Purple Heart Cemetery Designation/Purple Heart Recipient

Dallas/Ft. Worth VA National Cemetery designated a Purple Heart Cemetery

ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2021, Lisa Lunkwicz, Texas Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Historian, Corpus Christi Post 2397 Commander Lazaro Camarillo (a Purple Heart recipient), and many members of the Purple Heart attended the dedication of the Purple Heart designation at the Dallas/Ft. Worth VA National Cemetery. Veterans from all branches were in attendance as well as the Honor Guard and Freedom Riders.

Comrade Jerry Greene, Texas VFW State Surgeon, was in attendance to represent the VFW. Greene also gave a speech in honor of Lisa Lunkwicz’s husband Jon Lunkwicz who was a Purple Heart recipient. His speech included thanks to the MOPH for designating the very first in the nation, Dallas/Ft. Worth VA National Cemetery, a Purple Heart VA Cemetery.

Life Member of VFW Post 8541 receives Purple Heart

ROBERT J. BRIGGS, LIFE MEMBER OF VFW POST 8541 IN SAN

ANTONIO AND US MARINE CORPS VIETNAM WAR VETERAN was awarded the Purple Heart on November 8, 2021, for wounds sustained in Vietnam more than 52 years ago. U.S. Congressman Joaquin Castro of San Antonio assisted Comrade Briggs with processing the Purple Heart and presented it to Comrade Briggs at a ceremony held at Post 8541. Several members of the Briggs family were present along with representatives of the Texas VFW, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans and local media.
