I
hope everyone had a great New Year. This is one of my favorite celebrations. You have the opportunity to start fresh and new. What were your New Year resolutions? I am sure the gym is packed and health businesses love this month. Unfortunately, most of us do not stick to them. I think we have a lack of commitment in all aspects of our lives. We tend to quit quite easily when times get tough. Many people give up on themselves on others and their lives. It is hard to see it but we have so many pressures from all different angles that we forget about ourselves and others. Make sure that your resolutions were ones that make you happy and help you grow as a person. Don’t give up, when things get tough, try harder. TEQUILA Magazine believes in you and all your dreams. Valentine’s Day is around the corner and soon there will be love in the air. This Valentine’s Day try to seek out those who do not have anyone; family or loved ones. Look for people that are lonely. Talk to the kid in the corner who you always ignore in
class or the man at work who keeps to himself. You never know what kind of impact you will have on their lives. You just might make a difference to them. Simple acts of kindness go a long way when you seldom receive any. Spread the joy of love not just to that special someone but to all those around you.
I give you a new commandment that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. (John 13: 34) We hope everyone enjoys our first English version of the magazine. Happy New Year and Happy Valentine’s Day, XOXO

What Your Body Language Says in Your Interviews
by Heather Eagar
Did you know that the way you sit, smile and shake hands can speak volumes during a job interview? It’s true. There is no manual to read to determine how you should manage your body language; however, if you make certain gestures, you’re definitely sending a certain message.
So how can you know what message you’re sending with the body language you’re using? Here is a quick guide to give you some ideas of what you’re saying with your gestures.
Crossing Your Legs While crossing your legs during an interview seems to be a polite and professional gesture, some experts beg to differ. In fact, this action actually sends a message of complacency, which is not what you want to communicate to your interviewer. This is why it is advised that you instead plant both feet firmly on the floor. It demonstrates 6
confidence in who you are.
Cracking Your Knuckles If you have body tics, like cracking the joints in your neck or fingers, it may betray your nerves. While you want to show humility in your interview, you never want to let them see you sweat. However, if you’re busy nurturing nervous tics like twirling your hair or fiddling with your cufflinks, you may show more nervousness than intended. If you know that this is a potential issue for you, it’s good to practice sitting in the interview without making nervous gestures. You can make sure to clasp your hands so you don’t allow them to move around. This may help you keep your nervous tendency under control.
sends a message that you’re closing yourself off from the person you’re communicating with? This means, if you fold your arms in an interview, you’re sending the interviewer the message that you’re not inviting him or her in. In other words, you can appear to be an unfriendly person, which could potentially X you out of the job.
Leaning Back in Your Chair When in an interview, it’s not a good idea to lean back in your chair. This gives the impression that you’re overly relaxed and disinterested in the job. It can also make you appear untidy. To remedy this, sit a little bit forward in your chair. This helps you present yourself as alert and eager to answer any questions thrown your way.
Folding Your Arms
Invading the Interviewer’s Space
Did you know that folding your arms in any situation
If you’re the friendly type, you may be unaware if you

ever invade an interviewer’s space; however, doing so should be avoided. An example would be if you are sitting on the other side of the interviewer’s desk then stretch your hands or body over the desk. Since this desk is a personal space for the interviewer, you don’t want to invade this space. If you do, you could come across as unprofessional and disrespectful. There are many other gestures that you may subconsciously make that create a strong message. If you’re not sure of your own mannerisms, you can set up a mock interview and either have a friend tell you about your body language, or videotape it and play it back. The more you’re aware of the message you’re sending, the more you can improve your interviewing skills. All our main plates are served with white rice, black beans and sweet fried plantains or your choice of two side dishes from our menu. The Restaurant has a fresh touch for the interior design, trying to recreate a feeling that you are in the 1900’s in Havana, Cuba. The owners’ dream is that you will feel special in this warm, comfortable, and inviting restaurant. The
dining room has beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, which accents the antique scenes on the wall. Different kinds of Cuban art pictures are everywhere as well as a unique Havana mural that makes you think you are right there by the malecon (Havana sea wall). The owners have been trying to picture every detail so between the music, ambience and décor you won’t realize you are in Charlotte, you will think that you are in this beautiful island. An island that many people from all over the world enjoyed a long time ago and was even one the favorites destination for Ernest Hemingway. He used to visit Havana just to taste the unique and authentic Mojitos and Daiquiris made at La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana a popular Bar that still looks the same. At A Piece of Havana our signature dishes, our daily specials and our homemade desserts are made to order. The food is as good as the service that you will receive from our wait staff. The main goal for A Piece of Havana is to demostrate that service has to be accompanied by the professionalism of management and staff, which includes waiters, servers, bartenders, cooks, host/hostesses and administration. This is the backbone to be a successful restaurant.

