“Ok... I’m actually in the plain old office with the stuffed toys...”

What I <3 this month: I love scents that aren’t too girly, like Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gioia Eau Fraiche EDT (p. 15).

“I’m in my LaLaLand with my favourite animal friends!”

Love makes the world a happier place for all! Hey cool people, Did you catch The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? It was recently in cinemas and I loved it. I thought it was so cool how Walter, who lives a rather meek and mundane life, always has all these crazy adventures in his head. I’m like that sometimes, so I could totally relate (check out my Ed’s Note pic!).

Can’t say no to dessert! Check out those in Astroscoop (p. 60).

In the movie, most people viewed Walter as a loser, but what I loved was that he always knew better. He never saw himself that way, and was always aware of his strengths and good points. It carried a positive note that you should never let what others say or think get to you. All you need is to believe in yourself and your abilities. All of us have our own paths in life, and you don’t need to live large and swim in cash to feel successful. If you’re happy, that’s all that matters. So while this issue talks about all kinds of love – for friends, family, and that special someone – I thought I’d dedicate this page to you, dear readers, to remind you to love yourself too. You are perfect the way you are, and you have a lot to share with the world, so live happy and shine bright. Cheers,

The prize this month:

In the weeks following, I drew up some business plans and started blogging. Things were slow in the beginning, but since last week, I have gotten many customers through word-of-mouth. It’s a brand new year and I’m so satisfied. I have finally started blogging, which is my dream, and I am going to make it a success.

I’m a reader for about three years and the front cover of the 300 issue is so amazing. I really like how the front cover shines under the light due to the holographic-like material. It’s so eyecatching!!! :D It’s totally worth it and I rushed home immediately to read the magazine. I must say, this issue really impressed me and I can’t wait for future issues of Teenage! The mag has come such a long way. Thank you everyone in the TEENAGE TEAM for putting your time and hard work into Teenage! :D #teenageforthewin! I will continue reading it and checking your website/ twitter for updates. Teenage has always brightened up my day and I will continue loving Teenage! Woohoo :D Lots of love and hugs, Katherlyn

I’m definitely going to use my first pay to reward my beloved parents who shed tears for me while I was in the boys home. And and to show my appreciation to you, I’m going to subscribe to you ‘cos I’m not gonna miss your future copies anymore. Here’s a toast to my blog and Teenage: Good health & have a good 2014! Lean Chua

Hello Teenage, It’s an honour to be reading the most talked about magazine ever. Each section is very fun and full of information. It is very smart of Teenage to interact with its fans. Many thanks to the Teenage team for making this magazine the best one in town. From addicted fans, Haidil & Hafizah

The New Boyfriend Guide So, the two of you finally got together, but you’re not quite sure what to expect! Arm yourself with everything you need to know as you reach each dating milestone. By Chew Hui Ling

48 FEB 2014

Going on your First Date You may be pacing the floor nervously at home, but your guy is probably just as jumpy as you are! Your true personality is one of the things that attracted him to you in the first place, so while you may think you need to be on your best behaviour, we recommend letting your guard down and just being yourself. Also, make sure to choose the right dating spot. Some safe bets: heading to a cafe, amusement park, or ice-skating for some physical contact. Don’t drag the date on for more than a four hours – it’s better to leave him craving for more so he can ask you out a second time!

Hanging out with his Friends It can be a little intimidating when you meet your boyfriend’s best friends. Of course, you will want to make a good first impression and get seal their approval, but there are ways to do it while maintaining your fun-loving self. Don’t be too clingy, he may feel embarrassed when you show too much affection in front of his bros. However, isolating yourself is not the solution either. Try to include yourself in their conversations, but avoid using their lingo, which may irritate them. Try not to be jealous when you see him being more comfortable with his friends than with you. You can always get special treatment in other ways.

Dealing with Awkward Silences There is bound to be times when the both of you are stumped for words to say, especially since it is just the start of your relationship. When that happens, ask about his favourite things, such as music, sports or hobbies. Keep the questions spontaneous, and always remember to smile – you being cheerful will help to calm his nerves. And if you know he’s into something, maybe the guitar, you could ask if he’s willing to play a song or two for you in the future. Who knows, the two of you might end up finding a common interest!

