Traditional Chicken Tika Masala
Alibaba, located on Pattaya Klang is Pattaya’s oldest Indian restaurant. Traditional food prepared with the freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection. One of the most popular dishes served is Chicken tikka. Chicken Tikka is a chicken dish originating in South Asia where it remains popular in India and Pakistan. It is traditionally small pieces of boneless chicken baked using skewers in a clay oven called a tandoor after marinating in spices
and yogurt, essentially a boneless version of tandoori chicken.

The word Tikka means “bits” or “pieces”, it is also a chicken dish served in Punjabi cuisine. The Punjabi version of the dish, however, is grilled over redhot coals, and does not always contain boneless pieces. The pieces are brushed with ghee (clarified butter) at intervals to increase its flavour, while being continuously fanned. It is typically eaten with green coriander and tamarind chutney served with

The dish is also popular in Afghanistan, though the Afghanistan variant (like many other Persian and Arab dishes) is less spicy compared to the South Asian variants and uses beef and lamb in addition to chicken.
Alibaba provides a unique atmosphere, that take you back to the time of “The Arabian Nights” and whilst we can’t promise that you will find real treasure, the food and service is certainly a treasure in its-self. people, such as a married couple or other images; and even furniture. Outside, around the balcony that usually surrounds a spirit house, incense holders, candle sticks, and vases for flowers are placed.
Spirit in the House Every house has one, every bar has one and just about every business has one. What are these spirit houses all about? Spirit Worship, or Animism, was a religion by which the entire world lived at one time, and when Buddhism came to Southeast Asia, it developed side by side with the ancient spirit religion. Today, many of the old animistic beliefs are intertwined with Buddhism and some animistic practices still exist in Thailand. One of these which is practiced by every Thai is the Spirit House. The purpose of the Spirit House is to provide an appealing shelter for the spirits, or celestial beings, who would otherwise reside in the heavens, Find a place in large trees, or in caves, cliffs. waterfalls or other natural surroundings. According to folklore, the spirits themselves are either good or evil, but most are just finicky and mischievous, demanding respect from humans and capable of disastrous interferences if they don’t get their way, The spirit of the land, for example. expects to be informed when a human intends to start a business or engage in improvements to an existing business. If the spirit is not informed, and if the human does not respectfully request permission, the spirit can indeed cause the venture to fail. The style and construction of a spirit house may be as simple as a typical Thai-style shelter or as elaborate as a Thai palace. The exact style often depends on two Factors, which spirit the person wishes to invite and how much one can afford for the spirit house construction. Construction itself is a specialized field and only
an expert Spirit House builder would be considered for proper construction. His responsibility, in addition to construction, is to be familiar with all the necessary rituals involved so that the spirit to be invited will find it an acceptable earthly abode. The house may be permanent or temporary, made of wood, concrete or brick. At certain times the spirits are invited down only for special occasions and this is when temporary spirit houses are built. the size may vary from the very small to a large, walk-in, ground-level affair. The houses are finished with statues, small figures, or symbols of many other sorts in the center within the spirit house. In addition, there may be various animal figures, such as elephants; figures of
There are countless gods and other celestial beings in Thai folklore, The primary spirits the Thai’s are concerned with, however, are called the Phra Bhum Jowthee , or Guardian Spirits of the Land, There are nine of guardians and each offers a different type of protection. The Guardian of the House and the Guardian of the Gardens are so frequently consulted with and prayed to that they are the only two that have permanent spirit houses built for them. The Guardian of the House is the spirit that watches over and protects the home. It is uncertain whether there is one spirit that watches over all homes, or if individual spirits do this for each home. However, all you have to do in Thailand is look around and you’ll see that every home has a spirit house. Thai families who believe wholeheartedly in the spirit house and it’s importance light incense every morning and ask the spirit to watch over and protect the home. Others do it on ritual occasions. The Guardian of the House includes the spirit or spirits who help In business matters, and spirit houses at business sites are of the same type. More often
than not in Thailand, the business and the home are in the same location. The Guardian of the Gardens also has a permanent spirit house shelter built for him. This spirit watches over and protects the natural surroundings, yards, gardens and orchards of the Thai family. There is a separate spirit for rice fields, so the Guardian of Gardens should not be mistaken for a spirit protecting all of agriculture. Rather, nature, flowers, plants and fruit are so important to the Thais that the Guardian of the Gardens receives a separate and permanent house of his own. The other seven Guardians of the Land are Protector of Gates and Stairwells, who is believed to reside in the home doorstep which explains why one should never step on the doorstep of a Thai home; Protector of Animals ; Protector of Storehouses and Barns; Protector of Forests; Mountains; fields and paddies; Protector of Temples; Protector of Waters ; and Protector of Military Forts and Defence. Offerings to a spirit house and the spirit who is intended to reside within can be nearly anything. The traditional offerings include flower garlands, betel leaves, bananas, rice, chicken, duck, and a wide range of other edibles and non-edibles. References provided by chiangmaichiangrai.com