Gain Some
Confidence to Keep Your
Man
| TEQUILA MAGAZINE | WWW.TEQUILAMAG.COM
by Gregory Frost Photographer Martin A. Trefzer
Ok, this article is a little response to many women who have been complaining to me about the men in their lives. The main complaint is that most modern men are treating them like sex objects, and after a while, they leave them. So where does this come from and how do they attract quality men? Well, the answer to this is that the whole precept comes from the initial meeting and this is the most crucial time that makes the impression stick in the mind of the man you are meeting.
F
or one thing, you have to differentiate yourself. Are you a 30 minute girl or a 20 year girl? This means are you either a girl that is going to be around for the short term, or are you going to be a long term investment for the guy. What you need to do is to look at certain things about how you present yourself for the first date, and this is really the most important thing about how you are going to be seen for the rest of the relationship.
R
emember, you need to understand one thing: dressing sexily is ok, but do not take it too far. Yeah, guys really appreciate a woman who knows how to show off her stuff, but then you will be pushed into another category, called the easy category. And once you are placed there, you are then going to be seen as a short term goal. All they will be looking at is your cleavage and your legs, and nothing else. If all
you are to them is a collection of body parts, then this is how you are going to be to them for the rest of the time. Wearing revealing clothes is fine, but make sure it has some restraint to it.
A
lso, do not go overboard with the touchy feely thing. Men loved to be touched, but then again, the thought that comes to their mind is that if this girl is touching me so much in the first 30 minutes of meeting me, what about other men. This is when other scenarios are going to enter into their mind. They will think you are going around touching every man you meet and this makes them feel like one of two things. Either, they are going to be quite repulsed by you, or they are going to feel like the attention you are giving them means they are not special to you. Oh, they will sleep with you of course, but it will degenerate into a one night stand.
T
hese are some of the things that you might want to think about when you are meeting a man for the first time, and if you want to keep them as soul mates, then you might want to reign in the horse for a while and reveal the love you have to give them little by little. A journey of discovery here is really important. About the Author: Grab your FREE “Unleashing Your Inner Confidence In 5 Easy Steps conse j i to s children in his or her life is to be a good role model for your teen. As you make choices and live a lifestyle that provides the right kind of example for your teen, you can help them see that they can make a difference by being a role model to others.
by Norbert Georget
If
your teen babysits younger children, has younger siblings or other family members, or is visible in your community in any way, you have an opportunity to teach your teen how to be a good role model. Not only is teaching your teen about being a good role model an effective way to help your teen learn to manage his or her own behavior, but the sense of satisfaction and self esteem boost

that your teen can gain from positively influencing another’s life can bring enormous satisfaction to you both. Teaching your teen to be a role model starts with helping your teen see the world through the eyes of the people who admire him or her. Younger siblings often idealize their older brothers and sisters, and when those older siblings make choices that clearly send a bad message, parents can use the opportunity to talk about how little eyes and ears are soaking