Buying him a gift Can’t deny it’s much tougher to find the perfect gift for a guy than your girlfriends. If you are in the early stages of your relationship, you don’t have to go all out for it. Otherwise, you are familiar with his likes and dislikes, make use of that and get him something he will love. Or if you’re still clueless, you can’t go wrong with a batch of homemade cookies. A small, thoughtful gift is better than grand gestures when you’ve only just started dating.

MAIN Photo: Getty Images

Dinner with your Family A day before the big evening, fill him in on family traditions and rituals just in case he feels out of place. It can be something as trivial as having fruits for desserts after a meal, but telling him beforehand can encourage him to help out in the kitchen. Tell him about the personality quirks of your family members, such as your little brother’s tendency to drag him away for playtime. Your parents will most likely grill him for answers as well, so persuade them to keep the conversation light-hearted over dinner. A gentle reminder to clean up your room, because that’s probably the spot he wishes to see the most!

an argument The lovey-dovey stuff aside, naturally you’re going to have couple squabbles once in a while. When it comes to your first serious fight, both parties usually wait for the other to give in and initiate the making up process. But what happens when no one does? This is just the honeymoon phase and the last thing you’d want is your relationship to go downhill because of silly reasons. Instead of pushing the blame around, a simple “Let’s not fight anymore, can we talk it over?” can easily salvage the situation.

Having your First Kiss Most people doubt their ability to lock lips, but when the time comes, they’ll find it’s not that stressful! Worrying too much about it will cause your kiss to become awkward. If you think a kiss is on its way, keep calm (unless it’s unwanted, then by all means speak up!), relax and enjoy the moment. Boys are usually the ones making the first move, but they have their shy moments too. If he’s shy, go in for a peck on his lips! A first kiss doesn’t have to be like in the movies, keeping it short and sweet gives him a sneak peek of more kisses to come.

Digging into their past It’s natural to feel curious about your partner’s past. But everyone has one or two skeletons in their closets that they prefer to keep hidden, so obsessing over what has happened may not be such a good idea. Are you certain you wish to know how many exes he had? Or the fact that his family members did something dishonourable a couple of years ago? Many couples break up because they feel betrayed by the truth they find out about their significant other. If you know you may not be able to handle the truth, it may be best to look ahead and leave the history behind.

Life advice

DEAR KELLY Dear readers,

As I write this month’s column, the riot

in Little India has come and gone. I believe I

can best bring home my message by sharing with you my experience of a riot that broke out when I was young.

One day in the mid-1960s, an announcement was made over the school’s loudspeaker system: “Girls, pack your bags immediately and go home. A riot has broken out”. Students were terrified. Many thoughts flittered through my mind – what if the fighting moved to Victoria Street, where my secondary school was located? What if I was trapped in fighting on the way home? What if I couldn’t get a bus? Silent, grim-faced teenagers stood in groups at the bus stop. Everyone stared glumly at the passing buses. I prayed for a bus to stop. Unfortunately, they were crowded with office workers coming from stops ahead of us. Bus after bus whizzed by, the drivers looking sadly at the upturned faces of students waving at them. There was just no room for us. After 40 minutes, a green Morris Minor stopped in front of me. There were three pale, tightlipped guys inside – an Indian, a Malay and a Chinese. “Girl,” said the agitated driver, “get

in quickly, I’ll take you home. The buses are overloaded.” When we arrived at my Frankel Estate home, my parents thanked the guys profusely for their kindness. They told my dad they felt safe that we made up the four races in the car, I being a Eurasian. I was especially grateful. Police friends rushed over with rations, as we were a large family. We were warned to stay home, indoors if possible. We prayed for the safety of our policemen friends and others in the frontline trying to establish calm out of chaos. I vividly recall the tension and fear we experienced. Having been witness to death, injuries, havoc and mindless destruction through watching events unfold on our black and white television screen and listening to radio reports, I firmly stand behind the national policy that we should never take our safety for granted. We must promote racial and religious harmony at all cost. On Sunday 8 December 2013, I felt the same sense of anxiety. My prayer was the same: “May our frontline defenders and medical providers be safe.” I added shopkeepers and food and beverage vendors to the list.

I will not comment on the recent riot. I believe we should wait for the official report. Speculation is unhelpful. Suffice to say we must never take our safety and security for granted. As the recent riot demonstrated, violence can erupt anywhere, at any time and quite unexpectedly as many bystanders said.

