Ed's Note Hey everyone, Do you “Work hard”, or
“Work smart”? To me, the
question should be: “Why not do both?” The way I see it, these go hand in hand – while making smart choices

that’s only half the battle won. Actually putting in the hours

things hack related! Be it improving and saving on your

So InstaWorthy!
Food Anatomy Tanjong Pagar Centre #B2-04, Singapore 757492
This is not a drill: your favourite local delights are now served in bite-sized versions. Enter Food Anatomy, the brainchild behind these deconstructed novelty treats with a pint-sized 14-seater space to match. At a surprisingly affordable price of $2.50 per cube, they spin homegrown flavours into wacky modular dishes from the likes of nasi lemak, rice dumpling and laksa pasta – each so itty-bitty that you can probably wolf down a dozen without a problem. Plus, it’s Instagram fodder at its finest. We can’t help but admire the artistry that goes into every creation, all meticulously designed down to the very last layer. Our only gripe was that the cubes are pre-made and heated up upon order, but they still tasted fresh when served so that shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Organising Is Key Never misplace your keys again with this cool key rack! You will need two 30cm-long pieces of wooden planks (we got ours from the craft store). Cut the first plank into five parts with widths measuring approximately 5.5cm each. Then, glue the five pieces on top of the second wooden plank, making sure to leave some gaps between to hang the keys. You will also need to construct special key chains for this. To make those, pull thin handicraft rope through your key and secure with large wooden beads at the top so that they can be easily slotted into the key rack.

Boys Of The Moment Arguably one of the biggest bands in K-pop, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t heard of EXO. And while they certainly shine brightest together onstage, each member of this nine-man outfit stands strong even on solo plateaus. Here’s your exclusive map to navigating the stars behind the OT9 dream team. By chew hui ling
“We are one!”, nine lads
announce in unison as they huddle together for one final bow. This is the mandatory on-stage hurrah that has followed K-pop’s biggest boy band from their humble beginnings, to leaving an entire ocean of lightstickwielding EXO-Ls trailing in their wake. It’s been half a decade of EXO mania for Skechers’ latest ambassadors, having claimed the throne of K-pop
dominance and accomplished triplemillion feats. Not many acts are able to survive their five-year shelf life, but EXO is far from losing steam – what with their well-packaged recipe of slick choreographies, addictive teenybopper earworms and heartthrob good looks. Perhaps it’s because of that which made us view EXO as a well-oiled machine – take one out and it’s not the same
anymore (we miss you, KrisLuTao!). And while we love it when the gang gets together, we often forget that behind their impeccable team effort lies a myriad of unique personalities and charms that aren’t always translated to their presence in the group. Ahead, we shine the spotlight on each member and break down how the boys have evolved over time.
Then
Don’t be fooled by his doe-eyed demeanour and tiny frame; mess with D.O. and you’ll suffer in the clutches of his deadly headlocks. Don’t believe us? Ask Baekhyun. The rule of thumb is to never ever ask him to do aegyo, but in retrospect, the dude ends up being totally adorable no matter what he does anyway so... yay for fan service?
Now
Who’d ever expect this squishy ball of sunshine to be so immensely talented at acting? Forget EXO’s D.O. and let actor Do Kyungsoo invade this space for a moment. After getting his mega break on It’s Okay, That’s Love, the rising actor went on to land leading roles on the big screen, with three upcoming films to look out for in 2017!
We predict...
There’s no doubt about it that a full-fledged acting career is in the cards for D.O. Juggling between acting and music is probably the tricky part, but there’s always the members cheering him on!
46
D.O.
BAEKHYUN Then
From a cheeky boy-next-door who wasn’t shy ‘bout showing off his infamous light switch dance, to becoming a part of K-pop’s most successful export, Baekhyun’s life has truly taken a turn for the unthinkable. And even in EXO, he’s still the designated goofball. After all, EXO Showtime wouldn’t be complete without Baekhyun’s slapstick hijinks and notorious slangs (kkaebsong, anyone?). The kings have arrived. Don’t miss ‘em at the EXOPLANET #3 – The EXO’rDIUM in Singapore on 2 April at the Singapore Indoor Stadium! Tickets from $128, www.sportshubtix.sg
Now
Boy, did our lanky bacon grow up to be a fine man. One moment he’s prancing around like a love puppy, and within a flash he’s all smoldering eyeliner and washboard abs. Plus, he’s quite the soughtafter duet candidate recently – just ask Suzy and Soyou!
We predict…
Living up to his rep as the king of collaborations, we can foresee Baekhyun receiving tons of love calls from potential duet partners. PS: Hey S.M., we’re still waiting for that ChanBaek collab to happen...