up everything that happens around them. There is a difference between forcing your teen to take responsibility for a younger sibling and allowing your teen an active role in aiding in the growth of younger children through becoming a role model. You have to help your teen see the benefit of the connection he or she can make with younger children. The best way to teach your teen to be a good role model for the younger
If you have a teen that is making poor choices, there is nothing wrong with pointing out to him or her the impact that is having on younger siblings or other family members. Help your teen see what behaviors are influential; when the teen uses foul language, makes a bad choice, refuses to do chores, or behaves disrespectfully, he or she is not just impacting you as the parent but providing an example to younger siblings. Ask your teen if he or she really wants a younger sibling to behave that way. This can be an effective approach with difficult teens because the teen is often more sensitive to the affect he or she has on a younger sibling than the affect the behavior has on you as a parent. Teaching your teen to be a good role model can be a way for you to connect with your teen as well as keep your teen connected and involved with your family. When your teens knows there are little eyes watching and little ears listening, they will naturally monitor their own behavior a bit more strenuously. It is a great way to teach your teen to take an active role in making positive choices, preparing them for adulthood and eventual parenthood. WHATS YOU’RE
FOUNDATION? There’s a foundation to everything we do. The foundation is your shell or a model to fulfill a purpose, adding substance to your being. A foundation is the root of all things. We all have a foundation in our lives. The beauty of having foundation is that you can change it at any time. It just takes searching within you or around you to know how to create the next one. What’s your foundation? By Tonise Gardner Image Stylist tonisegardner@yahoo.com www.serenityimage.com 704-408-1954
Let’s talk foundation to face A foundation is a part of your cosmetics. But, why should you have foundation? If you aren’t happy with your face’s small imperfections than you can just smooth things over with a nice flesh tone paint that diminishes the blemishes. Now, what we may fail to realize is that foundation doesn’t begin with the paint it begins with your face. The foundation smoothes the skin and the paint acts as an enhancer or just intensifies your beauty.
Tips for a Budget: 1. Everything starts from within so a good colon cleanse would purge every impurity to the surface. 2. Moisturize, regardless of how oily or normal-dry your skin may be you have to keep good moisture in your skin. 3. For those, who may have challenges with oily skin exfoliate first and then wash your face again with a creamier cleaner. 4. Use moisturizers that contain less alcohol and more herbal supplements such as lavender, chamomile (good for tightening the skin) and rosemary. 5. Normal to dry skin use a creamy cleanser for all washes. 6. Foundations should have the same undertones as your skin. Ask a consultant about your

a garment that doesn’t make you look like a sausage but like a cartoon character. I liked the garment so much I decided to become a wholesaler to distribute the line. Orthopedically designed, these reshaping garments can correct your posture by keeping you upright. That alone will increase a lot of things for you. You may even get a job on how you sit in an interview. You can appear to be confident and knowledgeable to the employer - body language is everything. Now, for women and even men these garments have the ability to cinch in the waistline two – three inches smaller comfortably. Because, women have more things to lift (you can agree with that in life, we have a lot to lift), the garments can lift the buttocks and the breasts. Put on your clothes now! You have an entirely different body. But, just know that your body was there all the time. So, within 30 days of putting on this garment you will see great results. www.ardysslife.com/infiniteprospertiy
Wardrobe Tips: undertones, 7. Eye shadow is used to highlight areas on the eyes or diminishes areas. The darker shades give more depth to the eyes while the lighter shades pronounce more in the eyes. There is also foundation in your wardrobe. Thank God for fabric! Where would we be if we didn’t have fashion? Fashion is included in many spaces in our lives even sleepwear. But, when you want to remove undesirable areas on your body you have a foundation to create. Yes, create the model as to what you do want for your body. By, making sure the clothes not only express your personality but, enhance your style and fit good on your body shape. A body with clothes that look tailored on says something about how well groomed you are. The beginning of creating the foundation for your body shape is in sculpting and toning. Pilates/Trainers are the new exercise. To help model and shape your gorgeous figure you must have a good reshaping garment. Yes, this would be found in your underwear or lingerie section whichever suits your taste. Now, I’m not talking about a girdle, notice I said a reshaping garment. Plastic Surgeons have reshaping garments or girdle like garments that can hold things together and allow the skin and tissue to mold itself back into shape. I’ve found
1. Don’t pack away your summer clothing. Wear your clothing year round. You can add turtle necks and long sleeve t-shirts under halters, tube dresses or shirts. 2. Tights are functional pieces for the wardrobe especially for warmth. Put your mini-skirts back on and wear them with your tights. This is a stylish and trendy look. Women over 35-you’re safe to wear this look as well. 3. Leg warmers are so 80’s but they are adorable with skinny jeans, pumps or ankle boots. For all of my V framed women who are very skinny below the waist leg warmers can add a little more fullness to your legs which can make you look more proportioned from top to bottom. 4. Scarves are gorgeous there are so many different types of scarves but can be utilized to give the outfit pop. Don’t be afraid to wear the scarf on your head or as a bracelet. You can enhance your bag or purse with a scarf. Have fun with them. 5. Nice pieces of costume jewelry go a long way. Remember if you have on large earrings tone done with your neck jewelry even if any at all. 6. The bigger the ring the better it’s a conversational piece and it can distract attention if you do not have a fresh manicure.

