or more than 1,000 home buyers across the Nashville region, their newly built home’s benefits extend far beyond the front door. Their home helps keep first responders safe, provides
healthy meals to people with medical needs or food insecurity and gives back to the community in other ways. Those 1,000-plus home buyers purchased a home in the past year from Ole South, the largest privately owned home builder in Tennessee. The company is marking that milestone with gifts totaling more than $1 million to nonprofits across the Nashville region. “During the pandemic, Ole South was able to continue building and selling homes and we know others were not as fortunate. We chose to give back to the community through many nonprofit organizations that continue to make a vital difference in these uncertain times,” said John Floyd, president and founder of Ole South. 8

Box 55 supports first responders Giving back to the community might mean providing a cool drink of water, a meal or other services for firefighters and other first responders on the scene of emergency calls. That’s the mission of the Box 55 Association, whose volunteers and specially equipped vehicles arrive regardless of the weather or time of day, primarily in Davidson County. “We respond 24/7, 365,” said Rick Short, the organization’s treasurer.
After the Christmas morning bombing in downtown Nashville, Box 55’s volunteers were on the scene for 17 days. Volunteers from Wilson County assisted. “We served almost 17,000 meals,” said Short. “The tornado a year ago was another long response.” First responders on the scene of an emergency can’t leave for a lunch or dinner break or even to get a drink of water. Private donations enable Box 55 Association to provide essential services that taxpayers would otherwise have to pay for. The organization’s two vehicles are stocked with first-aid supplies, commercial coffee pots, misting fans for cooling, heaters and essentials like water and Gatorade. Last year volunteers responded to a call almost every day. “People who have a heart to give back. That’s what we do. Everything we do and provide is by donations. It’s all about first responders’ health and safety,” said Short.

Food Pharmacy provides healthy meals The Food Pharmacy at Nashville General Hospital will use Ole South’s donation to provide meals for medical patients who otherwise would not have access to healthy foods. The program also provides healthy foods to households experiencing food insecurity. Last year the Food Pharmacy provided more than 200,000 meals. After the March 3 tornado, the Metro Nashville Police Department helped by delivering food that prevented hunger in some devastated Nashville neighborhoods. “If you look from the standpoint that food is medicine, which is what we do, it’s about providing foods that would fit into a recommended diet,” said Vernon Rose, the Food Pharmacy’s executive director. The hospital’s Food Pharmacy makes sure patients have access to fresh produce and other foods appropriate for their medical condition. Someone with high blood pressure might need a low-sodium diet, for example. Patients with food insecurity are given a prescription for certain foods, which they fill at the Food Pharmacy at no cost. Ole South “came to us and said, ‘What do you need?’ They stepped up,” said Rose. “We want a healthier community. We absolutely have to have better access” to nutritious foods, she said. Greenhouse Ministries will use Ole South’s donation to meet a growing need for its services. The Murfreesboro-based nonprofit provides food, clothing and necessities as well as counseling, adult education, housing and job placement assistance.
Nashville General Hospital Foundation
“During COVID, we saw 800 clients who had never sought services before. It was a very tangible impact,” said CEO Phillip Street. Last Thanksgiving, Greenhouse Ministries provided 1,500 meals, three times the number of an ordinary year. Last June, volunteers distributed 2,000 fresh food boxes, he said. “Our mission is to inspire, give hope and change lives,” said Street.

o you prefer walking and biking to sitting in traffi c? Love the hustle and bustle of the city but abhor long commutes? Enjoy taking a spontaneous stroll to a nearby restaurant for dinner and music. If this sounds like you, we suggest you forget life in the ‘burbs and go urban. A growing resurgence in downtown Nashville has brought a wealth of living options to the city’s urban landscape, along with a vibrant community of restaurants, shops and clubs. For urban dwellers, The Gulch in downtown Nashville is the place to be. Properties like Velocity, Terrazzo and Encore offer the ultimate digs for downtown living. And with the tremendous growth this former railroad yard has seen, you can always find something to do here. Of course there’s always music. (It is Music City, after all.) Travel + Leisure
recently cited Nashville as having the #1 “Music Scene” in the country. From Tootsie’s to Mercy Lounge to The Station Inn, downtown music venues offer everything from rock and country to bluegrass and rockabilly. If you’re looking to set up shop, office space downtown is plentiful and growing. Speaking of the office: Did you know that Forbes.com ranks Nashville 10th in the country of “Best Places for Business and Careers”? And sixth among “Best Cities for Jobs”? Plus Business Insider recently took note of Nashville as one of the “13 Hottest American Cities for 2016.” The nod cited Music City as the “new center of the auto and health-care industries,” noting 300- plus health-care companies and more than 30,000 auto industry jobs. The growth, action and entertainment extend to numerous dining and entertainment options down on Lower Broadway and out on West End. Not to mention the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, The Parthenon, Centennial Park, Hillsboro Village… the list goes on.
Davidson
These are just a few of the reasons to consider living in the heart of Music City. One more reason: We’re just so darn nice. But don’t take our word for it. Travel + Leisure’s 2015 survey ranked Nashville #1 on its list of America’s Friendliest Cities.