The World Cup Is Coming Starting this month is arguably one of the most exciting Rugby World Cups, with no clear favourite it will be great viewing
The 8th Rugby World Cup will be held in England and Wales this year. The first match is on Friday 18th September between England v Fiji, with the final being held on Saturday 31st October (10pm Thai time) at Twickenham. The sport was allegedly started by William Webb Ellis in 1823 when he attended Rugby School, while playing football he picked up the ball and ran with it. Other historical milestones included the first ever international; played between England v Scotland in 1871, since then the sport has become truly international but it only went professional in 1995. The first Rugby World Cup was hosted by New Zealand in 1987, who beat France that year in the final 29-9, they also beat France when they last hosted the Cup
Africa last won it in 2007, when they defeated England 15-6 in the final.
in 2011. In fact, France have been runners up three times: 1987, 1999 (losing to Australia) and 2011. England are the only northern hemisphere team to have won the World Cup, when they beat Australia in the 2003 final, with that memorable Jonny Wilkinson drop goal with only seconds to go before the final whistle. This was sweet revenge for when Australia won the tournament in England back in 1991, the Wallabies were also victorious in 1999 when they defeated France.
The most memorable and exciting match ever played in World Cup history was probably the 1999 semi-final between New Zealand v France. The French “Les Bleus” were down 17-10 at half time and no-one gave them a chance. They famously came back to win 43-31 and thereby beat the overwhelming favourites and defy all the “expert” predictions. The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarter finals, Pool A is the “group of death” as only two will qualify from England, Australia and Wales.
South Africa have won the competition twice, the first time was when they were the hosts in 1995 and captained by Francois Peinaar, with Nelson Mandela famously wearing the apartheidera Springbok shirt onto the pitch. Hollywood even captured this momentous occasion in the film “Invictus” starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. South
South Africa will win Pool B comfortably with the second place up for grabs, New Zealand and Argentina should qualify from Pool C with France and Ireland 6
making up the last two places from Pool D. This year is a very open tournament, with no clear favourite; no-one has ever successfully defended the World Cup, France have been the bridesmaid three times, England have home advantage, South Africa look wounded and don’t discount Ireland or Australia to go all the way.
Did you Know? Before the first Rugby World Cup in 1987, the USA was technically the reigning international champion because they had won the gold medal at the 1924 Summer Olympics rugby tournament.

Shop around The Clock Who doesn’t love a bit of shopping, well OK possibly 95% of the male population, but hey you all know no matter you end up going, if for nothing more than to carry the copious amounts of bags. Now here in Pattaya you are almost spoilt for choice, high end designer gear to the genuine, honest, Ray-Ban Glasses, in fact you name it chances are you can find it somewhere. Now every Friday, Saturday and Sunday if you head along Threppasit Road situated on the way to Jomtien, just before you get to the junction of Sukhumvit Road you cannot miss the famous Night Market. Imagine an area the size of a football pitch literally crammed with all kinds of merchandise. It really is an Aladdin’s cave of goodies. If you’re looking for a souvenir to take home there is a wide and varied choice of jewellery, t-shirts, shoes, bags, music, dvd’s, in fact just about everything. Remember, the price they say is not the price to pay, be polite, be nice and ask for their “best price” they will come down at least 25% or more!
Shop & Swim Mikes Shopping Mall consists of a small supermarket, pharmacy, ice cream parlor, as well as money changers and various shops and kiosks selling clothes and locally manufactured goods. The upper floors house the actual Mike Department Store, with a food court and on the roof an amazing public swimming pool. The front entrance facing Beach Road features an open air beer garden and bandstand for the occasional live band. Along the north end of the mall lies “artist’s row”, a row of small stalls featuring local artists selling their original works, as well as copied masterpieces.
If you get a bit hungry while you are there don’t worry, there are two complete rows of food vendors offering you every local and many international dishes and the best bit, nearly everyone sells alcohol so what better way to relax having a beer while the wife or girlfriend relentlessly covers every inch of the market! The night market is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 11pm. 8