I Paid TOO
Much!
By: Pierre Rattini Biz Buzz Media 704.858.6899
Have you ever walked into a store and paid one price and walked into another store and found it for less? Well I think we all have, how irritating. Recently I came across an interior designer and immediately assumed she would be expensive. I know, you thought that too.
I learned
the difference between wholesale and retail pricing. It was actually less expensive to buy through a designer then to shop and compare. Have you ever wondered what it is like to work with a designer? I have spent the last month with Rita and some of her clients.
This is what I have observed. Rita’s clients come to her relaxed yet beautiful office and have everything they need at their finger tips. No crowds, no rushing around, no stress. They got to touch the fabrics, select the colors and choose the finish. Have you ever experienced selecting your own custom choices? I prefer this to the stores and it turned a stressful situation into a fun experience. Rita helps lighten the tension between couples with her sense of humor and knowledge; one would say it is designing for the sexes. “Clients buy a variety of items. As an example some clients have selected dining rooms but it includes selected art work, draperies, rugs, and accessories” says Rita. “We inform

clients of the arrival of their selections and then we come to the home ensuring the quality of the shipment. Next we ensure that each item is hung, positioned and/or installed to meet the clients and designers vision. It is a complete service making sure the client gets the feeling and results they wanted.” “For instance many clients will shop retail or the magazines and find something they dearly love then they will call me and I will find that item for them at an inexpensive price”, says Rita. “To gain the lifetime honesty and loyalty of a client is the mission of our firm and how we evaluate our success.”

2010Charlotte Fashion Week
Charlotte may not be known as the fashion capital of the world, but one company is creating a buzz around the city in hopes of changing that. Plitzs Fashion Marketing, the producers of the Charlotte North Carolina Fashion Week, has created an exciting event that has the grandeur and allure synonymous with fashion weeks from across the country. In 2010 Plitzs will enter its third year of hosting the multi-day, multi-cultural fashion event that has brought designers and models from all over the country to the city. The event has received the attention of numerous national brands like MAC Cosmetics, Bakers Shoes, and beauty company Carol’s Daughter. Others are already lining up to be part of the city’s largest fashion extravaganza of the year. CNCFW provides a unique opportunity for local and national designers to show their collections in front of a diverse audience of fashion enthusiasts and the media. The three day show also provides valuable experience for those pursuing careers in modeling as well as internships for students seeking experience in marketing, public relations, production and other areas of the industry.
tion of newbie’s like himself who were moving to the region from larger cities that boast thriving entertainment and social scenes. “While Uptown Charlotte at the time still had a ways to go to before being considered “cosmopolitan chic” the foundation had been laid and it was only a matter of time before the infrastructure was complete to support it fully” states Simons. “Our hunch paid off, and just a few years’ later venues like the Bobcats arena and the Epicenter sprung up, followed by the Harvey Gant Center, the Betchler Museum, and the Knight Theater, and the soon to be completed Mint Museum, and NASCAR Hall of Fame. “This represented major growth for the city of Charlotte and showed a significant investment in the city’s arts, culture, and entertainment scene”. “We wanted to be right there to grow with the city and remain ahead of the curve by introducing a major fashion event that would bring people together from all over, creatively and socially, while at the same time boasting tourism.”

