Ed's Note LOVING THIS MONTH:

As someone who hasn’t been on a holiday in more than a year,

Wearing colours aren’t usually my thing, but the jewel tones in the new Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette ($88) has gotten me hooked. Packed with 20 gorgeous pigmented shades inspired by the threedimensional hues of an oil slick, the Vice 4 Palette is an amazing companion palette to the Naked series if you want a little colour (and vice) in your makeup arsenal.

Cereal Killer Cafe

139 Brick Lane, London E1 6SB A cafe with 120 varieties of cereal, 30 kinds of milk, 20 toppings to fill your bowl with, and on top of that, a seriously pun-tastic name? We’re pretty much sold. This cerealthemed joint also scores nerd points for its uber-cool facade covered in old cassette tapes and duvet covers of ’90s cartoon characters (btw, you sit on beds instead of chairs!). There’re also plenty of rare finds to take home as memorabilia – frosted flakes lip balms and Cheerios necklaces anyone?

Monmouth Coffee Company

Kaffeewerk Espressionist

You can easily find a whole stretch of coffee shops in London, but this place remains the best. Having been around for 35 years, grabbing a cuppa at Monmouth has since became a ritual for the local crowd. This buzzy caffeine hub attracts a lengthy queue every day, so be prepared to wait at least half an hour if it gets busy. Pick up some whole beans and ground to take home while you’re there!

There’s no better place to get a serious caffeine fix in Frankfurt than Kaffeewerk Espressionist. Situated in one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers (great excuse to do some sightseeing around Tower 185!), this snazzy spot allows you to choose from a top-notch selection of espresso blends, filter coffee and other specialties. But if you’re feeling fancy, you can brew your own gourmet coffee right at the table. Cool or what?

Frenchie to Go

9 Rue du Nil, 75002 Paris If dining at Gregory Marchand’s Frenchie restaurant is way out of your budget, located a stone’s throw away is Frenchie to Go. Nestled along the ‘Little Egypt’ strip of Sentier, this deli-style eatery lets you order some of their sweet treats and fancy sandwiches to go. Pull up a stool at this 15-seater space, or grab a seat at the tranquil benches around the borough.

Little Nap Coffee Stand

5-65-4 Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku Tokyo 151-0053 A charming little gem tucked behind Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, Little Nap serves aromatic coffee in a paper cup so you can sip your brew while going on a morning stroll around this hipster town. It isn’t a ‘coffee stand’ per se, but this shoebox-sized space isn’t really ideal for a long dawdle as well – although you’re always welcomed to stay for a chat with the friendly owner and his fellow baristas.

Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House is where we’d go to for a serene respite amongst the tourism hubbub in Thailand. Sitting on the banks of Mae Kok river, this European-style cafe encourages visitors to take it slow, so you’re totally permitted to spend an entire afternoon there (without being chased out). Plus you can enjoy some R&R at the Chivit Thamma Da Day Spa adjacent to it!

Longtimeago Cafe

No. 9, Lane 21, Section 1, Anhe Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106 Just the mere fact that Longtimeago Cafe is the filming location for Rainie Yang and Chris Wang’s movie, Endless Nights in Aurora, has already made this an attraction of sorts. But this place definitely lives up to its hype, with an endless stream of customers wandering in for its gorgeous storefront and ridiculously cute latte art – just request for your desired design and the baristas will gladly work their magic.

17

Imagine adorable sheep welcoming you at the doorstep. Located near Hongik University at Hongdae, the animal-lovin’ owner at Thanks Nature Cafe brings in a new pair of sheep from a nearby farm twice a year, and patrons are allowed to feed and nuzzle these fluffy cuties while they eat in. The current occupants, Anna and Elsa, have already gone back for the summer, but they’ll be back in the autumn, so you better start planning your itinerary!

