they walked on and dash showed them around. Then’ they reached the Dancing Desert. “This is the dancing desert,” said dash pointing at the purple sand. “It will show you anything you want to see.” “Can you please show us the quickest way to the Isle of crystals?” Jane asked politely. Suddenly, the sand rose into dunes and they stepped onto it and it started carrying them to a bridge. When they got there, they got down the bridge and soon reached the Isle of crystals they saw Azarine growing crystals outside a tall tower. ”That’s Azarine! she is my mean sister” said Prisma “and that is the tower where she hid my terra crystal, that is what we crystal Masters use to grow,” “how do we get past her,” asked Jenny “I don’t know,” replies Prisma “I have an idea” says Jane “I can use my bracelet to turn myself into a crystal bird and then I will fly past her and get your terra crystal” “good idea Jane!” said Jenny as Jane transformed into a bird. She flew past Azarine and she took the terra crystal but while she was flying back to them she dropped the terra crystal and got tangled into some vines. Azarine started walking towards Jane and untangled her. Jane was confused “how can someone so mean be so nice”, she thought to herself and she thought something was wrong as she was flying back. Jenny quickly gave the terra Crystal to Prisma, Jane tried to tell her to stop but Jenny did not hear her and when Prisma got the terra crystal she laughed and said “finally my terra crystal my powers have returned now let me upgrade my look” she said as her plain clothes transformed into an amazing dress and her plain brown hair transformed into long, red hair. Then, she trapped Jenny and Jane and told them why she was doing this, she was jealous of her sister because everyone admired her and said she wasn’t a good sister, so I am going to grow crystals on every aisle and then she would be the most powerful person in the world. All of a sudden, Jenny saw a shattered stone and she had learnt about them at school. She learnt that if you bang the stone on something three times it will break. So she picked it up and she hit it on the crystal wall. Then they chased Prisma into the tower and tried to hit her terra crystal with the shattered stone. Prisma tried to freeze jenny inside a crystal but Jenny put a mirror in front of her and Prisma trapped herself in the crystal and so it was easy to break her terra crystal. After her terra Crystal was destroyed she ran as fast as she could, and Jane chased her while riding Dash and then they reached a cliff. The protectors of the mystic isles appeared, and they took Prisma with them and they offered Jane to become the protector of the Ever9 realm. Then Jane and Jenny came out of the book and found themselves in the library.

ANIMAL KINGDOM By: Fatima Faizan In the city of London, there lived a girl named Emily. She was the daughter of a famous zoologist John. One day, she was going to school with her friends Emma and Crystal, suddenly they remembered that they had to submit their Science project by tomorrow. So they decided that they would go to John’s Science lab after school and complete the project. Their Science project was about mountains. Their project took two days to complete. Next, the day they took their project to school and their teacher noticed pink smoke coming out of it. The teacher asked them what it was but they had no clue. After the class, they went to the lab to ask John about the weird smoke. He remembered that one of the chemicals under research which changes animals to behave like humans mistakenly fell on the project. He told them that the project needs to be destroyed; otherwise, it might create some problem. They took the project from school and threw it away in a deep forest and they decided not to talk about it to anyone. 10 years passed, the three friends met again at the reunion. Emily asked her friends, should we go to the forest and look for our project? They decided and went to the forest. After walking for a long time, they got tired and rested under a tree. After some time, they woke-up by a loud noise. They saw dogs dressed as soldiers, standing on two legs and talking like humans. The three friends could not believe their eyes. They thought they were in a dream but soon realized that it is a reality. The dog soldiers took them to an enormous mountain and entered inside through a huge stone gate. As soon as they entered, the girls could not believe their eyes. They saw a whole new world where there were only animals, big and small, short and large and herbivores and carnivores, dressed in all sorts of clothes, walking on two legs and speaking like humans. They were even more surprised to see huge buildings, roads, cars and all sorts of other developments. All the animals were giving them a puzzled look. They were taken to a huge palace covered with crystals and pearls. As they were looking at the dazzling beauty of the palace, they saw a big throne in the middle. There were a lot of other animals as well waiting for the throne to be filled. These girls were told to stay in a line with other animals, as everyone waited for the king. Suddenly, trumpets blew with shouts “ THE KING IS ARRIVING”, they all looked in one direction towards the big golden gate. From the gate there came a big white bear, wearing a big robe and crown. He sat on the throne and then immediately gazed at the three girls and asked the dog soldiers about them. The soldiers informed him that they were trespassing in the Animal Kingdom. But then Emily told the king about the whole story that this all happened 10 years before. After hearing this, everybody in the palace laughed and the king told them that this kingdom is 10,000 years old. The girls were shocked to hear this and told them that it is true. Seeing that nobody believes them, they asked the king to come with them to their world. The king called his advisor fox to take its suggestion. The fox thought for a long time and then replied that one of them should stay here and rest can go with the king. They agreed and decided that Emma would stay behind. Emily and Crystal accompanied the king to their world and they met with John, who was very surprised to see them and heard the whole story. He explained everything to the king and even showed him the chemical. The king agreed but asked them not to disclose about their kingdom to anyone, otherwise, they will never see Emma again. They agreed and Emma returned safely back. John destroyed the chemical completely and closed the lab permanently. The three girls decided not to talk about this in future but this unique ANIMAL KINGDOM will always be a part of their memory.