day event was a huge success attracting 18 local and national designers, 25 fashion focused vendors, over 60 models, and more than 1500 spectators. Attendees also participated in image makeover, designer and model workshops hosted by local salon Carmen and Carmen Salon and Spa and Serenity Image Consulting, Carmen Webber and ICE Models with lively after parties each night. CNCFW provides incredible opportunities for so many of Charlotte’s local. Despite a less than favorable economy, the company hosted its second annual event September 10 -12 at the Mint Museum of Art under a tent-complete with beautiful runway lighting, infections music, and live entertainment. This year designers came from all over including several from Europe. “This is a great opportunity for us to do something really special for the city of Charlotte as it grow into an über city of modern style and sophistication” states Simons.
“The company recently assembled a high-profile board of directors made up of various local and national print media publications, marketing and public relations companies, event planners, image consultants, local sports celebrities and others who are experts in their field, who have come together to ensure the success of CNCFW 2010”. CNCFW 2010 is scheduled for September 23-25 and promises to be bigger and better so stay tuned as the world of fashion comes to Charlotte once again. Ahora es...... tiempo de
impuestos!!!!!!!
A
Staying Boy-Free IS
THE WAY TO BE!
Being in a relationship is so not what it is cracked up to be anymore. We know Valentine’s Day is around the corner but we came up with 6 reasons being Boyless is much more fun! FREEDOM Go as you please, come home when you want. Do anything you want without asking for “permission”. Roam the world! You are in control of your life. Take road trips, learn a new skill, move to a different city or take a few months off to travel the world. You are FREE!
Socializing You can use the word “YOU”. Throw away the word “WE” and you are your own person. You can hang out with who you want and where you want. You do not have to please anyone but yourself. Remember when it was “We haven’t been there yet,” or “We are on our way”? Well now you can say, “I have been there,” and “I am on my way”. That is right; you are you, not them or we, but you!
You can have friends! That’s right! Friends, remember that word? Often in many relationships, you will have a limit as to who you can hang out with and why. Well being BOYLESS means you can be surround by boy-friends more often! You don’t have to answer to anyone about who you are with or where you will be going. You can spend the day with anyone!
(Our Favorite) You are PERFECT! You do not have that person in the corner who is always pointing out your flaws. You can be who you are, act how you want, and do things your way, without criticism. You can talk for hours without being shhhed! You do not have to always look perfect and plump your lashes or gloss your lips every second
No Nagging! Women talk but men nag! Boys do not want to hear us nag more than we do them. In a relationship you have to learn to listen and unfortunately that includes all complaints. When you ask how work was, many do not want to know how much you hate your boss or your job. A one word answer is fine; we want to talk about our day!
No Holiday hell That is right! You do not have to buy presents or worry about the presents you will receive. This means more money for us to spend on us. What could be better? Or better yet, the disappointment of not receiving anything because he “forget”. 26

“
T.M: What is your name and where are you from? A: Fabián Alicastro de Cali Colombia. T.M: Where do you live now? Miami. T.M: Your past singles or CDs and work? A: CD “TODO VALE” con Sony BMG en el 2007 T.M: When or what event led you to decide music was your career?

T.M: Do you write your own songs?
Exclusive interview with ALICASTRO
T.M: What is your inspiration for your songs? T.M: Why did you select
Alicastro as your name?
T.M: What was your “Big Break”? T.M: What is your favorite song for karaoke? A: Losing My Religion de
Para
REM.
T.M: Explain your music in 5 words. A: Alegría, honestidad, inteligencia, sentimiento, esperanza. T.M: Your favorite song,
which you have written?
T.M: When did you know
you could sing?
T.M: Who were your
biggest music influences?
T.M: Who is your favorite singer?
T.M: What song best
describes you and what you are capable of singing?
T.M: If I was to turn on your IPOD right now, what embarrassing music would I find?
tour with anyone, who would it be?
T.M: What was your worst Valentine’s Day memory?