Tips

#1 Sheet masks take about 20 to 30 minutes to work. Avoid leaving sheet masks on overnight as they might end up drawing moisture from your skin as they dry out. #2 Use the leftover product in the packaging of your sheet mask as moisturisers for your legs. #3 Pack them along on trips to give your skin a quick pick-me-up without taking up too much space in your luggage.

when skincare

takes a vacation Get your skin ready for your next getaway with the right products for the weather. By arissa ha

You might have your holidays all planned out, but is your skin ready for a change in climate? Whether it’s a skiing trip in Canada, or a foray into the Amazonian rainforest, make sure you pack along the right skincare products to protect your skin against the elements.

Sun Protection

It’s common knowledge to wear sunscreen, especially if you’re going for a beach vacation – but don’t let colder weather fool you into thinking that you won’t get sunburnt during winter. Pack

your sunscreen along even if you’re spending your holidays in a ski resort. Snow reflects the sun’s rays, which means you’re even more susceptible to UV damage (ever heard of a ski tan)? Make sure you load up on sunscreen to prevent awkward tan lines from your ski goggles.

Cream Of The Crop

Gel, lotion, cream, and mousse – the different textures of moisturisers are aplenty and it’ll be good to find out which one will work for you when

plus 36

you’re on holiday. While products that leave a sticky feeling are unpleasant in our hot and humid climate, the same product may be good for dry weather. Moisturisers that stay on the surface of the skin form a protective layer to seal in moisture, leaving your skin hydrated. If you’re not about to shell out money for a new moisturiser just for a trip, we recommend applying a thin layer of Vaseline over your skin at night to prevent it from drying out when you sleep. Otherwise, adding a few drops of

facial oil into your moisturiser would keep the skin dewy and hydrated – but do perform a patch test first just in case the ingredients in the products cause a reaction when mixed together.

EDITOR’S PICK Ettusais Aqua Splash Oil Block, $29

Cleanse Away

When your skin feels tight after washing, it means that your cleanser is too drying for your face – this problem could be magnified further if you travel somewhere during winter. Try using cleansing milk, as it is able to wash skin without stripping away its natural moisture. Use cold water (we know it’s tempting to use hot water in winter!) as heat from warm water may cause your skin to dry out even more.

Celebs

T S 2 B f O e v For The Lo nondescript name aside, B2ST’s eighth mini album Ordinary is an omnipotent concoction for the wistful romantics – needless to say, we’re head over heels over it. By Chew Hui Ling

YeY Listen to it when…

you’re single and ready to mingle.

To say that Junhyung is a hella talented producer would be stating the obvious – the lad’s responsible for many of B2ST’s hits and we wouldn’t expect anything less from ‘YeY’. You won’t see any of their debut roots in this high-octane EDM jam – not when all of ‘em decided to toss their manufactured boyband image out the window and get wasted in a club (this is a good thing BTW, sorta). Crank this up when you’re in need of some post-heartbreak therapy!

66

Listen to it when…

you’re deliriously in love.

A breezy mid-tempo ditty, ‘Gotta Go To Work’ turns the guys into clingy boyfriends who dread leaving their girl behind because of work. This track is practically drenched in fluff, and it’s the type of “I don’t wanna be apart from you for a single moment” (actual lyrics!) sappiness that would be quite a turn-off if it wasn’t for B2ST. But you can’t deny it’s an adorable ditty that you’ll be playing over and over when the love bug bites.

photo: Three Angles Productions

I

t might not seem that way, but our ‘beast-like’ idols have been wearing their hearts on their sleeves all these years. Yet for all its romantic lyrical talk, B2ST’s latest EP Ordinary manages to tackle the topic in surprisingly varied ways. With their Ordinary Fan Meet in Singapore on 24 September coming up, we think it’s about time we have a track-by-track chinwag about it.

Gotta Go To Work

Listen to it when…

Suite Room Listen to it when…

you’re silently watching over your crush.

‘Suite Room’ is a meticulously crafted R&B piece that allows the vocal line’s smooth falsettos to shine. The lyrics play out as a typical K-drama: “I’m not asking for your heart, I know you can’t give it to me, I just don’t wanna see you exhausted because of him”, they sing, offering unconditional comfort to the girl who picked the other guy. Unrequited romance sucks, but stay strong B2ST! #SpareUsFromTheSecondLeadSyndrome

At That Place

you’re determined to win back your old flame.