I would like to take this opportunity to urge all our Teenage readers to make a pledge to be cautious of what they post online. Words may be typed in anger, as a result of being hurt or to take revenge. Some hurt others in the name of “fun”, or out of sheer viciousness. Many are not conscious of the far-reaching effects of what they post. Wild displays of emotion may have negative long-term consequences. Nobody wants this. “But I was angry”, “I was stressed” or “But I was hurt,” are not acceptable excuses. Negative online behaviour patterns must be consciously stamped out. If you get in the habit of being conscious and therefore cautious of how and what you communicate, you will develop discipline, and this will stand you in good stead all your life. It is a habit worth cultivating. This month I highlight a letter from a girl who is very upset at the name-calling she is subjected to daily. Unfortunately, some teens actually consider serious, unrelenting verbal bullying along racial lines “a joke” and say it is “done in fun”. It is not funny to be called names in a derogatory fashion. What if the victim was you? (Refer to Name-calling is Not OK!) In the aftermath of the riot, I am proud to be Singaporean. Of course, there were racial slurs from a few. Such people exist in every society – a pity. But the majority kept their heads, even chiding the racist elements online. Cooler heads prevailed and netizens proved to be mature. Indeed, Singapore appears to have come of age. Dear readers, I was especially moved to read that Singaporeans were donating money to be sent to the family of the accident victim whose death sparked the riot in Little India. Bravo fellow Singaporeans. Always here for you.

Anger management

is not helping Every single day, I quarrel with my mum. This is because I am not studying. Mum beats me and says many negative and hurtful things about me. I can’t find peace at home. My brother says it’s my fault because no matter what mum says, I throw a tantrum. I suffer from mood swings. Why can’t she understand?

I am tempted to leave the house when I get super angry. Even if I visit the school counsellor it doesn’t seem to work. I attend Anger Management sessions but still can’t gain control. Help me Kelly!! :( From: Lack control

Kelly: Since you attend Anger Management sessions, mum should know that you have issues, so she needs to deal with you cautiously and with understanding. This is because you have a recognised problem, so you need help. You need to speak to the people running the session and tell them what you told me. They are the people on the spot and will be able to advise you. Maybe the people running the sessions should have a chat with mum and tell her how you need to be handled at home. You need a private tutor with a background in handling teenagers with your problem. Ask the organisation helping you to recommend a suitable tutor. And… please…

no “leaving the house” regardless of how angry you are. It will be the start of bigger problems. Best wishes.

“I have issues!” I really love your section. I think you do a good job giving advice to teenagers. Right now, I need your help.

1. Computer addiction – I admit I am a computer addict. I can be on the Internet for three to five hours a day. I know this is bad but I can’t stop myself. It is addictive and interferes with my studies. When mum and dad confiscate my laptop, I cry and beg for it to be returned. Sometimes, I would use my phone, but it is small and it takes time processing websites on the Internet. I don’t really like to use the phone. Please help. From: Confused Luce Kelly: You admit to being a computer addict. You must be quite afraid that the computer has taken over your life. Indeed, you should be afraid because your future is at stake. You know this, so you have written to me for some nononsense advice. OK here goes…

64 FEB 2014

First, you must co-operate with your parents. They have every right to confiscate your computer since it rules you. A horrid position to be in! Crying and begging for the return of your computer should not be encouraged. You admit you are addicted so you must have a hand in breaking the habit. Writing to me is an excellent first step. It shows you are serious about getting help. Do the following: 1. Since you admit you can’t control yourself, it’s time to see the school counsellor or contact one of the organisations listed in my column to get professional help. If you have an addiction, as you suspect, you need to exactly follow the advice given. 2. No computer until all your lessons are up-to-date, tests preparation done, project work completed. I suggest you do your work at the school library. Tell your parents that you have decided to take charge of your life. They

will be so proud of you. Until you can exercise self-control, don’t study at home or you will be tempted to go online. 3. Get a Study Buddy so you’ll have someone to study with. You will be less likely to gravitate towards the computer. 4. Being part of a study group might help. You will be engaged in studying with others so the computer will be out of sight. It won’t be easy to kick the addiction, but it can be done with professional assistance and determination. I wish you well.

Name-calling is

Not OK! I am 13-years-old and have just entered secondary school. There is more homework, more subjects to study and things to do these days. These changes are reasons why I find it hard to adapt to secondary school life.

Kelly: It is good you decided to write to me. I want to make one thing clear: Name-calling is not OK. It is one form of bullying. We live in a multi-racial society where different races live peacefully side-by-side.

