Time To Shine Flowers in your hair, glitter on your face – glam it up with ball-worthy updos, iridescent hues and galactic shimmers.
Want to rock glitter without veering into tacky-tinsel territory? Add some bling to your peepers. Go for a soft smoky eye and sprinkle on gold flecks of eyeshadow across your lids. To prevent pesky fallout, have a piece of scotch tape handy to clean up around the eye area.
(From left to right) 3CE Pot Eye Shadow in Holy Chic, $29 Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Unlaced, $40 Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Crystal Lip Gloss in Fired Crystal, $55 LANEIGE Ideal Shadow Quad in Flash Gold Pop, $42
CAUTION Always use cosmetic-grade glitter instead of craft glitter as loose glitter particles may end up hurting your eye. If glitter does get
into your eyes, use eyedrops to flush out the glitter by blinking rapidly. But if it begins to sting or swell, go to the doctor immediately!

‘SUN IS SHINING’ – AXWELL^INGROSSO
“A simple band of gold, wrapped around my soul / Hard forgiving, hard forget” croons the Swedish DJ duo, and boy does it reflect our exact sentiments. One of the most bittersweet parts of prom is saying goodbye to the friends we hold close for years, and the lyrics tug straight at our hearts. Whilst touching, the powerful vocals and euphoric synths are guaranteed to get you pumped up for the night – it’s no wonder this track is a definite crowd favourite at music festivals too!
‘PLASTIC HEARTS’ – DISCO HUE
For those who want to take things a little slower, homegrown synthpop quartet Disco Hue delivers deliciously chill beats that you simply can’t get enough of even after the night comes to an end. With romantic lyrics like “Your touch is sugar sweet, I’ll see you for another day in my dreams”, cruise down the open road on the way home as you relive the best moments of the night with this effervescent track.
‘I LIVED’ – ONEREPUBLIC
What’s so bad about going stag for prom, ladies and gents? As OneRepublic boldly declares, “And I hope that you don’t suffer, but take the pain / Hope when the moment comes you’ll say, I did it all”. A reminder to live in the moment and “own every second this world could give”, pump up the volume on this empowering anthem and hit up the dancefloor – you’re about to have the best night yet. Two words: carpe diem!
‘CHASING CARS’ – SNOW PATROL
For the hopeless (and hopeful) romantics of the night, this power ballad has a beautiful chord accompanied by heartwarming lyrics to match: “If I lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?” If you’ve chickened out asking your date to prom, ‘Chasing Cars’ is the perfect track to dedicate to that special someone – and you have our promise nobody will be able to say no to such an emotive number.
‘SEE YOU AGAIN’ – WIZ KHALIFA FT. CHARLIE PUTH ‘24K MAGIC’ – BRUNO MARS
Nothing beats an upbeat banger to kick-start prom, and who better to get everyone moving than the modernday king of pop himself? With its retro funk vibes and subtle hip-hop elements, ’24K Magic’ is not a charttopper for nothing. When Bruno Mars crafted this surefire hit, he clearly had an agenda: put on your finest duds and dance the night away with this groovy tune on blast.
73
For anyone who knows the feeling of losing a dear companion, this Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa track’s the one. A tribute to late actor Paul Walker, the all too familiar backstory of this soaring tune will inevitably strike a chord in many of our hearts. The emotional chorus “It’s been a long day without you, my friend / And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again” unambiguously reflects the pain of leaving your senior year behind and parting with your longtime pals – before saying goodbye.

LOVE YOURSELF: HER – BTS The boys have truly outdone themselves with their fifth EP, which builds on their original hip-hop roots for a more experimental sound. While title track ‘DNA’ and The Chainsmokers-assisted ‘Best of Me’ are undeniable highlights, it’s the B-side tracks – from a mid-tempo earworm that playfully roasts fans, to a tune inspired by former President Barack Obama that hits back at haters – that will keep you coming back for more.
TELL ME YOU LOVE ME – DEMI LOVATO If you thought 2015’s Confident was Demi at her powerhouse best, you’re in for yet another boisterous treat with Tell Me You Love Me. After going through a much-needed toughening up, the pop star is back to declare her dominance with sheer vocal firepower. From a proverbial bird-flip to her naysayers on ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ to boldly spilling her inner desires on ‘Ruin The Friendship’, Demi is truly taking control of her life – and she ain’t sorry.

Justice League The Justice League blockbuster every DC Comics fan has been eagerly anticipating will finally be hitting our silver screens, and it’s gearing up to be DC’s biggest production yet. Unlike others who already had their internship during their polytechnic years, I was a fresh graduate with zero real-world experience. Thus, I settled for an unpaid internship at a start-up company located in a ‘home office’. It was three months of hell as I would fetch them coffee from the kopitiam every morning, go grocery shopping to stock up for the office fridge, and even help my boss to clean up his room. Once, I got locked out as the team went out partying the previous night. I gave my boss a call, secretly hoping he would dismiss me early for the day – but instead, he demanded that I stay put by the door until they show up. I ended up waiting for four hours. Mundane chores aside, I also had no income whereas all my friends were fetching high salaries. Luckily, I had been sending out resumes and finally received a job offer, so I called it quits. One day, I happened to bump into my old boss while I was heading to a meeting. We

meeting with the higherups. Tension was thick in the air and it was painfully obvious that I was the newbie because I couldn’t stop fidgeting. I tried to pay attention, but I had no idea what was going on as nobody cared to fill me in.

