A liqueur is an alcoholic drink composed of distilled spirits and additional flavorings such as sugar, fruits, herbs, and spices. In some parts of the United States and Canada, liqueurs may be referred to as cordials, or schnapps. This can cause confusion as in the United Kingdom a cordial would refer to a non-alcoholic concentrated fruit syrup, Liqueurs are historical descendants of herbal typically diluted to taste and consumed as a medicines. They were made in Italy as early non-carbonated soft drink. as the 13th century, often prepared by monks (for example, Chartreuse). Today they are Schnapps, on the other hand, can refer to any produced the world over, commonly served distilled beverage in Germany and aquavit in neat, over ice, with coffee, in cocktails, and Scandinavian countries. used in cooking. Often served with or after dessert, they are typically heavily sweetened and un-aged beyond a resting period during production, when necessary, for their flavors to mingle.
The French word liqueur is derived from the Latin liquifacere, which means “to dissolve. 14 | TEQUILA & SPIRITS MAGAZINE

In the United States and Canada, where spirits are often called “liquor”, there is often confusion discerning between liqueurs and liquors, due to the many different types of flavored spirits that are available today (e.g., flavored vodka). Liqueurs generally contain a lower alcohol content (15–30% ABV) than spirits and it has sweetener mixed, while some can have an ABV as high as 55%. Some liqueurs are prepared by infusing certain woods, fruits, or flowers in either water or alcohol and adding sugar or other items. Others are distilled from aromatic or flavoring agents. Anise and Rakı liqueurs have the property of turning from transparent to cloudy when added to water: the oil of anise remains in solution in the presence of a high concentration of alcohol, but crystallizes when the alcohol concentration is reduced; this is known as the ouzo effect. Liqueurs are sometimes mixed into cocktails to provide flavor.

??? ?? ? What kind of alcohol is liqueur?
Technically, liqueurs are liquor because they are distilled spirits. The general difference is that liqueurs are sweetened spirits with various flavors, oils, and extracts added; rum, whiskey, brandy, and other liquors can serve as a base spirit for liqueurs.
What is difference between liquor and liqueur? Liquor- Liquor is simply the name used to describe any distilled beverage. ... LiqueurWhile liquor has a strong flavor to it that is anything but sweet, liqueur on the other hand is sweet by nature. In fact, this term is used to describe these sweetened spirits that are made with different flavors and extracts.
Can liqueur get you drunk? Also, most liquors are usually 35% alcohol per volume whereas liqueur is less than 35%. ... As much as they have a gross taste since they have no added sugar, they will get you drunk quickly.
Is flavored vodka a liqueur? They are distinct from liqueurs in that liqueurs have a large sugar content and may also contain glycerine. Flavored liquors may have a base of vodka or white rum, both of which have little taste of their own, or they may have a tequila or brandy base. ... There are many cinnamon-infused liquors on the market.

What can I mix with liqueur? Since liqueurs typically burst with flavor, you don’t have to use a lot of liquid to get a great taste. Use a liqueur right, and it can can provide a pop of flavor and proof without overdoing it. Here are nine fantastic liqueurs you can mix into your soda, seltzer, tea, milk, coffee, hot chocolate, kombucha, Gatorade.
Can you drink liqueur straight? One of the biggest benefits of liqueurs is how versatile they are. Like many spirits, liqueurs can be used in mixed drinks, served neat, over ice, with coffee or mixed with other non-alcoholic beverages such as cream or milk.
20 | TEQUILA & SPIRITS MAGAZINE
Does liqueur go bad? Although the alcohol content keeps the cream or fruit or herbs from spoiling quickly, the liqueur does have a limited shelf life once opened. ... Although there’s no guarantee, liqueurs like curacao and schnapps likely will last a few years once they’re opened, depending how much air is in the bottle.
Do liqueurs need to be refrigerated? There’s no need to refrigerate or freeze hard liquor whether it’s still sealed or already opened. Hard liquors like vodka, rum, tequila, and whiskey; most liqueurs, including Campari, St. Germain, Cointreau, and Pimm’s; and bitters are perfectly safe to store at room temperature.