This song is tailor-made for the stricken lover, agonising about a past romance, yet unable to let go of the memories: “If I could turn back time, I’ll make you happier than anyone else in the world”. It’s an ironically upbeat number though, which makes it perfect to play on a boom box outside a girl’s window to woo her back into your arms. Good luck!

Listen to it when…

Oh Honey Listen to it when…

Cupid strikes you for the first time.

Finally, something a lil’ more hopeful. It’s nice to see a creation from Kikwang, since most of the album is credited to Junhyung and his composing team. ‘Oh Honey’ is the kind of first love fantasy that fills adolescent diaries – a lyrical representation of how you’re attracted to a special someone like bees to honey. Well, obviously “those feelings will go away some day”, but till then – let this be your soundtrack.

Take It

I Think I Love You

you need a wake-up call.

‘Take It’ starts off all poppy, before letting a slightly brooding tune take over. This song gives listeners the gutwrenching reminder that once upon a time, “we were closer than anyone else in the world, now we became strangers as if we don’t know each other”. But there’s no use dwelling if he/she’s gone for good. Who knows, your soulmate might just walk in the door someday!

Listen to it when…

you’re sick of being in a ‘some’ relationship.

To sum it up, a ‘some’ relationship is basically intimacy with no strings attached. And when you’re constantly telling the other party “I think I love you, how about you?” to no avail, it’s gonna get pretty frustrating. Sneakily make the switch to this song when you guys are sharing earbuds with each other – take the hint dude!

Listen to it when…

you need a good cry. Put this album on repeat till B2ST’s Ordinary Fan Meet in Singapore on 24 September at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre! Tickets from $128, www.sistic.com.sg

67

One Day

Probably the most depressing track off the album, ‘One Day’ is a mournful piece that taps into your innermost emotions. The poetic verses alone will instantly turn on the waterworks: “Only the downpour of powdered snow can heal the pain from love, because the memories of our first meeting can never be erased from within my heart”. A must-listen for those ‘ugly cry’ days.

Stine’s (Jack Black) daughter.

Kaulder (Vin Diesel) is now the last warrior of his kind after he was cursed with immortality by the Queen Witch, whom he had slayed centuries ago. The last line of defense against supernatural beings seeking to destroy mankind with a painful plague, Kaulder must work together with his most unexpected ally – a young and beautiful witch. Unbeknownst to him, the Queen Witch has resurrected and is seeking vengeance.

After failed interactions with a reticent Stine, Cooper grows convinced that the former’s “a psychopath” and decides to charge in to save Hannah after hearing her scream in the middle of the night. And accidentally unleashes every ghost and monster that Stine’s ever written about – which he had kept imprisoned within his manuscripts – into the world.

Our Thoughts Hey it’s Vin Diesel carrying a huge gun! Prep for some seriously nerve-wrecking effects, but other than that, we’re not expecting anything too creepy.

Although this flick probably contains the stuff our childhood nightmares were made of, having Jack Black in any movie automatically amps up its comedic factor.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension 29 October

A parent’s worst nightmare, Mike Cole’s (Nicholas Cage) son is inexplicably abducted under his watchful eye during a Halloween carnival in New York City. A year after his son’s mystifying disappearance, Cole is haunted by a string of unearthly messages and unexplainable messages, and is drawn to track down his son at all cost. While doing so, he and estranged wife (Sarah Wayne Callies) unwittingly discover a chain of child abductions by a vengeful spirit that rises each All Hallows’ Eve.

Sticking to the tried-and-true style of found-footage film, this sixth and final instalment to the Paranormal Activity series follows a young family who unwittingly finds a video camera and a box of tapes (of Katie and Kristie from the first film) in the garage of their new home. Supernatural horrors start happening as the family struggles to find out what exactly is going on before all hell inevitably breaks loose.