It’s been two decades since Coldplay entered the scene and what a successful career they’ve had! In anticipation of their sold out shows here, we take a look at their most epic moments thus far. By Germaine Cheah

With over 20 years of overwhelming success, you would think that they’d get recognised everywhere they went – apparently not! Rita Ora recently shared that during the 2012 Mylo Xyloto Tour, she had to come to Chris Martin’s rescue when his own tour security detail refused to let him through when they went to get food, because the frontman didn’t have his backstage pass with him. And the guard didn’t recognise Chris. We kinda wish someone had video evidence of that totally LOL moment...
tribute to the late George Michael, who passed away on Christmas Day.
A Wedding Proposal Blunder
The Internet (us included) has so much love for mid-concert wedding proposals, and needless to say, Coldplay’s edition is one of our favourites. During their recent Melbourne show, the band stopped halfway through ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’ to allow an excited fan the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend. But things didn’t go exactly as planned when it was revealed that the lady whom Chris initially called on stage was actually the wrong person. Awkward conversations and shuffles aside, the actual girlfriend was eventually brought up on stage. Thankfully, she said yes!
Ain’t Got Time For No Technical Glitch
The headliners were in the middle of their set at the 2016 Glastonbury Festival when a technical glitch arose. Realising that the piano was out of tune during ‘Everglow’, the lead singer then decided to continue the song without the backing of his band. It was a move that had concert attendees and netizens alike heaping praise for his strong vocals and performance ethics – #ChrisMartinForPrimeMinister even trended on Twitter!

They Gifted Us A Game Of Thrones Musical
An avid supporter of the Crisis organisation that helps out the nation’s homeless people, Chris took time out of his busy schedule to surprise the residents of the homeless shelter over the festive season last year. Performing hits from his own repertoire, the singer also let some of the residents and volunteers take a turn on the microphone while he provided the backing music. But perhaps what was most poignant of all was when the star performed a cover of Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’, a timely
In support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, the boys decided to get the stars of the blockbuster series Game of Thrones together to create a Westeros musical. From a solo by Tyrion Lannister to a reggae track by the “Mother of Dragons” herself, the comedy sketch was definitely a highlight of the band’s illustrious career. As Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) put it so eloquently, “George R.R. Martin meets Chris Martin, what could go wrong?” Be sure to check it out on Coldplay’s official Youtube channel!

Turnt Up With her recharged music career shaping up to be one to watch, Tabitha Nauser proves she really is ‘Bulletproof’. Fire away! By bryan yeong
W
hen Tabitha Nauser dropped her new single ‘Bulletproof’ in February with guns ablaze, it wasn’t just hot – it was searing with passion. With a name easily synonymous to different titles held during her career thus far (“The Singapore Idol contestant ah? Or is it the radio deejay?”), it was refreshing to finally see her step out and reclaim the talent that first wowed us: making music. In light of her comeback, we take a look at her best career highlights.
Listen to Tabitha Nauser’s new single ‘Bulletproof’, out on Spotify now!

Kingston and Jessica Mauboy. Despite being the youngest and least experienced of the lot, Tabitha held her own and impressed with her performance at the games’ opening ceremony, which was televised worldwide. If that isn’t an astounding feat, we don’t know what is!
Idol Days
We first fell in love with a fresh-faced Tabitha back in 2009, during the third and final season of Singapore Idol, when she blew us away at the auditions with her performance of Etta James’ ‘At Last’. It came as no surprise that all three judges (Ken Lim, Florence Lian and Dick Lee) marked her as a competition favourite. Although she ultimately finished in third place, it was obvious that Tabitha (by then already affectionately known to the public as “Tabby”) had more surprises up her sleeve. And boy did she blow us away!
The Acting Bug
Dipping her toes into acting, Tabitha incorporated her passion for singing with acclaimed theatre productions, making her acting debut on National Broadway Company. She followed up with a stint on a revival of ’70s musical comedy Hotpants in 2014, reuniting her with former Idol judge Dick Lee and fellow alumni Joakim Gomez; and cemented her status as an undeniable force in the local scene. Most recently, she was seen rocking the stage as effervescent Mimi Marquez in 2016’s production of Rent.