Incorporate flowers A freshly cut bouquet of flowers is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to breathe life into your bathroom and leave it feeling refreshed. Place flowers, berries or evergreens from your yard in a vase or jar. If you don’t have a yard, grab some discounted bouquets from the grocery store. For longerlasting beauty, use paper or artificial flowers.
Add feet “Make your builder-grade vanity look like a built-in furniture piece with the addition of furniture feet. Measure the height from the floor to bottom of the cabinet, find unfinished ‘bun’ feet online or at the craft store to fit your measurements, then paint them to match your vanity. Pro Tip: Take one of your kitchen drawers with you to the hardware store and a paint expert can mix the exact shade you need.”
Use displays A simple tray containing basic toiletries like soap and hand towels can keep the space from feeling cluttered. Stow unattractive essentials, like brushes, toothpaste and hair dryers in a closed cabinet, drawer or basket.

ashville has long been known for its country music scene, but these days the city draws attention for more than its tunes. National publications are taking note of everything Nashville, from food and fashion to music and more.
meals (Margot Cafe & Bar). And with standout restaurants like Adele’s, The Catbird Seat and Husk, the city is drawing attention from publications like USA Today and Southern Living.
In 2015, Forbes magazine ranked Nashville on its list of “Boom Towns for College Graduates,” and Forbes.com calls Music City one of the “Best Places for Business and Careers.” Time declared the city as “Red Hot” for a burgeoning music business, a diverse and thriving music scene, and our charming ability to live among the stars and leave them alone.
Nashville has even been noticed for one of its delightful Southern charms: its accent. While accents are sometimes the source of jokes and ridicule, Travel + Leisure readers seem to think otherwise. On a list of “America’s Most Charming Accents,” readers ranked Nashville #4. Seems folks love the Nashville drawl, y’all, noting that residents here have “added some city” to their Southern accent.
Some may think of Nashville as a meat-and-three kind of town, but Nashville’s hip food scene is getting noticed. Travel + Leisure lauded the city for offerings as diverse as hot chicken (Prince’s), Mexican popsicles (Las Paletas) and farm-to-table
Nashville’s vibrant music scene is another trait that earns nods. Travel + Leisure recently cited the city as having the #1 “Music Scene” in the country. And with venues like The Bluebird Cafe, 3rd and Lindsley, The Station Inn and Ryman Auditorium, it’s no surprise that Orbitz declared Nashville’s music scene as #4 in the country (right behind NYC, LA and Chicago).
Music City is also a thriving hub for industry; many companies have a long history here. Bridgestone, HCA, BMI, Thomas Nelson Publishing, Louisiana-Pacific and Dollar General all have corporate offices here — a testament to strong business foundations and economic growth.

Healing Home Design How to infuse living spaces with color that feeds the soul Family Features
F
rom experiences to surroundings, the past year has brought a renewed focus on feeding the soul. In an era of overstimulation and information overload, many are finding a new appreciation for living life minimally
but with maximum experiences. That mentality is increasingly evident in all aspects of life, especially with home design and decor. After all, spending more time at home means more time to discover what truly evokes happiness.
approach: vibrant appliances that get noticed. You can find major appliances in a wide range of colors, but if you’re not sure about going that big and bold, many smaller countertop appliances, such as stand mixers and toasters, come in a range of colorful options, too.
At the same time, as the focus on physical and mental wellness heightens, design experts see those trends reflected in a more considered approach to design inspired by color therapy, which makes it possible to create beautiful spaces filled with healing color.
Architecture
With an expertly coordinated color palette, like the Color Collections from HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, colors work in perfect harmony in any combination. Thoughtful use of color is among the most effective design tools for reveal-worthy style in your home.
Appliances In the past, appliances were meant to blend into the décor to be less obvious, albeit essential, elements of a kitchen. A more contemporary
When contemplating where and how to apply color to a space, avoid boxing in your options. Think beyond the traditional wall space when you’re planning ways to change the color in a space; be thoughtful with color and highlight architectural details to elevate the interest and charm in your home. Take a 360-degree immersive color approach, painting the same shade from floor to ceiling and all around to create a mood-boosting lift to a room. To infuse more color and boldness into your space, consider a timeless and elegant shade of red, like HGTV Home by SherwinWilliams’ 2021 Color of the Year. Continued on Page 20 TN Homes