Our Thoughts

Nic Cage has been known to make the occasional… flop. But we’re pretty sure that this supernatural thriller will be pretty exceptional to say the least.

Adventure

Around The Corner Travelling the world starts from your very own doorstep – here’s how to explore our sunny island, tourist style. By Johanna Teo

1

Follow the MRT map There’s bound to be something interesting near every station, especially since its rapid (lol) expansion around the local nooks and crannies. Be prepared to do a lot of walking, so wear comfy shoes, load up your EZ-Link card and explore away.

2

Eat your heart out We’re known for our awesome food, so going on a food trail should be on your list. Forget cafe-hopping for a moment, and seek out the best hawker fare around.

3

See the world through your lenses Deviate off the usual selfies and/ or peace sign group photos with street photography snaps of your surroundings to best capture your memories.

88

4

Collect the memories Don’t discard whatever you’ve collected from your travels, even if it’s just a ticket stub from a trip to the museum. No matter how mundane, these mementoes will serve as interesting reminders of your explorations around the island.

5

Indulge in Singaporean pastimes Cheap thrills like visiting pasar malams, shopping during the Great Singapore Sale/IT Fairs, queuing up for freebies, or even going prawning with your friends, embody what it’s truly like in Singapore. So try it again, no matter how hipster you’ve grown to become.

The Teenage Team’s places to visit Urban skyline

We have a beautiful night skyline, so go for an evening stroll along the Singapore River, past Merlion and even onto the Helix Bridge. - Arissa Ha, Deputy Editor

7

Seek from the wise

Visit the ulu places

An instant way to view modern Singapore through different eyes is to speak to the older generation about it. Your grandparents – or even the aunty next door – could offer you insights about how it was like back then. If possible, visit their teenage haunts to see what has changed and learn more about how it was like before.

The best spots are usually the inconvenient ones (#JustSaying), so make the effort to visit places like the Punggol Waterway Tree, Gillman Barracks at Alexandra Road, or even the Johor Straits Lighthouse at Raffles Marina. They’re perfect spots for Instagram photos too, so snap away.

8

Revisit the cliche tourist attractions We’re well aware of the must-visit spots – Universal Studios, the Singapore Zoo, various museums… even our beloved Merlion. But chances are, it’s been eons since your last trip. You’d be surprised at how much these attractions have changed over the years so take the time to explore these places, and take loads of photos while you’re at it.

Places like Haw Paw Villa, Kampong Glam, Little India and Chinatown are part of Singapore’s unique heritage. Learn more about our culture by exploring these places! - Chew Hui Ling, Writer

singapore’s cuisine

Visiting old-school coffee shop such as Heap Seng Leong Coffeeshop will show you a glimpse of olden-day Singapore. You’ll never know when these gems will disappear, so try them while you can. - Marshall Ang, Marketing Executive

Nature Trail

From MacRitchie’s Treetop Walk to Labrador Nature Reserve and Coastal Walk, getting in touch with nature is still possible even in our urban jungle so make sure you take in these sights and sounds too. - Johanna Teo, Writer

Late-night activities

Take advantage of Singapore’s low crime rates by indulging in late-night activities, be it singing karaoke, watching a movie, or go overnight cycling with your friends. - Michelle Lim, Designer

10 Things You Need To Know Before You Travel Planning for your next holiday doesn’t start from packing your bags, here are some things you need to take note of before your next vacay. By Arissa Ha

Visa

Passport validity

Most countries require a passport validity of three to six months. Ensure that your passports have a validity of at least six months from your date of travel, and make plans to renew your passport if it doesn’t. Passport renewal usually takes a week to process, but give it two weeks just to be safe.

PAS

SPO

RT

Luckily for Singaporeans, our passports offer visa-free access for up to 90 days in 167 countries. If you are planning for longer holidays, make sure you count the number of days instead of assuming that there are 30 days in a month. Overstaying in a country may get you barred from visiting and will void your existing visa if you have one.

