COLEGIO LA CHUCUA IED LINGUAVENTURAS IMMERSION PROGRAM FEEDBACK FORM FOR TRAINEE Trainee’s Name: ANOUCK SCHIPPERS Supporting Teacher: CONSUELO LEMOS
Strengths 1 .Commitment during your sickness. Thanks again!!!! 2. Open-minded attitude towards difficult groups and my crazy proposals. 3. Awareness of the disconnection that sometimes appears between the syllabus and the level of students, and the fact you propose alternatives to adapt the syllabus. 4. Visual aids (using technology – groups cycle 1) 5. Creative activities (songs, menu…)
Date: April 25th to 29th .
To Improve 1. Again, you seem you forgot some sts just because they are not highly participants (Check group 6). 2. Visual aids with older groups. Again, they need to keep at hand their own material (clippings, charts, etc.) You just proposed for group 6. 3. Despite the song activity worked well, the activity was quite disorganized and some necessary steps were skipped. 4. Interaction among students again (this is not really an immersion space if they don’t interact in English)
Requests - Suggestions 1. Again, and sorry, you are not testing the recommendation I have suggested. Let students to brainstorm their ideas before participating (even those “advanced” ones), let people in each table to intervene and participate. 2.Include some visual aids for older cycles (not only projector and computers; include clippings, charts, etc.) 3. a. Pre-teach some key vocabulary that students need to understand better the song (Maybe the title of the song, and some verbs, nouns) b. Encourage students to listen to the song and try to sing aloud (maybe the chorus) c.Ask some questions (let them write them in a way they can organize ideas. d.Prepare a follow up activity (fill in the blanks, word search, matching words and definitions, etc.) 4. Let´s think about some expressions that we guarantee students are going to use in the class (borrow, thank you, do you have… please, How do you say…?, How do you spell..? etc.) At this point students have to interact in ENGLISH.
a. Choose one group to focus interaction among students. b. Choose expressions that students can use during the sessions. (Maximum 4) c. Include this aspect in assessment. With group 6: Follow up activity with all expressions they ask “teacher how do you say….?” When they are speaking.