Incorporate Color Like a Pro Balance the boldness of red with soft whites and natural textures Rustic reds and natural wood elements add warmth to a cool backdrop. An invigorating green hue pairs beautifully with brass, copper and rich wood tones. For a soft, monochromatic look that’s full of complexity and dimension, add layers of texture with furnishings in the same color for a 3D color look. bold color onto ceilings for a truly immersive experience. Explore color combinations and get inspired to bring healing design elements into your own home at Hgtvhomebysherwiwillims.com.
This paint color, “Passionate,” is a deeply saturated hue that is daringly rich and invigorates the senses. This bold and empowering red is steeped in history, merging modern design with traditional charm.
Furniture Whether you’re into project pieces you can transform into something new or simply shopping for furnishings that complement your space, be sure to consider how the furniture fits into the overall color scheme. A space isn’t defined by the color of its walls or floors alone. Selecting furniture that fits with the design brings a more cohesive and stylized feel to the room. For example, a desk and bookshelves in pale natural hues can lend warmth to an office with walls painted a cool dynamic blue.
Cabinets Painted cabinets are on-trend, and if you’re bored with basic whites and grays, you’re not alone. Designers are going bold in the kitchen and using cabinetry as a showpiece. These color palettes create inspiring spaces that invite you to get busy baking or simply pull up a chair and linger over a cup of coffee.
palette together, consider using a collection that has been intentionally curated to mix and match shades for a perfect look no matter which hues you choose. You can easily achieve a new look with an option like the Delightfully Daring Color Collection from HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams. With earthy tones inspired by nature and a dose of vibrancy, the shades are simultaneously energizing and calming. The palette makes it easy to introduce statement colors in unexpected ways so you can feel confident in your selections.
Textiles Elements like window treatments, blankets, pillows and rugs lend important detail and character to a room, and they’re also a relatively affordable way to make noticeable changes. The key is to establish cohesion in the space so no one element is overpowering. Softer tones and natural textures can help bring balance to bold hues while vibrant shades create a colorful pop against a more neutral backdrop. To keep the balance, start with your color statement, whether it’s bold bedding in an otherwise neutral bedroom or softer shades in the accent pieces for a room with strong color applied to the decorative molding.

ith one of the top high schools in the state, a mass transit plan in the works and a wealth of recreational opportunities, Sumner County has plenty to brag about. This area just northeast of Nashville offers a quality of life that many new-home buyers find attractive. Residents here enjoy the hometown feel of cities like Gallatin and Hendersonville but appreciate the nearby big-city perks of Nashville. The county’s largest city, Hendersonville, is home to Merrol Hyde Magnet School, named the fourth best high school in Tennessee in U.S. News & World Report’s most recent ranking of America’s Best High Schools. Gallatin - the county seat) is home to Volunteer State Community College, a public two-year college that offers associate degrees, certificates and continuing education opportunities. With more than 70 academic programs and classes
offered on site and online, Vol State is an educational and economic asset to Sumner County and the entire region. The Gallatin area is a sportsman’s paradise; fishing and boating opportunities abound along the county’s many miles of shoreline on Old Hickory Lake, and lakefront or golf course homes are plentiful at communities like Fairvue Plantation. Hendersonville has an extensive system of greenway biking and walking trails with plans to expand its bike trail system. Several golf courses dot the county, including Country Hills Golf Course and Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club - both in Hendersonville), and The Club at Fairvue Plantation and Long Hollow Golf Course - both in Gallatin). The Greensboro North Park & Ride lot in Gallatin is making life easier for Sumner County commuters, with the Regional Transit Authority’s Gallatin Express bus not only easing the commute for those who ride the bus but also reducing traffic for those who drive. Through careful planning and sustained economic growth, Sumner County continues to build on its existing assets, which helps it attract more workers, more residents and more business. It’s easy to see why home buyers and builders find this an appealing place to live, work, play and do business.