Embassy details

Travel Insurance

Travel mishaps like theft, lost baggage, travel delays and medical expenses can add up to a hefty sum if you don’t have travel insurance. If you are unsure about it, do seek help from your parents – they might have an agent they work with when it comes to regular insurance policies.

In case of emergencies, the Singapore Embassies and Consulates would be able to assist you. Find out the addresses and telephone numbers of the local embassy or consulate and write it down. It’ll prove to be useful especially when you meet with natural disasters, terrorist attacks or when you lose your passport.

National Service

If you are an NSman who is looking to travel for more than 14 days but less than six months, you will need to notify the MINDEF Notification Centre of your travel plans. Even if you’re not enlisted, all Singaporean males between the ages of 13 to 16.5 will need to apply for an Exit Permit if you are travelling for more than three months.

Time zone

Customs and quarantine

In countries like Australia and New Zealand where agriculture contributes to a large part of the country’s GDP, they’re often very cautious about the risk of introducing pests and diseases to their crops. Items like food, plants and even handicrafts made out of wood pose a biosecurity threat so it is best to avoid bringing them. If you are unsure, declare the items and you would not be penalised – your food might end up being tossed but that’s way better than being fined.

Health and vaccination requirements

When visiting a foreign land, be sure to check if there are any health risks involved. It’s recommended to get vaccinated against Yellow Fever and Malaria when visiting countries like Brazil, Peru and Argentina. As there is an incubation period for Yellow Fever, travellers should get themselves vaccinated at least 10 days before they travel – your family doctor should be able to advise on the different vaccinations to get based on your destinations.

Jet lag can be annoying especially when you feel sleepy during the wrong time of the day. Find out the time zone of your destination and make adjustments to your sleep cycle accordingly. If you have the luxury of time before your flight, prep your bio-clock a few days before your departure. Otherwise, melatonin pills can help you fall asleep easier, while a much needed caffeine fix can help perk you up. Knowing what time it is back home can also help you decide when to call your parents – you wouldn’t want to wake them up in the wee hours of the morning would you?

95

Currency

It’s vital to know the local currency used, especially if you don’t own a credit card. Don’t be quick to assume that everywhere in Europe uses Euros as that’s not always the case. For example, UK uses English Pounds while Switzerland uses Swiss Francs. Don’t get caught in a situation where you have to head to a moneychanger overseas and end up losing money due to poor exchange rates. In a situation where you have access to a credit card, do find out your bank’s exchange rates and extra charges to avoid over-spending.

Documents to bring along

Besides your passport, there are other important documents to bring along for your holiday. Ensure that you have your airline tickets (including the booking confirmation for the return leg), hotel confirmation, itinerary, credit cards, driver’s license and International Driving Permit (where applicable). Remember to pack along photocopies of your IC and the passport data page – they’ll be super useful in case you lose your passport overseas.

DearKelly Dear readers, When discussing electronic gadgets,

Steve Jobs said in an interview reported in The INQUISITR –

“We restrict how much new technology our kids use at home.” Have you heard of Chris Anderson? He was the former editor of WIRED. He

sets strict time limits and exercised time control on the use of electronic devices at home. These two guys

knew what they were saying. Jobs didn’t get to be Steve Jobs, tech visionary, by playing electronic games and chatting online. He expanded his mind, spent time thinking and reading and exploring possibilities. We can’t be Steve Jobs but we can aim to be the best that we can be – that demands expanding your mind. I was delighted to read this article. I couldn’t be in better company in my belief that we shouldn’t become slaves to our electronic gadgets. There is a need to study outside your school texts and read extensively!

1

Read – reading opens doors to the storehouse of knowledge.

If you don’t read, you will not develop your potential. Students and professionals need to develop their general knowledge and improve their speaking and writing skills.

Reading should be an integral part of daily life. The news of the world is available online. I read the local papers, The Guardian, Al-jazeera News in English, The New Straits Times, The Star, The Nation, Bangkok Post, Huffington Post and WIRED. When something important happens anywhere in the world, I refer to the local papers of the country concerned to get firsthand news – all online.

