Buzzin Lifestyle gets Pattaya Buzzin! Trevor Knight Welcome to another edition of Buzzin Lifestyle. April is always a mixed emotions month as the Songkran celebrations take place. For some it is the time to hibernate and stay away from all the festivities, especially to water spraying, however, myself included, for many it’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Thailand New Year and enjoy this amazing festival for all its glory. Aside from the Songkran Celebrations the Buzzin gang have been busy, as we prepare for the launch of our Buzzin Privilage Card which offers all the members a discount off standard pricing in many, many locations around Pattaya. The card is FREE and will be distributed starting the 1st May. Yet again it’s another step forward as Buzzin Media Group consolidates its position as the Number 1 Media Company here in Pattaya. So, thank you once again for your support, and have a wonderful April.
Thank you for all your support. Trevor

Get Ready for Songkran The traditional Thai New Years celebration, known as Songkran runs from the 13th - 15th April and is universally celebrated across Thailand. It is marked by the throwing and sprinkling of water and is actually a ritual to ask for rain. However as part of the ritual, people also engage in several things which they believe are a way to receive good luck for the remaining months of the year. These include cleaning their houses, bathing Buddha images, conducting family reunions, giving alms to monks and offering prayer. Using fragrant water, young individuals give respect to elders by pouring it into their hands. The Songkran celebration in Pattaya
extends until the 19th April, with the 19th being the biggest day for celebrations. Unless you avoid Pattaya altogether or stay at home (see our Songkran home delivery guide on page 6) you will get wet, there is absolutely no option with this, there are over half a million people out on the streets armed with water guns of all descriptions to get you wet. So, grab your weapon of choice and join in with what is surely the worlds biggest water fight. Beach road will be closed to traffic for the day and you will see numerous bands and water cannons. We really don’t recommend that you try and drive anywhere, traffic across the whole of town will be completely grid locked for the whole day.

From the 13th April, you need to be prepared that wherever you are in town you run the risk of having water thrown at you, there really is no way of getting away from that. To join in the fun between the 13th-18th one of the best spots is Tipp Plaza on Second Road, which is also family friendly. On the 19th April complete mayhem descends to Pattaya as the whole town becomes one big water fight. Whilst the whole town will be at a complete standstill, traffic does try and follow the route on the map marked in green, and the areas in red are closed to all traffic.
Buzzin Top Tips 1. Don’t be tempted to drink and drive 2. Don’t even venture outside without putting anything you want to keep dry in a bag 3. Buy your water guns in advance 4. Don’t shoot people in the eyes, particularly of those riding motorbikes 5. Do expect to get soaked with icy water at any time 6. Take care when driving on the roads, it is the most dangerous time on the roads.

Food delivery services first started in 1890 in Mumbai when a lunch delivery service was launched with about a hundred men. Today, between 175,000 and 200,000 lunch boxes are moved each day in Mumbai by 4,500 to 5,000 dabbawalas, they use a unique series of markings to indicate the destination of each lunch box and reportedly have an error delivery of only 1 in 16 million deliveries. During World War 2, the British Government started a daily food delivery service to ensure the health and wellness of their citizens, the government organized groups to keep feeding the citizens in spite of all the havoc and danger. Groups were made of chefs, volunteer kitchen staff and people for delivery. During the bombings, the delivery service caught impetus and post war, the service continued for injured veterans and citizens. Home Delivery service was also rendered to war returned veterans and needed time to settle down.

The idea which initiated in the United Kingdom didn’t take long to reach to the United States. In U.S. the very first home delivery was done in Philly in the year 1952 where it strived to feed people who could not go out of their home and had to be met with their dietary requirements. From Philly, the service was spread to Columbus and then to New York.
PattayaMeals.com is a family-run business and brand new home delivery service covering Pattaya and Jomtien. Chef Pang insists on using only high quality ingredients, with no harmful additives or preservatives. Pattaya Meals uses imported butter and olive oil, and only fresh meats and vegetables. On the menu, you’ll find some healthy options, and you’ll find some less healthy items as well, we are using quality ingredients in each dish. There’s a wonderful variety of options, and a meal for every occasion. All meals are under 200 baht. Orders can be made either via private message on their Facebook page or by phone.
In the year 1954, Australia adopted this incredible invention but in their very own fashion. The first service was done by a woman on a tricycle and it was later taken over by the Red Cross.