5 Tips to
Spice Up
Your Love Life by Emily Gray
w
With just a few tips to spice up your love life, you can be well on your way to building the excitement and romance you want in your relationship. It’s really not that difficult to add some spark to your romance. Often it’s the little, simple things that make all the difference.
Are you ready to dig in for some tips to spice up your love life?
Tip #1: Feel Sexy Purchase something sexy for yourself. This could be lingerie or underwear for women, or silky boxers for men. It could also be something as basic as a hot new top or dress, or a t shirt that shows off your broad chest and muscles for the men. When you feel sexy, you will act sexier as well. Your partner will pick up on the fact that you are feeling sexy, and they will respond to you differently. Doing something as simple as wearing something sexy can really put you both in the mood for some sexy fun.
Tip #2: Bring Back the Flirting The second of our tips to spice up your love life is to do some flirting. Do you 30
remember when you first started dating your partner, and the flirty way that you talked to them and acted around them? It’s time to bring that back! You might want to start out a bit slow on this one, especially if your relationship has been pretty routine for a long time. You don’t want to lay on the heavy flirting too hard and too fast! So start simple and slow, building it up as your partner responds and you get a feel for what they really like.
Tip #3: Get a Date No, I don’t mean a date with someone else – I mean schedule a date with your partner. If you have children, then hire a babysitter for the night – grandparents or other relatives can be a great resource for this, as they enjoy spending time with the kids. Your goal is to have the entire evening – and the whole night if
| TEQUILA MAGAZINE | WWW.TEQUILAMAG.COM
you can – to just the two of you. Prepare a romantic meal at home, or go out to one of the favorite spots that you used to frequent when you started dating. Pick a spot that has a lot of great memories for both of you, if you can. Dress nice for your date. Pretend like this is your first date with your partner and take extra care with how you look, smell, feel, etc. You want to be at your very best for them. Ban certain conversation topics for the evening. Don’t talk about work, the kids, the dirty dishes, or any of those kinds of topics. Use the time and conversation to get to know your partner better. Talk about “us” or your dreams and hopes. Talk about some of the great memories you have from your time together. Use this time to really connect on a personal and intima-
te level. If you are able to get the whole night to yourselves, then take advantage of it!
Tip #4: Love Notes Love notes are a great way to spice up your love life. Take just a few minutes to write your partner a sweet, romantic note and leave it somewhere they will find unexpectedly. Some good places to leave a romantic note are in their lunch, in their car, under their pillow, or in a pair of shoes that they wear all the time. Your love note can be soft and sweet, or it can be erotic and super sexy. Use your note to tell them things that you love about them, admire about them, or want to do to or with them.
Tip #5: Pampering Pampering is a great way to let your lover know
how you feel and care about them. A massage, a hot bath, a meal prepared especially for them, or a day out at the spa can all be great ways to pamper them. You can even do a day of pampering together, where you both spend the day at the spa, or go get a massage, or enjoy a nice bath together. This can be a great way to learn to relax and be taken care of together. With just these five tips, you are well equipped to start spicing up your love life! Start trying some of the new ideas, and you may be surprised where you end up! Watch for more articles with tips to spice up your love life. hen you get down to it, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of tools, resources and specific pieces of knowledge every business owner must have to succeed. Once you have a potentially viable business idea in mind, most of the other needs can be put into five categories.
1. Knowledge and Skills Successful entrepreneurs must have (or develop) a broad range of knowledge and skills. From organizational skills to people skills, from business fundamentals to detailed operations, an entrepreneur is