However, what bothers me more is that my classmates, and even schoolmates, call me names like “Black” and “India”. I get really annoyed when they say such things. What is depressing is that my best friends call me these names too. When I get angry, they say, “It’s a joke”. Don’t my feelings count for anything? There must be a limit.

Our Pledge:

I spend countless nights awake. I can’t sleep because of this situation. I hate going to school nowadays because I know I will have to face this painful situation. I really need a solution. I don’t want my studies to be affected. Thank you for reading my email, Kelly. From: Upset!

We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion… As a proud Singaporean, I am appalled to read what you have written. To be called names is not funny. You are hurt and rightly so. You deserve better. I want you to talk to your parents immediately. Show them this column if it will make it easier. If you cry, it’s OK. Ask your parents to make an appointment to meet the form teacher, principal and school counsellor. Your parents need to inform the school

I am a Procrastinator I am 13. I always leave my work assignments to the last minute. After my friends have completed theirs, I have yet to begin mine. I don’t know what to do. Every time I do my work, I get easily distracted. Help me! From: Procrastinator Kelly: I’m glad you are honest and admit you are a procrastinator. Admitting your problem makes it easier to deal with it. You want to change, that is obvious and this is good. I am proud of you.

Get a Study Buddy? This person could help you stay on track. Working with a friend will help you focus on the homework assignment or project to be done and make studying for tests easier and more interesting. You could quiz each other and have small wagers like giving the “winner” a sweet or a small token. Learning will then be FUN! I hope you will immediately ask someone to be your Study Buddy so you will do well in your lessons by staying on track. Success is my wish for you.

My classmates, and even schoolmates, call me names like “Black” and “India”. Readers, please be on the look out for bullies who make reference to race, colour etc. You have the moral authority to tell these people to desist from name-calling and verbal insults. Make a report to the school authorities if the bullying continues. Never be afraid to do the right thing.

authorities exactly what you told me. I have every confidence the school authorities will deal promptly with this unacceptable situation. No child should lose sleep because of name-calling. Worse is your admission that you now “hate going to school”. Naturally you don’t want your “studies to be affected”. Learning should take place in a warm and welcoming environment safe from any form of harassment. You will get help. Trust in your parents and the school authorities. Hopefully, the school authorities will call the guilty students’ parents in for the meeting. They should be informed about the unacceptable behaviour of their children and both the school and the culprits’ parents should take firm action to ensure that such behaviour doesn’t reoccur. In fact, the school should see that an assembly talk is devoted to rooting out name-calling. If the harassment continues, there might be a need to contact the MOE.

What You Don’t Know About Ma-Te What Makes Dokgo Ma-Te So Irresistible? #1: He can be a klutz! Success Rate

80% Success Rate

100%

#1: His good looks

Sparkles literally (not kidding!) appear on-screen every time Ma-Te makes an entrance. From the neighbourhood policewoman to middle-age fortune-telling clients, almost every woman he meets has swooned over his perfect features.

#2: The army of ladies who would do anything in their power to help him

Seriously, women go out of their way to get Ma-Te out of trouble. And all he has to do is to strike a model-worthy pose, then wait for them to take the bait. One was so smitten; she risked her life to protect him in a car crash!

There is a childlike soul hidden beneath the charming Dokgo Ma-Te we see. Who can forget how adorable he was when he fell sick after waiting in the pouring rain for the Electric Fairy?

#2: He loves eggs!

Yep, those expressions he had when he saw the egg bento feast Bo-Tong cooked for him said it all.

#3: His love for his mum Success Rate

100%

There is no dry eye in the house when he brings this up. In fact, the vulnerability MaTe shows for her passing often helps him break down the defense of strong-minded women. Case-in-point: when he broke into tears mid-way through his dinner with Electric Fairy’s parents.

#3: He has a heart!

Ma-Te may seem manipulative at times, but he is actually a real softie at heart. Evidence? The genuine concern he showed towards Myo-Mi and Yoo-Ra’s predicaments.

#4: His ability to sweep every woman he meets off her feet Success Rate

80%

It is a huge understatement to say that Ma-Te has mastered the art of reading and controlling women’s minds. The first time we are introduced to him, he brushes off his sugar-mummy for implying he is ‘a man who would do anything for monetary gains’. The next thing we know, she’s begging for his forgiveness and throwing a free apartment into the mix. What can we say? The boy knows exactly how to work his magic to get what he wants.

#4: He is secretly in love with Bo-Tong!

