New DOE Website Shows Fuel Facts Since the release of the all-new electric Chevrolet Volt, a large amount of news attention has been given to the next generation of fuel efficiency in commercial automobiles. But before all the media hype began, Chevrolet had already begun adapting to a new era of commitment to saving their customers money at the pump, and to keeping the planet green. But don’t just trust the Chevy commercials when they say that they are improving the mpg on Chevy models and that they are investing and new and better technologies every year. You can see for yourself at fueleconomy.gov, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, which tracks the fuel efficiency of most every vehicle sold in America. On the website you can compare the new, gas engine Chevrolet Cruze side-by-side to its competition, and see how the car’s mpg stacks up. For example, the EPA recognizes the Cruze as a midsize car, and yet the Cruze’s mpg - which is 26 in the city, 36 on the highway - defeats Ford’s smaller car, the Focus, which falls just short of Cruze at 25/35. With Cruze, customers are given more car for less miles per gallon. Plus, customers have an additional option with Cruze to get the Eco model, which gets an unprecedented 42 mpg on the highway. Fueleconomy.gov also cites the Chevrolet Silverado, in its hybrid edition, as the single most fuel efficient standard pickup truck on the market, defeating offerings from a number of Asian and American auto makers. Chevy also tops the passenger and cargo van categories with the Chevy Express FFV. Customers admire classic Camaros at Payne Chevrolet’s 3rd annual Camaro Day. On Saturday, May 7th, Payne Chevrolet celebrated their 3rd annual Camaro Day on the company’s lot in Springfield, TN. Despite a bit of rain in the afternoon, the turnout was the best that they have seen in all 3 years, according to sales manager Steve Russell. “We love getting involved with and giving back to the community, and this year they really responded back to us,” Russell said. “We’ve seen so many new faces this year, and I can only hope that trend continues for years to come.” Every different era and body style of the Camaro was represented, from the original model from 1967 all the way to the newest addition to the Camaro family, the 2011 convertible edition. Jeff and Tammy Mayes of Greenbrier UP TO brought one of the most talked-about cars of the day - the 2010 Camaro SS coupe that they call MPG “Black Beauty,” which came complete with a

host of trophies from car shows they have entered it in. “We’ve done all the upgrades ourselves. It took probably about 6 months total time,“ Jeff Mayes said. “It won best of show up in St. Louis back in October of last year.” Toronzo Orr of Nashville has yet to enter his yellow 2010 Camaro into any competitions, but he has been working tirelessly to trick it out, buying aftermarket items online or in other cities to get all of the upgrades he wanted. His car received a lot of attention from attendees because of the interior work he has done to it. Jan Wilks has participated in every Payne Camaro show to date, and brought he sons, also Camaro owners, with him this year. He keeps coming back to the Payne Camaro shows for a reason. “It’s just like a rod run we would go to, except it’s more family-oriented,” said Wilks. “It‘s just a good time.” The Payne staff grilled burgers all day for the visitors, with owners Jeff Payne and David Payne even pitching in behind the grill. Due to the incredible reaction from the community for the Camaro Day, Payne Chevrolet is planning a Corvettethemed day for later in the year.