esidents of Rutherford County have the benefi t of urban conveniences along with the pastoral beauty of the countryside. Attracted by affordable housing, good schools and job opportunities, residents here enjoy a variety of cultural, educational and recreational opportunities. Rutherford County continues to receive national recognition for the quality of life it offers. Forbes magazine recently ranked the Nashville/Davidson County- MurfreesboroFranklin area fourth on its list of “Best Cities for Jobs,” and in 2015 Murfreesboro ranked 11th on Wallet Hub’s list of Fastest Growing Cities. Murfreesboro, the county’s largest city, is the geographic center of the state. Higher education is easily accessible at Middle Tennessee State University and the Tennessee Technology Center at Murfreesboro. And there are a host
of historic, cultural and educational sites here, including the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring, Stones River National Battlefield and the Sam Davis Home. Home buyers can find small-town luxury at Murfreesboro’s Wynthrope Hall, while townhomes and spacious single-family homes are available at Evergreen Farms. Affordable new singlefamily homes are found just south of the city at Buchanan Estates in the Christiana community. Located just outside of Murfreesboro is the city of Smyrna, an area exploding with retail and business development complemented by affordable quality housing. Colonial Town Park shopping center includes retail establishments like Kohl’s and a Super Target. Smyrna offers opportunities for higher education at its branch center for Motlow State Community College (based in Lynchburg). Just minutes away in La Vergne — which made NerdWallet’s list of 10 Best Cities for African-Americans — sits the state’s largest industrial park. La Vergne is also home to the headquarters of several big businesses, including Ingram Books and Bridgestone/Firestone.

Quick
deodorizing hacks If your home doesn’t smell very fresh, here are three quick deodorizing hacks from Good Housekeeping:
Car deodorizer on vent. Need your house to smell better in a pinch? Clip a deodorizer made for a car air vent onto the metal slats of a vent in your home. Air will blow through, carrying the scent into the room.
Use dryer sheets. These aren’t just for laundry! Try placing a few dryer sheets around your home, like in closets and dressers. Soon, these areas that usually smell musty will have a freshly laundered scent.
Freshen rugs and carpet. Sprinkle baking soda over carpets and let sit for a few hours before vacuuming. The same method works for pet beds and mattresses, if you want to tackle other pain points in your house. More Content Now

hether you’re strolling downtown Franklin, dining in Cool Springs, shopping at The Factory or looking for antiques in Leiper’s Fork, you’ll find that Williamson County supports diverse lifestyles and offers a wealth of housing options. From Franklin’s Westhaven community, which features a walkable design with retail establishments located in the neighborhood, to the rural setting of Winterset Woods in Nolensville, you’ll find plenty of new homes to choose from. And whether you choose a larger city like Franklin (the county seat) or one of the smaller communities like Arrington or Fairview, you’ll find housing and amenities in a variety of styles and price ranges. It’s hard to decide whether Franklin is a big city with a small-town feel or a small town with big-city advantages. CoolSprings Galleria and its surrounding business district serve
a variety of consumer needs — from dining to furniture, housewares to clothing and more. The Crossings in nearby Spring Hill features tenants like Target, Kirkland’s, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. If you prefer the rural life, head to the pastoral paradise of Thompson’s Station, located just minutes from downtown Franklin and not that far from downtown Nashville. In nearby Nolensville, you can stop in at the new Nolensville Farmers Market for fresh produce, flowers, homemade foods and more. Williamson County is home to businesses large and small, from home-owned enterprises like Yarrow Acres and McCreary’s Irish Pub to national headquarters for companies like Nissan, Tractor Supply and Mars Petcare. Small wonder, then, that Bloomberg ranked the Nashville area (including Franklin and Murfreesboro) as number eight on its list of Top 10 American Boomtowns (based on population growth and growth in gross domestic product). According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, last year Williamson was the #1 county on the list of Fastest Growing Job Markets in the U.S., and Backgroundcheck.org ranked the cities of Brentwood (#1) Franklin (#3) and Spring Hill (#5) among the Safest Cities in Tennessee. With small-town charm, major employers and a healthy economic climate, if you’re looking for good country living in a growing and thriving community, Williamson County could be just the place.