He could not be nastier to her in the beginning. Only Bo-Tong will think he is a catch. But as the series progresses, he begins to show signs of attraction to the plain-looking girl he once ignored. FEB 2014

Bring On 2014 For their fourth visit, the Brit-Irish heartthrobs reveal their 2013 reflections, hopes for the new year and their countdown party performance. By Amanda Tan

What was 2013 like for you guys?

to have really long hair, and this year I became like Skrillex! Siva: I don’t actually have any regrets, I’m very happy with myself. I’m a good boy. Nathan: Everything happens for a reason, and I’m a glass-is-always-half-full kind of guy. I’d rather focus on the positives, and we had a really fun year. So what’s the point of looking at things you regret when you could focus on the things that you’re proud of?

Is there anything you’re looking forward to in 2014?

Nathan: The touring. We have an arena tour in the UK. We’re touring around

How does it feel to bring in 2014 with Singapore?

Tom: It’s a different experience. None of us has ever been away from the UK, not as a band anyway, so it’s the first time in four years. The people in Singapore have always been very nice, and we got an amazing welcome at the airport, and we’re hopefully going to give a really good and fun concert!

Is there something that you’d like to say to your fans?

Jay: Thanks for always being so patient. We know that being far away makes it difficult to get one-on-one access, but hopefully, like the way we feel, when it does happen, it makes it more special. You know, it’s not a hundred years ago since we had the Internet. So thanks for your messages. We do read them and we love you to pieces. Happy New Year!

Photo: Universal Music

Max: I’m just thinking about our TV show (The Wanted Life), there were a lot of regrets doing that. But I think 2013 has been a great year for us. We’ve travelled the world and we’ve hardly been home last year, which, in a way, is quite sad. But we had such an amazing experience, and I couldn’t think of a better way to finish 2013 than being here with all of you wonderful people, in a country that we absolutely adore. Jay: I don’t absolutely regret (anything), but I know I felt embarrassed when it happened. Max and I had a night out, and then shaved one half of my head. I used

America and Canada as well, which is going to be really fun. We’re doing songs for the first time off our Word of Mouth album.

5 Reasons We’re Obsessed with Avril Lavigne If you simply cannot wait for the Avril’s return to our shores, join Priscilla Wu as she lists the things we love most about the rock princess.

1

Her awesome personality

Many see her as a tough cookie, but we think it is her candour that makes her endearingly charming. In fact, the Girlfriend singer admits in a recent interview that she is “actually shy around people”. “[During] my first tour, I didn’t really talk onstage. But now I’ve kind of learnt to work a crowd. I’ve played so many shows, it’s been five years, [so] I’ve learned how to talk to an audience.”

2

Her rocker-chick threads

This is a girl who can rock some serious punk-rock getup. But we have seen Avril evolve since her wife-beater and tie days. Her latest self-titled album showcases a more feminine and grown-up side of the 29-year-old – complete with a high-bun, glittery leather suits and a strategicallyplaced teddy bear. “It’s part of growing up. I used to dress in SUPER baggy clothes, door knocker earrings and red lipstick when I was 15. Then as time progressed, I changed and so did my wardrobe.”

3

Avril + hubby Chad Kroeger = A mind – blowing combo

The blissful couple (they tied the knot in mid-2012) is not only inseparable; they ooze undeniable chemistry in their first duet ‘Let Me Go’. We hear that Chad will be in town to perform alongside his wife at her show in Singapore.

4

Her voice

If you have met Avril in person, you would probably know that this petite star is rather soft-spoken. Yet when she steps on stage, her voice elevates above a whisper and turns into one of the most powerful voices you have ever heard.

Her lyrics

Just like most singer-songwriters, Avril’s emotional lyrics stem largely from her past relationships. “They are about what I am experiencing with the whole dating thing, but I’ve really only dated two guys in the past four years. It’s easiest to write songs when I’m either really in love or really mad at a guy. It’s just always best when I’m feeling super-emotional. When I’m going through something that has a big impact on my life, it’s much easier to sing.” Catch Avril Lavigne live at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 15 February. Open to Love

Yen-J returns with a brand new album that is all about love. Priscilla Wu uncovers the pop-jazz prince’s thoughts on celeb relationships and having a surprise marriage.

Just like my first three albums, I wrote and produced the songs by myself. The biggest difference is the new musical direction. [I tried] something very popular lately called dub-step. I wondered what sounds I could produce if I mixed it with ballads. That was how the fusion and creativity came about.