Bangkok - Bars With A View There are so many great bars in Bangkok. This month, we focus on our favourite bars that have the killer views.
The Red Sky Bar - Centara
The Amorosa is on the 4th floor of the Arun Residence Hotel and has to be one of the most romantic bars in town. Whilst it doesn’t have the height of other bars on our list, you are though rewarded with a magnificently framed view of Wat Arun. At the other end of the height scale is the revolving restaurant at the top of the Bayioke Sky Hotel. Located on the 83rd floor the view is amazing. Unfortunately though the bar is now fairly outdated and lacking in atmosphere (maybe something to do with the height!) The Red Sky, located on the 55th floor of the Grand Centara Hotel offers probably the best views of the city. The bar is set over two floors and has complete 360 degree views. The design is very modern with an amazing multicoloured arch that forms the centre piece. Zoom Bar is on the 40th floor of the Anantara Sathorn Hotel and covers the entire roof, provide great 360 degree views. It is all open air and in the middle there is a large bar surrounded with terraces on a lower level with sofas and low tables. It is a chic looking place, but still relaxed with a DJ on most nights. The Distil Bar is located on the 64th floor of the Lebua Hotel, it has a huge range of drinks and cigars available. The bar is inside, so makes for a good option if the
weather isn’t great. Whilst you are at the Lebua Hotel, you can also head down one floor to the Sky Bar. The sky bar is one of the worlds highest outdoor bars and offers great views of the city and Chao Phraya River below. Try and get to this bar early, around 6pm and it wont be too crowded and you will be rewarded with a stunning sunset. Later in the evenings, the atmosphere can be somewhat ruined with the number of people and constant camera flashes going off. Our final favourite is The Moon Bar at Vertigo on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel which offers a great selection of cocktails and fine dining.
Sky Bar - Lebua Hotel
All of the bars have a fairly strict dress code and you wont be welcomed if you arrive with a backpack and dressed in a T-Shirt and shorts.

Take Care!!
Take Care!! provides and disseminates resources and information regarding safer sex with the aim of preventing the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in Pattaya and environs. Prevention of STIs is vastly less expensive than the time, cost, energy and resources required for their treatment. Except for abstinence, condom use during every encounter involving the possible exchange of bodily fluids is the best prevention method available. Take Care!! is a volunteer charity project, formed in January 2005, at the suggestion of Dr. Philippe Seur. Funds are generated through donations and fund-raising events. To date, 200,000 condoms and 100,000 lubes have been distributed to over sixty participating venues located in Pattayaland, Sunee Plaza and Jomtien Complex. They offer many daily standard dishes at 375 baht, of which the most popular is the Mixed Grill Plate. Every month they have a very popular “Theme evening” such as “Strolling through Europe” or “Around the World” and other themes with many interesting dishes and anything you can eat at a fixed price. 12 Things That Make Foreigners Different to Thais 1. They eat all the time – food is not an enemy to be avoided but a good excuse to spend time with friends, family and co-workers. 2. They don’t use the knife – when it comes to table etiquette Thais use the spoon that goes in the right hand and the fork in the left one. This is not a big issue since the local food is usually finely cut. 3. They expect you to order as soon as you sit at the table – Don’t be surprised when you arrive at a restaurant to be given a menu and simultaneously asked for your order. I have no idea why, but it often seems to be the case! 4. Lunch break with the purse – Thai women leave their bags in the office and head for the lunch break taking with them only the purse, mobile and company badge (which is also used to reserve the table while choosing the food). 5. They add ka at the end of every sentence (or krub for men) – adding this word makes the sentence sound more polite. It is similar to the English please, even though the use of ka/krub is far more extensive. 6. They show respect to the Royal family – Thais love the King and the Royal family. In honour of the King’s birthday millions of locals wear yellow shirts, t-shirts and polos.

7. They love their country – some Thais have travelled/lived abroad for a while, others would like to, but both categories are firm that they wouldn’t change their homeland for anything in the world. 8. They are selfie obsessed – I take selfies, therefore I am is the philosophy Thais live by. Any place and time is suitable to take the picture. Even during a religious service in the temple. 9. They are obsessed with white skin – everyone knows that Asian people in general appreciate white skin. There is a whole industry behind this phenomenon. What I didn’t know was that real time whitening camera apps exist. 10. They are happy – and it’s contagious. Happiness is an attitude and it comes from within. And Thai people know something about it. 11. They are relaxed – imagine what will happen in the Western world if the traffic light stays red for more than 10 minutes. Do you know what happens in Pattaya? Nothing! Everyone waits patiently and what is most important – silently. 12. A Whole Family can fit on a motorbike - and not just motorbikes either, it is amazing some of the overloaded vehicles you see around Thailand.