How to deal:
• While you’re expected
to help out with menial tasks, it shouldn’t make up the bulk of your daily routine. Try setting up a private meeting and come prepared with a list of personal goals you wish to accomplish for the company. This will give your boss a better idea of what you can contribute.
I was interning at a major public relations firm and it was a company that anyone would kill to work at. Being accepted into such a reputable corporation, I was elated and couldn’t wait to start work. During my first day of internship, I was asked to sit in for a

I began to lose concentration and started playing with my phone under the table. I thought I was being discreet, but the director who was heading the meeting noticed – slamming the table in anger and calling me out

in front of everyone. After he was done yelling, he got everyone to surrender their electronics and kept them until the meeting ended. Knowing that I was in the wrong, I mustered the courage to go up to him and apologise for my misconduct after the meeting. Thankfully, he wasn’t as unreasonable as I thought and told me to never do it again. Lesson learned: stay off your phones during meetings!

First-day jitters? Don’t sweat it. Chances are the other interns are probably feeling just as nervous as you are, so go up to them and introduce yourself. You can approach them for help, vent to each other when you’re stressed and bounce ideas off one another. Bonus: you’ll make a new friend!
Look professional. This might be a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised
how many interns end up breaking the dress code. Depending on your workplace, make the effort to at least look presentable for work. First impressions are important!
Be proactive and ask questions. You’ll be surrounded with people who are experts in their field and who better to learn from than the ones who know it best? They might be hard to approach at first, but rest assured they’ll be more than happy to offer their advice.
The heavy workload might leave you overwhelmed especially in a fast-paced environment, so all the more you should keep yourself organised. Not only does it help you to be more efficient in carrying out tasks, it’ll also reflect better on you as a valuable asset to the team.
After completing your internship, make an effort to stay in touch with your colleagues so they can keep you on their radar. Show that you appreciate the relationships fostered by sending them a holiday greeting, or popping by for lunch whenever you’re in the area. Who knows, they might just keep you in mind for job referrals or future opportunities!
Whether or not your internship was a good one, keep in mind that it isn’t the end and you have a vast future ahead. Even if you decide that it isn’t the right career path for you, at least you’ve gained worthy experience to use on your resume. Most importantly, give yourself credit for all the work you’ve done and be proud of it!

November is a month of reinvention for you! Things might take an unexpected turn at the end of the year, but don’t panic just yet. Be open to change and embrace all that’s to come – whether it’s getting yourself a new hairdo or cutting a toxic friend out of your life. It’s time to get out of your own head and gain a fresh perspective.
94
Life has been a bit of a whirlwind recently, hasn’t it? You may be the type who rarely buckles under pressure, but all the stress accumulated overtime has inevitably taken a toll on you. However, this isn’t a time to waver – tackle it with grit and your endurance will be duly rewarded. Hang in there, the tough times will pass just before you know it.
You’re on a roll, Cap! While you’ve been buzzing with plenty of great ideas recently, remember to tread with caution lest you end up biting off more than you can chew. For now, it’s best to complete what you currently have on hand before starting on something new. Who knows, you might end up deriving a lot more satisfaction from finishing up those uncompleted tasks instead!
Lucky you, all the hard work you’ve put in over the last few weeks is finally paying off! Perhaps it’s a project you’ve been helping out on the sidelines or maybe it’s that next big idea you’ve been toying around with, but recognition will soon come your way for an achievement you thought nobody would ever notice. Anything is possible when you’re determined enough!
19 FEB – 20 MAR
Feeling a little down in the dumps these days? An unexpected situation could crop up that might create some unnecessary drama, but don’t let that bring you down. If you need an instant mood boost, nothing will lift your spirits more than being around the people you love. Call up your favourite pal, send a text to catch up with a longtime friend, and surround yourself with positive vibes!

Your personal obligations have caused your family to take a backseat lately. This November, how about taking some time off to spend it with the ones that matter the most? It can be as simple as preparing a home-cooked meal, accompanying them on a trip to the grocery, or organising a weekend outing for the fam – they will truly appreciate the extra effort you’re making to show them you care.
Well, aren’t you the social butterfly! Now that the school year’s coming to an end and your social calendar is piling up, your schedule will soon be filled to the brim for the remainder of the year. Although you definitely deserve to let your hair down after the gruelling academic term, don’t be afraid to decline any invitations should you feel stretched too thin. Plan your time wisely, and most importantly, have fun!
Be prepared Gem, November’s gearing up to be one heck of a rollercoaster ride! Some good news could arrive or a past conflict over a casual dinner conversation could resurface, but that isn’t something you can’t handle with a little judgement. Take it in stride and go with the flow – life might just surprise you in the most wonderful ways!
This month, you are likely to find yourself at a junction where you need to make difficult decisions. Don’t worry too much though, feeling torn is not necessarily a bad thing. All you need to do is to take a step back and think about what’s truly the most important to you. The key is to be realistic and don’t let your emotions get the best of you – you will get the answers you need once you have everything figured out.
95
There’s so much going on in your life right now that you may not even want to sit still, but you may want to take it slow and start reconnecting with your priorities. While it’s cool that you’re keeping yourself busy, it’s also important to take good care of yourself so you don’t burn out. Spend some time enjoying the outdoors this weekend, or a night out on the town with your squad!
November looks set to be a smooth month for you, where both your personal ambitions and professional pursuits will yield great results. Be it vying for that big promotion at work or looking to take things up a notch with a lucky someone, there’s no better time to go forth and conquer than now. Amazing things are just around the corner!
Uh oh, you’ve found yourself caught up in a major conflict between your group of friends and it’s causing everyone unnecessary tension. But trust in your natural peacekeeping characteristics, and know that things will work themselves out in the end. Your family will also be there for you to count on should you need help in dealing with your situation. This too shall pass!