You collaborated with Mayday and Magic Power’s Ting Ting on this album. How did the collaboration start? How does it feel to be working with them?

Working with my boss, Mayday is a dream come true. But at the same time, it can be a little stressful. We recorded the song in their recording studio and we recorded everything simultaneously. This means that if I messed up my part, everyone had to start all over again. So I was very nervous and even practised my guitar parts at home before the recording. When I was there, the Mayday members were very friendly. As for Ting Ting, we recorded the song in my studio and we performed together at an event before that. What left the greatest impression on me was how he drank nonsugary soy milk with bananas (laughs). I started working out later and immediately understood why he ate that.

Are you and A-Shin writing based on your experiences?

I came up with the concept when I was recording the demo. The story is all about myself – I warm up slowly to strangers, so it takes a long time for me to open up to a new friend. A-Shin added some interesting lyrics to the song and I think he is very creative.

80 FEB 2014

So what is your definition of a good soulmate? Do you think you’re one?

I think I am ‘OK’. To be a good partner, you need to have a sense of responsibility and loyalty. The next thing you need to possess is innocence. My fans asked why I chose innocence instead of kindheartedness. I thought about it, and I think girls who are kind tend to be friendly to other guys as well (laughs). But I don’t want her to be mean to others too. So I think innocence will be good.

As a celebrity, do you think it will be hard for you to find a good match?

I think it’s harder to be a good partner if you are a celebrity. You can’t spend a lot of time with your other half and you need to give her a sense of stability because of the nature of your work. I think you need to be a good boyfriend in order to find a good partner.

You recently said you might have a ‘flash marriage’ after hearing about Leehom’s marriage news. Is that true?

I told the reporters that I need to have a partner first before I can have a ‘flash marriage’. But I realise that Leehom is a Taurus and he is born in the Ox year too, so maybe I may do something like that as well. That was what I said, but the reports that came out the next day wrote that I will have a ‘flash marriage’!

Tell us a little about your upcoming concert in Singapore in January. What are you looking forward to and what can your fans expect from it?

It is a musically exciting production. There is a storyline behind the show and we have a great band as well. I will be playing several instruments; even if you don’t know who Yen-J is, it will be a great opportunity to get to know my music.

Photo: Rock Records

Can you tell us about your album, Love x Pi? You wrote most of the lyrics, so what is the inspiration behind the record?

Ready For

New Adventures Show Luo, Mandopop’s top-selling artiste, says he is not concerned about losing the title. Priscilla Wu learns why at his recent press conference in Singapore. You’ve been the bestselling male artiste in Taiwan for four years in a row. Are you worried about losing the title?

Not at all. To be honest, I would not have reached the top of the music charts without the support of my fans. If I am no longer on the charts one day, that would mean they are disappointed with my music. I am really thankful for their support because the Mandopop scene is not doing as well as before, and people prefer to download music online, so a lot of record stores have shut down their businesses. I do not know how technology will progress, but right now, I am not too concerned about how it will be in the future.

You are at the top of your game now. Are you worried that your career will go downhill?

Photo: Sony music

Of course. There will be ups and downs in one’s career. But it is exciting this way. I do not like things to be too peaceful. I have been down for a really long time, so I hope I can stay up for a while longer. I think I can still achieve breakthroughs in a lot of areas like my acting. I still have a lot of goals for myself.

Your albums sold very well, but you seemed to have been missed out at the Golden Melody Awards. Was that a bummer for you? No, I think I have gotten over it. I believe it is more important for my

albums to sell. That is more practical. Getting awards is a way of being recognised by the industry, but the real critics are the consumers. I am happy when I am able to attract people who are not my fans to my music.

Is there anything else in the industry you would like to try?

I think I am doing quite well in songwriting. I wrote an instrumental track for a fashion brand lately; it is something I have never tried before. This can be considered a breakthrough for me.

What plans do you have for 2014?

I will be filming a drama next year. Maybe a movie as well. But you can probably see it after next year.

What type of roles would you like to portray?

I want to try everything, but I am very picky about the scripts that I receive. A lot of scripts sent to me have roles that were quite similar to the ones I portrayed in the past. I wish to try something new.

Would you try an antagonist role?

It has to be a real villain. It needs to be a role that attracts me from the first time I read it. If I’m able to guess how the story ends, I believe the viewers will not enjoy it too.
