LOUIS VUITTON
Opulent Blues
In a season that is dominated by blacks and greys. Louis Vuitton came up trumps with luscious blues and exquisite shades to put the splendour back in our autumn winter wardrobes.
Rose Drapes
Romantic and feminine with soft muted tones; Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga uses slippery silks with beautifully cut drapes. Extenuating the sensual lines of the female silhouette.

Chanel revealed Parisian chic with super feminine white frilled necklines and frothy collars. Mixing separates around a monochrome palette was indeed the signature look for Karl Lagerfeld. Cleverly achieved, is a rare balance between being grown-up and youthful.
Power Dressing
The words we are looking for is edgy sophistication. It’s the way Ghesquière has worked the use of streaked prints and eighties statement shoulders into an immaculate collection.
Mettalica
Warm copper, bronzes and gold metallics remain at the forefront of this seasons trends. For a smart and relaxed ensemble Etro reasserts this masculine look, yet it is still oozing a silky soft appeal.

Influences from the Past. Billie Holiday by Rachel Gibbons On the approach to Black History Month in October, no time seems more appropriate to celebrate Billie Holiday’s achievements within musical history. As one of the original divas of all time, this immortal jazz singer and song writer’s influence can be heard reverberating through the styles of today’s artists; Katie Melua, Amy Winehouse and Duffy to mention a few. Her velvety dulcet tones were filled with emotion that set her apart from other artists of her era. Winning acclaim, she was most admired for her deeply personal and intimate approach to singing. Quite often, reducing her audience to tears. Billie had a turbulent start in life, suffering abuse at a young age, she escaped what looked certain to be a life walking the moonlighting district and singing at bars in Harlem for tips. In 1933 her luck changed when legendary producer John Hammond heard her perform. From that point her life changed radically, her first steps of what was to become a glittering yet bitter sweet show biz career. Still climbing towards the height of her success, in early 1935, she made her debut at the Apollo Theatre and appeared in a one-reeler film. There she learned the song that would catapult her career to a new level, ‘Strange Fruit’ a collaboration with jazz king Duke Ellington. A song about a chilling account of a growing civil rights movement in America. While her short and powerful life was tinged with a heart wrenching tale of heroin addiction, Billie Holiday is still remembered for unequivocally transforming the face of American pop vocals. Over half a decade after her death she still remains an important figure on the musical landscape.