Five Things Every
Needs to

responsible for it all. Sure, you will be your own boss, but also your own accountant, attorney, marketing department, production line, salesman and secretary. And you have to play all these roles like a pro if you want to succeed!
2. Information Seasoned entrepreneurs are fountains of information. New entrepreneurs have to learn where to find what they need to know and must be able to retain and synthesize the information they gather. They also need the ability to quickly analyze and assess the data. The internet offers a wealth of free information, but much of it is worth exactly what you pay for it nothing. Before you launch your big idea, you need to absorb volumes of information on every aspect of running a business marketing, networking, financial management, employment, legal issues, compliance, and the list goes on. With a shrinking world and shorter attention spans in the marketplace, successful entrepreneurs must always be gathering the latest news and trends. Paying attention to what is going on within the industry and the business world is a critical aspect of keeping any venture current and relevant.
3. The Right Tools Any startup with plans for growth or even turning a minimal profit must have certain tolls in place. Computers and peripherals plus internet access is as important in business today as was a pen in generations past. Small business software, including an accounting system is critical. Posting a website is quickly becoming a necessity for every type of venture. Cellular phones are standard, as are organizational and planning systems. Regardless of what the get rich quick and for free scammers try to tell us, any business with any chance of success must have the appropriate tools to succeed.
4. Support Entrepreneurship is a difficult road and almost impossible to navigate completely alone. Worse, if the people closest to you don’t support your effort 100, it can be very difficult to stay motivated and avoid discouragement. You may need financial support, moral support, or even startup support from an expert, but every entrepreneur needs a support system to help keep them on track. Don’t underestimate the importance of this startups can include some very dark days. The better your support system, the easier it will be to butch through and re energize.
5. Desire Entrepreneurship requires the drive, commitment, and perseverance that come from a desire to succeed. You must want to be smarter, better and faster than your competitors. You must want to build a loyal following in your customers. If the will is weak, the business will fail. An overwhelming desire to succeed can overcome any number of limitations and setbacks. Without it, those obstacles might as well be mile high brick walls. About the Author: K. world cup 1930
By Adriana N
T
he World Cup was the dream of Jules Rimet, president at the time of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). His belief was that soccer could reinforce the ideals of a permanent and real peace. His vision was to establish an event that included professional and amateur athletes from around the globe. The Cup was named the Jules Rimet Cup in 1946. The World Cup is played every four years, except during World War II, in 1942 and 1946.
U
The World Cup of Soccer has a unique and fascinating history. The first games of the World Cup of Soccer tournament were held on July 13, 1930 at Pocitos Stadium and Estadio Gran Parque Central in Montevideo, Uruguay. France won the first round of the Cup over Mexico by four to one, and the USA won over Belgium by three to one. Lucien Laurent of France was the first player to score a goal in Cup history. Eighteen matches were held in total, with seventy goals scored.
ruguay was chosen as the host country because 1930 marked the centennial of that country’s constitution. Uruguay had also won two Olympic gold medals in football, and was the current world champions. The national football association offered to refund the costs of any team participating. Despite that offer, most European teams declined due to the distance and expense.
T
he first teams participating were from France, Belgium, Yugoslavia and Romania from Europe; Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Peru from South America; and Mexico and the United States from North America. Unlike subsequent series, there was no qualifying round for the first World Cup. There were two rounds for that first tournament, with teams broken into four groups based on geographic regions. Brazil, USA, Argentina and Uruguay were seeded. Yugoslavia, USA, Uruguay and Argentina made the semi finals. The tournament in 1930 was the only ones that did not include any games between the semi finals and finals. The third place playoff was not established until 1934.
World Cup Final 1930 Montevideo, Uruguay 4 Vs. Argentina 2. Belgian, John Langenus looks on as Uruguay’s Jose Nasazzi shakes hands with Argentina’s Manuel Ferreira.
T
he World Cup Final of that first series was played between Uruguay and Argentina on the 30th of July 1930. These two had faced off before at the 1928 Olympics. Uruguay beat the Argentineans four to two. The game was held at the Estadio Centenario, which was built for the tournament. The attendance was 93,000. Total attendance for the series was 434,500. Ten boats had been scheduled to carry Argentine fans from Buenos Aires to Montevideo, but they were insufficient. Between 10 ,000 to 15,000 spectators made the journey from Argentina; the port was so overwhelmed that many were unable to debark until after kick off. The stadium was full hours before the game began. The World Cup continues to be the most widely viewed sporting event in the world.
T
op players from the first Cup series were Ferreyra, Monti, Stábile from Argentina, Thépot from France, and Andrade, Cea, Nasazzi and Scarone from Uruguay. Guillermo Stábile was top scorer, with eight goals. The Uruguay team, founded in 1900, has since participated in ten World Cup championships, and won the Cup twice. You may think to yourself, it’s unbelievable that you do not know how to attract women and that you are still single now.
Y
ou know you are not ugly. In fact, some say that you are charming. Well, given that it was your Aunt Hilda and Uncle Barney who said that and they are, by blood duty, forced to say nice things to you, don’t you think they will go as far as lie to your face? You also know that you have a great character. There is nothing weird about you that can lead people to think they should stay away from you if they want to live. But why can’t you seem to get the interest of that girl in your office or that barista in your favorite coffee shop? Here are some of the easiest tips and tricks to get her look your way, or even more.
1. Look presentable. Think of it this way, you may just be walking out of the door to throw the trash but you never know if that cute neighbor of yours is looking. So before stepping out of your door, brush that mess of a hair and 34