This gave rise to Turn Up With Tabitha, Singapore’s first-ever dedicated hip-hop (finally!) weekday show – where she put the coolest new R&B and hip-hop tracks on rotation. Tabby has since left 987FM to concentrate on her music career, and although her presence will be missed, we’re stoked for what’s to come!

love songs are so clichÉ - here are six tunes that perfectly sum up different financial situations you may find yourself in. By Bryan Yeong
‘Rich Girl (Feat. Eve)’ – Gwen Stefani ‘B**** Better Have My Money’ – Rihanna
‘The Life’ – Fifth Harmony
‘Billionaire (Feat. Bruno Mars)’ – Travie McCoy
‘Price Tag’ – Jessie J ‘Money’ – 5 Seconds Of Summer

‘B**** Better Have My Money’ – Rihanna
When Your BFF Borrowed Money From You and Hasn’t Paid You Back We’ve all been there. Your friend borrows money and you don’t see the cash returned for days. You don’t mean to be a scrooge but hey, you’re on a budget too. Not sure how to confront the situation without risking awkwardness? Thank God for Riri. Play this 2015 track with your friend, pretend to have a karaoke session with them and they might just magically recall their debt to you!
‘Billionaire (Feat. Bruno Mars)’ – Travie McCoy When Your Parents play The Lottery
It’s difficult to resist getting swept (pun intended) into the lottery craze in Singapore. And there’s no better time to have some wishful thinking and hope to be a billionaire “so freakin’ bad” just like Bruno Mars and Travie McCoy, than when your parents purchase those potentially life-changing slips of paper. Hey, who says you can’t dream big?
‘The Life’ – Fifth Harmony ‘Rich Girl (Feat. Eve)’ – Gwen Stefani
When You’re On Holiday And Feeling Rich
Let Gwen Stefani and Eve be your muses as you go “nanananana” while taking a stroll along the endless stretch of shops while daydreaming ’bout buying everything you see. We can’t help but to unleash our inner spendthrifts when blasting this classic tune, and oh how we wish our cash flow would never, ever end either. If only.
The girls of 5H sing about “eating good”, “getting lit” and living ‘The Life’ on this cut from their album 7/27, and isn’t that exactly how it feels like when you’re on holiday? Have this track playing in the background as your favourite drink is served up or while strutting down the streets in your shades feeling like a million bucks. Yeah, we know vacations and feeling super fly don’t always last forever, but you know what they say... “fake it ‘til you make it”.
‘Money’ – 5 Seconds Of Summer
‘Price Tag’ – Jessie J
When You’re Window Shopping Along Orchard Road
When Your Favourite Artiste Comes To Town Yet another favourite music act of yours is coming to town and your parents aren’t down for buying you tickets. That only leaves for one guaranteed solution, and that is to save your allowance for your own admission through. Scream out both your excitement and frustration along to the “Take My Money!” part of this 5SOS single and before you know it, you’ll be at the concert screaming your lungs out! So worth it.

When You Realise Money Isn’t The Most Important Thing In The World
A wise singer by the name of Jessie J once imparted a valuable lesson – that “it’s not about the money, money, money”, and perhaps no truer lyrics have ever been sung. While being able to splurge is a privilege, it certainly doesn’t guarantee happiness. So even if you can’t always afford the materialistic things in life, let this song be a reminder that you can always be rich in your heart.

Wasted Resource 22 April marks Earth Day, a yearly affair to raise awareness for, and support environmental protection. Wanna do your part? Here are seven tips to help you reduce your carbon footprint. by Germaine Cheah
Unplug Your Gadgets We’ve all been guilty of leaving our devices charging for longer than needed, especially through the night. But did you know that this unnecessarily releases thousands of carbon dioxide particles into the atmosphere? It’s time for a change! Make a conscious effort to switch charging devices off (and any other electrical outlets) before you head to bed. This way, you’ll save both the Earth and on your electricity bills.
Share Your Transport Load Transportation is a huge source of greenhouse gas emissions, so taking the public transport or even carpooling can help reduce the amount of carbon emissions released. Whenever possible, try to walk, ride a bike, or even take the stairs to your destination – say yay for being an eco warrior while keeping fit!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle The products that we use daily require energy, produced by burning fossil fuels, for its manufacture and disposal. By recycling these goods so that they can be reused to make a new product, we are reducing the energy needed to make them from scratch. Be it paper, plastic or metals, make it a point to pop them into their respective recycle bins instead of throwing it into the generic trash cans.
Saving The Earth Starts At Home
Avoid Products With Unnecessary Packaging Help save the environment while shopping by avoiding buying products that use unnecessary packaging. A good tip is to look around at different shops selling similar products before finally deciding on one. And avoid using plastic bags where possible – plastics are non-biodegradable material so minimising your usage will decrease the amount of carbon dioxide produced.
Cook Only What You Can Eat Consider this: the carbon footprint from food waste is bigger than all countries except for China and the United States - that’s a whopping 194 countries total! Between farmers to consumers, more than 30 per cent of all the food produced yearly is wasted, which rots and creates a ton of greenhouse gasses. So the next time you head to a grocery store, make a mental note to only buy and cook what is necessary.
Conserve paper Textbooks, lecture notes, assignment submissions, and even exam scripts; while it’s impossible to go entirely paper-less for now, the integration of digital platforms does help to reduce the amount of paper used. Do your part by sharing notes with classmates or using digital note-taking – if you really have to, then print on both sides of the paper, reuse scrap paper and only print when absolutely necessary.