f you’re looking to settle in an area where you can enjoy small-town values with big-city benefits nearby, Wilson County is a wise choice. Whether you choose the county seat of Lebanon with its quaint city square, Mt. Juliet with its easy access to Nashville or Watertown and its rural charm, Wilson County offers a place where education is valued and the county fair is the event of the year. Business is booming here, which is a testament to the friendly business climate. No doubt that business-friendly attitude played a part in the growth of the Providence community in Mt. Juliet, which is adding Providence Central, a mixed-use community of housing, retail and office space. Wilson County has also been making strides in expanding and upgrading the county’s schools. The county commission approved a $63-million school building plan that paid for a new high school in Watertown (which opened in 2014) and brought expansions at West
Wilson Middle School and West and Rutland elementary schools. In recent years the county has added Winfree Bryant Middle School in Lebanon (2011), Lebanon High School (2012) and a high school in Mt. Juliet (2008). Other signs of growth include the Highway 109 bridge joining Wilson and Sumner counties. Completed in 2014, the $29.5 million four-lane structure, replaced an old two-lane bridge from the 1950s. Leaders in both counties say the bridge will provide an economic boost for their communities. Rail transportation is set to expand in Lebanon with a new stop on the Music City Star line. The award of a $1.6-million grant will help fund the proposed rail station at Hamilton Springs, making it Middle Tennessee’s first mixed-use development designed around a train station. The Lebanon Planning Commission approved the site plan for the train stop last year. Hamilton Springs will be the seventh station on the Music City Star line. But it’s not all growth and business in Wilson County. People here also know how to have fun. Take their pride in producing a top-notch county fair. According to Carnival Warehouse, based on attendance and other attributes, the Wilson County Fair ranks among the top 50 fairs in North America. From pride in a county fair to savvy business and civic leaders who promote a healthy business climate, there are many reasons to love and live in Wilson County.

“Saving money is more than just putting spare change into a coffee can, or simply ordering takeout less often.” – Jeff Schroeder VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF PRODUCT OFFICER, MERCURY INSURANCE
MORTGAGE M ATTER S
4 ways to protect your finances and investments in 2021 Brandpoint
Finances are consistently a top concern for many Americans, with “saving money” a top-10 most common New Year’s resolution. This year, Americans are more concerned than ever before due to the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic. USE Credit Union reported that more than 75% of non-transactional calls received since the start of the pandemic were from members concerned about their financial future, citing economic hardship as the primary reason for concern. The economy and job market remain in a state of constant flux, which is causing many families to worry about their ability to pay an unexpected bill, continue to pay off student loans, mortgages or credit card debt, or save money for the future. “Saving money is more than just putting spare change into a coffee can, or simply ordering takeout less often,” said Jeff Schroeder, vice president and chief product officer at Mercury Insurance. “Sure, those things can add up over time, but people may find that their greatest savings can come from
taking a look at the necessary expenses they pay for every month, such as insurance.” Schroeder recommends these four tips to help protect your finances in the coming year: 1) Check your auto insurance coverages. There’s no reason to pay for more coverage than you need, but being underinsured can leave you exposed. “The cost of repairs after a collision has grown in recent years, both as a result of more crossovers and SUVs on the road, and more technologically advanced vehicles,” said Schroeder. “Beyond paying for more expensive repairs if your insurance doesn’t cover it, if you’re underinsured, you may also be responsible for paying out of pocket for medical bills, which could potentially devastate savings for a down payment on a house, your child’s college tuition or a future vacation. It’s vitally important to make sure you have the right amount of auto insurance coverage to protect against unforeseen events.”
2) Know what your homeowners insurance covers. First and foremost, be sure to read your homeowners insurance policy so you’re clear about what it does and doesn’t cover. It’s a good idea to check in with your insurance agent each year to ensure you have adequate coverage, especially if you’ve made renovations, own collectible or valuable items, or live in an area that’s prone to flooding or earthquakes, as standard homeowners insurance policies typically don’t cover these situations. Also, maintain a home inventory to make sure to have an accurate record of your belongings and property. 3) Be aware of potential gaps in coverage. A standard homeowners insurance policy often doesn’t cover mechanical failures to your home’s appliances, HVAC or other essential systems, nor does it cover a break to service lines on your property that supply your home with electricity, gas or sewer functions. In either of these scenarios, this means you would be responsible for writing a big check to a repair company or having to purchase a pricy replacement. However, adding home systems protection and service line protection endorsements can help provide coverage for costly repairs and replacements, saving money and your peace of mind. Pennies spent now can save you thousands of dollars later. 4) Regularly shop for the best coverage and price. Insurance prices can vary significantly from company to company, so it’s a good idea to take a few minutes to see if you’re getting a good deal. Shop around at least once a year - making sure to look for the exact same coverage limits - to see if you can find a more affordable rate. The most effective way to make sure your finances are minimally impacted by insurance costs in 2021 is to speak to an independent insurance agent. They can help make sure you have the proper amount and type of coverage to keep yourself, your family and property protected. TN Homes