Once upon a time, there lived a boy in a faraway village. His name was Martin. In his village, people had magical powers. Martin’s village would always get attacked by the other village. One day, Martin’s mother told him that he had to live with his uncle in the other village.
The next day, Martin left his village and went to his uncle's village. When he got to his uncle’s house. His uncle told him to be careful with using his magic because everybody here hates magic and will kill you. After being sent, he was extra careful with his powers. When suddenly he had an emergency, where he had to use magic. When he used his magic, the king of the village caught him. The next day the king pretended that he was Martin’s friend. Suddenly the king tried to push Martin into a fire, but Martin got away and pushed the king instead into the fire. Nobody in the village knew how to react to this. An army of guards ran after Martin and tried to kill him but they failed because a bunch of dragons came and protected Martin. Out of nowhere, Martin turned into sand and disappeared. Martin woke up and said, “what a weird dream”. He got out of bed and went to the bathroom.

THE DEATH WALK BY: LAIBA NADEEM ONCE THERE LIVED A POOR GIRL WHO LIVED IN A POOR OLD VILLAGE. SHE LIVED WITH HER MOM AND DAD. AND THAT GIRL’S NAME WAS ALANA. SHE AND HER FAMILY WERE VERY POOR. EVERY DAY HER FATHER WOULD GO TO CROP SOME CORN EVERY DAY FOR FOOD AND HER MOTHER WOULD CLEAN THE HOUSE FOR BREAKFAST, DINNER, AND SUPPER. EVERY MONDAY AND FRIDAY THE SHOPS GAVE PEOPLE NEW FOOD TO EAT EVERY DAY AND THE WHOLE DAY FOR FREE WITH NO MONEY TO PAY FOR IT. IT WAS NIGHT TIME AND HER MOTHER TUCKED ALANA IN BED WITH A SWEET LULLABY AND THEN HER MOTHER WENT TO SLEEP AT 4:00 AM. THE CREEPY HALLOW VOICE SAID “ALANA COME HERE I AM WAITING FOR YOU” THE GHOST SAID IN A CREEPY HALLOW AND STUTTERING VOICE. ALANA WAS VERY BRAVE SO SHE FOLLOWED THE GHOSTS VOICE AND IT LEAD HER TO A DOOR SO SHE OPENED IT AND SAW AN ILLUSION THAT SHE WAS STEPPING ON A PATH OF BONES AND EATING FINGERS OF A HUMAN AND EVERY STEP SHE TOOK SHE BECAME MORE EVIL AND SCARY HER EYES WERE FULLY BLACK AND HER FACE WAS COVERED WITH STITCHES, HER HANDS AND FEET WERE TEARED AND BONES WERE SHOWN AND SKIN WAS CRACKED. AFTER THAT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AND THEN WHEN SHE SAW THIS VISION SHE BECAME VERY TERRIFIED AND RAN BACK HOME INTO THE VILLAGE AND SAW A BOX IN IT WAS A KNIFE AND A NOTE AND ON THE NOTE WAS WRITTEN: “YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF OR YOUR LOVED ONES THE CHOICE IS YOURS”. WHEN ALENA READ THIS NOTE SHE WAS SCARED TO DEATH SO THEN SHE RAN TO HER MOM AND DAD AND TOLD THEM ALL THAT SHE SAW AND READ. THEN SHE TOLD HER MOM AND DAD TO KILL HER BY THIS KNIFE HER MOM AND DAD (LOOKED AT EACH OTHER) AND THEN KILLED HER WITH A WIDE SMILE ON THEIR BIG FACES AND THEN THEY KILLED HER AND ATE HER WITH A SMILE AND SAID “WE WERE NEVER YOUR PARENTS, WE WERE ONLY DEVILS AND YOU WERE NEVER A DAUGHTER, YOU WERE ONLY A SILLY LITTLE ORPHAN GIRL!”