Of course, I can only skim all these newspapers to pick up nuggets of useful and important information that I can use in my work and when discussing issues with clients and friends. For you – to

score in the exams and prepare for the future, you must widen your knowledge base. I encourage you to read biographies and autobiographies. The trick is to select the work of someone whose life reflects your interest. Those 16 years and above should read the modern history of Singapore after becoming an independent nation in 1965. Read one of the many books written by our first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew. If you are interested in music, dance, sports, the history of fashion etc. – the library will have a section on the lives of successful people in any field that interests you.

Read about what made them successful. There are many important life lessons to be learnt. My iPad is my companion in that I read books on it and I am delighted that I can highlight passages and send the entire electronic book with notes and comments to clients when asked to evaluate a book, and friends when sharing views and ideas. Now this is sensational! Each of us must aim to be an educated person, not merely a literate one – literate means a person can read and write but is not well-rounded. An educated person is one who is well versed in a variety of disciplines and can comfortably discuss a variety of subjects.

2

Television – if you have yet to discover the joys of reading then I advise Teenage readers to watch BBC, CNN and Channel NewsAsia. This should keep you up-to-date.

110

3

Current trends – just look around you

• Babies in arms are manipulating mobile devices. Parents are using these devices as nannies – possibly a way not to communicate with the kid. This is unfortunate as children learn by looking around them and asking questions.

• Families, couples, friends all sitting together but most glued to their mobile devices – the art of conversation, once prized, may become a dying art. • Visit a museum, art gallery or places

of interest and what do we see? Fingers feverously sending messages or people talking loudly on their mobiles. A classic example was a tour I went on in Cambodia. We had an excellent guide who was a fountain of knowledge but people were whipping out their mobile devices, responding to messages and missing the explanations. As I travel widely, I notice this phenomenon wherever I go. A real pity if this is the future.

4

Interaction – I value face-toface conversations where I

can study body language which is so important when you deal with people. Telephone chats are important as I get to hear the voices of family and friends and I value the laugher and the witty comments delivered by voices I cherish. Steve Jobs knew what he was unleashing on the world. He sent a subtle warning to those astute enough to get the message. Sure, my iPhone and iPad are important but they are tools – they do not take over my life.

Rule your electronic devises – don’t let them rule you. Always here for you.

Ways to avoid early

BG relationships? First of all, I love reading your column and appreciate the advice you give teenagers with concerns like mine. In secondary school, I have to interact with both boys and girls in my co-ed school. I see many platonic and serious BG relationships happening all around me. This worries me. I worry not that I can’t find a boyfriend. I worry that a guy might develop feelings for me and I might return his feelings. I don’t want this to happen. Kelly, what if a guy likes me and wants to go steady? I would feel bad

hurting his feelings by rejecting him. I really hate hurting people so I am kinda torn. I have no plans to get involved in BG relationships in my teens. I only want romantic involvements when I start working. I am not in a romantic situation

Kelly: It is a delight to meet such a levelheaded teen. To be single-minded about lessons before all else when you are in school is a worthy goal. Stick with your plan and you will do well in the exams and go on to be successful without facing distractions. Some people are capable of succeeding despite having a romantic connection but this is very rare. So your decision is a good one. It’s possible that a guy might fall for you, but you hold the power of saying “yes” or “no”. Just because a guy expresses interest in you doesn’t mean you have to accept him. You might meet many guys who are interested in you, but you are not obliged to go steady with them. Platonic friendships are fine.

111

now, but the possibility that it might happen is something I worry about. What should I do if this happens? Should I be straightforward or should I make up excuses? What’s your take on this? From: Thoughtful

You need to associate with both boys and girls in school – this prepares you for interaction in the workplace. Should a guy want more than a platonic friendship, politely say that you are committed to your studies. You have a right to your views. “I would feel bad hurting his feelings by rejecting him. I really hate hurting people so I am kinda torn.” As I said, you are not obliged to get romantic with every guy who makes the moves on you. Chances are when you say “no”, he’ll just move on to another girl. It is not the grand romance of the century. You stick with your excellent decision to put studies before all else. Wishing you every success.

