Chartered and incorporated by the State of Texas in 1871, the TEXAS DENTAL ASSOCIATION (TDA) was created to cultivate the science and art of dentistry and to elevate and sustain the professional character of its members. Now, with more than 9,000 members representing almost two-thirds of the state’s dentists, the TDA continues to offer world-class continuing education and practice opportunities. It also serves as an advocate for the profession in the legislative arena and allows members the opportunities to help Texas’ most underserved population.
The TEXAS DENTAL JOURNAL was established in 1883 and is the longest, continuously published dental journal in the Americas. The monthly publication includes peer-reviewed scientific articles and evidence-based research and methodology of interest to all dentists and specialists. The TDA TODAY presents timely news covering the gamut of legislative, regulatory, and charitable issues. You will read about your peers in member spotlights and reports on statewide events.
Members of the TDA, the state’s largest dental organization, enjoy access to discounts and specials through dozens of dental supply and resource companies.
As the leader of the dental team, you know that the best patient is an informed patient, and a healthy mouth is a smart mouth. SMART MOUTH is mailed biannually as a supplement to the Texas Dental Journal and includes articles and oral health information for your waiting room patients.

you are the philanthropist Volunteer your hands, your mind, and your skills at a TEXAS MISSION OF MERCY, sponsored by TDASF. These dental MASH-type programs provide onthe-spot, restorative dental care for Texans who otherwise cannot afford treatment. Since 2001, Texas dentists have treated more than 25,000 patients and provided more than $18 million in charitable dental care. TDASF events are held in different locations throughout the state and represent one of the approaches used by the Texas dental profession to enhance access to quality oral health care.
Your love for serving others and your love for humanity come to fruition through the TEXAS DENTAL ASSOCIATION SMILES FOUNDATION (TDSAF). As a dentist, your skills improve the lives of others. What better way to put them to work than to bring the TDASF’s mission to life? “Our mission is to educate the public and professional about the oral health and improve access to dental care for citizens of Texas.”