Splish, Splash, Splosh! We all love the beach and lazing around in the sun, however, there are times when we just want to have a bit of fun and throw ourselves about a bit. Well luckily for us we have just that situated right here on our doorstep. Pattaya Water Park, just off Threppaya Road heading from Pratumnak Hill towards Jomtien, has a mix of just about everything. Sure it’s not going to challenge Disney Land or Alton
Towers alike, but what it does offer is a great place to spend a few hours with the family and kids.
people to use so great if there are a few of you going. The water park consists of a very large motion pool you can laze around, two purpose built children’s swimming pools and of course the slide area where you can choose just how daring you want to be. The Purple and Red slides are the typical twisting and turning slides that we all love.
Pay your 100 Baht entrance fee and you are in, head down the steps and you are greeted with the locker room, shop, small restaurant and changing rooms. Head past these and the park opens up into quite a large area. Dotted around are small sun shades with a table and longer chairs suitable for up to 10
If you want to push yourself a little further you may want to take on the Blue slide which are more direct and faster and for those of you who are really daring then you can take on the yellow slides which really are fast and furious and almost straight down, make sure your shorts are well fastened and bikini tops secured, otherwise you may end up a little embarrassed!! It’s a fun place for a few hours and let’s face it, we all love splashing around right? Once you are done with the water park, why not take a walk around the other attractions at Pattaya Park? There are various amusement rides and of course Pattaya Park Tower, is the highest building in Pattaya and offers magnificent views across Jomtien and beyond. Open from 10am until 7pm. For more information check out their website www.pattayapark.com

Essentials Pattaya is blessed with so many things for kids and families to do, so if the Pattaya Park fun pool isn’t your thing, then why not try some of these other great places to visit: Grand Centara Mirage has its very own water park open to the public. There is toddlers themed area as well as many natural looking water slides, diving pool and even an artificial beach. The Amazone Cartoon Network water park just outside the city is a huge water park suitable for all ages. There is a massive children’s area and a wide variety of rides for teens and adults alike. The water park can be quite pricey, in line with most European parks but it is also great fun. One to watch out for opening at the end of the year is the new water park opening at Silverlake. They are currently running a naming competition for the water park and it is set to be the biggest water park by far in Pattaya.

A Taste Of What’s to Come.......
Coming late this month to the Dark Side is a whole new concept in dining as Chef Patric Ersgarden takes over a residency. Patric Ersgården comes from Sweden and has been working as a chef for the past 30 years. His career has taken him from Lund, Stockholm and Seattle, all the way to Thailand. In the States he worked for NAF Productions where he was their resident chef cooking for the likes of Red Stewart, Celine Dion, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Patric has now been resident in Thailand for the last 9 years and will soon take up residence (next month) at the Mirabel Resort with his new venture Restaurant Bagheria. All of his dishes originate from various parts of Europe and get
mixed “fused” with local Asian delicacies. The restaurant’s concept is built around pushing your palate and the fresh ingredients are especially chosen when they’re in season and for their taste. The creative presentation that you will find in the dishes stems from the kitchen’s highly-trained team. Much care and dedication is put into the food preparation so that diners will come away having truly had a brilliant experience. The chef’s motto is: “The luxury doesn’t lie in what the ingredients cost! The luxury is actually in how you prepare and present your dishes.”

Fluro Chicks For Sale? I don’t know what’s happening with the world, but it seems that things that were cute by default a few years ago, just aren’t cute enough today. People are dying their puppies to look like wild animals, fish have to be either tattooed or locked in tiny key chains, and chicks apparently have to be brightly coloured to sell. Dyed chicks are now being sold in markets across Thailand, including Pattaya, where they attract the attention of passers by with their unnatural colors. But what most people don’t know is these “cute” baby birds aren’t dyed after hatching, they are injected with
the dye as embryos, inside the egg. Some vendors inject the eggs with stuff like hydrogen peroxide and ammonia, while others use “harmless” food colouring. But since when is food colouring harmless when injected into the egg of a fetus? In reality, while some chicks prove extremely resilient to the dye, many are intoxicated and die before hatching. The ones that make it only remain purple, pink or blue until they start growing undyed feathers, which brings us to another serious problem. Most people pay for a colored chick and when it grows into a common cockerel, they just get rid of it, a practice that encourages children to view pets like easily replaceable toys they can just throw away when bored. At Buzzin, we ask you to please not support this unnecessary trade.