Libra

(23 Sep – 22 Oct)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Libra

You’ve got huge wanderlust plans ahead and nothing’s gonna get in your way – even if it means side hustling alongside your hectic academic calendar. With most of your time earning extra funds, it’s possible that you might just forget all about your studies. It’s not going to be easy balancing everything, but hey, remember what you’re saving up for!

(23 Sep – 22 Oct)

Scorpio

(23 Oct – 21 Nov) October ushers in a fresh chapter in your life, but getting older isn’t exactly the thrill ride you think it’d be. There are changes that you have to embrace and things that will get harder as you age. Now is the time to do everything you’ve ever wanted – take risks, travel the world, weed off all the things that are making you unhappy. A whole new beginning awaits!

Sagittarius

(22 Nov – 21 Dec) Productivity is in your blood this month! Your hard work is finally paying off and you’ll be getting the end result you rightfully deserve. All that’s left for you is to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour. It’s the time of the year when a Sagittarian is the most inspired, so take the chance to heighten your creativity by expanding your skills. You’ll surprise yourself.

Capricorn

Aquarius

(22 Dec – 19 Jan)

(20 Jan – 18 Feb)

People might frown upon you for your many accomplishments, but can you be blamed if opportunities are continuously dropped on your lap? October might invite some unwelcomed jealousy from those around you – there’ll always be someone who will try to pull you down, so stand firm and don’t let ‘em rob you of your success!

Things are rosy for you on the romantic front so far. However, what you might not have noticed is that you’re starting to drift apart from your besties. If your new love’s holding you back from meeting them, it’s important to let the other party understand that he/she isn’t the only priority in your life.

118

Pisces

Aries

(19 Feb – 20 Mar)

(21 Mar – 19 Apr)

It’s second nature for Pisceans to take what people say to heart, but you’ve got to treat every piece of advice with a pinch of salt and not get affected so easily. Some comments may be completely genuine, while others come with ulterior intentions. Don’t worry though, your gut feelings will come in handy in the most unexpected of situations.

You’ve always been a keen social planner, but isn’t it annoying to constantly make the first move? It’s time to speak up and let your pals take the front seat – there has to be some give-and-take to sustain a relationship. But if you bring it up and nothing changes, then perhaps you should consider dropping them off your radar completely. After all, it takes two hands to clap.

Taurus

(20 Apr – 20 May) You have a harmful tendency to succumb to toxic thoughts, which seems to be occurring more often lately. But shutting yourself out from the world isn’t going to make anything better. You might not realise it, but socialising can be an awesome mood-booster when you’re down in the dumps, so dust yourself off, get out there and mingle!

Gemini

Cancer

(21 May – 21 Jun)

(22 Jun – 22 Jul)

The start of October is going to be a rocky one – the beginning of a cycle always is – but take heart, things will definitely look up for you in the later parts. All the unnecessary sources of distress and emotionally draining relationships will be eliminated very soon. You’ll be amazed at how much lighter you’ll feel after cutting out all the negatives in your life.

Hey Cancer, you’re on to big things! You’re learning something new every day and eager to take on greater challenges. Being ambitious is a good trait, but be careful not to let your healthy aspirations become unattainable desires. What’s your ultimate goal? Learn how to focus your drive and allow it to be motivation for you to perform better instead.

Leo

(23 Jul – 22 Aug)

This month’s pretty much a circus for the dutyoriented Leo, but even the ringmaster needs to have a break once in a while. You hate to admit it, but responsibilities just keep piling up and you’re finding it hard to handle everything alone. It doesn’t hurt to ask for help from a trusty confidant, so don’t let pride stand in the way. That’s what friends are for, right?

Virgo

(23 Aug – 22 Sep) So, you’ve just made a life-changing decision and it isn’t really the conventional route that most people choose to take. There’re bound to be folks who will judge you for going against the grain, but never let that be a reason to shrink back from your goal. It doesn’t matter what the rules say – just press on and go after what’s in your heart!