My Fantasy World Written By: Ahmed Paracha Once upon a time, on a beautiful morning, there was a factory, known as the wonder factory. Because that was a chocolate factory and if you would go to that factory you would see chocolate all around you. The owner of that factory was too rich. People used to get jealous of him because of that. In the city, there were five superheroes with superpowers. And they used to help the people who are in need. Their names were Man of steel, iron man, Hulk, Thanos, and Spiderman. They were paid by the government every month, which was a million euros. They do their job wisely, and they are never late for their work. Everyone in the city is safe because of the five superheroes. Every day fresh chocolates are made in the chocolate factory, many people buy chocolates every day, and the factory gets a million dollars every day. The chocolate over there is special. The good thing about that chocolate is that it has a voucher in every chocolate wrapper. The voucher of clothes or food. There is one more factory known as the food factory, it has every kind of cuisine like Italian, Spanish, French etc. That factory is also famous like the chocolate factory. The owner of the food factory is a millionaire. The president of that country’s name is Tom Clark. He has extra ten heroes with him for his safety. Once the president goes out in his Lamborghini and suddenly what happens is that he gets attacked by a huge army from behind. They try to fight the huge army but they were unsuccessful and they got defeated. The five superheroes who were assigned to the city they come and try to save the president but they also got defeated. The army kidnapped the president, and they put him in the prison. That army was unstoppable no one could stop them. After six years he came out of the prison and escaped somehow. After a few days when the army searched for but they could not find him .. When they found him he was with a group of five people who had superpowers. Then the army and the group of five people fought and the five people won. The president was in joy and finally, everything was like before and it was a long happy life and Tom Clark ruled the country for a long time and then after 8eightyears new twenty superheroes were made for Tom Clark and everything became like before.

Just Breathe By: Ayesha Durrani Alyssa’s oxygen ran low when she reached level 4 on the Northeast Ridge. She’d been told this might happen. Her breath was labored and she was far behind the group. Maybe it was three kilometers. She sat down on a rock and unzipped her bag, rifling through it, she was losing consciousness quickly. She slapped her cheeks. Slapping her own face wasn’t part of the training she’d had for the past three months. It was hard enough just getting to the training. She had taken four flights over two days and had missed the first two days. The layover in China took eighteen hours because of a snowstorm and she’d had to sleep in the bathroom on a mat overnight. Tom Houston, the manager, had kept the other climbers from going up because he wanted to make sure Alyssa got the chance of a lifetime. Several of the climbers had gotten restless and one of the climbers decided they’d skip going up because they had heard there was a snowstorm coming. During her training, she made friends with Zack who liked to tease her about her panda backpack. The backpack had furry ears and it made everyone think Alyssa was not climbing on a professional level. She’d only been climbing for two years and had already surpassed the endurance and strength of someone three times her age. She was a tough bull who didn’t take no for an answer. Not ever. Even her friends had tried to discourage her from going, but at least her parents were supportive. Back on the Northeast Ridge, Alyssa’s cheeks stung with cold and desperation. Where was that other oxygen tank? She had packed and unpacked her bag seven different times to make sure that nothing was missing. Finally, on the very bottom, her frigid finger made contact with the metal tank. At the top, Tom yelled, “Alyssa put out your arms, you know, something. We need the youngest female climber to ever reach the top of Mount Everest to look excited.“ She threw out her twelve-year-old arms and said, “Yeah!” Alyssa felt like crying tears of happiness but she was pretty sure that at this altitude the tears wouldn’t even roll down her cheeks. Besides, what was the use? No one would see them through her swaddled and wrapped head. The youngest person in the world had reached the summit of Mount Everest and she couldn’t even express how happy she was. Or was it even happiness? More like satisfaction. And a tiny bit of smugness mixed into all the people who didn’t think she could pull this off. Alyssa looked out onto the valley into Nepal. It was all white with peaks of snow. Gorgeous and yet monotonously blinding at the same time, named after Sir George Everest, the Welsh surveyor. “Okay kiddo, let’s get out of here before the snowstorm starts,” Tom yelled through the whipping wind. He motioned with his arm to follow him.

Inspirational Stories This young girl’s name is Iqra. She is our Head Girl. Iqra was born on the 5th of April, 2001. Her motto in life is “ignore the wrong, focus on the good”. Iqra is our Head Girl for the year 2018-2019. 7b students asked her a few questions about her life for the class magazine. Iraq’s fear is not being suitable for something; she is passionate. If she overcame this fear, she would accept it that she cannot be better in it. Her most significant achievement is being the head girl and getting highest marks in grade 8. Her most significant support and inspiration is her mother. Moreover, she plans to get AS level in Year 11 and pursue a law degree.

Aaiz is our yellow house captain. He was born on the 5th of March 2003. Aaiz’s motto in life is “Push yourself because no one is going to do it for you�. He is in Year 11. His greatest fear is failing at something, and he cannot overcome this fear. His most significant achievement is getting good grades in school. Moreover, his most significant support is his family. He has not yet decided his plans for future.

Laiba Khan is our greenhouse captain. She was born on the 21st of November 2003. Labia’s motto in life is “Success is all about being persistent and working hard�. Laiba was our deputy head girl last year. Her greatest fear is to hurt someone from her family, and her cant comes over this fear.
