ICT PLUS It currently provides insight into “managed” device data for Google, Microsoft and Apple devices
ICT PLUS (Planning, Leading, Utilisation, Strategy) assists principals and school leaders in making data-informed decisions. A dashboard to provide insight into “managed” device data for Google, Microsoft and limited Apple devices with more Apple insights being added throughout 2021. FYI | “Managed” means devices that are connected to the network and run the Department’s Standard Operating Environment (SOE) image. Access to ICT PLUS is currently open to all school principals and field operations teams. School principals can in turn delegate access to other staff members via the ‘Manage Staff Access’ app within the portal.
The Planning Dashboard in ICT PLUS can answer the following questions for your school’s managed devices: ▶ How many managed devices in your school are out of warranty? Check the Warranty chart. ▶ How many managed devices have 1 year or less warranty remaining? Download the Devices List and filter by warranty date. ▶ Are they desktops or laptops? Click on the “Expired Warranty” segment of the Warranty chart, then take a look at the Form Factor chart.
Watch this 1-minute video to learn about the tool and what it can do for you. Hot tip: ICT PLUS is best used in the Chrome browser.
If you’re unfamiliar with the terminology used in the tool or would like to know more information about ICT PLUS, select the Help and Support page in the left-hand side menu of ICT PLUS. This page contains User Guides, Frequently Asked Questions and a Data Glossary, along with information about where the data comes from and how often it is updated in ICT PLUS. ICT PLUS sources data from multiple existing systems, making the various sources accessible in one place. Have you found that the data in ICT PLUS doesn’t line up to what you’ve found in your school? Please lodge a ticket with EDConnect and your concern will be escalated to the ITD teams managing the relevant data systems.

▶ When was the last time someone logged into them? Take a look at the Utilisation chart, determined by last login date per device. For a detailed list of this information (and more) per managed device, go to the Devices List (Managed Only) table at the bottom of the Planning Dashboard and click Download as CSV.

T4L device management in schools
The NSW Department of Education provides schools with solutions to deliver a level of self-management for devices received through the T4L rollout and discretionary purchase through EdBuy.
Windows desktops, notebooks and tablets
Apple iPad and MacBook
Google Chromebooks
Your school’s eT4L Server provides a simple way to prepare a brand new Windows device for first time and ongoing use and management.
Since 2019, schools have had access to Jamf Pro to deliver mobile device management (MDM) for their Apple devices, including iPads and Mac computers. New devices are all pre-enrolled in each school’s Apple School Manager and a four-year Jamf Pro licence is included with each new Apple device. With Jamf Pro, schools can:
To help schools set up their new Chromebooks for first time and ongoing use by students and staff, NSW DoE provides an enrolment process for the department’s Google domain. It’s an easy way of making your school’s Chromebooks work effectively with the department’s Wi-Fi infrastructure and with the DoE Google Workspace service.
y Prepare new devices, deploy apps, configure restrictions and install OS and app updates wirelessly.
It provides a consistent, reliable user experience. DoE Chromebook Enrolment is NOT a local management platform for Chromebooks. However, with the release of Google Delegated Admin for schools in December 2021, access to the Google Admin Console allows schools to locally assign their own settings, apps or extensions.
y Easy build/rebuild with support delivered remotely via your school’s eT4L server y Easy installation of software via the DoE Software Catalogue and UDM y Logon to any eT4L built device using your department user credentials y Automatically mapped shared drives and printers according to user type Find out more about eT4L
IMPORTANT: When placing your order, to ensure your new Apple device(s) are correctly enrolled in your school’s Apple School Manager (ASM) Console, you will be asked to carefully type your ASM OrgID into the order form. This can be found in your ASM Console. If you need assistance with finding this, please contact EDConnect on 1300 32 32 32 (option 5). For schools that are ordering Apple devices for the first time, please contact EDConnect to arrange the provisioning of an ASM console OrgID prior to placing your order.

User Scenario Our school no longer has a dedicated computer lab, but our students still need the capacity to complete some high-end tasks including designing 3D Models, and editing and compiling videos using the Adobe Creative Cloud. Plus we need the flexibility of a convertible device and a larger screen to enable students to complete filming, robotics and creative endeavours.
BACK TO CONTENTS
The Intermediate Notebook meets the portability criteria as we can store them in a charging cart, and their performance means our students’ creativity is not limited by the capacity of the device. The convertibility and touch interface are a huge bonus and mean it is a really flexible device to cater to a wide variety of users!

User scenario Our teachers and students use iPads regularly. Teachers use Apple Classroom to manage digital experiences with students, completing creative tasks such as filmmaking with iMovie and Clips, digital drawing with Tayasui Sketches School, and creating amazing presentations and digital books with Keynote and Pages. But these devices are starting to get old and we need replacements.
BACK TO CONTENTS
We considered other devices, but the portability, durability and suitability for our school’s learning needs, meant the decision to choose iPads again was easy. With Jamf Pro management licenses included, maintaining our fleet is a breeze. Finally, as our students and teachers store most of their work in the cloud, the base iPad’s 64GB of storage is all we need!