Italian Dining in Pattaya It will come as no surprise that with so many different nationalities in Pattaya that almost every nations food is represented in town from Lebanese to Russian, from Korean to Greek and everything in between. We are particularly lucky to have a large number of Italian and Mediterranean style restaurants in town. Italians usually care deeply and lovingly about their family’s cooking history:
The history of Italian cuisine, however, is as long and rich as the country’s history itself, its origins laying deep into the ancestral history of Rome, its people and its political, cultural and social power.
grandmas and moms’ recipes are passed on with care and pride, a symbol itself of heritage and roots. Some are more aware than others of regional characteristics typical of each dish, but it is not unusual, when it comes to the kitchen, to look further back than a couple of generations: their knowledge of why we cook in a certain way and why we eat certain things is normally based on oral sources (our elders) and therefore have a limited time span.
Italian cuisine has evolved and changed following the evolution and the changes of Italy itself throughout centuries of wars, cultural mutations and contacts: it’s a history as rich, colourful and fascinating as the most amazing of recipes. The Romans, loved feast-
ing on food: the banquet was not simply a moment of social conviviality, but also the place where new dishes were served and tried. The Empire embraced the flavours and ingredients of many of the lands it had conquered: spices from the Middle East, fish from the shores of the Mediterranean and cereals from the fertile plains of North Africa: Imperial Rome was the ultimate fusion cuisine hot spot and makes Italian food as we know it today.
Volare is a cozy and cost effective italian style restaurant based on soi Bukhao , with its open planned kitchen so you can see your pasta and pizzas being made first hand, you can even try something from their full european and Thai menus along with a wide range of different imported wines this really is a great place to dine with your friends or a loved one. It’s probably not required to explain what an Orphanage or Children’s Home is, and the words are often looked at with a heavy heart. However, the wonderful Khun Pingta, who is the manager and enthusiast behind the Baan Jing Jai Children’s home in Pattaya, Thailand has helped give many children a happy start in life which they would not have got otherwise. There are no hand outs or benefits for such children’s homes here in Thailand, so they are totally dependent on donations and whilst so many good people have helped the home over the years, they still need funds to continue the fantastic work and expand this wonderful project. There are 70 children, from 9 months old to 18 years and all the children of school age attend different schools. Some are

The older children take great pleasure in caring and helping the smaller ones, creating a big happy family under the loving leadership of Khun Pingta. Don’t Use a Machine, Be a Machine.
By Fitness Pro Ror Alexander
There is a major trend today in the fitness industry towards simpler exercises and getting “back to the basics”. In fact, in this years biggest exercise poll of trends in the industry Body Weight Training received the #1 spot on what fitness enthusiasts are looking for. Simple “anywhere” exercises like pushups, pullups, situps, and lunges are taking the place of Olympic Lifting and other advanced skills that take too long to master, and offer little reward in the meantime. While inside the gyms, people want to get back to the foundational movements like back squats, deadlifts, bench & shoulder presses. Also popular is smaller pieces of simple equipment like dumbbells, sandbags, kettlebells, ropes, and bands, while fitness specialists and programs that offer all ranges of simple human movements like crawling, throwing and climbing are growing fast. There are a few reasons for this. Machines offer unnatural movements, placing undue and unnatural stress on joints and muscles. They are not setup for people of all heights, and often, if adjusted, are adjusted incorrectly. They are also expensive, bulky and take up way too much space. Do you really need a $2000.00 machine weighing 150kg and taking up 2sq/m of space to do a bicep curl?! A rubber band does just as much (and more). Toss that with a jump rope in your bag, and you have the perfect “on the go” gym. www.METCONgym.com