BEIRÃO

Italian motorsport engineering triumphs again. The hi-tech, ultra-light Carbon Fiber Monocoque was developed to make the MC20 stronger, faster, safer and dynamically phenomenal thanks to its high torsional and bending stiffness.
In the driver’s seat, nothing distracts from the sporty experience. Essentials-only interior - each component serves a practical purpose. Inspired by luxury watches, the precious mechanical drive mode selector graces the Carbon Fiber central tunnel, reminding everyone onboard they are in a Maserati.
32 | TEQUILA & SPIRITS MAGAZINE
The upcoming MC20 is a mid-engine reminder that Maserati exists. Rather than a successor to the ultrarare, hyperexpensive MC12, the MC20 is a run-of-the-mill six-figure Italian sports car offered in both coupe and convertible forms. Maserati promises that the MC20 marks the start of a new phase in the brand’s history, which it desperately needs if its vehicles are going to be relevant again. Maserati recently released technical details about the MC20’s twin-turbo V-6 engine, which will produce 621 horsepower.
Electronic Limited-Slip Differential Never limit the fun you can have, smoothly shoot out of every corner. The MC20 DCT 8-Speed Gearbox comes with Mechanical (standard) or Electronic (optional) Limited-Slip Differential to help you get its insane amount of power to the road without leaving a cloud of tire smoke behind you. (Always drive within your ability and experience level and consistent with conditions.)

The aerodynamics of the MC20 have been developed with the most advanced engineering techniques and with an obsession over every single detail, even the underbody. Computational Fluid Dynamics, small, full scale wind tunnel experiments, have been deployed to optimize every detail to increase the downforce coefficient and keep the drag coefficient low. Aerodynamic elements - like the air vents, the side air intakes or the rear spoiler – are harmonized with the elegant lines of the body, while the lower part is mainly technical, defined by the black and carbon color. Thermal management and the underbody with its “Hump” shape have also been extensively studied to guarantee maximum aerodynamic efficiency. TEQUILAANDSPIRITS.COM | 35
THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF WINE 36 | TEQUILA & SPIRITS MAGAZINE
Epidemiologic studies from numerous disparate populations reveal that individuals with the habit of daily moderate wine consumption enjoy significant reductions in all-cause and particularly cardiovascular mortality when compared with individuals who abstain or who drink alcohol to excess. Researchers are working to explain this observation in molecular and nutritional terms. Moderate ethanol intake from any type of beverage improves lipoprotein metabolism and lowers cardiovascular mortality risk. The question now is whether wine, particularly red wine with its abundant content of phenolic acids and polyphenols, confers additional health benefits.

Discovering the nutritional properties of wine is a challenging task, which requires that the biological actions and bioavailability of the >200 individual phenolic compounds be documented and interpreted within the societal factors that stratify wine consumption and the myriad effects of alcohol alone. Further challenge arises because the health benefits of wine address the prevention of slowly developing diseases for which validated biomarkers are rare.
Thus, although the benefits of the polyphenols from fruits and vegetables are increasingly accepted, consensus on wine is developing more slowly. Scientific research has demonstrated that the molecules present in grapes and in wine alter cellular metabolism and signaling, which is consistent mechanistically with reducing arterial disease.
Future research must address specific mechanisms both of alcohol and of polyphenolic action and develop biomarkers of their role in disease prevention in individuals.

C A V I A R Caviar was originally harvested by Russian and Persian fishermen in the Caspian Sea. The term refers to unfertilized salt-cured fish eggs from different species of sturgeon, including Ossetra, Sevruga and Beluga. Just about all 26 species of sturgeon have been used for caviar. Caviar is unfertilized eggs—also known as roe—that are harvested exclusively from the sturgeon family of fish and then salt-cured. Caviar (also known as caviare; from Persian: romanized: khâvyâr, lit. ‘egg-bearing’) is a food consisting of salt-cured roe of the family Acipenseridae. Caviar is considered a delicacy and is eaten as a garnish or a spread. Traditionally, the term caviar refers only to roe from wild sturgeon in the Caspian Sea and Black Sea (Beluga, Ossetra and Sevruga caviars). Depending on the country, caviar may also be used to describe the roe of other species of sturgeon or other fish such as salmon, steelhead, trout, lumpfish, whitefish or carp. According to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, roe from any fish not belonging to the Acipenseriformes order (including Acipenseridae, or sturgeon sensu stricto, and Polyodontidae or paddlefish) are not caviar, but “substitutes of caviar.” This position is also adopted by the Convention on