Switch To Energy-Saving Appliances From the lights to the washing machine, change the appliances in your home to energy saving ones. Replace those energy-guzzling halogen lights for their LED equivalents. As for the bigger items, pay close attention to the energy label on them and choose one that best suits your family’s lifestyle.

Make sure all the water faucets around the house are turned off properly before leaving Choose one or the other, don’t leave the aircon and fan running at the same time Prolong the life of plastic containers and bottles by finding other uses for it (e.g. reusing takeaway containers to store leftover food) As much as possible, try to use sunlight as a natural source of luminance instead of using artificial lights Put out a pail to collect rainwater that can be used for outdoor tasks like watering the plants and washing the car Practice proper operation of home appliances, e.g. only run your washing machine when there is a full load of clothes, using half and full toilet flushes as and when appropriate

Donate Your PreLoved Threads Wanna get rid of all the clothes that no longer fit you? Don’t just toss ‘em away – give your old wardrobe a new lease of life by dropping it off at The Salvation Army or other non-profit organisations. Thrift shops such as New2U Thrift Shop also take in secondhand items – proceeds would go towards social initiatives like the Star Shelter, a temporary refuge for victims of domestic violence.
Listen Out For The Karang Guni Man Remember that stash of old textbooks and lecture notes you left piling up at a dusty corner? If making your way down to the recycling bins is too much of a hassle, you’ve got loads to thank our neighbourhood karang guni (rag-and-bone) man, who would go honking from door-to-door to haul away your unwanted papers and sell them to a waste recycling company. Become A Playmate If you have a soft spot for children, you might consider being a companion for child patients, to brighten their day and help take their minds off their illnesses. The KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital organises play sessions where you can interact with kids, plus help out in various entertainment activities such as art and crafts, balloon sculpting and even mascot visits. However, it’s gonna take a great deal of dedication so be sure to think it through before signing up.

Save A Life (Or Three) Did you know a single bag of blood can save not one, but three lives? It only takes you an hour or less to complete the process, but your contribution will go a long way in answering the needs of patients who are suffering from bloodrelated medical conditions or undergoing emergency surgeries. You can either make a donation at one of the four blood banks in Singapore, or find a community blood drive near you.

Doing The Dirty Work Help make the area around you a clean one – all you really have to do is to take a few minutes of your time to stop and pick up rubbish. Heading out for a picnic? Take a bag with you and keep your eyes peeled for junk along the route. Spotted a litterbug on the trails? Point out that trash can around the corner. It’s one of the simplest ways to set a good example and better the community – and who knows, you might even inspire others to do the same!
Going Green Make the conscious decision to be more environmentally friendly. Not only does it help to reduce your carbon footprint (more energysaving hacks on p.70!), you’ll also save yourself a ton of money in the long run. It can be as simple as investing in a reusable coffee cup for your Starbucks takeaways, taking faster showers to cut down on water usage and unplugging your devices when not in use to conserve electricity. Going green has never been easier!
Feed The Needy While most of us have the luxury of feasting on whatever we want, there are others who are struggling to put food on the table. The next time you’re about to throw away those excess cans of food, let the folks at The Food Bank Singapore collect and distribute these necessities to the underprivileged instead. Likewise, you can also volunteer in charity soup kitchens such as Willing Hearts, which prepares and delivers meals for needy families across the country.

18:00 In between your
day-to-day errands, make sure to reserve one of your tasks for yourself. Take the time to hang out with friends, get a manicure, or treat yourself to a nice meal. You deserve it!
21:00 Laughter is the best
medicine! Watch your favourite comedy TV series, listen to some standup on Spotify, or attempt the ‘Try Not To Laugh’ challenge – all guaranteed to put you to bed with a smile.

You will be given a huge task this month, but while it’s a good opportunity, your tendency to shoulder responsibilities alone might have you biting off more than you can chew. There’s no shame in asking for help; work smart by using the resources that are available to you and asking for help when you need it. You’ll be able to expand your capacity and work more efficiently that way.
Life has gotten a bit dull recently, but it’s time to shake things up! Your calendar will be filled to the brim with school and social activities this month, so be sure to pace yourself even before it kicks into high gear! Things may seem all chummy, but before you get swept away with nostalgia, do consider why you’ve drifted apart.