T
he pace of life may move a bit slower in Robertson County, but that hasn’t slowed the wheels of economic growth in this rural outpost located just north of Nashville. But don’t let that growth concern you. County leaders here are working on a carefully thoughtout plan for development. The plan’s goal: preserve the county’s agricultural economy and quality of
life while attracting businesses and jobs to designated growth areas, mostly within the county’s existing city centers. The county’s proposed 2040 Comprehensive Growth Plan calls for school improvements, road improvements and more diverse housing options. Other goals include retaining and creating jobs, adding more higher-paying jobs and attracting a diverse population and workforce. Johnson Electric and Martinrea Fabco also call this area home. In addition to the growing economic picture in Robertson County, there’s also the way of life that residents are determined to maintain. From local treasures like Burdett’s Tea Shop & Trading Company to the Shade Tree Farm (where you pick your own apples), don’t expect the pace of life here to change anytime soon.

f you’re looking for peaceful country living just a stone’s throw from the city, look at Cheatham County. With wooded hillsides, open farmland, and scenic rivers and lakes, the area offers an attractive setting. The communities of Kingston Springs, Pegram, Pleasant View and Ashland City offer a neighborly feel despite the county’s rapid expansion. Whether in a suburban or rural setting, residents here have the best of both worlds: a serene environment with easy access to city life and jobs.
Pegram is a great place to raise a family. The town has its own special treasures. Popular places include Finch’s Country Store and Mud Puddle Pottery Studio (which offers pottery workshops and classes). The county seat of Ashland City sits on the bank of the Cumberland River. The city’s award-winning parks and recreation program earned the Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award for its conservation efforts involved with the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail. Under the guidance of Renaissance Ashland City, planners are working to carefully preserve the city’s heritage while embracing the benefits of progress.

You put a lot of care into curating your bedroom, but these days, it may look more like a gym or an office than your sleep sanctuary. In fact, Stanford News points to several nationwide surveys, which found that more than half of Americans now working from home are doing so from their bedrooms. To help reclaim your bedroom as a place designed for sleep, Joy Cho and Corey Damen Jenkins, interior design experts who work with Stearns & Foster - a luxury mattress company known for handcrafted style and comfort - have identified the following design tips and trends to inspire your bedroom design and help you get the sleep sanctuary of your dreams.
Relax with color
generations and items picked up from travel or found at a vintage market. “Pieces that are collected and well-worn add meaning and therefore end up looking much more intentional and thoughtful,” affirms Cho.
For a fun and easy weekend project, Cho - founder and creative director of the lifestyle brand and design studio, Oh Joy! recommends adding a fresh coat of paint to give new life to your bedroom space. Consider painting an accent wall behind your bed, choosing a color that ties into other areas of the room using accessories, throw pillows or art.
“Nightstands will always be both in vogue and in need for the bedroom,” says Damen Jenkins. There are countless options to match your personal style and he encourages people to “think beyond the box,” especially in smaller spaces, as unusual alternatives such as a martini table can sometimes fit a space better than a traditional nightstand.
Often, people assume they need to start from scratch and then feel overwhelmed while making their bedroom seem more inviting and cozy. Instead, Cho encourages thinking about color like layers - adding pops of a varying shade in small areas or using easily changeable items. Start with a limited color palette and utilize patterns to add depth to your space.
Find your new home.
Love the house. Know the neighborhood.
“The proper color palette is essential for creating the best sleeping sanctuary,” states Corey Damen Jenkins, the nationally acclaimed interior designer behind Corey Damen Jenkins & Associates. “Certain color combinations may seem amazing in theory, but in application, disrupt sleeping patterns. Everyone is different, so it’s important to know what works for you.”
Make it personal Decorate using objects with stories to tell, such as heirlooms passed down between
While the right décor is important for creating a cozy and inviting space while you are awake, both Damen Jenkins and Cho encourage their clients to invest in top-quality bedding and mattresses to make the biggest difference to your sleep and comfort. Both recommend high end, handcrafted mattresses for an upgraded sleep experience. The certified Master Craftsmen at Stearns & Foster design and handcraft every mattress using plush memory foam and patented, supportive coils - all wrapped in a navy blue velvet border to provide the most luxurious night’s sleep for years to come. Additionally, Cho recommends soft textures for every layer - from your mattress to your duvet cover, comforter and sheets. Cozy bedding looks and feels luxurious, and when paired with a high-quality mattress, is both classic and made to stand the test of time.
