The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is extending full support to Pattaya City and relevant authorities in setting up the Jetski Tourist Assistance Centre in order to resolve jetski issues as well as to ensure the safety and security of tourists. It’s widely known that tourists have experienced problems with some of the jet ski operators which has resulted in bad publicity for what genuinely is a fantastic tourist destination.

Operators need to register their jetski’s and apply for a noncompulsory insurance system issued by the Marine Department, who in turn will issue a sticker to be displayed on the front of each

jet ski. The sticker also indicates in which area the operator can work. This scheme is designed to cover any damage or loss which may occur to tourists or users during their ride.The advisor will attend any situation and advise on resolving the situation and helping the user.

The Jetski Tourist Assistance Centre is located at Pattaya Beach (Pattaya Soi 9), Jomtien Beach (in front of Surf restaurant) and Ko Lan (Coral Island). The centre is open every day from 09.00 – 18.00 hrs.

Buzzin Media Group joins the entire Kingdom in humbly extending our best wishes to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on this most auspicious occasion of his Birthday, December 5th.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej was born on the 5th December 1927. He is also known as Rama IX as he is the 9th monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. He has reigned since 9th June 1946 making him the longest reigning monarch in Thai history and in the world.

His Majesty is a painter, musician, photographer, author and translator. His book Phra Mahachanok is based on a traditional Jataka story of Buddhist scripture.

The Story of Thong Daeng is the story of his dog Thong Daeng King Bhumibol is an accomplished jazz saxophone player and

composer, playing dixieland and New Orleans jazz, and also plays the clarinet, trumpet, guitar, and piano. King Bhumibol has performed with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Benny Goodman, Stan Getz, Lionel Hampton, and Benny Carter. Bhumibol has written 49 compositions, including marches, waltzes, and Thai patriotic songs, but mostly jazz swing. His most popular compositions are Candlelight Blues, Love at Sundown, and Falling Rain, all composed in 1946

was awarded the Sanford Medal for his contribution in music from Yale School of Music. He was the first Asian in both cases to be honoured as such. In 2003, the University of North Texas College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in music.

King Bhumibol is also accomplished sailor and sailboat designer. He won a gold medal for sailing in the Fourth Southeast Asian Peninsular (SEAP) Games in 1967, together with HRH Princess Ubol Ratana whom In 1964, King Bhumibol was he tied for points. King Bhumibol has also sailed inducted to the honorary membership of Vienna’s the Gulf of Thailand from Hua Hin to Toey Harbour University of Music and Performing Arts. In 2000, he in Sattahip, covering 60 7

nautical miles (110 km) in a 14-hour journey on the “Vega 1,” an OK Class dinghy he built.

Like his father, a former military naval engineer, Bhumibol was an avid boat designer and builder. He produced several small sailboat designs in the International Enterprise, OK, and Moth classes. His designs in the Moth class include the “Mod,” “Super Mod,” and “Micro Mod.” King Bhumibol holds several patents, in 1993 for a waste water aerator named “Chai Pattana”, and several patents on rainmaking since 1955.

The Bangkok Boneyard In February 2011, Christopher Schultz documented his exploration of an unusual aircraft graveyard in the somewhat incongruous environs of suburban Bangkok.

Lying immediately adjacent to the long Ramkhamhaeng Road, which connects the centre of Thailand’s capital to the city’s eastern limits, the massive, hulking remains of two Boeing 747 jetliners lay semidismantled on what appeared to be little more than a patch of wasteland.

Why the abandoned aircraft were brought to this specific site, which is estimated to be around four acres in size, is rather baffling. “By far the strangest thing is its location. Neither particularly close to the airport, nor in a particularly industrial area,” Schultz points out in the video. He adds that the boneyard is “situated on Ramkhamhaeng Road next to a condo, a primary school and a temple, adjacent to a canal.”

In a bid to find out more, the American expat paid a visit to the mysterious aircraft boneyard one Sunday morning. There he

discovered an early model Boeing 747 completely disassembled, its parts stacked among the weedstrewn scrubland. The front third of another ‘Jumbo Jet’, however, remained more intact.

Schultz described the incongruous scene as looking “like a giant model airplane kit nestled amongst the weeds, their bare ribs looking vaguely skeletal like the remains of prehistoric monsters.”

He continued: “Ironies abound as exit signs lead to the open air and oxygen masks mingle uselessly with dead leaves. The school next door stares down on the old planes, the cockpit of one plane resting like a skull without its jawbone.”

It’s understood that the surviving 747 forward fuselage is – or at one time was – due to be transformed into a coffee

shop at a different location.

But for now, it remains alongside an abandoned MD80 immediately adjacent to the busy Ramkhamhaeng Road, an incongruous relic amid one of the world’s strangest aircraft graveyards.