please, put on some pants.
2. Smell nice. Some men think that
buying that cheap men’s cologne over at the grocery store is the answer on the question how to attract women. No, fact of the matter is, so long as you smell clean and that your nails do not have dirt in them, then you are all set.
3. Have an air of confidence
in you. And by confident, this does not mean arrogant. Say what you do proudly, walk tall and when you talk to people, never use a twitchy voice. If you do end up stuttering, talk slower and modulate your voice. This helps you sound more confident.
4. Be a gentleman. Offer to carry some of her load if ever she passes by your area and she seems to be hauling an entire kitchen showcase. Most women may exude the aura of independence but lending a hand is not a bad gesture to be remembered by. 5. Find the courage to get to
know her more. Say you are lucky enough to ride the elevator with her.
Work up the courage to open your mouth to say a simple greeting, like “Hi,” or “Good Morning.”
6. Act like you know your
manners. If you show her your barbaric ways, like shouting at the valet or getting really worked up with the cleaning lady in your office, then this shows some nasty behavior that most women do not want to undergo through. These 6 how to attract women tips are very effective because they are tested and tried ways on how women start to get interested. Try applying them even just for 4 weeks and see how much you’ve improved your chances in attracting the ladies. Who knows, you may even finally get the attention of that childhood sweetheart you have been eyeing since forever. K.I.S.S (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID)
Know your customers and how best to reach them. Your marketing needs to be simple, appealing to your customer base and communicate well. So many signs, ads, and even sales talk complicate and confuse people. Simple images and messages communicate best. The simple Gloria Jean’s Coffees drink posters have such a dramatic impact that occasionally stock will run out. If the poster is changed, the new drink displayed quickly becomes a high seller. I often glance at outdoor advertising posters – roadside, railways, street & bus stop posters. The ones that catch my attention are ones with few words, sometimes clever or arresting images where the company or service is easily identified. The Virgin airline ads come to mind – bold red writing with catchy lines, easily identified and simple. Down to earth simple things work well – the best advertising is always word of mouth it’s free! Get back to basics and do what works for your business Sample product – get out there and give stuff away, making sure you always direct people to the store or company. Ring people back – follow up promptly, it’s amazing how many businesses don’t! Clean up your website –simplify and make it fun (many first enquiries are now online) and answer all enquiries here daily at least. Make sure you have the right receptionist one who has a can do attitude, loves engaging people and knows the latest deals or offers. Follow 36

through with staff phone training – how many have been greeted by a great receptionist only to be challenged by a depressing, uncooperative accounts person.
AND DON’T STOP! ESPECIALLY DURING TOUGH TIMES One franchisee I spoke to thought there was little point in actively promoting his store while the shopping centre had renovations in progress and there were so few people coming to the centre (customer count was down 20 ). We both stood at the store entry point watching people pass by and I asked ‘Then what are all these people doing here? Why not start sampling now? You have 80 of potential customers still coming!’
DON’T GIVE UP Just because results seem harder to achieve – break the mindset that says ‘marketing now is a waste of time’.
FOCUS Tough times force us to re evaluate how we are marketing our businesses.
INVEST IN YOUR REGULARS This is the time to build on your regular customer base. Don’t be tempted to take your regulars for granted, look at investing greater value into any loyalty programs you may have.
STRATEGISE WITH YOUR TEAM Now is the time to keep your staff motivated and enthusiastic. Give them reasons to achieve results as well as have fun on the journey. When they enjoy the job it will reflect to customers. Encourage staff to see their alarm clock as an opportunity clock
A man who lived by the side of the road and sold hot dogs was hard of hearing, so he had no radio. He had trouble with his eyes, so he read no newspapers. But he sold good hot dogs. He put up signs on the highway advertising them. He stood on the side of the road and cried, Buy a hot dog, Mister? And people bought his hot dogs. He increased his meat and bun orders. He bought a bigger stove to take care of his trade. He finally got his son to come home from university to help out. But then something happened. Father, haven’t you been listening to the radio?” his son said. Haven’t you been reading the newspaper? There’s a world recession and war has erupted in the Middle East. People are losing their jobs” Whereupon the father thought, “Well my son’s been to university, he reads the papers and listens to the radio, and he ought to know. So the father cut down his meat and bun orders took down his signs and no longer bothered to stand out on the highway to sell his hot dogs. His sales fell overnight. You’re right, son the father said to the boy. We certainly are in the middle of a big recession Our Challenge is to think right in a negative world. Every day we receive news that is less than uplifting. We all know people who can hardly wait for the future so they can look back at regret. Negative thinking and living does many detrimental things in our life. It… 1. Creates doubt at critical decision times. 2. Is contagious. 3. Blows everything out of proportion. 4. Limits our potential. 5. Keeps us from enjoying life. 6. Hinders others from making a positive response Make a choice this week to see the damage that negative talking and thinking has on you, your business and your family. Make a choice to change. It will take time to reach new heights. Be patient, knowing that anything worthwhile is worth working for, although change itself is not progress, it is the price we pay for progress.
